BACKGROUND: Micro RNAs are known as the main regulator of messenger RNA translation in platelets and have a vital role in process of apoptosis during platelet storage. Our pervious study revealed that the expression of miR-145 and miR-326 changed significantly in platelets under maintenance conditions. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of L-carnitine (LC) as an additive to augment platelet quality by changing the microRNA expression. METHODS: We used ten platelet concentrate (PC) bags and divided each into two equal parts, LC- treated, and LC free PC. The expression of miR-145 and miR-326 were determined using real-time PCR. Moreover, we measured platelet count, platelet aggregation, platelet viability, and lactate dehydrogenase activity in all samples. RESULTS: The miR-326 expression significantly increased during platelet storage with mean fold changes of 3.2 for the control and 2.5 for LC- treated PC. The mean fold changes in miR-145 expression was less in the control PC (0.52) compared to the LC- treated PC (0.79). Increased levels of platelet count, platelet aggregation, and platelet viability were found in the LC-treated compared to the untreated PC. CONCLUSION: LC has a protective effect on platelet apoptosis, reduces the expression of apoptotic microRNA, and prevents the reduction of anti-apoptotic microRNA.

Previous studies noted an imbalance in T helper (Th) 17 and regulatory T cells (Tregs) in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), a multiple sclerosis animal model. calcitriol, vitamin D's active form, was found to ameliorate EAE symptoms by favoring Tregss over Th17 cells, suggesting immunomodulatory effects. This study aimed to assess calcitriol's impact on EAE manifestations and cytokine profile in mice. In this study, we recruited twenty-eight C57BL/6 mice and divided them into 4 groups: healthy controls, EAE, EAE with calcitriol treatment, and healthy mice with calcitriol treatment. CD4+ T cells were isolated from splenocytes using magnetic-activated cell sorting. Real-time polymerase chain reaction was employed to quantify the genes associated with Th9 cells (i.e., SPI1 encoding PU.1 and IL9 encoding interleukin [IL]-9). Moreover, the levels of IL-17 and transforming growth factor beta (TGF-ß) were evaluated through enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in the supernatant of CD4+ T cell culture stimulated by anti-CD3 and anti-CD28 antibodies for 72 hours. In the supernatant of CD4+ T cell cultures, the levels of interleukin-17 (IL-17) were significantly increased, while the levels of transforming growth factor beta (TGF-ß) were decreased in the EAE Group compared to the healthy control group. Calcitriol treatment reversed these changes and attenuated EAE symptoms, as confirmed in hematoxylin and eosin, and luxol fast blue stains. Notably, calcitriol increased IL9 gene expression in both EAE and healthy mice.  This study provides further evidence of the anti-inflammatory effects of calcitriol and its role in attenuating EAE.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are effective in hematopoietic engraftment and tissue repair in stem cell transplantation. In addition, these cells control the process of hematopoiesis by secreting growth factors and cytokines. The aim of the present study is to investigate the effect of rat bone marrow (BM)-derived MSCs on the granulocyte differentiation of rat BM-resident C-kit+ hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). The mononuclear cells were collected from rat BM using density gradient centrifugation and MSCs and C-kit+ HSCs were isolated. Then, cells were divided into two groups and differentiated into granulocytes; C-kit+ HSCs alone (control group) and co-cultured C-kit+ HSCs with MSCs (experimental group). Subsequently, the granulocyte-differentiated cells were collected and subjected to real-time PCR and Western blotting for the assessment of their telomere length (TL) and protein expressions, respectively. Afterwards, culture medium was collected to measure cytokine levels. CD34, CD16, CD11b, and CD18 granulocyte markers expression levels were significantly increased in the experimental group compared to the control group. A significant change was also observed in the protein expression of Wnt and ß-catenin. In addition, MSCs caused an increase in the TL of granulocyte-differentiated cells. MSCs could affect the granulocyte differentiation of C-kit+ HSCs via increasing TL and Wnt/ß-catenin protein expression.

