RESUMO

Hybridization of livestock can be used to improve varieties, and different hybrid combinations produce unique breeding effects. In this study, male Southdown and Suffolk sheep were selected to hybridize with female Hu sheep to explore the effects of male parentage on muscle growth and the development of offspring. Using data-independent acquisition technology, we identified 119, 187, and 26 differentially abundant proteins (DAPs) between Hu × Hu (HH) versus Southdown × Hu (NH), HH versus Suffolk × Hu (SH), and NH versus SH crosses. Two DAPs, MYOZ2 and MYOM3, were common to the three hybrid groups and were mainly enriched in muscle growth and development-related pathways. At the myoblast proliferation stage, MYOZ2 expression decreased cell viability and inhibited proliferation. At the myoblast differentiation stage, MYOZ2 expression promoted myoblast fusion and enhanced the level of cell fusion. These findings provide new insights into the key proteins and metabolic pathways involved in the effect of male parentage on muscle growth and the development of hybrid offspring in sheep.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the incremental diagnostic value of virtual non-contrast (VNC) images derived from unenhanced dual-energy computed tomography (CT) for the diagnosis of choledocholithiasis by comparison with conventional unenhanced CT. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Eighty-nine patients with gallbladder stones who had undergone both abdominal unenhanced dual-energy CT and magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) were retrospectively included. There were 53 men and 36 women, with a mean age of 54 ± 13 (standard deviation) years (age range: 41-67 years). VNC and conventional CT images were generated. Two independent radiologists evaluated the presence of choledocholithiasis in three reading sessions (session 1, conventional unenhanced CT images; session 2, VNC images; session 3, conventional unenhanced CT plus VNC images). The reading time to identify choledocholithiasis was recorded. Inter-reader agreement was measured by using the Cohen kappa (κ) test. Incremental diagnostic value of VNC imaging when combined with conventional unenhanced CT was assessed based on discrimination (area under the curve [AUC]) and clinical utility (decision curve analysis). The diagnostic performance of dual-energy CT and that of MRCP were compared using DeLong test. RESULTS: Using the standard of reference, 39 patients (39/89; 44%) had choledocholithiasis. The diagnosis of choledocholithiasis was improved using VNC images in combination with conventional unenhanced CT (AUC, 0.877; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.808, 0.947) by comparison with conventional unenhanced CT alone (AUC, 0.789; 95% CI: 0.718, 0.877) (P = 0.033) and achieved almost perfect inter-reader agreement (κ = 0.88; 95% CI: 0.72, 1.00) for the diagnosis of choledocholithiasis, without lengthening the median reading time (16.2 s for the combination of conventional CT and VNC images vs. 14.7 s for conventional CT alone; P= 0.325). Based on decision curve analysis, adding VNC imaging to conventional unenhanced CT resulted in a higher net benefit among most of decision thresholds. No differences in diagnostic performance were found between the combination of conventional unenhanced CT and VNC imaging (AUC, 0.877; 95% CI: 0.808, 0.947) and MRCP (AUC, 0.913; 95% CI: 0.852, 0.974) (P= 0.458). CONCLUSIONS: VNC images derived from dual-energy unenhanced CT have incremental diagnostic value for the diagnosis of choledocholithiasis. Unenhanced CT in a dual-energy mode may be a useful tool for the diagnosis of choledocholithiasis.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate changes of computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA)-derived parameters in older adults with acute pulmonary embolism (APE). METHODS: According to the pulmonary artery obstruction index (PAOI), patients with APE were divided into the A1 (PAOI ≥30%, n = 57) and A2 (PAOI <30%, n = 40) groups. Participants without APE were placed in group B (n = 170). The left atrial (LA) and left ventricular (LV) parameters among the three groups were compared, and the parameter changes in the 44 patients with APE were analyzed before and after treatment. The correlation between APE severity and the parameters was analyzed using correlation analysis. RESULTS: The left-to-right diameters (LR) of LA, and LR × anteroposterior diameters (AP) of LA and LV: A1 < A2 < B; LR of LV: A1 < A2, B; AP of LA and LV: A1, A2 < B. After treatment, LR and LR × AP of the LA and LV were significantly increased in the group A1 and LR of the LV and LR × AP of the LA and LV were elevated in the group A2. Acute pulmonary embolism severity was closely associated with LR × AP ( r = -0.557) and LR ( r = -0.477) of LA. CONCLUSIONS: With an increase in the degree of obstruction, older adults had a smaller LA and LV. Furthermore, the LR and LR × AP values of the LA were significantly decreased. These results contribute to in-time risk stratification.

