RESUMO

Exposure of metals to neutron irradiation results in an increase in the yield strength and a significant loss of ductility. Irradiation hardening is also closely related to the fracture toughness temperature shift or the ductile-to-brittle transition temperature (DBTT) shift in alloys with a body-centered cubic (bcc) crystal structure. Ion irradiation is an indispensable tool in the study of the radiation effects of materials for nuclear energy systems. Due to the shallow damage depth in ion-irradiated materials, the nanoindentation test is the most commonly used method for characterizing the changes in mechanical properties after ion irradiation. Issues that affect the analysis of irradiation hardening may arise due to changes in the surface morphology and mechanical properties, as well as the inherent complexities in nanoscale indentation. These issues, including changes in surface roughness, carbon contamination, the pile-up effect, and the indentation size effect, with corresponding measures, were reviewed. Modeling using the crystal plasticity finite element method of the nanoindentation of ion-irradiated materials was also reviewed. The challenges in extending the nanoindentation test to high temperatures and to multiscale simulation were addressed.

RESUMO

Ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury is one of the major causes of cardiovascular disease. Gypenoside A (GP), the main active component of Gynostemma pentaphyllum, alleviates myocardial I/R injury. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) and microRNAs (miRNAs) are involved in the I/R injury. We explored the protective effect of GP on human cardiomyocytes (HCMs) via the circ_0010729/miR-370-3p/RUNX1 axis. Overexpression of circ_0010729 abolished the effects of GP on HMC, such as suppression of apoptosis and increase in cell viability and proliferation. Overexpression of miR-370-3p reversed the effect of circ_0010729 overexpression, resulting in the stimulation of HMC viability and proliferation and inhibition of apoptosis. The knockdown of miR-370-3p suppressed the effects of GP in HCMs. RUNX1 silencing counteracted the effect of miR-370-3p knockdown and maintained GP-induced suppression of apoptosis and stimulation of HMC viability and proliferation. The levels of RUNX1 mRNA and protein were reduced in cells expressing miR-370-3p. In conclusion, this study confirmed that GP alleviated the I/R injury of myocardial cell via the circ_0010729/miR-370-3p/RUNX1 axis.

RESUMO

The titanium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel Fe-15Cr-15Ni, which shows enhanced resistance to irradiation swelling compared with more traditional 316Ti, has been selected as a core material for fast reactors. Data on the evolution of irradiation swelling in 15-15Ti steels at very high doses, which cannot be easily achieved by neutron irradiation, are still lacking. In this paper, the swelling behavior of the titanium-modified austenitic stainless steel 15-15Ti was investigated by pre-implantation of He at room temperature followed by Ni-ion irradiation at 580 °C to peak doses of 120, 240 and 400 dpa. Relatively small cavities were observed in the zone of helium implantation, while large cavities appeared in the region near the damage peak. A correction formula for the dpa curve was proposed and applied to samples with large swelling. It was found that the steady-state swelling rate of 15-15Ti remains at ~1%/dpa even at high doses. By comparing the swelling data of the helium-implanted and helium-free regions at same doses, 70 dpa and 122 dpa, the suppression of swelling by excessive helium can be deduced at such doses.

RESUMO

This paper presents the results of microstructural analysis of novel preceramic paper-derived SiCf/SiC composites fabricated by spark plasma sintering. The sintering temperature and pressure were 2100/2200 °C and 60/100 MPa, respectively. The content of fibers in the composites was approx. 10 wt %. The SiCf/SiC composites were analyzed by positron annihilation methods, X-ray diffraction technology, scanning electron microscopy, and Raman spectroscopy. Longer sintering time causes the proportion of the 6H-SiC composition to increase to ~80%. The increase in sintering temperature from 2100 °C to 2200 °C leads to partial transition of 4H-SiC to 6H-SiC during the sintering process, and the long-life component of positrons indicates the formation of Si vacancies. The Raman characteristic peaks of turbostratic graphite appear in the Raman spectrum of SiC fibers, this is caused by the diffusion of carbon from the surface of the SiC fiber and the preceramic paper during the high-temperature sintering process.

RESUMO

Myocardial fibrosis (MF) is the result of persistent and repeated aggravation of myocardial ischemia and hypoxia, leading to the gradual development of heart failure of chronic ischemic heart disease. Triptolide (TPL) is identified to be involved in the treatment for MF. This study aims to explore the mechanism of TPL in the treatment of MF. The MF rat model was established, subcutaneously injected with isoproterenol and treated by subcutaneous injection of TPL. The cardiac function of each group was evaluated, including LVEF, LVFS, LVES, and LVED. The expressions of ANP, BNP, inflammatory related factors (IL-1ß, IL-18, TNF-α, MCP-1, VCAM-1), NLRP3 inflammasome factors (NLRP3, ASC) and fibrosis related factors (TGF-ß1, COL1, and COL3) in rats were dete cted. H&E staining and Masson staining were used to observe myocardial cell inflammation and fibrosis of rats. Western blot was used to detect the p-P65 and t-P65 levels in nucleoprotein of rat myocardial tissues. LVED and LVES of MF group were significantly upregulated, LVEF and LVFS were significantly downregulated, while TPL treatment reversed these trends; TPL treatment downregulated the tissue injury and improved the pathological damage of MF rats. TPL treatment downregulated the levels of inflammatory factors and fibrosis factors, and inhibited the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome. Activation of NLRP3 inflammasome or NF-κB pathway reversed the effect of TPL on MF. Collectively, TPL inhibited the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome by inhibiting NF-κB pathway, and improved MF in MF rats.