INTRODUCTION: Haemophilia is the most common severe congenital bleeding disorder and can significantly influence patients' quality of life. The health-related quality of life (HRQoL) is a multi-dimensional concept that assess effect of different aspects of health status, including physical, mental, and social domains. Identification of the factors affecting the HRQoL of Persons with Haemophilia (PWH) can guide health care system to better management of patients. AIM: The aim of the present study is to evaluate HRQoL in PWH in Afghanistan. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 100 PWH in Kabul City, Afghanistan. Data were collected using 36-Item-Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36) questionnaire and analysed using correlation coefficients and regression analysis. RESULTS: The mean scores for the SF-36 questionnaire 8 domains range from 33 ± 38.3 to 58.15 ± 20.5. The highest mean value belongs to physical function (PF) (58.15), whereas the lowest is related to restriction of activities due to emotional problems (RE) (33.00). A significant association (p < .005) was observed between all domains of SF-36 and patients' age except for PF (p = .055) and general health (GH) (p = .75). A significant association was also observed between all HRQoL domains and the severity of haemophilia (p < .001). The severity of haemophilia was the significant predictor for Physical Component Summary (PCS) and Mental Component Summary (MCS) (p < .001). CONCLUSION: Due to the reduced HRQoL in Afghan PWH, special attention by health care system should be paid to improve patients' quality of life.

PURPOSE: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are regulatory molecules capable of positively or negatively regulating signaling pathways, and are involved in tumorigenesis as well as various aspects of cancer. The purpose of this study was to investigate the expression levels of miR-133a, miR-637, and miR-944 in serum and tumor tissues as well as their relationship with the expression level of phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI3K) and protein kinase-B (AKT) genes and proteins along with their clinical significance in breast cancer. METHODS: The expressions of miR-133a, miR-637, miR-944, PI3K, and AKT genes were examined in the tumor and tumor margin tissues of 40 patients with breast cancer, as well as the serum levels of miR-133a, miR-637, and miR-944 in these patients and 40 healthy groups by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR). PI3K and AKT proteins expression in tumor and tumor margin tissues were detected using immunohistochemistry (IHC). RESULTS: The expression levels of miR-133a and miR-637 in the tumor tissue and serum of patients were lower than those in the tumor margin tissue and serum of the healthy group, respectively. In addition, the expression level of miR-944 in the tumor tissue was lower than that in the tumor margin tissue, but its expression increased in the serum of cancer patients compared to that in the healthy group. The expression of miR-637 was correlated with tumor location and Her2 receptors, and the expression of miR-944 was correlated with tumor location and family history. PI3K and AKT mRNA and protein levels were higher in the tumor tissues than in the tumor margin tissues (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The results of our study revealed that miR-637 has a better diagnostic value in breast cancer than miR-133a and miR-944.

Breast cancer is a multifactorial disease, and among the many factors which are involved in the onset, progression, and invasion of the disease, oxidative stress plays a significant role. The concentration and activity of enzymatic antioxidants are proportional to the concentration of trace elements, and the concentration of trace elements is often deficient in malignancies. Therefore, in the present study, we studied the tissue levels of oxidative stress, antioxidant status, zinc (Zn), and copper (Cu) in breast cancer patients. Tissue samples were collected from 40 patients with breast cancer and 40 tumor margin tissue as a control group. All subjects gave their informed consent. The tissue samples were measured for superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPX), total antioxidants capacity (TAC), total oxidant status (TOS), oxidative stress index (OSI), malondialdehyde (MDA), Zn, and Cu. Data of all biochemical parameters of two groups were statistically analyzed by SPSS software, t test, and GraphPad Prism. Concentrations of MDA, TOS, and OSI in tumor tissue were significantly higher than tumor margin tissue, but the level of TAC and CAT, SOD, and GPX activities was significantly reduced in tumor tissue (p<0.05). It was found that the concentrations of Zn and Cu in breast cancer patients were higher than tumor margin tissue. Patients with breast cancer have a rise in oxidative stress indicators and a decrease in antioxidant stress markers. Since oxidative stress is a significant contributor to the development and progression of breast cancer, more research might lead to a more effective method of breast cancer treatment. Considering the dual role of oxidative stress in cancer, which can both cause survival and adaptation, and the death of cancer cells, and with more information, it can be used to manage the treatment and destruction of cancer cells.

