RESUMO

Single-molecule localization microscopy (SMLM) enables three-dimensional (3D) super-resolution imaging of nanoscale structures within biological samples. However, prolonged acquisition introduces a drift between the sample and the imaging system, resulting in artifacts in the reconstructed super-resolution image. Here, we present a novel, to our knowledge, 3D drift correction method that utilizes both the reflected and scattered light from the sample. Our method employs the reflected light of a near-infrared (NIR) laser for focus stabilization while synchronously capturing speckle images to estimate the lateral drift. This approach combines high-precision active compensation in the axial direction with lateral post-processing compensation, achieving the abilities of 3D drift correction with a single laser light. Compared to the popular localization events-based cross correlation method, our approach is much more robust, especially for datasets with sparse localization points.

RESUMO

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most prevalent malignant tumors with limited treatment options. Therefore, there is an urgent need to investigate new therapeutic targets against CRC. Ubiquitous Kruppel-like factor (UKLF) is involved in various cancer processes, but its effect and detailed molecular mechanism in CRC are not yet fully understood. Here, this study aimed to investigate the function and mechanism of UKLF in the development of CRC. The results showed that UKLF was highly expressed in CRC tissues from clinical patients and its high expression was related to poor prognosis. UKLF promoted cell proliferation, migration and invasion, and inhibited cell apoptosis. The promotion effect of UKLF on tumor growth was further confirmed in vivo. As far as the mechanism was concerned, poly (C) binding protein 2 (PCBP2) was verified to bind to the 3'-UTR of UKLF mRNA and enhance its mRNA stability. Moreover, UKLF modulated the expression of solute carrier family 39 member 4 (SLC39A4) at the transcriptional level. Taken together, these findings elucidated the regulatory mechanism of UKLF and uncovered the importance of the PCBP2/UKLF/SLC39A4 pathway. The targeting of UKLF may be a novel direction for molecular-targeted CRC therapy.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: The contribution of individual and combined inflammatory markers for the prognosis of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) remains elusive. This study investigated the effect of systemic inflammatory response index (SIRI), and neutrophil to high-density lipoprotein ratio (NHR), which is mediated by fasting blood glucose (FBG), on 90-day prognosis of patients with AIS. METHODS: In this pre-specified substudy of an observational cohort study, 2828 patients with AIS were enrolled from the Nanjing Stroke Registry between January 2017 to July 2021. Peripheral venous blood was collected from patients fasting for at least 8 hours within 24 hours of admission to gather information on the following parameters: neutrophil count, lymphocyte count, monocyte count, HDL level, and fasting blood glucose level. Then, the SIRI and NHR values were calculated. Following this, the correlation among SIRI, NHR, and modified Rankin Scale (mRS) scores 90d after onset was examined via univariate and multivariate logistic analyses. Lastly, mediation analysis was performed to examine the relationship between systematic inflammatory response and study outcomes mediated by FBG. RESULTS: SIRI and NHR were both negatively correlated with clinical outcomes (p < 0.05). Logistic regression analysis revealed that SIRI and NHR were independently associated with poor outcomes after adjusting for potential confounders. Subgroup analyses further validated these correlations. Meanwhile, mediation analysis corroborated that FBG partially mediated the associations between SIRI and a poor prognosis at 90d (indirect effect estimate = 0.0038, bootstrap 95% CI 0.001 to 0.008; direct effect estimate = 0.1719, bootstrap 95% CI 0.1258 to 0.2179). Besides, FBG also played a mediating role between NHR and poor outcomes (indirect effect estimate = 0.0066, bootstrap 95% CI 0.002 to 0.120; direct effect estimate = 0.1308, bootstrap 95% CI 0.0934 to 0.1681). CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrated that SIRI and NHR are positively associated with poor clinical and mortality outcomes at 90d in AIS patients, which was partially mediated by FBG.

