RESUMO

Skin wound infection has become a global clinical problem in recent years. Curcumin (Cur) and polylysine (PLL) are natural products with strong antibacterial properties. However, the poor water solubility and low stability of Cur and the cationic toxicity of PLL limit their application. In this study, we synthesized a macromolecular hyaluronic acid (HA)-curcumin drug (HC) via esterification. HC was attracted by electrostatic interactions with positively charged PLL to form a spherical nanocomplex (HCP) with hyaluronidase (HAase) and pH dual response under ultrasonication. HCP was found to target the bacterial infection microenvironment and release Cur and PLL for synergistic antibacterial action. In addition, HCP was proven to exhibit good biocompatibility and broad spectrum antibacterial activity to bacterial strains S. aureus and E. coli and antibacterial biofilm activities in vitro. In vivo experiments showed that HCP could inhibit pathogens and promote wound healing. These results prove that HCP can be used as a new strategy for the treatment and management of infected wounds.

RESUMO

Lung cancer remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related mortality worldwide necessitating the development of innovative therapeutic strategies. Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) natural killer (NK) cell therapy represents a promising advancement in the field of oncology offering a novel approach to target and eliminate tumor cells with high specificity and reduced risk of immune-related adverse effects. This paper reviews the mechanism, potential targets, and recent advances in CAR-NK cell therapy for lung cancer, including the design and engineering of CAR-NK cells, preclinical studies, and the outcomes of early-phase clinical trials. We highlight the unique advantages of using NK cells, such as their innate ability to recognize and kill cancer cells and their reduced potential for inducing graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) and cytokine release syndrome (CRS) compared to CAR T-cell therapies. Results from recent studies demonstrate significant antitumor activity in lung cancer models with improved targeting and persistence of CAR-NK cells observed in vitro and in vivo. Finally, we discuss the challenges in optimizing CAR-NK cell therapies, including the potential resistance mechanisms. The paper concludes with an outlook on the future directions of CAR-NK cell research and its implications for lung cancer treatment emphasizing the importance of continued innovation and collaboration in the field.

RESUMO

Background: Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is the main cause of end-stage renal disease and has a high mortality rate. Currently, no effective treatments are available to reduce the progression of kidney damage associated with diabetes. Objectives: To explore the influence and predictive value of the atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) on early chronic kidney disease and liver injury in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods: Medical records of 1057 hospitalized adult patients with T2DM between January 2021 and December 2022 were collected. The predictive value of AIP, renal function, and liver injury in patients with T2DM were analyzed using Pearson's correlation, multiple logistic regression, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analyses. Results: AIP was a sensitive indicator of early liver and kidney injury in patients with T2DM. Patients in the DKD group showed increased AIP that positively correlated with serum creatinine, uric acid, and ß2-microglobulin levels. Increased AIP negatively correlated with estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). AIP significantly correlated with alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase levels and glutamyl transpeptidase-to-platelet ratio (GPR). An eGFR of 60-100 mL/min/1.73 m2 significantly increased the risk of DKD as the AIP increased. At lower GPR levels, the risk of DKD significantly increased with increasing AIP. However, no significant difference was found between the 2 groups when the GPR was >0.1407. The ROC curve analysis showed that AIP could predict early liver injury. Conclusions: AIP is directly involved in early liver and kidney injury in T2DM and may be a sensitive indicator for early detection.

Diabetes and its complications are a global public health concern. Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is the main cause of end-stage renal disease, and metabolism-related disease factors are found throughout the progression of DKD. This study identified common sensitive indicators of early metabolism-related damage to liver and kidney function in patients with T2DM.

RESUMO

A highly enantioselective 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of ethoxyformylmethylene oxindole with iminoesters has been achieved using the Cu(I)-(S,Sp)-Ph Phosferrox catalytic system, generating a series of chiral spiro[pyrrolidin-3,3'-oxindole] compounds with four consecutive stereocenters, including a spirocycle quaternary center (71%-99% yield, up to >20:1 dr and 95:5 er). The compounds exhibited good inhibitory activity against Valsa mali (V.m.), Fusarium oxysporium (F.o.), and Alternaria brassicae (A.b.).