RESUMO

This article presents a multimodal steerable earthworm-inspired soft robot based on vacuum and positive pressure powered pneumatic actuators capable of crawling both inside pipelines and on planar surfaces. The optimized modular vacuum pressure-driven actuator can generate deformation and anchoring motion through a unified structure under low vacuum pressure, giving it significant speed advantages and multi-modal locomotion capabilities. Meanwhile, the positive pressure powered actuator (PPPA) enables the robot to achieve controlled multi-directional and multi-degrees-of-freedom steering, moreover, enhances the consistency of the driving mechanism. The incorporation of front-end pressure sensing enables the robot to autonomously detect and evaluate pressure, facilitating automatic obstacle avoidance through the activation of corresponding turning units of PPPA. In the process of optimizing motion parameters, the overall motion efficiency has been improved by 16.7% by improving the control law. Through adjustments and optimizations of the interval time (cycle time), the robot is able to achieve a speed of 7.16 mm s-1during planar locomotion and 1.94 mm s-1during in-pipe locomotion. Using the developed robot, we conducted a series of turning experiments, including surface obstacle avoidance and cross-plane crawling, which demonstrated its enhanced capability in cross-plane steering and locomotion. Its related speed indicators showcase superior overall performance compared to other developed robots of the same type.

RESUMO

The SLIT3 gene encodes a secreted protein, and the ZNF280B gene is a member of the transcription factor family. Both genes have multiple biological functions. This study was conducted to investigate the association between SLIT3 and ZNF280B gene polymorphisms and wool fiber diameter and to determine potential molecular marker sites for breeding sheep with fine wool. We used Kompetitive Allele-Specific PCR to type the single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) loci in the SLIT3 and ZNF280B genes within 1081 Alpine Merino sheep and associated these SNPs with wool fiber diameter. The results revealed one SNP in SLIT3 and ZNF280B, which were each related to sheep fiber diameter. The wool fiber diameters of sheep with the CC genotype in SLIT3 g.478807C>G and AA genotype in ZNF280B g.677G>A were the smallest and differed significantly from the diameters of other genotypes (p < 0.05). These results suggest potential molecular marker sites for fine-wool sheep breeding.

RESUMO

Consumers are increasingly demanding high-quality mutton. Cross breeding can improve meat quality and is widely used in sheep breeding. However, little is known about the molecular mechanism of cross breeding sheep meat quality. In this study, male Southdown and female Hu sheep were hybridized. The slaughter performance and longissimus dorsi quality of the 6-month-old hybrid offspring were measured, and the longissimus dorsi of the hybrid offspring was analyzed by transcriptomics and metabolomics to explore the effect of cross breeding on meat quality. The results showed that the production performance of Southdown × Hu F1 sheep was significantly improved, the carcass fat content was significantly decreased, and the eating quality of Southdown × Hu F1 sheep were better. Compared with the HS group (Hu × Hu), the NH group (Southdown × Hu) had 538 differentially expressed genes and 166 differentially expressed metabolites (P < 0.05), which were significantly enriched in amino acid metabolism and other related pathways. Up-regulated genes METTL21C, PPARGC1A and down-regulated gene WFIKKN2 are related to muscle growth and development. Among them, the METTL21C gene, which is related to muscle development, was highly correlated with carnosine, a metabolite related to meat quality (correlation > 0.6 and P < 0.05). Our results provide further understanding of the molecular mechanism of cross breeding for sheep muscle growth and meat quality optimization.