RESUMO

Camellia tetracocca H.T. Chang 1981 is an important wild relative of cultivated tea plants. Its leaves are widely used by local people to make tea, showing great economic and breeding values. We here report the complete chloroplast genome of C. tetracocca using Illumina sequencing technology. The complete chloroplast genome of C. tetracocca is 157,026 bp in length, and structurally contains a pair of inverted repeat regions (IRa and IRb, 26,052 bp) separated by a large single-copy region (LSC, 86,669 bp) and a small single-copy region (SSC, 18,253 bp). It is composed of 131 predicted genes, including 86 protein-coding genes, 37 transfer RNA genes, and eight ribosomal RNA genes. The overall GC content is 37.31%. Phylogenetic analysis among four Camellia species and 11 other close species reveals a close relationship between C. tetracocca and C. gymnogyna.

RESUMO

The stimulator of interferon genes (STING) plays a pivotal role in orchestrating innate immunity, and dysregulated activity of STING has been implicated in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases. Recent findings suggest that bacterial infection activates STING, relieving ER stress, and triggers non-canonical autophagy by spatially regulating STX17. Despite these insights, the precise mechanism governing the dynamics of autophagosome fusion elicited by STING remains unclear. In this study, we demonstrate that dynamic STING activation guides the autophagy flux, mirroring the trajectory of canonical autophagy adaptors. STING engages in a physical interaction with STX17, and agonist-induced phosphorylation or degradation alleviates STING's inhibitory effects on the assembly of the STX17-SNAP29-VAMP8 complex. Consistent with these findings, degradation-deficient mutants hinder autophagy flux by impeding STX17-mediated autophagosome-lysosome fusion. Moreover, STING mutants associated with lupus disrupt the assembly of the STX17-SNAP29-VAMP8 complex and autophagy process, which lead to persistent STING activation and elevated IFN-ß production. Our results highlight that the intracellular trajectory of STING, coupled with autophagy flux, guides the assembly and membrane fusion of the STX17-SNAP29-VAMP8 complex, ensuring the accurate regulation of innate immunity.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Fasting blood glucose (FBG) is a risk factor for Acute Ischemic Stroke (AIS). We aimed to systematically assess the association of FBG level and 90-day unfavorable outcome in AIS patients. METHODS: FBG levels and related information of the patients were collected at admission. The unfavorable outcome was defined as 90-day mRS 3-6. FBG levels were analyzed as continuous variables and tertiles (Q1-Q3). Odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals were calculated by using multivariate logistic regression analysis. RESULTS: Overall, 677 AIS patients were included. FBG were significantly associated with unfavorable outcome at 90 days (adjusted OR 1.15 [95%Cl, 1.05-1.25], P = 0.002). Participants were categorized based on the FBG tertile cut-off points, the Odds ratios was 2.55-fold higher in Q3 than those in Q1 after adjusting (OR 2.55[95%Cl, 1.23-5.3], p = 0.012). Threshold effect analysis showed when FBG ≥ 5.5 mmol/L, the correlation between FBG and 90-day unfavorable outcome increased significantly. Subgroup analysis showed that there was no significant interaction between FBG and 90-day unfavorable outcome. Non-diabetic AIS patients with hyperglycemia (FBG ≥ 7 mmol/L) have a worse prognosis in comparison to those with normal glucose (FBG ˂ 5.6 mmol/L) (OR 8.59 [ 95%Cl, 2.24-32.97], p = 0.002). CONCLUSION: FBG is an independent predictor of 90-day unfavorable outcome after stroke in AIS patients. When FBG ≥ 5.5 mmol/L, the risk of 90-day unfavorable outcome increases significantly.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) participate in the process of neuropathic pain (NP). Herein, the goal of this research was to examine the roles of lncRNA five prime to XIST (FTX) in influencing chronic constriction injury (CCI)-induced NP. MATERIAL AND METHODS: We have established a rat CCI model to simulate NP in vivo. Reverse transcription-quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) was used to detect mRNA levels of FTX, microRNA (miR)-320a, and runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2) in the spinal cord. This was followed by subsequent regulation of FTX or miR-320a levels in vivo by intrathecal injection of overexpression FTX or miR-320a mimic lentivirus. The behaviour of rat NP the paw withdrawal threshold (PWT) and paw withdrawal latency (PWL). Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to assess the secretion of pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory factors in the spinal cord tissue. A correlation between FTX and miR-320a, and RUNX2 was validated by luciferase reporter. RESULTS: FTX levels were reduced in CCI rats ( p < 0.05), and miR-320a was a direct target of FTX. Overexpression of FTX typically reduced PWL and PWT as well as neuroinflammation thus alleviating NP ( p < 0.05). However, increasing miR-320a reversed the alleviation of FTX on NP, increased PWL and PWT, and promoted neuroinflammation ( p < 0.05). Additionally, RUNX2, which is a miR-320a target gene, was significantly repressed in CCI rats and its expression was increased by FTX, however, this increase was attenuated by elevated miR-320a ( p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: In the CCI-induced NP rat model, FTX attenuates NP and neuroinflammation by regulating the miR-320a/RUNX2 axis. This provides a new vision for NP treatment.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: To explore the association of systemic inflammatory index (SIRI), systemic immune-inflammatory index (SII) and inflammatory prognosis index (IPI) with 90d outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) after intravenous thrombolysis. METHODS: The patients who underwent intravenous thrombolysis were enrolled in the present study from September 2019 to December 2022. According to the relevant blood indexes obtained in 24 h after admission, the corresponding values of SIRI, SII and IPI were calculated. The correlation among SIRI, SII, IPI, and admission NIHSS scores was examined by Spearman correlation analysis. ROC curve analysis was conducted to determine the optimal cut-off value of SIRI, SII, IPI, and their corresponding sensitivity and specificity to evaluate their predictive value on admission for poor prognosis. To investigate whether high SIRI, SII, and IPI were independent predictors of poor outcomes within 90 days, variables with P-value < 0.05 during univariate analysis were included in multivariate analysis. RESULTS: Compared with the good outcome group, the poor outcome group had higher SIRI, IPI, and SII. Spearman correlation analysis showed that the SIRI, IPI, and SII levels significantly correlated with the admission NIHSS score (r = 0.338, 0.356, 0.427, respectively; Ps < 0.001). Univariate analysis and Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed high SIRI, SII, and IPI values as independent risk factors for poor 90-day prognosis (OR = 1.09, 1.003 and 7.109, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: High SIRI, IPI, and SII values are correlated with poor 90d outcomes in AIS patients undergoing intravenous thrombolysis.

