Purpose: The purpose of this systematic review is to answer the focused question, "What is the commonly affected nerve branch and the side of the face involved in trigeminal neuralgia?" Types of studies reviewed: This systematic review included studies reporting commonly affected trigeminal nerve branches and the side of the face involved in trigeminal neuralgia. To find the potential studies published, the authors utilized specific search databases such as PubMed, and Google scholar. Results: Among 132 published studies, the authors selected only 11 to be included for this systematic review. The sample size ranged from 50 to 43,518 study subjects. This review identified that the mandibular branches of the trigeminal nerve were the most affected, followed by the maxillary branch. The review also identified that the right side of the face was predominantly affected. Conclusion and practical implications: The authors of this review identified a higher occurrence of trigeminal neuralgia in the mandibular division of the nerve, commonly affected on the right side of the face. Further prospective-based research and meta-analysis are required to validate the commonly occurring trigeminal nerve branch and sidedness of the face involved with its clinical implications in trigeminal neuralgia.

Background: Goiter is a common public health issue in Ethiopia; however, there is not much evidence of it among adolescent girls, especially in Northwest Ethiopia. Objective: This study aimed to determine the prevalence and associated factors of goiter in adolescent girls living in the highlands of Northwest Ethiopia. Methods: From 5 January to 15 February 2022, 560 adolescent girls participated in this study. A multistage sampling method was used. Participants were checked for goiter using World Health Organization guidelines. Using a quick test kit, the amount of iodine in samples of table salt was determined. After being entered into Epi Info version 7, the data were exported to the SPSS version 22 for statistical analysis. Binary logistic regression was applied. It was decided to set the statistically significant level at p < 0.05. Results: In this study, the total prevalence of goiter among adolescent girls was 33.4% (95% CI: 26.3%-39.4%). The odds of goiter were 5.3 times higher among adolescents whose families had a history of goiter (AOR = 5.34, 95% CI: 3.65-9.74). The likelihood of developing goiter was 3.7 times greater among adolescent girls who consumed cabbage at least once per week (AOR = 3.74, 95% CI: 2.46-8.31). In addition, adolescent girls who did not consume meat at all were 3.3 times more likely to develop goiter (AOR = 3.32, 95% CI: 1.95-6.78). Similarly, the odds of getting goiter among adolescent girls from families who use salt with inadequate levels of iodine (0-14) were 9.84 times greater compared to their counterparts (AOR = 9.84, 95% CI: 5.61-26.24). Conclusion: In the study area, goiter was very common. Therefore, the district's health sector should make an effort to raise community knowledge by spreading important messages regarding the proper use of iodized salt and food sources.

Background: A person may endure or witness a traumatic incident, such as being exposed to war, and, as a result, develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). There is a lack of information about post-traumatic stress disorder in low and middle-income countries such as Ethiopia. However, armed conflict, abuse of human rights, and violence motivated by race are becoming more commonplace. This study aimed to assess the prevalence of PTSD and associated factors among war survivors in Nefas Meewcha Town, South Gondar Zone, Ethiopia, 2022. Methods: A community based cross-sectional study was carried out. 812 study participants were chosen using a multi-stage sampling process. A face-to-face interview used a post-traumatic stress disorder checklist (PCL-5) to evaluate PTSD. The association between PTSD and other demographic and psychosocial characteristics was investigated using bivariate and multivariable binary logistic regression analysis. A P-value of 0.05 was declared as statistical significance. Result: The prevalence of PTSD in this study was 40.8% with a 95% CI of 36.2 to 46.7. The likelihood of developing PTSD was significantly associated with the fallowing factors. A close family member killed or seriously injured (AOR = 4.53, 95% CI = 3.25-6.46), being female (AOR = 1.98, 95% CI = 1.3-3.0), moderate (AOR = 3.51, 95% CI = 2.52-4.68) and high perceived stress (AOR = 5.23, 95% CI = 3.47-8.26), depression symptoms (AOR = 4.92, 95% CI = 3.57-6.86), anxiety disorder symptoms (AOR = 5.24, 95% CI = 3.72-7.63), a chronic medical illness (AOR = 3.51, 95% CI = 2.52-5.41), physical assault (AOR = 2.12, 95% CI = 1.05-3.72) and being in a war fighting situation (AOR = 1.41, 95% CI = 1.21-3.14). Conclusion: This study reported that the prevalence of PTSD was high. Being female, having a previous history of chronic medical illness, depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, history of a family member or friend was injured or killed, poor social support, high perceived stress, physical assault, and being in a war fighting situation were statistically associated with PTSD. Hence, regular patient assessment by mental health organizations for those with a history of trauma and facilitation of ways to support such residents is highly recommended.