RESUMO

The aggregation of graphene oxide (GO) during the hydration process limits its wide application. Polymer superplasticizers have been used to improve the dispersion state of GO due to their adsorption and site-blocking effects, though the formation of a large amount of foam during the mixing process weakens the mechanical properties of cement. A highly dispersed amphoteric polycarboxylate superplasticizer-stabilized graphene oxide (APC/GO) toughening agent was prepared by electrostatic self-assembly. Results demonstrate that the APC/GO composite dispersed well in a cement pore solution due to the steric effect offered by the APC. Additionally, the well-dispersed GO acted as an antifoaming agent in the cement since GO nanosheets can be absorbed at the air-liquid interface of APC foam via electrostatic interactions and eliminate the air-entraining effect. The well-dispersed APC/GO sheets promoted cement hydration and further refined its pore structure owing to the nucleation effect. The flexural and compressive strength of the cement containing the APC/GO composite were enhanced by 21.51% and 18.58%, respectively, after a 7-day hydration process compared with a blank sample. The improved hydration degree, highly polymerized C-S-H gel, and refined pore structure provided enhanced mechanical properties.

RESUMO

BACKGROUNDS: The efficacy of endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) to treat poorly differentiated superficial esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (SESCC) is unclear. AIMS: To exploring the efficacy and prognosis of ESD treatment poorly differentiated SESCC compared with esophagectomy. METHODS: A retrospective cohort study was conducted, the data of poorly differentiated SESCC patients who received ESD or esophagectomy from Jan 2011 to Jan 2021 were analyzed. Overall survival (OS), disease-specific survival (DSS), recurrence-free survival (RFS), and procedure-related variables were compared between ESD and esophagectomy group. RESULTS: 95 patients underwent ESD, while 86 underwent esophagectomy. No significant differences were found between the two groups in OS (P = 0.587), DSS (P = 0.172), and RFS (P = 0.111). Oncologic outcomes were also similar between the two groups in propensity score-matched analysis. For T1a ESCC, the rates of R0 resection, LVI or nodal metastasis and additional therapy were similar between ESD and esophagectomy groups. But for T1b ESCC, the rates of positive resection margin and additional therapy were significantly higher in ESD group than those in esophagectomy group. CONCLUSIONS: ESD is a minimally invasive procedure that has comparable oncologic outcomes with esophagectomy for treatment poorly differentiated T1a ESCC. However, ESD is not suitable for poorly differentiated T1b ESCC, additional surgery or radiochemotherapy should be required.

RESUMO

Background: Papillary renal neoplasm with reverse polarity (PRNRP) is a novel entity with unique clinicopathological characteristics, and only a small number of patients with PRNRP have been described. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the data for nine patients with PRNRP and evaluated differences in the clinical, histomorphological, immunohistochemical, and molecular features; prognosis; and differential diagnosis of PRNRP from other renal tumors with papillary structure. Results: There were six males and three females aged 36 to 74 years (mean: 62.33 years; median: 68 years). All the tumors were solitary and ranged from 1 to 3.7 cm (mean: 2.17 cm; median: 2 cm), with three and six tumors arose in the left and right renal tract, respectively. Pathologically, PRNRP is a small, well-circumscribed neoplasm with predominant papillary formations. The lining epithelium is composed of a monolayer of cuboidal to low-columnar cells with low-grade nuclei arranged against the apical pole of the tumor cells. Edema, mucinous degeneration, and hyaline degeneration are found in the fibrovascular cores. Foamy macrophages, psammoma bodies, hemosiderin deposition, and infiltrative tumor boundaries were present in some patients. Immunohistochemically, all tumors showed diffuse positive staining for GATA3. Sanger sequencing confirmed the presence of KRAS mutation in seven patients. All patients had a good prognosis after surgery and were relapse free. Positive staining for GATA3 and negative staining for vimentin were the most significant markers for differentiating PRNRP from other renal tumors with analogous structure. Conclusions: These findings suggested that PRNRP is a distinctive subtype of renal tumor with specific pathological features and indolent behaviors that should be distinguished from other renal tumors, especially papillary renal cell carcinoma. A monolayer of tumor cells with an inverted nuclear pattern, positive staining for GATA3, and KRAS mutation are essential for pathological diagnosis. Owing to its satisfactory prognosis, the surveillance and follow-up of patients with PRNRP should be additionally formulated.