Background: Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death in women worldwide. This causes an increase in free radicals, resulting in oxidative stress. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of breast cancer on oxidative stress and its relationship with hematological indices. Methods: This case-control study included 43 women with breast cancer and 37 age-matched healthy controls. Oxidative stress and its correlation with hematological profiles over seven months were evaluated. Finally, the data were compared between the two groups using the t-test and Pearson's test, and the results were analyzed using the SPSS 24 software. Results: The results revealed that patients with breast cancer had significantly increased hemoglobin (HB), hematocrit (HCT), mean corpuscular volume (MCV), and mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH) levels compared with healthy subjects (p < 0.05). In addition, oxidative stress parameters, such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), total oxidant status (TOS), and total antioxidant capacity (TAC), were significantly elevated. Glutathione peroxidase (GPX) and malondialdehyde (MDA) were significantly lower in patients with breast cancer than in the control group (p < 0.05). Statistical significance in hematological indices showed a positive or negative correlation with oxidative stress parameters. Conclusion: Women with breast cancer showed a deranged complete blood count (CBC) pattern compared to healthy individuals.

Objectives: Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are the cells that give rise to different types of blood cells during the hematopoiesis process. Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) as key elements in the bone marrow (BM) niche interact with hematopoietic progenitor cells (HPCs) by secreting cytokines, which control HPCs maintenance and fate. Here we report that BM-MSCs are capable of inducing granulocytic differentiation of the C-Kit+ HSCs via activating JAK3/STAT3, ERK, and PI3K signaling pathways. Materials and Methods: For this purpose, BM-MSCs and C-kit+ HSCs were isolated. Next, cells were divided into two groups and differentiated into granulocytes: C-kit+ HSCs alone (control group) and co-cultured C-kit+ HSCs with MSCs (experimental group). Afterward, the gene and protein expression were assessed by real-time PCR and western blotting, respectively. Results: It was found that BM-MSCs resulted in increased JAK3/STAT3, ERK, and PI3K protein expression in granulocyte differentiated C-kit+ HSCs. Conclusion: It should be concluded that MSCs could affect the granulocyte differentiation of C-kit+ HSCs via increasing JAK3/STAT3, ERK, and PI3K signaling pathways.

BACKGROUND: Obesity is a major public health concern in developed and even developing countries worldwide. Adiponectin is a protein secreted by adipose tissue that modulates many metabolic processes and plays a vital role in obesity. This study aimed to determine the association of four variants of the ADIPOQ gene with serum adiponectin, cortisol levels and obesity status. METHODS: This case-control study was performed on 164 obese individuals compared by 156 control from the Tehran Lipid and Glucose Study (TLGS). Standard procedures obtained anthropometric measures and metabolic parameters. Cortisol and adiponectin levels were measured by ELISA method. rs1501299, rs266729, rs17300539, and rs17366743 on the ADIPOQ gene were genotyped using the PCR-RFLP. The correlation between adiponectin gene SNPs and obesity were calculated by Additive, dominant, and recessive genetic models. Pearson's or Spearman's found correlations between adiponectin levels and metabolic and anthropometric variables. Data were analyzed using SPSS software Version 20. RESULTS: Adiponectin and cortisol levels were significantly lower in obese subjects compared to the control group (p < 0.05). There was a significant negative correlation between serum adiponectin level and BMI, waist circumference (WC), waist-hip ratio, hip circumference (HC), Fasting blood sugar (FBS) Triglyceride (TG), Total cholesterol (TC), Systolic blood pressure (SBP), Diastolic blood pressure (DBP) (r = - 0.147, r = - 0.324, r = 0.371, r = - 0.179, r = - 0.299, r = - 0.277, r = - 0.041, r = - 0.134, and r = - 0.149, respectively). A positive correlation was found between adiponectin and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) (r = 0.29), but no significant correlations were found between adiponectin and Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) and cortisol. ADIPOQ variant rs1501299 was significantly associated with cortisol levels in subjects with BMI ≥ 25 (P-value =0.039). CONCLUSIONS: Adiponectin and cortisol levels were associated with obesity. No ADIPOQ gene variants and haplotypes were associated with cortisol, Adiponectin, and obesity.