RESUMO

As a novel two-dimensional material, violet phosphorus (VP) has attracted a considerable amount of attention due to its high carrier mobility, anisotropy, wide band gap, stability, and easy stripping properties. In this work, the microtribological properties of partially oxidized VP (oVP) and the mechanism of reducing friction and wear as additives in oleic acid (OA) oil were studied systematically. When adding oVP to OA, the coefficient of friction (COF) decreased from 0.084 to 0.014 with the steel-to-steel pair, and the ultralow shearing strength tribofilm consisting of amorphous carbon and phosphorus oxides that formed resulted in the reductions of COF and wear rate individually by 83.3% and 53.9%, respectively, compared with those of pure OA. The results extended the application scenarios for VP in the design of lubricant additives.

RESUMO

Wearable surface electromyography (sEMG) signal-acquisition devices have considerable potential for medical applications. Signals obtained from sEMG armbands can be used to identify a person's intentions using machine learning. However, the performance and recognition capabilities of commercially available sEMG armbands are generally limited. This paper presents the design of a wireless high-performance sEMG armband (hereinafter referred to as the α Armband), which has 16 channels and a 16-bit analog-to-digital converter and can reach 2000 samples per second per channel (adjustable) with a bandwidth of 0.1-20 kHz (adjustable). The α Armband can configure parameters and interact with sEMG data through low-power Bluetooth. We collected sEMG data from the forearms of 30 subjects using the α Armband and extracted three different image samples from the time-frequency domain for training and testing convolutional neural networks. The average recognition accuracy for 10 hand gestures was as high as 98.6%, indicating that the α Armband is highly practical and robust, with excellent development potential.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Thyroid function may be useful prognostic predictor of acute ischemic stroke. However, the relationship between thyroid function and stroke prognosis remains controversial. We aimed to explore the correlation between thyroid function at admission and 90-day functional outcome in patients with acute ischemic stroke. METHODS: Our data were collected from patients with AIS (acute ischemic stroke) registered in the Stroke Center of Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine from January 2021 to July 2021.The outcome was divided into good outcome as mRS (Modified Rankin Scale) score <3, poor outcome as mRS≥3 (including hemorrhage, recurrence, and death within 90 days after stroke).Univariate, multivariate logistic regression analysis, tertile analysis and subgroup analysis were used to evaluate the relationship between TSH (Thyroid-stimulating hormone), FT3 (Free Triiodothyronine), FT4 (Free thyroxine) and 90-day outcome. RESULTS: 699 patients with AIS were included in this study. In univariate analysis, FT3 was negatively correlated with poor outcome of AIS patients at 90-day, TSH was not statistically correlated with 90-day outcome. Multivariate analysis showed that FT3 was negatively correlated poor outcome of AIS patients at 90-day. After adjusting for potential confounders, TSH was negatively correlated with poor outcome. Participants were categorized based on the tertile cut-off points of FT3 and TSH. With the increase of TSH value, the incidence of poor outcomes in Q3 was 0.57 times higher than that of Q1. Similarly, with the increase of FT3 value, the incidence of poor outcomes in Q3 is 0.3 times than that of Q1. CONCLUSIONS: FT3 and TSH were negatively correlated with poor 90-day outcome in patients with AIS. Measurement of thyroid function on admission may provide independent prognostic information for 90-day outcome of AIS.