RESUMO

Phytopathogenic fungi cause plant diseases and economic losses in agriculture. To efficiently control plant pathogen infections, a total of 19 spirotryprostatin A derivatives and 26 spirooxindole derivatives were designed, synthesized, and tested for their antifungal activity against ten plant pathogens. Additionally, the intermediates of spirooxindole derivatives were investigated, including proposing a mechanism for diastereoselectivity and performing amplification experiments. The bioassay results demonstrated that spirotryprostatin A derivatives possess good and broad-spectrum antifungal activities. Compound 4d exhibited excellent antifungal activity in vitro, equal to or higher than the positive control ketoconazole, against Helminthosporium maydis, Trichothecium roseum, Botrytis cinerea, Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, Fusarium graminearum, Alternaria brassicae, Alternaria alternate, and Fusarium solan (MICs: 8-32 µg/mL). Compound 4k also displayed remarkable antifungal activity against eight other phytopathogenic fungi, including Fusarium oxysporium f. sp. niveum and Mycosphaerella melonis (MICs: 8-32 µg/mL). The preliminary structure-activity relationships (SARs) were further discussed. Moreover, molecular docking studies revealed that spirotryprostatin A derivatives anchored in the binding site of succinate dehydrogenase (SDH). Therefore, these compounds showed potential as natural compound-based chiral fungicides and hold promise as candidates for further enhancements in terms of structure and properties.

RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the value of plasma cells for diagnosing lymph node diseases. Methods: Common lymphadenopathy (except plasma cell neoplasms) diagnosed from September 2012 to August 2022 were selected from the pathological records of Changhai Hospital, Shanghai, China. Morphological and immunohistochemical features were analyzed to examine the infiltration pattern, clonality, and IgG and IgG4 expression of plasma cells in these lymphadenopathies, and to summarize the differential diagnoses of plasma cell infiltration in common lymphadenopathies. Results: A total of 236 cases of lymphadenopathies with various degrees of plasma cell infiltration were included in the study. There were 58 cases of Castleman's disease, 55 cases of IgG4-related lymphadenopathy, 14 cases of syphilitic lymphadenitis, 2 cases of rheumatoid lymphadenitis, 18 cases of Rosai-Dorfman disease, 23 cases of Kimura's disease, 13 cases of dermal lymphadenitis and 53 cases of angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL). The main features of these lymphadenopathies were lymph node enlargement with various degrees of plasm cell infiltration. A panel of immunohistochemical antibodies were used to examine the distribution of plasma cells and the expression of IgG and IgG4. The presence of lymph node architecture could help determine benign and malignant lesions. The preliminary classification of these lymphadenopathies was based on the infiltration features of plasma cells. The evaluation of IgG and IgG4 as a routine means could exclude the lymph nodes involvement of IgG4-related dieases (IgG4-RD), and whether it was accompanied by autoimmune diseases or multiple-organ diseases, which were of critical evidence for the differential diagnosis. For common lesions of lymphadenopathies, such as Castleman's disease, Kimura's disease, Rosai-Dorfman's disease and dermal lymphadenitis, the expression ratio of IgG4/IgG (>40%) as detected using immunhistochemistry and serum IgG4 levels should be considered as a standard for the possibility of IgG4-RD. The differential diagnosis of multicentric Castleman's diseases and IgG4-RD should be also considered. Conclusions: Infiltration of plasma cells and IgG4-positive plasma cells may be detected in some types of lymphadenopathies and lymphomas in clinicopathological daily practice, but not all of them are related to IgG4-RD. It should be emphasized that the characteristics of plasma cell infiltration and the ratio of IgG4/IgG (>40%) should be considered for further differential diagnosis and avoiding misclassification of lymphadenopathies.