In newly improved MACS-Up method, magnetic field has been applied to separate non-apoptotic spermatozoa directly from the neat semen. The spermatozoa during passing through a viscous layer, located on the neat semen, contacted with progesterone and induced for the capacitation. Then, a clean population of non-apoptotic, and capacitated spermatozoa were selected in the pure culture media. Selected spermatozoa may be useful for use in ART. The 80 semen samples from normozoospermic individuals were divided separately into 4 attempts. Semen analysis, SCSA (sperm chromatin structure assay), FLICA (fluorescein-labelled inhibitors of caspase) methods, immunoassay of phosphorylation of tyrosine residues of sperm proteins, nuclear DNA integrity, caspase 3 activity and sperm capacitation rate were all performed for evaluation of sperm parameters respectively. To examine all aspects, the MACS-Up method compared with DGC (density gradient centrifuging) and MACS-DGC methods separately. This method can isolate non-apoptotic spermatozoa directly from the neat semen, which has similar performance compared to the MACS-DGC method. Movement and passing spermatozoa through the viscous layer, and contact with progesterone, significantly induced spermatozoa for capacitation compared with the control group. Also, the MACS-Up in comparison with routine DGC method could select spermatozoa with significantly higher total and progressive motility, DNA integrity, induced sperm population for capacitation and normal morphology. MACS-Up can be developed as an effective, short-time, and ease of performing method and used practically to select functional spermatozoa as novel sperm selection procedure. However, for clinical use of MACS-Up, all clinical aspects of this method should be considered and evaluated.

Platelet concentrates (PC) are affected by biochemical, morphological and functional changes during storage that are named platelet storage lesion (PSL) can decrease the survival and quality of platelets. The potential role and importance of the microRNAs in diagnosis of this process could be remarkable. The aim of this study was to determine miR-145 and miR-326 associated with apoptosis during PC storage. Ten PC prepared by platelet-rich plasma method were selected by simple random sampling in Iranian Blood Transfusion Organization. The expression pattern of miR-326 and miR-145 during PC storage for 7 days was determined by quantitative Real-time RT-PCR, and then the relationship between expression levels of both microRNAs and some PC quality markers was investigated. Glucose concentration, cell viability, platelet count and aggregation during storage showed a significant decrease compared to day zero (P < 0.05). Reduction of these variables showed a direct correlation with a significant decreasing trend in expression level of miR-145 (r = 0.94, 0.98, 0.96 and r = 0.99, P = 0.01). Lactate dehydrogenase activity showed a significant increase during platelet storage compared to day zero (P < 0.05), which was directly correlated with increased expression of miR-326 (r = 0.97, P = 0.01). Changes in the expression pattern of miR-326 and miR-145 along with biochemical markers, all indicate a decrease in platelet quality during 7 days of storage. Due to the significant correlation between the expression changes of miR-326 and miR-145 with PC quality markers, it seems both of these microRNAs can be considered as remarkable markers for early diagnosis of the PC quality during storage.

Aquaporins play a crucial in transportation of water and solutes across cell membranes but their roles in male fertility are controversial. This study aimed to determine association of the expression level of aquaporin-3 (AQP3) and caspase-3 (CASP3) activity with sperm motility in asthenozoospermic individuals. Thirty-five asthenozoospermic and 35 normozoospermic individuals, participated in this study. Sperm chromatin structure assay (SCSA) for estimating of the DNA-damaged spermatozoa and Fluorescein-labelled inhibitors of caspases for assessment of active CASP3 were used by flow cytometry. Gene and protein expressions of AQP3 and CASP3 were assessed by real-time PCR and flow cytometry respectively. The AQP3 gene expression level in asthenozoospermic individuals was significantly lower than that of normozoospermic group whereas it was higher for the CASP3 gene expression (p < .01). The SCSA data in asthenozoospermic was significantly higher than that of normozoospermic group (p < .01). There was a negative and significant correlation between attenuated AQP3 protein level with activated CASP3 and SCSA in the asthenozoospermic group. We showed that the attenuated AQP3 level may contribute to low sperm motility via reducing glycerol for energy production in sperm tails of asthenozoospermia. Increasing CASP3 activity could indirectly show the status of active apoptosis in individuals with asthenozoospermia.