RESUMO

With the development of high-throughput sequencing technology, several nongenetic variations, including noncoding RNAs such as miRNAs, and DNA methylation, have been found to play an important role in animal muscle development and fat metabolism. In this study, Southdown and Suffolk were selected as male parents for hybridization with Hu sheep (Southdown × Hu (NH), Suffolk × Hu (SH), and Hu × Hu (HH)). RNA sequencing, bisulfite sequencing, and small-RNA sequencing were used to study the methylation patterns and differences in miRNA and mRNA expression in the F1 sheep longissimus dorsi muscle tissue. We identified 765 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), 10,161 differentially methylated regions (DMRs), and 164 differentially expressed miRNAs, which were significantly enriched in AMPK signaling, fatty acid degradation, metabolism, and other related pathways (P < 0.05). In addition, we constructed a DNA methylation-mRNA and miRNA-mRNA coexpression network. A total of 42 common genes were identified from DMRs and DEGs. Importantly, we predicted that 33 differentially expressed miRNAs directly or indirectly targeted the SLC27A6. The data obtained in this study provide useful information and evidence to support further understanding of the miRNA and DNA methylation of key genes regulating muscle growth and fat metabolism in hybrid sheep populations.

RESUMO

Colonial cyanobacteria have been identified as the primary contributor to the global occurrence of cyanobacterial harmful algal blooms (cyanoHABs), which are further intensified by the presence of "pseudo-persistent" antibiotics. Nevertheless, the impact of antibiotics on the growth and size of colonial cyanobacteria remains unclear. In this study, the response of cyanobacterium Microcystis to varying doses of antibiotics was assessed (0, 0.1, 0.5, 1, 10, and 50 µg L-1) by comparing the unicellular and colonial morphotypes. Interestingly, the morphological structure of cyanobacteria plays a significant role in their reaction to antibiotics. In comparison to the unicellular morphotype, the colonial morphotype exhibited a greater promotion in growth rate (11 %-22 %) to low doses of antibiotics and was less inhibited (-121 %--62 %) under high doses. Furthermore, antibiotics may affect the size of cyanobacterial colonies by disrupting the secretion of algal organic matter, which also exhibited a two-phase pattern. This work sheds light on the significance of methodology research involving both unicellular and colonial cyanobacteria. Future research and lake management should prioritize studying the morphological traits of cyanobacteria under different levels of antibiotic exposure. This approach may lead to novel strategies for predicting cyanoHABs under antibiotic pollution more effectively.

RESUMO

CO2 flooding is a favorable technical means for the efficient development of low-permeability reservoirs, and it can also contribute to the realization of net-zero CO2 emissions. However, due to the unfavorable viscosity ratio and gravity overriding effect, CO2 channeling will inevitably occur, seriously affecting its storage and displacement effects. This paper conducts a systematic study on the application of polymer-assisted CO2 flooding in low-permeability reservoirs. Firstly, the polymer agent suitable for low-permeability reservoirs is optimized through the viscosity-increasing, rheological, and temperature- and salt-resistant properties of the solution. Then, the injectivity performance, resistance-increasing ability, and profile-improving effect of the polymer solution were evaluated through core experiments, and the optimum concentration was optimized. Finally, the enhanced oil recovery (EOR) effects of polymer-assisted and water-assisted CO2 flooding were compared. The results show that the temperature-resistant polymer surfactant (TRPS) has a certain viscosity-increasing performance, good temperature resistance performance, and can react with CO2 to increase the solution viscosity significantly. Meanwhile, TRPS has good injection performance and resistance-increasing effect. The resistance increasing factor (η and η') of TRPS-assisted CO2 flooding increases with increased permeability, the concentration of TRPS solution, and injection rounds. Considering η' and the profile improvement effect comprehensively, the application concentration of TRPS should be 1000 mg/L. The EOR effect of TRPS-assisted CO2 flooding is 8.21% higher than that of water-assisted CO2 flooding. The main effective period is in the first and second rounds, and the best injection round is three. The research content of this paper can provide data support for the field application of polymer-assisted CO2 flooding in low-permeability reservoirs.