RESUMO

The proportion of natural sand replaced by steel slag sand affects the volumetric stability of steel slag mortar and steel slag concrete. However, the steel slag substitution rate detection method is inefficient and lacks representative sampling. Therefore, a deep learning-based steel slag sand substitution rate detection method is proposed. The technique adds a squeeze and excitation (SE) attention mechanism to the ConvNeXt model to improve the model's efficiency in extracting the color features of steel slag sand mix. Meanwhile, the model's accuracy is further enhanced by using the migration learning method. The experimental results show that SE can effectively help ConvNeXt acquire images' color features. The model's accuracy in predicting the replacement rate of steel slag sand is 87.99%, which is better than the original ConvNeXt network and other standard convolutional neural networks. After using the migration learning training method, the model predicts the steel slag sand substitution rate with 92.64% accuracy, improving accuracy by 4.65%. The SE attention mechanism and the migration learning training method can help the model acquire the critical features of the image better and effectively improve the model's accuracy. The method proposed in this paper can identify the steel slag sand substitution rate quickly and accurately and can be used for the detection of the steel slag sand substitution rate.

RESUMO

Engineering nanocontainers with encapsulated inhibitors onto graphene has been an emerging technology for developing self-healing anticorrosion coatings. However, the loading contents of inhibitors are commonly limited by inhomogeneous nanostructures of graphene platforms. Here, we propose an activation-induced ultrathin graphene platform (UG-BP) with the homogeneous growth of polydopamine (PDA) nanocontainers encapsulated with benzotriazole (BTA). Ultrathin graphene prepared by catalytic exfoliation and etching activation provides an ideal platform with an ultrahigh specific surface area (1646.8 m2/g) and homogeneous active sites for the growth of PDA nanocontainers, which achieves a high loading content of inhibitors (40 wt %). The obtained UG-BP platform exhibits pH-sensitive corrosion inhibition effects due to its charged groups. The epoxy/UG-BP coating possesses integrated properties of enhanced mechanical properties (>94%), efficient pH-sensitive self-healing behaviors (98.5% healing efficiency over 7 days), and excellent anticorrosion performance (4.21 × 109 Ω·cm2 over 60 days), which stands out from previous related works. Moreover, the interfacial anticorrosion mechanism of UG-BP is revealed in detail, which can inhibit the oxidation of Fe2+ and promote the passivation of corrosion products by a dehydration process. This work provides a universal activation-induced strategy for developing loading-enhanced and tailor-made graphene platforms in extended smart systems and demonstrates a promising smart self-healing coating for advanced anticorrosion applications.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The optimal blood pressure (BP) targets for acute ischemic stroke are unclear. We aimed to assess the relationship between Mean BP and clinical outcomes during hospitalization. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We included 649 patients with Acute ischemic stroke (AIS) from December 2020 to July 2021. BP was measured daily, and mean blood pressure was calculated. Clinical events recorded within 90 days of randomization were: recurrent ischemic stroke, symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage, and death. The modified Rankin Scale (mRS) was used to measure primary outcomes 3 months after AIS. Logistic multiple regression analysis was performed by statistical software R. RESULT: There is a nonlinear U-shaped relationship between SBP and poor outcomes. This means higher SBP and lower SBP will increase the incidence of poor outcomes. The optimal mean SBP during hospitalization was 135-150 mmHg, and patients with SBP < 135mmhg OR 2.4 [95% Cl, (1.16 ~ 4.97)], P = 0.018; and > 150mmhg OR 2.04 [95% Cl, 1.02 ~ 4.08], p = 0.045 had a higher probability of poor outcomes. CONCLUSION: Our study shows that the optimal SBP of patients with AIS during hospitalization was 135-150 mmHg. The findings suggest that the relationship between mean SBP and 3-month functional outcome after AIS was U-shaped. Both higher SBP and lower SBP lead to poor prognosis in AIS patients.

