RESUMO

Twenty-four potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) varieties differing in ripening groups (early, middle-early, and mid-season-ripening) were studied. Potatoes were grown under the conditions of the Middle Volga region of Russia in 2019-2021. It was found statistically that the yield (t/ha) of the early and mid-season-ripening varieties was negatively correlated with the increase in average temperatures during the growing season from May to August (R = -0.97, p = 0.04). Soil moisture content at a depth of 20 cm was positively correlated with the yield of middle-early varieties (R = 0.97, p = 0.04). The average tuber weight in the early varieties was sensitive to the increase in average temperatures (R = -0.95, p = 0.04). An increase in soil moisture content was beneficial to the average tuber weight (R = 0.98, p = 0.04), though only in the middle-early and mid-season-ripening groups. However, the soil moisture content and the tuber numbers in the mid-season-ripening varieties were negatively correlated (R = -0.96, p = 0.05).

RESUMO

Interrelation between the morphology, physiology, biochemistry, and productivity of potato plants was shown for the first time using the example of a mid-season-ripening variety (v.) Siversky and a mid-early Tretyakovka v. The yield of Siversky v. turned out to be 1.6 times higher than the yield of Tretyakovka. Aboveground biomass of Siversky v. was distinguished by an increased content of photosynthetic pigments, a greater variability of the protein and lipid metabolism indicators, and more intense oxidation processes and antioxidant protection, which can be the key to its greater productivity. Multivariate statistical analysis showed that the greatest relationship in the climatic conditions of central Russia in 2020 was found for productivity and such indicators as the stomata number per unit leaf area, the number of stems, and the content of pigments, phospholipids, neutral lipids, and water-soluble part of the protein. Thus, both morphological and physiological-biochemical properties can influence the course and direction of the production process, and, hence, the yield of a certain variety.

RESUMO

The relationship between the ecological adaptive strategies of some halophyte groups and their metabolism has been demonstrated; this correlation determines their competitive capabilities and place in the ecosystem. The features of the content of total and membrane lipids, chlorophylls, carotenoids, and membrane and water-soluble proteins, as well as the level of lipid peroxidation, hydration of photosynthetic organs, and sodium accumulation in euhalophytes, crynohalophytes, and glycohalophytes, which are confined to different levels of soil salinity, have been established.

RESUMO

To study the characteristics of the structure and the functional role of chloroplast membranes of halophytes with different salt tolerance strategy, raft structures were isolated. Lipid analysis data provided evidence for the presence of rafts in the chloroplast membranes. The discovered significant differences in the content of raft-forming lipids in different halophytes suggest a relationship between the functions of rafts and the mechanisms of salt tolerance in plants.

RESUMO

Polar glycerolipids and photosynthetic pigments of Plantago media L. plants, growing on limestone outcrops of the Southern Timan, have been studied. Leaves of plants growing on well insolated and heated slopes are characterized by an intensive lipoperoxidation; the accumulation of chlorophylls and carotenoids in these plants is 1.5-2 times less and the content of polar lipids is 15-20% less than in plants growing in dense grass at the bottom of slopes. The accumulation of some classes of glycerolipids in leaves in the daytime provides for stabilization of photosystem complexes and the formation of the pool of zeaxanthin, a protective xanthophyll. Changes in the content and ratio of lipids represent an important part of the adaptive reorganizations of the photosynthetic apparatus caused by excess radiation under natural conditions.