Vitamin D plays a variety of physiological functions, such as regulating mineral homeostasis. More recently, it has emerged as an immunomodulator player, affecting several types of immune cells, such as regulatory T (Treg) cells. It has been reported that vitamin D exerts some mediatory effects through an epigenetic mechanism. In this study, the impacts of calcitriol, the active form of vitamin D, on the methylation of the conserved non-coding sequence 2 (CNS2) region of the forkhead box P3 (Foxp3) gene promoter, were evaluated. Fourteen C57BL/6 mice were recruited in this study and divided into two intervention and control groups. The CD4+ T cells were isolated from mice splenocytes. The expression of Foxp3, IL-10, and transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-ß1) genes were relatively quantified by real-time PCR technique, and the DNA methylation percentage of every CpG site in the CNS2 region was measured individually by bisulfite-sequencing PCR. Vitamin D Intervention significantly (p<0.05) could increase the expression of Foxp3, IL-10, and TGF-ß1 gene in the CD4+ T cells of mice comparing with the control group. Meanwhile, methylation of the CNS2 region of Foxp3 promoter was significantly decreased in three of ten CpG sites in the vitamin D group compared to the control group. The results of this study showed that vitamin D can engage the methylation process to induce Foxp3 gene expression and probably Treg cytokines profile. Further researches are needed to discover the precise epigenetic mechanisms by which vitamin D modulates the immune system.

BACKGROUND: The adult human heart muscle cells, cardiomyocytes are not capable of regenerate after injury. Stem cells are a powerful means for future regenerative medicine because of their capacity for self-renewal and multipotency. Several studies have reported the cardiogenic potential in human adipose tissue-derived stem cells (ADSCs) differentiation, but there is still no efficient protocol for the induction of cardiac differentiation by 5-azacytidine (5-Aza). The present study involves characterization and mainly, the ultrastructure of ADSCs derived cardiomyocyte-like cells. METHODS: The cultured ADSCs were treated with 50 µM 5-Aza for 24 hours, followed by a 10-week extension. At different time points, cardiomyocyte-like cells were assessed by qRT-PCR and were evaluated by transmission electron microscopy at 10th week. RESULTS: The expression of cardiac-specific markers entailing cardiac troponin I (cTnI), connexin 43, myosin light chain-2v (Mlc-2v), increased over 10 weeks and the highest expression was at 10th week. The expression of the ß-myosin heavy chain (ß-MHC) increased significantly over 5 weeks and then decreased. At the ultrastructural level myofibrils, transverse tubules (T-tubules), sarcoplasmic reticular membrane, and intercalated discs were present. CONCLUSIONS: These data suggest that treatment with 5-Aza in high dose could promote differentiation of ADSCs into cardiomyocyte-like cells. These differentiated cells could be used for regeneration of damaged cardiomyocytes with the 3D scaffold for delivery of the cells.

BACKGROUND: Hemophilia is a rare inherited disorder associated with abnormal repeated bleeding and debilitating joint pain due to deficiency in coagulating factors VIII and IX. This study aimed to provide an updated account on the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in children with hemophilia in Afghanistan. METHODS: This cross-sectional study included 65 randomly selected hemophiliacs out of 350 children registered with the Afghanistan Hemophilia Patient Association (AHPA). The patients were 8-16 years old and voluntarily entered the study. Data were collected through a demographic questionnaire and a Persian version of Haemo-QoL Questionnaire (short version) for children aged 8-16 years. RESULTS: The patients' age averaged 12.9 ± 3.9 years with a mean QoL score of 75.9 ± 17.4. The patients were suffering from hemophilia A, mostly the severe type (80%). They were born to low income families (95 %) with high illiteracy rates (>50%) and hemophilia family history (90%). Spearman test showed a significant correlation between age and QoL scores (r = 0.8, P = 0.02). One-way ANOVA indicated no significant difference between QoL scores of patients categorized based on hemophilia severity (P = 0.2, F = 1.3), family incomes (P = 0.9, F = 0.01) and parents' levels of education (P = 0.2-0.4, F = 0.82-1.3). The Cronbach alpha for the instrument was 0.82. CONCLUSION: Regardless of hemophilia severity, Family and Sports were the most impaired domains of QoL. Herein, we have presented the first reliable and updated data on hemophiliacs' demographic characteristics and their quality of life in Kabul.