RESUMO

Chilling stress threatens the yield and distribution pattern of global crops, including the tea plant (Camellia sinensis), one of the most important cash crops around the world. Circular RNA (circRNA) plays roles in regulating plant growth and biotic/abiotic stress responses. Understanding the evolutionary characteristics of circRNA and its feedbacks to chilling stress in the tea plant will help to elucidate the vital roles of circRNAs. In the current report, we systematically identified 2702 high-confidence circRNAs under chilling stress in the tea plant, and interestingly found that the generation of tea plant circRNAs was associated with the length of their flanking introns. Repetitive sequences annotation and DNA methylation analysis revealed that the longer flanking introns of circRNAs present more repetitive sequences and higher methylation levels, which suggested that repeat-elements-mediated DNA methylation might promote the circRNAs biogenesis in the tea plant. We further detected 250 differentially expressed circRNAs under chilling stress, which were functionally enriched in GO terms related to cold/stress responses. Constructing a circRNA-miRNA-mRNA interaction network discovered 139 differentially expressed circRNAs harboring potential miRNA binding sites, which further identified 14 circRNAs that might contribute to tea plant chilling responses. We further characterized a key circRNA, CSS-circFAB1, which was significantly induced under chilling stress. FISH and silencing experiments revealed that CSS-circFAB1 was potentially involved in chilling tolerance of the tea plant. Our study emphasizes the importance of circRNA and its preliminary role against low-temperature stress, providing new insights for tea plant cold tolerance breeding.

RESUMO

Neuropathic pain, characterized by persistent or intermittent spontaneous pain as well as some unpleasant abnormal sensations, is one of the most prevalent health problems in the world. Ectopic nerve activity, central and peripheral nociceptive sensitization and many other potential mechanisms may participate in neuropathic pain. The complexity and ambiguity of neuropathic pain mechanisms result in difficulties in pain management, and existing treatment plans provide less-than-satisfactory relief. In recent years, single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) has been increasingly applied and has become a powerful means for biological researchers to explore the complexity of neurobiology. This technique can be used to perform unbiased, high-throughput and high-resolution transcriptional analyses of neuropathic pain-associated cells, improving the understanding of neuropathic pain mechanisms and enabling individualized pain management. To date, scRNA-seq has been preliminarily used in neuropathic pain research for applications such as compiling a dorsal root ganglion atlas, identifying new cell types and discovering gene regulatory networks associated with neuropathic pain. Although scRNA-seq is a relatively new technique in the neuropathic pain field, there have been several studies based on animal models. However, because of the various differences between animals and humans, more attention should be given to translational medicine research. With the aid of scRNA-seq, researchers can further explore the mechanism of neuropathic pain to improve the clinical understanding of the diagnosis, treatment and management of neuropathic pain.

RESUMO

Despite paramount applications of chiral trifluoromethylated compounds in medicinal chemistry and materials science, limited strategies have been developed for catalytic asymmetric synthesis of such valuable fluorinated structures. Here, we report a nickel catalyzed enantioselective dicarbofunctionalization of inexpensive industrial chemical 3,3,3-trifluoropropene (TFP) with readily available tertiary alkyl and aryl iodides. The reaction overcomes the ß-F elimination side reaction of TFP, and proceeds efficiently under mild reaction conditions. The protocol possesses advantages, such as synthetic convenience, high enantioselectivity, and excellent functional group tolerance, providing rapid and straightforward access to chiral trifluoromethylated compounds of medicinal interest.

