RESUMO

Increased quantitiy of lean body mass, obstructive ventilatory syndrome and elevated initial maximal arterial pressure were found in 47 obese as compared with 70 control males, all aged 18--24. With the progressive cycling loading on a veloergometer up to an oxygen uptake of 1.5 1/min--1, considerably higher oxygen uptake was established in the obese as comparable loading grades and in some of the cases--hypeptensive reaction was found. The physical work capacity (PWC170) is insignificantly decreased and the ventilatory parameters were unchanged as compared with the control group. With obesity among young males, the physical work capacity was concluded to be decreased and the frequency of cardiac activity, with submaximal loading, to be increased on both cases--per one unit of body weight, per one unit of lean body mass resp.

RESUMO

An inhalatory bronchodilatory test was performed in two groups of 130 healthy and 89 asthmatics comparable in age, height and weight. All were males aged about 20 years. The bronchodilatory response was assessed by the percent increase after bronchodilation of FEV1, MEF200-1200, MMEF25-75 MEF50-75 (E50-75) and MEF75-90--at last three flow rate percent increases measured before and after bronchodilation at the same level of control FVC. It was found that only MEF75-90, measured as described, could probably significantly improve the diagnostic value of a bronchodilatory test if used in cases in which the FEV1 percent increase remains within the normal range.

RESUMO

The physical activity capacity (W170) was twofold determined in 26 soldiers, aged about 20 by the method of three-stage loading (25,50 and 75 W) upon mechanic veloergometer and with the aid of regression extrapolation- at the release from the hospital after treatment for acute pneumonia and after 28+/-11 days of home sick leave. W170 was established not change significantly after the sick leave in spite of the favourable evolution towards further normalization of the remaining X-ray changes of the pneumonia and RES. The possible explanations are discussed for that W170 decrease after acute pneumonias and the conclusion is that further investigators in the field are necessary.

RESUMO

The results from the spirometric investigations of pulmonary function in comparable grpis pf 28 smokers and 37 non-smokers at the age of 20 are presented. Positive obstructive changes were established to be present in the lungs of the smokers (smoked about 20 cigarettes daily in the course of four years and more); they were varified by the essential decrease of FEO1, MRFR200-1200, MAEFR25-75, EFR25 and EFR10. MMV50 is decreased with a critical statistical significance.