This study evaluated the potential impacts of supplementation with betalain-rich extracts of foods on some atherosclerotic risk factors in coronary artery disease patients. During an acute phase, 48 male patients received about 50 mg betalain/betacyanin, and their blood and urine samples were collected at 3, 8, and 24 hours after supplementations. Also, in a pilot randomized crossover trial, these participants were allocated to two-week interventions (a betacyanin-rich supplement of Opuntia stricta, a betalain-rich supplement of red beetroot and a placebo) with two-week washout periods. Then, their plasma samples were collected at the baseline after a two-week period. The concentrations of betanin in plasma and urine samples were determined using HPLC. Also, homocysteine and glucose levels, lipid profile, and blood pressure were analyzed. Additionally, quality of life and dietary intake were assessed. After these interventions, minimal amounts of betanin were found in plasma and about 0.13-0.93% in urine. Also, both supplements significantly decreased the concentration of homocysteine, glucose, total cholesterol, triglyceride, and LDL. Also, betalain-rich supplements lowered both systolic and diastolic blood pressures. Nevertheless, the clinically meaningful changes were only found in the case of Hcy, LDL, and non-HDL-c concentrations. It seems that food sources of betalains can be considered as functional foods because they improve the lipid profile and levels of homocysteine, glucose, blood pressure, and quality of life to some extent.

Betalains are unique nitrogen-containing pigments found exclusively in families of the Caryophyllales order and some higher order fungi, where they replace anthocyanin pigments. Betalains, consisting of betacyanins and betaxanthins are generally used as color additives in food. This review discusses on the favorable effects of acute and chronic consumption of betalains, whose edible sources consist primarily of red beetroots (Beta vulgaris) and prickly pears (fruit of the Opuntia genus of cacti). Moreover, it encompasses in vivo and in vitro studies about the bioavailability and bioaccessibility of betanin and indicaxanthin. It seems that treatment with betalains and betalain-rich diets is not only nontoxic but could also prove to be a promising alternative to supplement therapies in oxidative stress-, inflammation-, and dyslipidemia-related diseases such as stenosis of the arteries, atherosclerosis, hypertension, and cancer, among others. Due to its toxicological safety, accessibility, low price, biodegradability, and potentially advantageous biological effects on health, the incorporation of betalains in food manufacturing and related industries could pave the way to overcome current concerns over the health risks of artificial colors. Nevertheless, further studies using pure betalains are required to gain a deeper understanding of their precise biological functions.

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between p16 methylation and its expression in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Also the contribution of clinicopathological factors, HPV infection and smoking in p16 expression and promoter methylation has been investigated. In this study 67 consecutive OSCC patients and 59 normal individuals were enrolled. All patients were candidates for surgery of oral cavity and fresh tumor biopsies were collected and processed for DNA and RNA extraction. Normal gingival tissues were collected from individuals referred to dentistry clinic and considered as controls. All the cases and controls were checked for HPV infection and then promoter methylation and expression of p16 gene were determined using Methylation-specific PCR (MSP) and real-time PCR (QPCR), respectively. Methylation of p16 in tumors and normal tissues were 59.7 and 38.9%, respectively. Most of hypermethylated samples (>82%) were in high grades. P16 methylation was comparable in HPV+ and HPV- patients or smokers. P16 was overexpressed (~3 fold; p = 0.044) in HPV+ tumors, but it was significantly down-regulated in smoker patients (40% of all tumors). Comparison of P16 expression in OSCC tumors with different degrees of promoter methylation further suggest the relationship of methylation rate and down-regulation of P16 expression. The p16 methylation and expression was differentially affected in patients with HPV infection and the smoker cases. Regardless of the influence of environmental factors, it appears that P16 status is useful for classifying patients with OSCC and for influencing treatment strategies in accordance with this classification. Moreover, targeting the upregulation of p16 could be a promising therapeutic option.