RESUMO

Wool fiber is a textile material that is highly valued based on its diameter, which is crucial in determining its economic value. To analyze the molecular mechanisms regulating wool fiber diameter, we used a Data-independent acquisition-based quantitative proteomics approach to analyze the skin proteome of Alpine Merino sheep with four fiber diameter ranges. From three contrasts of defined groups, we identified 275, 229, and 190 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs). Further analysis using Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathways revealed that pathways associated with cyclic adenosine monophosphate and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor signaling are relevant to wool fiber diameter. Using the K-means method, we investigated the DEP expression patterns across wool diameter ranges. Using weighted gene co-expression network analysis, we identified seven key proteins (CIDEA, CRYM, MLX, TPST2, GPD1, GOPC, and CAMK2G) that may be involved in regulating wool fiber diameter. Our findings provide a theoretical foundation for identifying DEPs and pathways associated with wool fiber diameter in Alpine Merino sheep to enable a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying the genetic regulation of wool fiber quality.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: It is not uncommon for some individuals to retain certain primitive characteristics even after domestication or long-term intensive selection. Wild ancestors or original varieties of animals typically possess strong adaptability to environmental preservation, a trait that is often lacking in highly artificially selected populations. In the case of the Merino population, a world-renowned fine wool sheep breed, a phenotype with primitive coarse wool characteristic has re-emerged. It is currently unclear whether this characteristic is detrimental to the production of fine wool or whether it is linked to the adaptability of sheep. The underlying genetic/epigenetic mechanisms behind this trait are also poorly understood. RESULTS: This study identified lambs with an ancestral-like coarse (ALC) wool type that emerged during the purebred breeding of Merino fine wool sheep. The presence of this primitive sheep characteristic resulted in better environmental adaptability in lambs, as well as improved fine wool yield in adulthood. Reciprocal cross experiments revealed that the ALC phenotype exhibited maternal genetic characteristics. Transcriptomic SNP analysis indicated that the ALC phenotype was localized to the imprinted Gtl2-miRNAs locus, and a significant correlation was found between the ALC wool type and a newly identified short Interstitial Telomeric Sequences (s-ITSs) at this locus. We further confirmed that a novel 38-nt small RNA transcribed from these s-ITSs, in combination with the previously reported 22-nt small RNAs cluster from the Gtl2-miRNAs locus, synergistically inhibited PI3K/AKT/Metabolic/Oxidative stress and subsequent apoptotic pathways in wool follicle stem cells, resulting in the ALC wool type. The necessity of Gtl2-miRNAs in controlling primary hair follicle morphogenesis, as well as the wool follicle type for ALC wool lambs, was verified using intergenic differentially methylated region-knockout mice. CONCLUSION: The ALC wool type of Merino sheep, which does not reduce wool quality but increases yield and adaptability, is regulated by epigenetic mechanisms in the imprinted Gtl2-miRNAs region on sheep chromosome 18, with the maternally expressed imprinted gene responsible for the ALC phenotype. This study highlights the significance of epigenetic regulation during embryonic and juvenile stages and emphasizes the advantages of early adaptation breeding for maternal parents in enhancing the overall performance of their offspring.

RESUMO

This experiment was conducted to study the effects of dietary energy level on the growth performance and meat quality of weaned Alpine Merino lambs. The study ran for a total of 104 days (20-day pretrial, 84-day trial). From three groups of test lambs, we randomly selected ten lambs per group to determine slaughter performance, meat quality characteristics, and organ indexes. The slaughter performances of the lambs improved as the dietary energy level increased. The live weight before the slaughter of the lambs was significantly higher in the high group than in the low and medium groups. The carcass weight was significantly higher in the high group than in the low group. Dietary energy level had little effect on the organ weight of lambs. Meat quality differed among the three dietary energy levels. The muscle yellowness and redness scores decreased significantly as the energy levels increased. The C18:0, C21:0, C20:1, C18:2n6c, and C20:2 contents in the muscle were significantly higher in the high group than in the medium and low groups. The C18:3n6 content in the muscle was significantly higher in the low group than in the medium group. The C20:5n3 content in the longissimus dorsi was significantly higher in the high group than in the medium and low groups. The monounsaturated and unsaturated fatty acid contents in the muscle were significantly higher in the high group than in the low group. A dietary energy level of 10.5 MJ/kg is suitable for fattening weaned male Alpine Merino lambs.