RESUMO

Online gradient extraction-high performance liquid chromatography( HPLC) method was developed for simultaneous determination of high and low polar components in Cordyceps. The sample powder of Cordyceps was uniformly mixed with diatomaceous earth, packed into extraction tank, and installed into the HPLC system. Online gradient extraction was conducted with mobile phase at 70 ℃. The separation was performed on Zorbax SB-AQ( 4. 6 mm×150 mm,5 μm) column with 0. 1% formic acid solution-methanol as the mobile phase for gradient elution at 1. 0 mL·min~(-1). The column temperature was 30 ℃,and detection wavelength was set at 260 nm. The results showed that the high and low polar components in Cordyceps could be simultaneously extracted and separated by the developed method. Meanwhile, six high polar compounds( uracil, uridine, thymine, inosine, guanosine and adenosine) and one low polar compound( ergosterol) were identified by comparison with the reference peaks. The established method is rapid, stable and environment friendly, which is helpful to improve the quality evaluation level for Cordyceps.

RESUMO

Objective: To evaluate the clinicopathologic features of Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD) , and elucidate the potential pathogenesis by whole exome sequencing (WES) . Methods: Clinico-pathological data of 23 RDD patients diagnosed between 2010 and 2018 in Changhai hospital were reviewed, and 9 paraffin-embedded specimens were performed for WES. Results: The median age of 23 RDD patients was 47 (10-79) years. Of them, 19 cases had extranodal lesions, 3 had nodal lesions, and 1 had nodal and extranodal lesions coincidently. All patients received surgery for lesion resection. Histiocytosis in lymph node sinuses or in extranodal tissues accompanied by lymphocyte phagocytosis are typical pathological features of RDD. Immunohistochemical staining shows histocytes are positive for S100, CD68 and CDl63, and negative for CD1a. mTOR, KMT2D and NOTCH1 mutations were detected with WES in these cases. Conclusion: Mutations in mTOR, KMT2D and NOTCH1 genes may be involved in the pathogenesis of RDD, and their clinical significance needs to be further studied.

RESUMO

An online SPE-HPLC method for simultaneous determination of cordycepin (3'-deoxyadenosine) and 2'-deoxyadenosine in Cordyceps genus (C. sinensis,C. militaris,Hirsutella sinensis and C. sobolifera) was developed. The samples were enriched on a ZORBAX SB-AQ (4.6 mm×12.5 mm,5 μm) column with isocratic elution by 9% methanol solution. The separation of analytes was performed on a ZORBAX SB-AQ (4.6 mm×150 mm,5 μm) column with gradient elution by 0.1% formic acid solution and methanol (91∶9). The flow rate was 1.0 mL•min⁻¹. Column temperature was 40 ℃ and detection wavelength was 260 nm. This method has been applied for analysis of different Cordyceps genus. The 2'-deoxyadenosine was detected in C. sinensis,Hirsutella sinensis and C. sobolifera. The cordycepin was detected in C. militaris. In summary, the cordycepin chromatographic peak from C. sinensis in some past reports may be the 2'-deoxyadenosine chromatographic peak or the mixture peak of 2'-deoxyadenosine and cordycepin in which 2'-deoxyadenosine content was higher than cordycepin. The developed method is suitable for analysis of cordycepin and 2'-deoxyadenosine in Cordyceps genus.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES@#To observe and analyze the confirmed cases of paternity testing, and to explore the mutation rules of STR loci.@*METHODS@#The mutant STR loci were screened from 20 723 confirmed cases of paternity testing by Goldeneye 20A system. The mutation rates, and the sources, fragment length, steps and increased or decreased repeat sequences of mutant alleles were counted for the analysis of the characteristics of mutation-related factors.@*RESULTS@#A total of 548 mutations were found on 19 STR loci, and 557 mutation events were observed. The loci mutation rate was 0.07‰-2.23‰. The ratio of paternal to maternal mutant events was 3.06:1. One step mutation was the main mutation, and the number of the increased repeat sequences was almost the same as the decreased repeat sequences. The repeat sequences were more likely to decrease in two steps mutation and above. Mutation mainly occurred in the medium allele, and the number of the increased repeat sequences was almost the same as the decreased repeat sequences. In long allele mutations, the decreased repeat sequences were significantly more than the increased repeat sequences. The number of the increased repeat sequences was almost the same as the decreased repeat sequences in paternal mutation, while the decreased repeat sequences were more than the increased in maternal mutation.@*CONCLUSIONS@#There are significant differences in the mutation rate of each locus. When one or two loci do not conform to the genetic law, other detection system should be added, and PI value should be calculated combined with the information of the mutate STR loci in order to further clarify the identification opinions.

