RESUMO

SnS and SnS2 powders were synthesized with the use of ultrasound. The indirect sonication was applied with ultrasound frequency 40 kHz and acoustic power 38 W/L. Products of syntheses were examined with PXRD, TEM, EDX, XPS, and UV-Vis (the Tauc method) investigations. The resulting microparticles were used for tip coating of copper cathodes. These electrodes were used in the degradation of model azo-dye Metanil Yellow by the electro-Fenton process. The efficiencies of degradation using copper, SnS-coated copper, and SnS2-coated copper cathodes are compared. Kinetics of degradation of Metanil Yellow in the electro-Fenton process with the application of three different cathodes is also investigated. It was found that the degradation follows pseudo-first-order and that SnS-coated copper cathode improves the efficiency of degradation, while SnS2-coated copper cathode decreases the efficiency of degradation.

RESUMO

The purpose of this study was to synthesize a new magnetic material with antimicrobial properties, incorporated into a biopolymer and containing silver nanoparticles (Ag NP) prepared extract of Eugenia umbelliflora as a reducing agent. Silver nanoparticles incorporated into magnetic nanocomposite O-carboxymethylchitosan/y-Fe2O3/Ag0 (CMAgE) composite were synthesized using an extract of E. umbelliflora. The antimicrobial activity of the pathogenic microorganism is reported here. The synthesized nanoparticles were also characterized, and quantified by Ag analysis. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of CMAgE against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Candida albicans were 16.5, 1000 and 500 µg/mL, respectively. The results show that these materials have significant synergistic effect on each other. The potential phytotoxic effect of the nanocomposites was evaluated using Cucumis sativus seeds. The positive values for seedling elongation inhibition (SEI) show that CMAgE and methanol extract of Eugenia umbelliflora (Eug) cause growth inhibition at a concentration of 1000 mg/L. The germination index (GI) values of 40% and 80% at 1000 mg/L, for CMAgE and Eug, respectively, showed inhibition of germination. CMAgE and Eug showed cytotoxic effects against Artemia salina nauplii, with LC50 values of 72.5 µL/mL and < 5.0 µL/mL respectively, after 48 h.

RESUMO

A data mining approach is proposed as a useful tool for the control parameters analysis of the 3-stage CIGSe photovoltaic cell production process, in order to find variables that are the most relevant for cell electric parameters and efficiency. The analysed data set consists of stage duration times, heater power values as well as temperatures for the element sources and the substrate - there are 14 variables per sample in total. The most relevant variables of the process have been found based on the so-called random forest analysis with the application of the Boruta algorithm. 118 CIGSe samples, prepared at Institut des Matériaux Jean Rouxel, were analysed. The results are close to experimental knowledge on the CIGSe cells production process. They bring new evidence to production parameters of new cells and further research.
