RESUMO

Low-frequency intermolecular motions are of importance for understanding the structure of molecular liquids, which can be elucidated by Raman spectroscopy. A liquid droplet provides a field where stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) readily proceeds. Our previous study showed that multiorder SRS is more effectively generated in colliding droplets than a single droplet. Here we report that the multiorder SRS generated in colliding benzene droplets included low-frequency bands of the liquid benzene, which is considered to represent a temporal state of liquid emerging in the course of the droplet collision. This method enables measurements of the low-frequency intermolecular motions of the novel liquid state emerging at the mixed region of the colliding droplet without suffering from background of Rayleigh scattering.

RESUMO

A 66-year-old man was postoperatively diagnosed with pT4a, pN2, cM1a(H2), cP0, fStage Ⅳ, RAS wild type rectal cancer. He underwent SOX plus Bmab chemotherapy 4 weeks later. After 9 courses of SOX plus Bmab, he was admitted to the hospital for leg edema and proteinuria(4+). Because of severe proteinuria(14.7 g/day)and low protein(Alb 2.0 g/dL, TP 4.9 g/dL), he was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome. His general condition improved on stopping chemotherapy and administration of conservative treatment, and he was discharged on day 20 after admission. The proteinuria improved 3 months later. He had been undergoing SOX chemotherapy for 4 months.

RESUMO

Nonlinear Raman spectroscopy is a versatile method to enhance the intensities of Raman scattering. It requires an intense light field that can be provided by a liquid droplet acting as a high-quality optical cavity. Here, colliding droplets were used as a novel optical cavity to enhance the intensity of Raman scattering. Specifically, multiorder stimulated Raman-scattered light was generated with significant intensity from colliding droplets of carbon tetrachloride (CCl4). The intensities of the Raman bands were analyzed with a simple theory that roughly reproduced the experimental spectrum. Overall, the method facilitates Raman spectroscopy of molecules in liquids because of its high sensitivity and resolution.

RESUMO

This study was intended to elucidate the efficacy of an erythropoietin analog in cardiorenal dysfunction syndrome using a rodent model. Cardiorenal dysfunction was induced using doxorubicin hydrochloride (DXR). Lower doses (3 microg/kg) and higher doses (30 microg/kg) of darbepoetin alfa (DA) were used for intervention. Blood examinations for creatinine, blood urea nitrogen, iron, and hemoglobin were performed until 11 weeks after starting DA administration. Urine collection was performed 10 weeks after starting DA, and protein, iron, and N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminidase levels and antioxidation capacity of DA were determined. The dry left ventricular heart weight was measured, when the animals were sacrificed 11 weeks after starting DA administration. Histological analyses were performed for interstitial fibrotic changes and iron deposition in the kidney. Administration of DA markedly improved anemia to the normal control level and significantly alleviated DXR-induced increases of creatinine, blood urea nitrogen, renal interstitial fibrosis, renal iron deposition, and dry left ventricular weight, but serum and urinary iron and urinary protein and N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminidase levels were unchanged. The urinary total radical-trapping antioxidant capacity was improved to the normal control level in DA-treated animals. DA reduced the DXR-induced cardiorenal injury. This improvement was achieved, when anemia was corrected to the normal control level.
