RESUMO

The plasmid profile of 25 hospital strains of Gram-negative bacteria that are known to be originators of neonatal sepsis was studied by the authors. Of these, E. coli, Enterobacter spp., and Citrobacter spp. proved to be the most frequently seen causative agents in the above health problem, with 13, 5, and 7 strains respectively having been recovered in the studied material. There have been isolated 26 plasmids from the studied 25 bacterial strains. Of these, fifty percent were classified as Citrobacter spp. The molecular mass of the plasmids recovered has been found to vary among 30 and 120.

RESUMO

Particular features have been studied of the clinical course of present-day abdominal typhoid caused by Sp. typhi 61-0 polyresistant strains. The clinical analysis performed has shown that Sp. typhi 61-0 polyresistant strain-associated enteric fever runs a moderately severe and severe course. There is an increased frequency of complications such as intestinal hemorrhage, perforated intestine, pneumonia, in the above patients. In the time-related course of the disease, Widal's reaction is not considered to be expedient for use in the diagnosis of Sp. typhi 61-0 strain-associated abdominal fever.

RESUMO

The microflora was studied of the clinical material taken from those patients presenting with different pyo-septic diseases. It has been ascertained that a key role in the etiology of the above diseases must be referred to gramme-positive micro-organisms--to coagulase-negative staphylococci among their number. Of these, S. haemolyticus and S. epidermidis were found with high frequency.
