RESUMO

This study examines the influence of the reduction in value-added tax (VAT) rates in China during 2018 and 2019 on corporate financialization. By employing a difference-in-differences model and utilizing data from Chinese A-share listed companies between 2017 and 2020, we assess the effects of tax reduction policies. Moreover, it achieves this outcome through three main pathways: alleviating financing constraints, boosting fixed asset investment, and weakening corporate financial arbitrage motives. Further analysis demonstrates that the inhibitory effect of VAT rate reduction on corporate financialization is more pronounced for non-manufacturing companies, businesses reliant on the basic tax rate as their primary revenue source, companies with low intermediate input rates, and those with a strong ability to shift the tax burden. Additionally, debt financing costs play a crucial role in moderating the relationship between tax reduction policies and corporate financialization. The conclusions drawn from this study provide valuable empirical evidence that can contribute to the refinement of VAT reduction policies and the prevention and resolution of financialization at the micro-level.

RESUMO

[Background]: Improvement of synergies in medical and nursing services can help governments to optimize the allocation of medical resources; however, an appropriate evaluation method is critical for a suitable decision process in this regard. [Method]: To assess the medical and nursing service combination (MNSC) at a regional level, this study applied a five-dimension evaluation index composed of 28 basic response areas related to the MNSC development status in China, determining its respective weight through the Delphi and entropy methods. [Result]: This empirical exercise analyzed the MNSC supply system by interviewing nine heads of medical and nursing institutions and eleven healthcare-related government personnel during August of 2020 in Xinxiang City, Henan province, P.R China. Results showed: (1) public satisfaction with the fees charged by Medical and Nursing service Institutions (MNSI); (2) Medicare and supply services' policy publicity; (3) the external financing situation of MNSI; (4) the medical staff's professional quality; (5) the medical facilities and supply of MNSI; and (6) that the recognition level of the development plan of MNSI scored the highest effect on the synergy of MNSC supply among the assessed factors. [Conclusion]: These results showed that an evaluation based on the Delphi and entropy methods can effectively integrate the opinions of experts and related institutions to evaluate synergies on the medical and nursing service supply.

RESUMO

This study aims to investigate healthcare workers' (HCWs) willingness to receive SARS-CoV-2 vaccine in Zhejiang and to discover the related influential factors. The survey was conducted in six regions of Zhejiang Province, China, and 13 hospitals and 12 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) were incorporated into the survey research. Participants were healthcare workers and a total of 3726 questionnaires were collected online, of which 3634 (97.53%) were analyzed. The relationships between the factors and the willingness to get vaccinated against COVID-19 were computed as odds ratios (ORs) by means of multi-factor non-conditional logistic regression analysis. Of the 3634 participants, 2874 (79.09%) HCWs expressed their willingness to get vaccinated if the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine becomes available. Respondents who were younger than 50 years (OR = 1.502, 95% CI: 1.047-2.154), those who believed that they were somewhat likely (OR = 1.658, 95% CI: 1.297-2.120) or likely (OR = 1.893, 95% CI: 1.334-2.684) to get infected by SARS-COV-2 and those with a positive attitude toward the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine were more willing to get vaccinated. Furthermore, compared to doctors, nurses were more reluctant to get vaccinated. In addition, it was found that higher the education level, lower the willingness to get vaccinated. This study revealed that HCWs in Zhejiang Province had a high willingness to get vaccinated. Awareness about the vaccine's effectiveness and safety and the disease severity should be promoted among HCWs over 50 years of age and nurses to increase the willingness to get vaccinated.