RESUMO

Many brittle materials, such as single-crystal materials, amorphous materials, and ceramics, are widely used in many industries such as the energy industry, aerospace industry, and biomedical industry. In recent years, there is an increasing demand for high-precision micro-machining of these brittle materials to produce precision functional parts. Traditional ultra-precision micro-machining can lead to workpiece cracking, low machined surface quality, and reduced tool life. To reduce and further solve these problems, a new micro-machining process is needed. As one of the nontraditional machining processes, rotary ultrasonic machining is an effective method to reduce the issues generated by traditional machining processes of brittle materials. Therefore, rotary ultrasonic micro-machining (RUµM) is investigated to conduct the surface micro-machining of brittle materials. Due to the small diameter cutting tool (<500 µm) and high accuracy requirements, the impact of input parameters in the rotary ultrasonic surface micro-machining (RUSµM) process on tool deformation and cutting quality is extremely different from that in rotary ultrasonic surface machining (RUSM) with relatively large diameter cutting tool (∼10 mm). Up till now, there is still no investigation on the effects of ultrasonic vibration (UV) and input variables (such as tool rotation speed and depth of cut) on cutting force and machined surface quality in RUSµM of brittle materials. To fill this knowledge gap, rotary ultrasonic surface micro-machining of the silicon wafer (one of the most versatile brittle materials) was conducted in this study. The effects of ultrasonic vibration, tool rotation speed, and depth of cut on tool trajectory, material removal rate (MRR), cutting force, cutting surface quality, and residual stress were investigated. Results show that the ultrasonic vibration could reduce the cutting force, improve the cutting surface quality, and suppress the residual compressive stress, especially under conditions with high tool rotation speed.

RESUMO

Objectives: Varicella-zoster virus (VZV) can induce herpes zoster (HZ) and postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). Immune cells play an important role in regulating HZ and PHN pathogenesis, but the dynamic immune profiles and molecular mechanisms remain unclear. This study aimed to screen dynamic immune signatures during HZ progression and elucidate the mechanism of VZV-specific T cells in PHN. Methods: We used cytometry by time-of-flight (CyTOF) to analyze peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) samples from 45 patients with HZ and eight age-sex-matched healthy controls, eight PHN samples and seven non-PHN samples. Correlations between the immune subsets and clinical pain-related scores were performed. Further, the characteristics of VZV-specific T cells between PHN and non-PHN patients were evaluated by VZV peptide pools stimulation. The expression level of cytokines, including granzyme B, interleukin (IL)-2, interferon (IFN)-γ, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α was performed via cytometric bead array. Finally, we analyzed the alteration of Ca2+ signals in dorsal root ganglion (DRG)-derived cells after TNF-α stimulation. Results: We investigated the dynamic characteristics of the immune landscape of peripheral blood samples of patients with HZ and PHN, and depicted two major dynamic signatures in NK, CD4+ and CD8+ T subsets in patients with HZ, which closely correlated with clinical pain-related scores. The frequency of PD-1+CD4+ T cells, VZV-specific PD-1+CD4+ T cells, and the amount of TNF-α produced by VZV-specific T cells were higher in patients with PHN than without PHN. Furthermore, we showed that TNF-α could induce calcium influx in DRG-derived cells in a dose-dependent manner. Conclusions: Our results profiled the dynamic signatures of immune cells in patients with HZ and highlighted the important role of VZV-specific T cells in the pathogenesis of PHN.

RESUMO

A novel class of polymers and oligomers of chiral folding chirality has been designed and synthesized, showing structurally compacted triple-column/multiple-layer frameworks. Both uniformed and differentiated aromatic chromophoric units were successfully constructed between naphthyl piers of this framework. Screening monomers, catalysts, and catalytic systems led to the success of asymmetric catalytic Suzuki-Miyaura polycouplings. Enantio- and diastereochemistry were unambiguously determined by X-ray structural analysis and concurrently by comparison with a similar asymmetric induction by the same catalyst in the asymmetric synthesis of a chiral three-layered product. The resulting chiral polymers exhibit intense fluorescence activity in a solid form and solution under specific wavelength irradiation.
