Kaposi's sarcoma in a patient with focal glomerulosclerosis.

We report the clinical features and outcome af a patient who presented Kaposi's sarcoma following immunosuppressive therapy for FGS; Cyclophosphamide and steroids were administered; the patient recovered after three months treatment with i.v. vinblastine.

Sebaceous carcinoma arising from the eyelid and from extra-ocular sites.

Sebaceous carcinoma is slow growing, locally aggressive and capable of metastatic spread. The natural history of sebaceous carcinoma arising from the eyelid is well known, but less than 100 cases arising from other cutaneous sites have been reported. Five cases of sebaceous carcinoma, 3 of which originated from the eyelid and 2 from extraocular sites are here reported. The patients (3 men and 2 women; median age, 69 years) were treated at the Istituto Nazionale Tumori of Milan between 1974 and 1984. Pathologic features, complete follow-up and natural history are reported.

Secondary neoplastic infiltration of the myocardium diagnosed by two-dimensional echocardiography in seven cases with anatomic confirmation.

In seven patients with different types of neoplasm, secondary myocardial infiltration was diagnosed in vivo by two-dimensional echocardiography and confirmed by direct inspection. In all patients, clinical and electrocardiographic findings were suggestive but nonspecific for myocardial involvement. Two patients had cardiac tamponade and three had pericardial effusion. In three patients, the echocardiographic diagnosis made it possible to plan specific therapy. Clinical, electrocardiographic and echocardiographic aspects are discussed. A two-dimensional echocardiographic examination should be performed in all patients when cardiac metastatic involvement is suspected from clinical electrocardiographic findings, because the in vivo diagnosis of such a condition may have important therapeutic implications for such patients.