RESUMO

To compare the main nucleosides in Cordyceps genus herbs (C. sinensis, C. millitaris, Hirsutella sinensis and C. sobolifera), an HPLC method for simultaneous determination of uridine, inosine, guanosine, adenosine and cordycepine in Cordyceps genus herbs was developed. The sample was extracted with 0.5% phosphoric acid solution to prepare test solution. The separation was performed on a Zorbax SB-Aq (4.6 mm×150 mm, 5 μm) column with gradient elution by 0.04 mol•L⁻¹ potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution and acetonitrile, column temperature 30 ℃,flow rate 0.8 mL•min⁻¹,and detection wavelength 260 nm. The content of nucleosides in four Cordyceps genus herbs was evaluated by fingerprint analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA). The calibration curves of five nucleosides showed good linear regression (r>0.99) and the average recoveries were between 95.0% and 105.0%. The contents of the five nucleosides in the four Cordyceps genus herbs were different and could be obviously distinguished by HCA. The fingerprint analysis result showed that the similarity between C. sinensis and the others was less than 0.9. The method was accurate and reliable, which can be used for quality control of Cordyceps genus herbs.

RESUMO

<p><b>BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE</b>Amyloid deposition is rare. If there was a great amount of amyloid depositions in the skin tissue, it would be considered to be amyloid deposition disease at first, and then primary cutaneous marginal zone B-cell lymphoma (PCMZL). This study was to analyze the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of two cases of PCMZL with amyloid deposition.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Clinicopathologic characteristics and follow-up of two cases of PCMZL were analyzed. Immunohistochemical staining was performed by EnVision method using antibodies LCA, CD19, CD20, CD79a, CD3, CD7, MUM1, kappa, lambda, Ki-67. IgH and TCRgamma gene rearrangement was detected by polymerase chain reactive (PCR).</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Case 1, a 71-year-old Chinese male, had a subcutaneous mass on the right elbow that was initially diagnosed with "amyloidosis" in 2004. Three years after the initial diagnosis, he developed recurrences on the right para-auxillary that was still diagnosed with "probably amyloidosis". Four years after the first diagnosis, the patient presented a lesion on the right para-auxillary with a diameter of 2 cm and a lesion on the temporal-parietal dural with a size of 6.0 cmx3.0 cmx3.0 cm. Case 2, a 68-year-old Chinese male, had a subcutaneous mass next to back of the left ear with a size of 9.0 cmx5.0 cm, and he underwent a operation one year previously because of subcutaneous mass in the same site. Microscopically, the tumors of both cases were located in dermis and subcutaneous, tumor cells were medium size with a nodular or diffuse distribution, and some of tumor cells were plasmacytoid/plasma cells. Morphologically, the temporal-parietal dural lesion was similar to subcutaneous lesion and infiltrated into cranial (case 1). Juxtaposed the tumor cells of two cases, there were the large amyloid deposits of amorphous hyaline material and concentrically laminated hyaline spherules in case 1, while cord-like amyloid deposits in case 2. Reactive lymphoid follicles with germinal centers and foreign body giant cells in the stroma were found surrounding the amyloid deposits. Congo red staining showed positive of amyloid deposition in tumor tissues of both cases. Immunohistochemical staining revealed that LCA, CD19, CD20, CD79a and MUM1 expressions were positive in tumor cells, and Ki-67 expression was about 8%-10%. IgL restricted expression as kappa positive while lambda negative was found in both cases. PCR results showed monoclone gene rearrangement of IgH gene in both cases.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Our findings suggest that amyloid deposition rarely present in both primary and metastatic tumors in PCMZL, and its diagnosis should be considered to avoid misdiagnosis. The patients with PCMZL should undergo regular examinations and chemotherapy as well as a long-term follow-up since it is apt to recur or relapse.</p>

