RESUMO

Rotary lip seal is used in various applications where the rotation shaft needs to be sealed, such as hydraulic pumps, fuel pumps, camshafts, crankshafts, and so on. Many thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication models of rotary lip seal have been introduced, and most of these models neglect the asperity contact. This article proposes a mixed thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication model of rotary lip seal, in which the microstructure of sealing lip surface, influence of temperature on fluid viscosity, and deformation of lip surface, as well as the asperity contact, are taken into consideration. Simulation study is carried out, and the results show that the asperity contact should not be neglected for analyzing the sealing performance of the rotary lip seal. The influence of speed on the sealing performance is also analyzed based on the proposed model.

RESUMO

In this paper, a molecular dynamics (MD) simulation model of carbon-fiber/pyrolytic-carbon (Cf/PyC) interphase in carbon/carbon (C/C) composites manufactured by the chemical vapor phase infiltration (CVI) process was established based on microscopic observation results. By using the MD simulation method, the mechanical properties of the Cf/PyC interphase under tangential shear and a normal tensile load were studied, respectively. Meanwhile, the deformation and failure mechanisms of the interphase were investigated with different sizes of the average length L ¯ a of fiber surface sheets. The empirical formula of the interfacial modulus and strength with the change of L ¯ a was obtained as well. The shear properties of the isotropic pyrolysis carbon (IPyC) matrix were also presented by MD simulation. Finally, the mechanical properties obtained by the MD simulation were substituted into the cohesive force model, and a fiber ejection test of the C/C composite was simulated by the finite element analysis (FEA) method. The simulation results were in good agreement with the experimental ones. The MD simulation results show that the shear performance of the Cf/PyC interphase is relatively higher when L ¯ a is small due to the effects of non-in-plane shear, the barrier between crystals, and long sheet folding. On the other hand, the size of L ¯ a has no obvious influence on the interfacial normal tensile mechanical properties.

RESUMO

Accidental pollution events often threaten people's health and lives, and a pollutant source is very necessary so that prompt remedial actions can be taken. In this paper, a trace continuous pollutant source identification method is developed to identify a sudden continuous emission pollutant source in an enclosed space. The location probability model is set up firstly, and then the identification method is realized by searching a global optimal objective value of the location probability. In order to discuss the identifiability performance of the presented method, a conception of a synergy degree of velocity fields is presented in order to quantitatively analyze the impact of velocity field on the identification performance. Based on this conception, some simulation cases were conducted. The application conditions of this method are obtained according to the simulation studies. In order to verify the presented method, we designed an experiment and identified an unknown source appearing in the experimental space. The result showed that the method can identify a sudden trace continuous source when the studied situation satisfies the application conditions.