RESUMO

The high adsorption capacity of coal reservoirs poses a challenge to the evaluation of productivity and output profiles for each segment of fractured horizontal wells using tracers. In this study, the microstructure of a coal sample from block B and its absorption character to a micromaterial tracer are analyzed first. Then, an anti-adsorption micromaterial tracer system which is suitable for block B is proposed by evaluating different types of complexing agents and extractant agents. The system comprises micromaterial tracers (200 ppb) + ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid tetrasodium (EDTA-4Na in short) (0.01%) + di(2-ethylhexyl) phosphate (HDEHP in short) (0.001%), and its anti-adsorption character of the system is analyzed. The concentration dynamics of micromaterial tracers are analyzed by the flowback fluid testing of one fracturing well and two adjacent wells. Then, a judging method for productivity and connectivity of each segment of horizontal wells is established. Moreover, the anti-adsorption micromaterial tracer system judgment method is employed to analyze the staged fracturing performance of horizontal well B1 in the coal reservoir of block B. Eight types of micromaterial tracers are utilized to label the fluid in each fracturing segment for assessing the connectivity between well B1 and adjacent wells B1-1 and B1-2. The results show that the anti-adsorption micromaterial tracer system exhibits minimal adsorption loss and can be well applied in segment monitoring in the horizontal fracturing well of coal reservoirs. The main productive segments of well B1 are #1, #4, and #8. Well B1 exhibits good connectivity with adjacent well B1-1 in segments #1, #4, #6, and #8. Conversely, all segments of well B1 exhibit poor connectivity with adjacent well B1-2. The results can provide a dependable reference for optimizing fracturing parameters, well spacing, and productivity evaluation in coal reservoirs. The results obtained in this study are consistent with the results obtained by using the four-dimensional (4D in short) image monitoring technology, which proves the good accuracy and reliability of the micromaterial tracer monitoring method.

