RESUMO

The authors report on 141 primary, non-metastatic, breast cancer patients with a minimum follow-up of 12 months after surgery to a maximum of 5 years. All cases were studied according to the patterns of the preoperative telethermography (TH) and nodal status (N). Prognosis was evaluated in terms of incidence of relapse. A statistically significant correlation was found between TH+ and early relapse, and for N+, but there was no correlation between TH and N, both for negative and positive values. The results suggest a complementary prognostic value of the two parameters.

RESUMO

Conservative treatment of Recurring Acute Pancreatitis (R.A.P.) is characterised by a fairly high disease and death rate due to the numerous relapses involving pancreatic lesions of ever increasing severity. 42 patients with R.A.P., subjected to biliary tract surgery at Trieste University Institute of General Surgical Clinic, were re-examined (average follow-up of three years) in order to assess the effectiveness of the treatment given. The follow-up results confirm the need for prompt surgical operation aimed at correcting the biliary pathology and at obtaining complete "restitutio ad integrum" from the pancreatic anatomo-functional standpoint when such therapy has been correctly applied.

RESUMO

The Authors present a medium-term (2 years) followup of 8 out of 10 patients treated by pancreatojejunostomy. Good results were obtained in 100% of these cases, with a possibility of later failures if the patient continues to drink. The mere clinical assessment of such patients affords a sufficiently faithful reflection of the results of derivation procedures.

RESUMO

The synthetic resin moulds of the human normal livers permit the schematization of the distribution and the disposition of the vascular elements of the hepatic tree. The authors have described all the segments and sectors of the ilus in their modal disposition that are important from the point of view of the operation. Beside that, they have pointed out the presence of anastomosis, at the level of the ilaris plate and the existence of anastomotical ramifications between the right and left sectors, and the close dependence of each sector from his own vascular ilus. The authors emphasize the importance of this observation from the surgical point of view.