Introduction: The occurrence of three or more of the following signs and symptoms, such as headache, dizziness, exhaustion, irritability, sleeplessness, difficulties in concentrating, or memory problems, following a head injury is referred to as post-concussion syndrome (PCS). Even though post-concussion syndrome has not been studied in Ethiopia, the productive age group is frequently affected by health issues related to head trauma, which either directly or indirectly affect the growth of the nation. Objective: To assess the prevalence and associated factors of post-concussion syndrome among patients with traumatic brain injury at Debre Tabor Comprehensive Hospital, Debre Tabor, North Central Ethiopia. Methods: A successive sampling technique was used to conduct a hospital-based cross-sectional study on 405 traumatic brain injury patients at Debre Tabor Comprehensive Hospital from January 1, 2022, to May 30, 2022. SPSS version 25 was used to analyze the data. The factors connected to post-concussion syndrome were found using bivariate and multivariable logistic regression analysis. Statistical significance was determined by a P-value of ≤ 0.05. Results: During the data collection period, 405 cases in total were interviewed, with a 98% response rate. More than half (60.7%) of patients were married, with the majority of patients (39.8%) falling between the ages of 18 and 29. At least three post-concussion syndrome symptoms were present in 42.8% of subjects. A history of comorbidities, GCS levels of 8 or below, 9 to 12 at the time of presentation, brain neuroimaging findings, and having fair or poor social support were found to be substantially linked with PCS in multivariate logistic regression. Conclusion: About 41.5% of study participants had at least three symptoms of PCS. The Glasgow coma scale level at the time of presentation, the reason for the injury, social support, and the site of the injury were all significantly associated with the occurrence of PCS.

Acute poisoning is a global pediatric emergency problem. However, a wide variation in patterns of acute poisoning and associated factors across different geographical regions was stated. As a result, our research focused on the investigation of acute poisoning in children. An Institutional-based Retrospective study design was conducted at the University of Gondar comprehensive specialized hospital from October 2016 to October 2020. The analysis of the data was performed via SPSS Version 25. Furthermore, multiple logistic regression analysis was recruited. A P-value ≤ 0.05 was declared as statistically significant. Our study's prevalence of acute poisoning was 82/5489 (1.5%). 53 (64.6%) of patients were males. Of the total patients who had the diagnosis of poisoning, 54 (65.9%) came from rural areas. Venom was the most frequent offending agent (26.8%) and oral ingestion was the most common route of exposure (70.7%). Of the total patients who had the diagnosis of poisoning, 54 (65.9%) came from rural areas. Venom was the most frequent offending agent (26.8%), followed by insecticides (organophosphates) (21.5%). Accidental poisoning was the most common mode of poisoning more often than intentional (75.6-24.4%). The digestive tract (oral ingestion) (69.5%) was the commonest route of poisoning, followed by the cutaneous (skin bite) (24.4%). Death was three times more likely in the rural population than in urban residents [AOR 2.9 (1.21-13.7); P value 0.046]. Appropriate emergency care is the mainstay of the supportive management protocol for childhood poisoning.

BACKGROUND: Impaired fasting glucose (IFG) is an early warning system that provides prior information to prevent the future development of DM and diabetes-related problems, but early detection of DM is not practically applicable in Ethiopia. This study was aimed to assess the magnitude of impaired fasting glucose and undiagnosed diabetes mellitus (DM) and associated factors. METHODS: A community-based, cross-sectional study was conducted from May to June 30, 2021. A structured interviewer-administered questionnaire was used to collect data. Anthropometric measurements were also recorded. A fasting blood sugar (FBS) test was assessed by samples taken early in the morning. Epi-Info 7.2.5.0 was used to enter data, which was then exported to SPSS 25 for analysis. To identify factors associated with IFG, logistics regression was used. The level of statistical significance was declared at p 0.05. RESULT: Three hundred and twenty-four (324) participants with a mean age of 43.76 ± 17.29 years were enrolled. The overall magnitude of impaired fasting glucose (IFG) and undiagnosed diabetes mellitus (DM) were 43.2% and 10.0%, respectively. Waist circumference (AOR: 1.72, 95% CI 1.23-3.14), hypertension (AOR: 3.48, 95% CI 1.35-8.89), family history of Diabetic mellitus (AOR: 2.34, 95% CI 1.37-5.79) and hypertriglyceridemia (AOR: 2.35, 95% CI 1.41-5.43) were found to be independently associated with impaired fasting glucose. CONCLUSION: Individuals who are overweight, hypertriglyceridemia, and are hypertensive should have regular checkups and community-based screening.