RESUMO

A series of indole- and carbazole-substituted pyridinium iodide salts has been synthesized and characterized. X-ray analysis revealed that the iodide salt of the indole-substituted cation (E)-4-(1H-indol-3-ylvinyl)-N-methylpyridinium (IMPE(+)), C(16)H(15)N(2)(+) x I(-), (I), has two polymorphic modifications, (Ia) and (Ib), and a hemihydrate structure, C(16)H(15)N(2)(+) x I(-) x 0.5H(2)O, (II). Until now, only one crystal modification has been identified for the (E)-4-(9-ethyl-9H-carbazol-3-ylvinyl)-N-methylpyridinium (ECMPE(+)) iodide salt, C(22)H(21)N(2)(+) x I(-), (III). Crystals of (Ia) and (Ib) comprise stacks of antiparallel cations with iodide anions located in the channels between the stacks. Due to the presence of the water molecules, the packing in (II) is quite different to that found in (Ia) and (Ib), and positional disorder involving a statistical superposition of two rotamers of IMPE(+), with different orientations of the indole fragment, was found. Crystals of (III) contain two independent ECMPE(+) rotamers with different orientations of their carbazole substituents. The cations are packed in stacks, with the iodide anions located in the channels between the stacks. In (III), the iodide was found to be disordered over two sites, with occupancies of 0.83 and 0.17.

RESUMO

The structures of the title compounds, C15H13N3O4, (I), and C16H15N3O5 [IUPAC name: ethyl 6-amino-5-cyano-2-methyl-4-(3-nitrophenyl)-4H-pyrano-3-carboxylate], (II), are very similar, with the heterocyclic rings adopting boat conformations. The pseudo-axial m-nitrophenyl substituents are rotated by 84.0 (1) and 98.7 (1) degrees in (I) and (II), respectively, with respect to the four coplanar atoms of the boat. The dihedral angles between the phenyl rings and nitro groups are 12.1 (2) and 8.4 (2) degrees in (I) and (II), respectively. The two compounds have similar patterns of intermolecular N-H...O and N-H...N hydrogen bonding, which link molecules into infinite tapes along b.

RESUMO

The title compound, C(10)H(8)N(2)O(3), has been prepared by condensation of 2-methoxybenzaldehyde and nitroacetonitrile in ethanol at room temperature. Its investigation has been undertaken as a part of search for new nonlinear optical compounds. The pi-conjugated molecule is almost planar. Molecules in the crystal are packed in stacks with antiparallel molecular orientation and slightly alternating distances between mean molecular planes.

RESUMO

Analysis of germline mutation rate at human minisatellites among children born in areas of the Mogilev district of Belarus heavily polluted after the Chernobyl accident has been extended, both by recruiting more families from the affected region and by using five additional minisatellite probes, including multi-locus probe 33.6 and four hypervariable single-locus probes. These additional data confirmed a twofold higher mutation rate in exposed families compared with non-irradiated families from the United Kingdom. An elevated rate was seen at all three independent sets of minisatellites (detected separately by multi-locus probes 33.15, 33.6 and six single-locus probes), indicating a generalised increase in minisatellite germline mutation rate in the Belarus families. Within the Belarus cohort, mutation rate was significantly greater in families with higher parental radiation dose estimated for chronic external and internal exposure to caesium-137, consistent with radiation induction of germline mutation. The spectra of mutation seen in the unexposed and exposed families were indistinguishable, suggesting that increased mutation observed over multiple loci arises indirectly by some mechanism that enhances spontaneous minisatellite mutation.

RESUMO

Germline mutation at human minisatellite loci has been studied among children born in heavily polluted areas of the Mogilev district of Belarus after the Chernobyl accident and in a control population. The frequency of mutation was found to be twice as high in the exposed families as in the control group. Mutation rate in the Mogilev families was correlated with the level of caesium-137 surface contamination, consistent with radiation induction of germline mutation.

RESUMO

This work is dedicated to the study of use of quantitative analysis of cell nucleus structure for the analysis of peripheral blood lymphocytes in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia. The structure of lymphocytic nuclei of healthy donors was evaluated by means of staining by toluidine blue purified cell suspensions smears. The preparations were analysed on the television measuring system "omnicon" with measurements of the following parameters: square of the nucleus, euchromatin, heterochromatin, and the ratio of heterochromatin and euchromatin squares. Actuarial analysis and nuclei classification of the previously mentioned parameters showed, that in peripheral blood of patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia a large amount of atypical lymphocytes is present with reduced nucleus sizes. Atypical cells retain the ratio of structural components of chromatine, characteristic to normal cells, which show their low proliferative activity.
