RESUMO

The complete genome sequence of molluscum contagiosum virus 1 (MOCV1) isolate NT2017 was sequenced from a tissue sample from an Australian woman. The genome consisted of 185,655 bp encoding 169 predicted open reading frames. Phylogenetically, isolate NT2017 was most closely related to an MOCV1 strain from Slovenia.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to document the existence of transverse cords in olecranon bursae in patients undergoing excision of the bursa and to describe the unique clinical presentation of patients with these cords. METHODS: A retrospective study was performed on 24 patients who had surgery to excise an olecranon bursa between 2006 and 2011. The patient's history, preoperative radiographs, ultrasound images, intraoperative photographs, and findings on histologic analysis were reviewed in all cases. RESULTS: Nine olecranon bursae had cords (cord group) and 15 did not have cords (noncord group). All patients in the cord group were male manual laborers, and nearly all had olecranon enthesophytes (n = 8). Patients in the noncord group had associated medical conditions or an infection. A higher level of satisfaction was reported in the noncord group after surgical excision. CONCLUSION: This study documents the existence of transverse cords oriented at right angles to the long axis of the olecranon. Olecranon bursae with cords have a unique presentation and are found in male manual workers, are nearly always associated with an olecranon enthesophyte, and do not present with infections.

RESUMO

Left Atrial Thrombus is uncommon in neonates. We present a neonate who had Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia (PSVT), whose echocardiography revealed a large left atrial thrombus which resolved later with treatment. Supra Ventricular Tachycardia (SVT) is not an uncommon event in infants with an incidence of 1:2500.

RESUMO

An Inferior Venacaval (IVC) lumen obstruction, whether it is partial or complete, is not a common phenomenon and it may be caused by the thrombosis or compression which may result from neoplastic or non neoplastic masses. There are cases which are idiopathic and which are typically referred to as membranous obstructions of the IVC. Here, we are presenting a 40 years old male with multiple tortuous veins over the abdomen, with non healing ulcers in the leg for 12 years, without ascites, who underwent a successful percutaneous transluminal balloon dilatation of the IVC membrane which was located above the hepatic veins, which resulted in a successful palliation of his symptoms.

RESUMO

Adenomyomas are circumscribed tumorlike masses most often involving the uterus and consisting of endometrioid glands, stroma, and smooth muscle tissue. They are uncommon in extrauterine sites and in this situation it may be unclear whether such lesions represent foci of endometriosis with marked smooth muscle hyperplasia/metaplasia, uteruslike mass lesions, or leiomyomas with entrapped endometriotic glandular and stromal elements. In this report 2 cases of extrauterine adenomyoma are presented in which the smooth muscle component showed focal atypical (symplastic) cytologic appearances.