BACKGROUND: In Ethiopia, many ethnic communities use traditional/indigenous medicine for primary health care. However, this indigenous medicinal practice is being neglected and continued to be lost due to poor documentation as they are transferred from generation to generation through oral tradition. Therefore, this ethnozoological study aimed to assess and document the medicinal use of animals and animals' products used by traditional medicinal practitioners and indigenous people in Motta city administration and Hulet Eju Enessie Districts, East Gojjam Zone, Ethiopia. METHODS: Cross-sectional ethnozoological survey was conducted using a Semi-structured questionnaire among purposively selected respondents in Motta city administration and Hulet Eju Enessie District, East Gojjam Zone, Ethiopia from September 2020 to June 2021 GC. The ethnozoological data were analyzed using SPSS version 26 and Microsoft Excell Spreadsheet. Fidelity level, use-value, and informant consensus factor were determined. RESULTS: A total of 25 animal species were reported to be used for the treatment of different ailments by 33 informants. The majority of animals (64%) were mammals followed by birds (16%). The fidelity level ranged from 18.2 (Hyena for bad spirit) to 100% (stingless be for asthma, Tiger for rabies virus, Whisper for nightmare). CONCLUSION: This study showed the wide use of medicinal animals and their parts/products for meeting the primary healthcare needs of the community in the study area. Therefore, this ethnozoological medicinal knowledge needs to be integrated with modern medicine to use animals/animals' products as a potential source of effective drugs for different ailments.

INTRODUCTION: Heart failure is a major public health problem worldwide. Since heart failure with reduced ejection fraction and preserved ejection fraction are different clinical entities, in-hospital mortality may occur at different rates. This study aimed to assess the management, survival, and predictors of mortality among hospitalized heart failure patients at Debre Markos comprehensive specialized medical ward. METHODS: A prospective cohort study was conducted on 228 heart failure patients at Debre Markos Comprehensive Specialized Hospital medical wards. A structured data collection tool was used to collect data. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 21.0. The Kaplan-Meier survival curve was used to investigate if there was a difference in the in-hospital survival between heart failure with a reduced ejection fraction and heart failure with a preserved ejection fraction. Those variables having p-value < 0.05 were considered statistically significant. RESULTS: From the 228 participants, 126 (55.3%) were females with a mean age of 53.32 ± 15.68 years. One hundred thirty-three (58.3%) patients were presented with preserved (⩾50%) level of ejection fraction. The all-cause in-hospital death rate was 12.7%, and the risk of in-hospital mortality was higher in heart failure patients with reduced ejection fraction (7.4% vs 5.3%; p = 0.005). Current occupation (p = 0.041), elevated serum creatinine (p = 0.010), reduced ejection fraction (p = 0.017), and asthma/chronic obstructive pulmonary disease comorbidity (p = 0.002) were the independent predictors of high hospital mortality. CONCLUSION: The rate of in-hospital mortality among heart failure patients was high. Healthcare providers should provide effective education activities and define disease management strategies for patients with reduced ejection fractions.

