RESUMO

The aim of the study was to analyse daily food rations of patients with chronic renal failure (CRF) receiving a supplement containing essential amino acid ketoanalogues (EAAK). The study was carried out on 60 patients with CRF of different etiology. During the progression of CRF, decline of consumption of products being the source of protein and limitation of consumption of products high in energy were observed. This can lead to protein-energy malnutrition. The results of the research emphasize the necessity of providing patients with CRF constant dietician care that would assure possibility to adjust diet to individual needs of every patient as well as to modify it, if necessary, and that would have significant influence on prolongation of the phase of predialysis treatment as well as on better preparation to dialysis.

RESUMO

The influence of dialysis's period on energy and selected nutrients intake was examined on 38 patients with end stage renal disease. The longer period of dialysis caused higher energy and protein content in daily food rations. Furthermore lower intake of energy, protein, iron and calcium were observed as well as too high level of saturated fatty acids comparing to recommendations. Our data strongly suggest that constant dietician care might be essential to correct nutrients intake and prevent possible deficiencies among patients with the end stage renal disease.

RESUMO

The aim of this study was to evaluate the compliance of the diet with limited branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) content in long-term observation of patients with maple syrup urine disease (MSUD). The study group consisted of 7 children at age of 1.5-18 years. Nutrition evaluation was based on current diet records from 3-4 days, every 3-4 months. Energy and nutrition values of proposed daily products lists and diet records was compared with adequate references and recommendations. Energy and content of most of the nutrients in proposed daily products lists were in agreement with RDI except calcium. Diet analysis at MSUD children revealed insufficient contents of: iron, zinc, copper, vitamin B1, B2, niacin and vitamin C (often below 90% RDI).

RESUMO

The aim of the study was to evaluate daily dietary intake of energy and protein by predialysis patients with chronic renal failure (CRF) receiving a supplement containing essential amino acid ketoanalogues. The study was carried out on 60 patients with CRF of different etiology. Low intake of energy (88% of tested patients) and animal protein (23% of tested patients) were observed, whereas total protein level was too high (33% of tested patients). As a consequence, the analyzed diets were not properly balanced. Our data strongly suggest that constant dietician care is essential to correct protein and energy intake in patients with CRF and can protect them against malnutrition and progression of CFR.

RESUMO

The influence of dialysis's day and time shifts on selected nutrients intake was examined on 38 patients with end stage renal disease. Time shift of dialysis influenced significantly carbohydrates content all groups) and energy content (time shift II vs. III) in daily food rations. There were no differences in energy, protein, fat, carbohydrates potassium (women) and phosphorous intake between day with and without dialysis. Our data strongly suggest that constant dietician care might be essential to correct nu:ients intake and prevent possible deficiencies among patients with end stage renal disease.

RESUMO

The objective of the research was to assess nutritional habits of men with coronary heart disease aged > 60 years old (n=132), stratified by educational level. The examined men were divided into 3 groups: group I--men with primary education (n=33), group II--men with secondary education (n=42), group III--men with higher education (n=57). Nutritional habits of examined men were assessed on the basis of a 3-day food record. The research showed that nutritional habits of examined men were characterized by too much saturated fat and cholesterol and were in accordance to hipolipemic diet. Educational level did not significantly influence the parameters of the subjects' diet, but had an impact on the structure of the intake of selected products.
