RESUMO

The development of methods for nanoparticle detection is highly desirable due to their increasing presence in the environment. Recently, we have shown that the electrochemical detection in flow is one of the possible solutions. Here we demonstrate a dramatic improvement of analytical parameters of such detection. The significant enhancement of an amperometric signal resulting from the electrocatalytic oxidation of ascorbic acid (AA) in a negatively charged phenylsulphonated carbon nanoparticle suspension in the millifluidic flow injection analysis system as compared to earlier results (D. Ogonczyk, et al., Electrochem. Commun., 2014, 43, 40) is presented. This effect results from the tailoring of electrostatic interactions, e.g. optimization of the supporting electrolyte and AA concentration and/or immobilization of positively charged functionalities at the electrode surface. The sensitivity is improved by almost three orders of magnitude and the limit of detection of carbon nanoparticles is decreased by two orders of magnitude down to 0.001 mg mL(-1).

RESUMO

This paper examines a set of techniques for the immobilization of enzymes on the surface of microchannels fabricated in polycarbonate (PC). Our experiments identify the method that uses combined physico-chemical immobilization on a layer of polyethyleneimine (PEI) as a reproducible vista for the robust immobilization of proteins. As an example, we demonstrate the fabrication, throughput and stability of an open-tubular reactor draped with alkaline phosphatase (ALP, EC 3.1.3.1) as a model enzyme. As PC is suitable for industrial applications the method could potentially be used to immobilize proteins in numbered-up implementations.

RESUMO

We report a method for formulation of pectin microbeads using microfluidics. The technique uses biocompatible ingredients and allows for controlled external gelation with hydrogen and calcium ions delivered from an organic phase of rapeseed oil. This method allows for encapsulation of nanoparticles into the microparticles of gel and for control of the rate of their release.

RESUMO

A simple method for bonding polycarbonate, based on controlled exposure of the pieces to vapours of solvents, yields a tight seal and unmodified geometry of the channels.