OBJECTIVES: This study was aimed to assess the type, prevalence, characteristics of drug interaction and factors associated from admitted patients in medical wards at primary, district and referral hospitals in East Gojjam Zone, Amhara Regional State, Ethiopia. METHODS: A facility-based retrospective cross-sectional study design was conducted among admitted patients in medical wards at different hospitals of East Gojjam Zone from September 2019 to February 2020. Patient-specific data were extracted from patient medical prescription papers using a structured data collection tool. Potential drug-drug interaction was identified using www.drugs.com as drug-drug interaction checker. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 23.0. To identify the explanatory predictors of potential drug-drug interaction, logistic regression analysis was done at a statistical significance level of p-value < 0.05. RESULTS: Of the total 554 prescriptions, 51.1% were prescribed for females with a mean (±standard deviation) age of 40.85 ± 23.09 years. About 46.4% prescriptions of patients had one or more comorbid conditions, and the most frequent identified comorbid conditions were infectious (18.6%) and cardiac problems (6.3%) with 0.46 ± 0.499 average number of comorbid conditions per patient. Totally, 1516 drugs were prescribed with 2.74 ± 0.848 mean number per patient and range of 2-6. Two hundred and forty-two (43.7%) prescriptions had at least one potential drug-drug interaction, and it was found that 292 drug interactions were presented. Almost half of the drug-drug interaction identified was moderate (50%). Overall, the prevalence rate of drug-drug interaction was 43.7%. Older age (adjusted odds ratio = 8.301; 95% confidence interval (5.51-12.4), p = 0.000), presence of comorbidities (adjusted odds ratio = 1.72; 95% confidence interval (1.10-2.68), p = 0.000) and number of medications greater or equal to 3 (adjusted odds ratio = 2.69; 95% confidence interval (1.42-5.11), p = 0.000) were independent predictors for the occurrence of potential drug-drug interaction. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of potential drug-drug interaction among admitted patients was relatively high. Pharmacodynamic drug-drug interaction was the common mechanism of drug-drug interaction with moderate degree. Therefore, close follow-up of hospitalized patients is highly recommended.

BACKGROUND: Neonatal jaundice is one of the most common clinical disorders occurred worldwide. About 1.1 million neonates develop jaundice per year globally and the vast majority of them found in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. There is a paucity of evidence on the incidence rate and predictors of neonatal jaundice in Ethiopia. Therefore, this study was aimed at determining the rate and predictors of neonatal jaundice in the northwest, Ethiopia. METHODS: A prospective cohort study design was conducted at Debre Markos comprehensive, specialized Hospitals using 334 neonates from October 1, 2019, to June 30, 2020. Using a systematic random sampling technique, the study subjects were drawn. Data were entered into the Epi-DataTM Version 4.2 and analyzed using STATATM Version 14.0. The Kaplan-Meier survival curve was used to estimate the survival time. A generalized Log rank test was used to compare the survival curves of different categorical variables. Finally, both bi-variable and multivariable Cox-proportional hazards regression models were used to identify the predictors of neonatal jaundice. THE RESULTS: The overall incidence rate of jaundice among neonates was 4.5 per 100 person-hours. Long duration of labor [ARR = 3.5; 95% confidence interval (CI), (2.8-8.7)], being male neonates [ARR= 5.2; 95% CI (3.5-7.3)], "O" blood group mothers [ARR = 4.5; 95% CI (3.4-10.3)], and having neonatal sepsis 3.4 [ARR=3.4; 95% CI: (2.5-6.1)] were predictors. CONCLUSION: The incidence rate of jaundice was higher in this study than the finding of the previous one. Being male, prolonged duration of labor, "O" blood group mothers and sepsis were the significant predictors. Hence, an effort has to be made to decrease the incidence rate of neonatal jaundice through improving newborn care and timely intervention for neonates with sepsis and delivered at a long duration of time as well as the neonates born from "o" blood type mothers are our recommendation.

BACKGROUND: Tuberculosis caused by susceptible mycobacterium tuberculosis strains is effectively treated by the first-line anti-tuberculosis drugs. However, most antibacterial drugs are known to induce hepatotoxicity which may limit their adherence and hence lead to the development of mycobacterial drug resistance. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to assess the incidence of anti-tuberculosis drug induced hepatotoxicity and associated factors among tuberculosis patients of Debre Markos, Mota, and Bichena Hospitals. METHODS: The prospective cross sectional-study was conducted in three hospitals of East Gojjam zone by taking blood samples of new tuberculosis patients every 2 weeks for 2 months to measure the elevation of liver proteins indicating liver toxicity from the onset of starting therapy. A semi-structured questionnaire was also used to collect the socio-demographic data and factors of anti-tubeculosis drug induced liver toxicity. To identify factors associated with drug induced hepatotoxicity, binary logistic regression followed by multivariate analysis was applied at a statistically significant level of P<0.05. RESULTS: The incidence of hepatotoxicity among tuberculosis patients is 7.9%. Diagnosis of extrapulmonary tuberculosis, having comorbid disease, and old age are significantly associated (P<0.05) with first-line antituberculosis drugs induced hepatotoxicity. CONCLUSION: The incidence of hepatotoxicity is relatively high among tuberculosis patients taking first-line anti-tuberculosis drugs. Therefore, the liver function of patients with old age, comorbid diseases, and extrapulmonary tuberculosis should be regularly monitored to reduce the severity of drug-induced hepatotoxicity.