RESUMO

Heat stress is an important environmental factor affecting livestock production worldwide. Primary hepatocytes and preadipocytes derived from Hu sheep were used to establish a heat stress model. Quantitative reverse transcriptase-PCR (qRT-PCR) analysis showed that heat induction significantly increased the expression levels of heat stress protein (HSP) genes and the N6-methyladenosine (m6A) methylation modification genes: methyltransferase-like protein 3 (METTL3), methyltransferase-like protein 14 (METTL14), and fat mass and obesity associated protein (FTO). Heat stress simultaneously promoted cell apoptosis. Transcriptome sequencing identified 3980 upregulated genes and 2420 downregulated genes related to heat stress. A pathway enrichment analysis of these genes revealed significant enrichment in fatty acid biosynthesis, degradation, and the PI3K-Akt and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) signaling pathways. Overexpression of METTL3 in primary hepatocytes led to significant downregulation of HSP60, HSP70, and HSP110, and significantly increased mRNA m6A methylation; FTO interference generated the opposite results. Primary adipocytes showed similar results. Transcriptome analysis of cells under METTL3 (or FTO) inference and overexpression revealed differentially expressed genes enriched in the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathways, as well as the PI3K-Akt and Ras signaling pathways. We speculate that METTL3 may increase the level of m6A methylation to inhibit fat deposition and/or inhibit the expression of HSP genes to enhance the body's resistance to heat stress, while the FTO gene generated the opposite molecular mechanism. This study provides a scientific basis and theoretical support for sheep feeding and management practices during heat stress.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Wool fibers are valuable materials for textile industry. Typical wool fibers are divided into medullated and non-medullated types, with the former generated from primary wool follicles and the latter by either primary or secondary wool follicles. The medullated wool is a common wool type in the ancestors of fine wool sheep before breeding. The fine wool sheep have a non-medullated coat. However, the critical period determining the type of wool follicles is the embryonic stage, which limits the phenotypic observation and variant contrast, making both selection and studies of wool type variation fairly difficult. RESULTS: During the breeding of a modern fine (MF) wool sheep population with multiple-ovulation and embryo transfer technique, we serendipitously discovered lambs with ancestral-like coarse (ALC) wool. Whole-genome resequencing confirmed ALC wool lambs as a variant type from the MF wool population. We mapped the significantly associated methylation locus on chromosome 4 by using whole genome bisulfite sequencing signals, and in turn identified the SOSTDC1 gene as exons hypermethylated in ALC wool lambs compare to their half/full sibling MF wool lambs. Transcriptome sequencing found that SOSTDC1 was expressed dozens of times more in ALC wool lamb skin than that of MF and was at the top of all differentially expressed genes. An analogy with the transcriptome of coarse/fine wool breeds revealed that differentially expressed genes and enriched pathways at postnatal lamb stage in ALC/MF were highly similar to those at the embryonic stage in the former. Further experiments validated that the SOSTDC1 gene was specifically highly expressed in the nucleus of the dermal papilla of primary wool follicles. CONCLUSION: In this study, we conducted genome-wide differential methylation site association analysis on differential wool type trait, and located the only CpG locus that strongly associated with primary wool follicle development. Combined with transcriptome analysis, SOSTDC1 was identified as the only gene at this locus that was specifically overexpressed in the primary wool follicle stem cells of ALC wool lamb skin. The discovery of this key gene and its epigenetic regulation contributes to understanding the domestication and breeding of fine wool sheep.

RESUMO

Prolyl endopeptidase can partially degrade soybean protein B3 subunit and alleviate soy sauce secondary precipitate. In this study, the influences of ultrasound-assisted prolyl endopeptidase on the degradation of soybean protein B3 subunit of soy sauce and primary mechanism were investigated using SDS-PAGE, MALDI-TOF-MS, circular dichromatic spectrometer, fluorescence spectra, etc. Results showed that ultrasound-assisted prolyl endopeptidase enhanced 72% degradation rate of B3 subunit and reduced soy sauce secondary precipitate remarkably, meanwhile significantly increased content of organic taste compounds of soy sauce compared with control (p < 0.05). Sonication markedly reduced percentage of α-helix and increased percentage of random coil, made hydrophobic amino acids inside prolyl endopeptidase exposed to its surface and enhanced its flexibility, which facilitated the binding of prolyl endopeptidase active center with B3 subunit and finally enhanced the latter's degradation rate and appearance quality of soy sauce. This work laid a foundation for solving soy sauce secondary precipitate.