RESUMO

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To study the clinical, radiologic and pathologic features of solitary plasmacytoma of spine.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>The clinical, radiologic and pathologic features, as well as treatment and follow-up data, of 13 solitary plasmacytoma of spine cases were retrieved and analyzed. Immunohistochemical study using EnVision method for LCA, CD19, CD20, CD79a, CD3, CD7, PC, MUM1, CD138, IgG, IgM, kappa, lambda and Ki-67 was carried out.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>All the tumours were primarily located in the vertebrae (including 9 cases in thoracic vertebrae and 4 cases in lumbar vertebrae). The male-to-female ratio was 3.3:1. The age of the patients ranged from 42 to 69 years (mean age = 56 years). The commonest symptom was pain in the surrounding regions. The degree of neurologic disturbance mostly depended on the extent of vertebral destruction and structural instability of the spine. Radiologic examination showed mainly osteolytic lesions in vertebrae. Magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated the presence of heterogeneous intensity inside the involved vertebrae (low in T1 weighted and high in T2 weighted images). Histologic examination showed diffuse infiltration by malignant cells. In well-differentiated plasmacytomas, the tumor cells resembled normal plasma cells. In poorly differentiated examples, the cellular morphology mimicked that of the centroblasts. The interstitial stroma was scanty and contained plenty of vessels, sometimes with formation of blood lakes. Amyloid deposition was present in some of the cases. Immunohistochemical study showed that the tumor cells were positive for CD79a and negative for CD20. Light chain restriction was detected in all the 13 cases studied. Plasma cell marker PC was expressed in all cases, while IgG was positive in 5 cases, IgM in 1 case, MUM1 in 10 cases and CD138 in 8 cases. Ki-67 index varied from 10% to 50%. All cases were operated, with adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy given.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Correlation of clinical, radiologic and pathologic features is important in diagnosis of solitary plasmacytoma of spine. The possibility of multiple myeloma needs to be excluded. Early detection by radiologic examination, local surgical resection, post-operative chemoradiotherapy and long-term follow-up are prudent for successful management of this condition.</p>

RESUMO

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the expression of B cell specific MLV integration site-1 (Bmi-1) in colorectal cancer (CRC) and its correlation to the clinicopathological features and prognosis of CRC.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Sixty CRC, 30 adenomas and 20 normal colorectal mucosal tissues were collected to detect the expression of Bmi-1 protein using immunohistochemistry, and the results were analyzed in comparison with the clinicopathological features and survival rate of patients.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The positivity rate of Bmi-1 expression in CRC tissue was 51.7%. In CRC, the rate of Bmi-1 overexpression was 25.0%, significantly higher than that in the adenomas and normal colorectal mucosal tissues (6.67% and 0%, respectively, P<0.05). The overexpression of Bmi-1 protein in CRC was obviously associated with distant metastasis and the TNM stage (P<0.05), but not with gender, age, tumor size, tumor site, histological type, differentiation degree and lymph node metastasis (P>0.05). But logistic regression analysis showed that Bmi-1 protein overexpression in CRC was associated only with distant metastasis (P<0.01,OR>1); Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that the survival rate of the patients with high Bmi-1 expression was significantly lower than that in patients with low expression (P<0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The overexpression of Bmi-1 protein was significantly correlated to the tumorigenesis, metastasis and prognosis of CRC, and may serve as an indicator for evaluating the prognosis of CRC.</p>

RESUMO

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the expression of CYR61 and VEGF in extranodal nasal-type NK/T cell lymphoma and its significance.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>CYR61 mRNA and VEGF mRNA were detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR method in 20 cases of extranodal nasal-type NK/T cell lymphoma. Expressions of CYR61 and VEGF were studied by immunohistochemistry in 40 cases of the tumor.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>(1) Over-expression of CYR61 mRNA and VEGF mRNA was found in 19/20(95.0% ) and 15/20(75.0% ) cases, respectively. (2)Tumor cells expressing CYR61 protein and VEGF protein were detected in 38(95.0% ) and 25 (62. 5% ) of the 40 cases respectively, being no significant difference from the control. Co-expression of CYR61 and VEGF at both the mRNA and protein levels was 95.0% and 65.0% , respectively. Over-expression of CYR61 and VEGF at both mRNA and protein levels was found in 8 of the 40 cases. (3) The prognosis of the patients over-expressing CYR61 and VEGF was worse.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>In extranodal nasal-type NK/T cell lymphoma, the expression level of CYR61 and VEGF was changed and it may be of prognostic implication of</p>