BACKGROUND: Wounds are major problems of developing countries that can be managed alternatively using traditional medicinal plants. Since majority of currently available drugs for wound management are expensive and pose problems such as allergy and drug resistance, it is pivotal for the world to have intensified inquiries on the claimed medicinal plants to come up with wound healing chemicals being affordable, effective and safe. Ethiopian traditional healers recruit a wide range of medicinal plants with wound healing activities. Root bark juice of Brucea antidysentrica, the leaves of Rhamnus prinoides and Dodonaea angustifolia are claimed among others in the folklore medicine. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the in vivo wound healing activities of the root bark juice of Brucea antidysentrica, the leaves of Rhamnus prinoides and Dodonaea angustifolia in mice. METHOD: The root bark juice of Brucea antidysentrica, the leaves of Rhamnus prinoides and Dodonaea angustifolia were collected, dried, ground to coarse powders. Then the crude extract was obtained by macerating with 80% methanol. The filtrate was dried, reconstituted in appropriate solvent and the wound healing activity was evaluated using excision and incision wound models. RESULTS: On the last day of treatment, 80% methanol extracts from the selected medicinal plants showed a significant wound healing activity against control as supported by an increase in % wound contraction and a decrease in Epithelialization period. Ten percent of Rhamnus prinoides showed significant wound contraction against the control (P < 0.05) on days 2 and 4. But on day 6; except 5% extracts of Brucea antidysentrica and Rhamnus prinoides; all doses of extracts contracted the wound significantly (P < 0.05). Extracts of Dodonea angustifolia (5% & 10%) and 10% of Rhamnus prinoides and Brucea antidysentrica increases wound contraction rate with increasing significant level on days 8 & 10 (P < 0.01) and 12 &14 (P < 0.001). Among the extracts, 10% of Dodonea angustifolia showed maximum percent (99.9%; P < 0.001) of wound contraction followed by 5% Dodonea angustifolia (99.15%; P < 0.001) and 10% Rhamnus prinoides (99.00%; P < 0.001) on the last day of treatment. In addition; significantly shorter healing time was attained by 5% &10% leaves of Dodonea angustifolia (P < 0.01), 10% leaves Rhamnus prinoides & root barks Brucea antidysentrica (P < 0.05). Ten percent of Rhamnus prinoides & Brucea antidysentrica (P < 0.05) and both doses (5% & 10%) of Dodonea angustifolia (P < 0.01) significantly increased the tensile strength by 54.10%, 56.58%, 63.04%, and 79.19%, respectively against the control. CONCLUSION: The 80% methanol crude extracts of the study plants support the traditional claims for healing of wounds as evidenced by an increase in wound contraction rate and tensile strength, decrease in Epithelialization period.

BACKGROUND: People are dependent on the traditional use of medicinal plants for the treatment of malaria without scientific validations. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the antimalarial activity of methanolic stem bark extract of Combretum molle in mice. METHODS: After being infected with Plasmodium berghei, the mice were randomly divided into 5 groups (n = 5). In all cases, group I mice were treated as negative control and received 3% Tween 80; group II mice were treated with 25 mg/kg chloroquine; and groups III, IV, and V mice were treated with 100 mg/kg, 200 mg/kg, and 400 mg/kg of crude extract, respectively. Data were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance followed by Tukey's post hoc analysis. RESULTS: In the chemosuppressive test, the parasitic suppression effect of the crude extract was found to be significant (P < 0.05) as compared with the negative control. In the curative experiment, the average parasitic level of those mice treated by the 3 doses of the crude extract was significantly suppressed at days 5, 6, and 7 of treatment (P < 0.001). Besides, the crude extract had been found to have a chemoprophylactic role as it inhibited the parasite level significantly relative to the negative control (P < 0.001). Moreover, the crude extract had preventive effects on packed cell volume reduction in the 3 tests (P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: The findings of the present study has supported the folklore use of the leaves of Combretum molle in the treatment of malaria. Therefore, further fractionation and characterization of the crude extract is necessary to identify the responsible lead compound(s) responsible for antiplasmodial activity.