RESUMO

Deep-learning (DL) methods have gained significant attention in ghost imaging (GI) as promising approaches to attain high-quality reconstructions with limited sampling rates. However, existing DL-based GI methods primarily emphasize pixel-level loss and one-to-one mapping from bucket signals or low-quality GI images to high-quality images, tending to overlook the diversity in image reconstruction. Interpreting image reconstruction from the perspective of conditional probability, we propose the utilization of the denoising diffusion probabilistic model (DDPM) framework to address this challenge. Our designed method, known as DDPMGI, can not only achieve better quality but also generate reconstruction results with high diversity. At a sampling rate of 10%, our method achieves an average PSNR of 21.19 dB and an SSIM of 0.64, surpassing the performance of other comparison methods. The results of physical experiments further validate the effectiveness of our approach in real-world scenarios. Furthermore, we explore the potential application of our method in color GI reconstruction, where the average PSNR and SSIM reach 20.055 dB and 0.723, respectively. These results highlight the significant advancements and potential of our method in achieving high-quality image reconstructions in GI, including color image reconstruction.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Brain plasticity and functional reorganization are the main mechanisms of stroke rehabilitation and the theoretical basis for transcranial magnetic therapy. Bimodal balance recovery model suggests that the structural integrity of neural pathways affects the functional reorganization mode of brain recovery after stroke. The principal neural pathway that innervates swallowing is the corticobulbar tract (CBT). The goal is to investigate the impact of corticobulbar tract integrity on swallowing function recovery in post-stroke dysphagia (PSD) patients treated with repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS). METHODS: Thirty-five patients with high CBT integrity (relative fractional anisotropy (rFA) >0.5) and 32 patients with low CBT integrity (rFA ≤0.5) were respectively assigned to three subgroups through a random number table: 5 Hz frequency rTMS group, 1 Hz frequency rTMS group, and Sham rTMS group. The Standardized Swallowing Assessment (SSA), Penetration Aspiration Scale (PAS), and Dysphagia Outcome Severity Scale (DOSS) were analyzed before and after therapy. RESULTS: Significant improvements in SSA (p < 0.05), PAS (p < 0.05), and DOSS scores (p < 0.05) were seen in the high frequency (HF) and low frequency (LF) groups compared with the Sham group for patients with high CBT integrity. Increased SSA (p < 0.05), PAS (p < 0.05), and DOSS scores (p < 0.05) demonstrated that the HF group achieved greater remediation than the LF and Sham groups for patients with low CBT integrity. CONCLUSIONS: Both 5 Hz and 1 Hz rTMS over the contralateral hemisphere are effective for the treatment of swallowing disorders for patients with high CBT integrity after stroke; 5 Hz rTMS over the contralateral hemisphere is more effective than 1 Hz and sham stimulation for patients with low CBT integrity.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To assess the value of chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA) and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) for the prenatal diagnosis of chromosomal mosaicisms. METHODS: A total of 775 pregnant women who had visited the Prenatal Diagnosis Center of Yancheng Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital from January 2018 to December 2020 were selected as study subjects. Chromosome karyotyping analysis and CMA were carried out for all women, and FISH was used to validate the suspected mosaicism cases. RESULTS: Among the 775 amniotic fluid samples, karyotyping has identified 13 mosaicism cases, which yielded a detection rate of 1.55%. Respectively, there were 4, 3, 4 and 2 cases for sex chromosome number mosaicisms, abnormal sex chromosome structure mosaicisms, abnormal autosomal number mosaicisms and abnormal autosomal structure mosaicisms. CMA has only detected only 6 of the 13 cases. Among 3 cases verified by FISH, 2 cases were consistent with the karyotyping and CMA results, and clearly showed low proportion mosaicism, and 1 case was consistent with the result of karyotyping but with a normal result by CMA. Eight pregnant women had chosen to terminate the pregnancy (5 with sex chromosome mosaicisms and 3 with autosomal mosaicisms). CONCLUSION: For fetuses suspected for chromosomal mosaicisms, CMA, FISH and G-banding karyotyping should be combined to determine the type and proportion of mosaicisms more precisely in order to provide more information for genetic counseling.

RESUMO

Currently, soft robotics technologies are creating the means of robotic abilities and are required for the development of biomimetic robotics. In recent years, earthworm-inspired soft robot has garnered increasing attention as a major branch of bionic robots. The major studies on earthworm-inspired soft robots focuses on the deformation of the earthworm body segment. Consequently, various actuation methods have been proposed to conduct the expansion and contraction of the robot's segments for locomotion simulation. This review article aims to act as a reference guide for researchers interested in the field of earthworm-inspired soft robot, and to present the current state of research, summarize current design innovations, compare the advantages and disadvantages of different actuation methods with the purpose of inspiring future innovative orientations for researchers. Herein, earthworm-inspired soft robots are classified into single- and multi-segment types, and the characteristics of various actuation methods are introduced and compared according to the number of matching segments. Moreover, various promising application instances of the different actuation methods are detailed along with their main features. Finally, motion performances of the robots are compared by two normalized metrics-speed compared by body length and speed compared by body diameter, and future developments in this research direction are presented.
