RESUMO

Non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory agents (NSAIDs), wellknown inhibitors of prostaglandins, have been used in the treatment of biliary and ureteral pain since the end of the 1970s. The efficacy and tolerance of a new injectable formulation of naproxen sodium in ureteral and biliary pain was investigated in 77 out-patients, observed in an emergency ward, and affected by acute lithiasic symptomatology. Forty-four patients received one 275 mg vial of naproxen sodium intramuscularly, while 33 patients were given one vial at the same dosage intravenously. In 56% of the cases complete relief of pain was achieved within 30 minutes of injection, while in 86% pain was completely relieved or greatly decreased within one hour. Side-effects (nausea, vomiting) occurred in three patients, but were linked to a simultaneous aggravation of the ureteral colic.

RESUMO

105 patients with either biliary colics (54) or ureteral colics (51) were treated with rociverine, a new antispastic drug, at a dose of 20 mg iv. The drug showed a rapid and effective spasmolytic activity (total disappearance of painful symptoms in 89% of patients with biliary colic and in 92% of patients with ureteral colic).

RESUMO

A study was carried out to investigate the analgesic effect of an injectable salt of indomethacin - methylglucamine indomethacinate - in patients with acute ureteral and biliary pain. Out of 106 consecutive patients treated by the intramuscular (average dose 72.6 mg) or intravenous (average dose 36.1 mg) route, 76 (71.6%) had complete relief of pain and 4 were remarkably improved. In 68.8% of the cases, complete relief was reached within 1 hour from the start of treatment. No important side-effects were observed. Headache, nausea and drowsiness were reported in a few cases.