INTRODUCTION: Hypertension is a global challenge which accounts for high morbidity and mortality rates in the world. The availability of effective anti-hypertensive medications does not result in a good outcome in controlling blood pressure which points towards poor adherence. Thus, this study was conducted to assess the determinants of adherence to anti-hypertensive medication among hypertensive patients on follow-up in Hawassa Referral Hospital. METHODS: Institution-based case-control study was conducted on a sample of 289 clients from February to May 2018. Census was conducted on 1600 clients to select cases and controls. Then, systematic random sampling was used to select study subjects, and adherence was measured by Morisky medication adherence scale. The associations of variables were analyzed using bivariable followed by multivariable logistic regression analyses. RESULTS: The respondent's adherence to medication was found to be 67% as measured by Morisky medication adherence scale. The multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that medication adherence was found to be better in younger age (<45) (AOR = 3.8), clients living in urban areas (AOR = 6.84), those clients who had good knowledge (AOR = 3.13), those with no co-morbidities (AOR = 3.14) and patients who controlled their blood pressure (<140/90) (AOR = 2.35). CONCLUSIONS: The rate of medication adherence was found to be low, and hence educational interventions focusing on factors promoting adherence and patients' health support should be implemented.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of the study was to determine level of anemia and other hematological profiles in pregnant women attending antenatal care clinic in Debre Berhan Referral Hospital, Ethiopia. RESULTS: Prevalence of anemia was 2.8% and that of thrombocytopenia was 10.2%. Out of the anemic pregnant mothers, 5 (62.5%) were mildly anemic and 2 (25%) were severely anemic. The factor age < 20 years of mothers was significantly associated with anemia (P < 0.05). In addition, the occurrence of anemia in mothers who visited antenatal clinic two times is two times higher than those mother who visited the antenatal clinic three times. Moreover, the prevalence of anemia is two times more likely to occur in pregnant mothers who did not take iron supplements as compared to their counter parts. According to pregnancy periods; mean white blood cells count was (8.48 ± 3.09, 8.83 ± 2.73, 8.86 ± 2.67) × 109/L for the first, second and third trimesters, respectively. Red blood cells and platelet counts in the first trimester were significantly higher than their corresponding values in third trimester (P < 0.01), whereas mean hemoglobin and hematocrit values were not statistically significant within trimesters (P > 0.05).

BACKGROUND: Medicinal plants play great roles in the treatment of various infectious diseases. Rhamnus prinoides is one of the medicinal plants used traditionally for treatment of bacterial diseases. The antibacterial activity of the crude extract of the plant had been shown by a previous study, but this study was undertaken to further the claimed medicinal use of the plant by screening its solvent fractions for the said activity so that it could serve as a basis for subsequent studies. METHODS: The solvent fractions of the plant were obtained by successive soxhlet extraction with solvents of increasing polarity, with chloroform and methanol, followed by maceration of the marc of methanol fraction with water. The antibacterial activity of the solvent fractions was evaluated on seven bacterial species using agar well diffusion method at different concentrations (78 mg/well, 39 mg/well and 19.5 mg/well) in the presence of positive and negative controls. The minimum inhibitory concentration of the solvent fractions was determined by micro-broth dilution method using resazurin as indicator. RESULT: Methanol and chloroform fractions revealed antibacterial activities against the growth of test bacterial strains with varying antibacterial spectrum and the susceptible bacterial species were Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogen, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Salmonella typhi. The average minimum inhibitory concentration value of the methanol and chloroform fractions ranged from 8.13 mg/ml to 32.5 mg/ml and from 8.13 mg/ml to 16.25 mg/ml, respectively. CONCLUSION: The methanol and chloroform fractions demonstrated significant antibacterial activities against the growth of pathogenic bacteria but the aqueous fraction did not reveal antibacterial activity against any of the test bacteria.
