RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Currently, adolescents' lifestyle is commonly characterized by physical inactivity, sedentary behavior, and inappropriate eating habits in general. A person-oriented approach as Latent Class Analysis (LCA) can offer more insight than a variable-centered approach when investigating lifestyle practices, habits, and behaviors of adolescent population. OBJECTIVE: The aim of the present study was to assess which variables are mostly used to represent the physical activity level, sedentary behavior SB) and nutritional habit in the adolescents' lifestyle in studies that used the LCA. DESIGN: Scoping review. METHODS: The study was a performed in accordance with the proposed criteria for systematic reviews and meta-analyses-Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses and registered in PROSPERO (CRD42018108444). The original articles were searched in MEDLINE/PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, Web of Science, PsycINFO, and SPORTdiscus. The Quality Assessment Tool analyzed the risk of bias of the included studies. RESULTS: 30 original articles were selected. The physical activity level (28 studies), SB and nutritional habits (18 studies) were the most common variable used to evaluate the adolescent's lifestyle by LCA model. Specifically, physical inactivity and high SB were the manifest variables with higher frequency in the negative latent classes (LCs) in adolescent girls. On the other hand, physical exercises and sports were activities more commonly labeled as positive LCs. CONCLUSIONS: The LCA models of the most of selected studies showed that physical inactivity, high SB were the most common in the LCs with negative characteristics of the adolescents' lifestyle. Better understanding the results of analyzes of clusters of multivariate behaviors such as the LCA can help to create more effective strategies that can make the lifestyle of adolescents healthier.

RESUMO

The decrease in children motor competence, with a consequent reduction in the levels of physical activities and fitness, impacting health negatively, has affected children across countries. In addition to consistent intervention strategies, it is necessary to use appropriate instruments. The Körperkoordinationstest Für Kinder (KTK) is a reliable and low-cost motor coordination (MC) test used in several countries but lacking psychometric evidence in the Brazilian population. The present study investigates the factor structure of KTK in a Brazilian sample; and, compared four possibilities of calculating the factorial score of the test, precisely the sum of the scores, sum of the standard scores, weighted method, and the refined method. The participants of the study consisted of 565 volunteers (49.9% boys), from 5 to 10 (7.93 ± 1.51) years of age, with a body mass index (BMI) means of 17.04 (±2.81). The results showed that the KTK factor structure was adequate to the model for the total sample, by sex, and by age groups. However, the results did not confirm the invariance between sexes and age groups. Besides, our result showed that the sum of the raw scores of the subtests could be used as the factor score method in KTK. In the end, we conclude that the KTK is a valid test to measure the MC of Brazilian children and adolescents, with features that qualify it as a useful instrument both for research and for the practice.

RESUMO

ABSTRACT Introduction: Coping is defined as a process based on motor, behavioral, and cognitive effort to deal with the psychophysical demands that exceed an individual's capacity. One of the instruments used most often for evaluating coping skills is the Athletic Coping Skills Inventory-28 (ACSI-28). Objective: This study aimed to validate the Brazilian version of the Athletic Coping Skills Inventory-28 (ACSI-28). The ACSI-28 is a multidimensional inventory developed to evaluate the different methods used by athletes to cope with sports pressure. Methods: The sample comprised 667 Brazilian athletes: male (n = 467; 70%); female (n = 200; 30%) with mean age 25 ± 5 years and eight (± 5) years of experience in individual sports (n = 182; 27.3%) or team sports (n = 485; 72.7%). Results: For construct validity, the relational structure of the items that comprise the original version of ACSI-28 was analyzed using EFA. The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin measure (KMO = .83) and the Bartlett sphericity test (p <.0001) indicated adequate adjustment of the data to the factorial analyses. The reliability of the instrument was assessed by measuring internal consistency and by the stability of the measurement (test-retest). Conclusion: The Brazilian version of Athletic Coping Skills Inventory-28 was preliminarily considered valid. Level of Evidence III; Retrospective comparative study.

O objetivo deste estudo é analisar as características do flow-feeling no tênis.

The aim of the study was to analyze the characteristics of flow-feeling in tennis. For this, 10 male athletes, aged 21.2±2.94, competing in official tournament of Association of Professional Tennis players (ATP) have participated in the study. Data were collected through a semi-structured interview with questions related to the flow-feeling. The interviews was analyzed through of content analysis method. The recording units (RU) of responses of each athlete and the RU of each dimension of flow were evaluated. The dimensions Concentration on Task at Hand, Sense of Control and Challenge-Skill Balance were the most cited dimensions, equivalent to 63.52% of all the UR cited by athletes. In competitive tennis there are dimensions more latent and the emergence of others characteristics, such as the importance of physical conditioning to experience the flow.
