RESUMO

PURPOSE: StaySafe PH is the Philippines' official contact tracing software for controlling the propagation of COVID-19 and promoting a uniform contact tracing strategy. The StaySafe PH has various features such as a social distancing system, LGU heat map and response system, real-time monitoring, graphs, infographics, and the primary purpose, which is a contact tracing system. This application is mandatory in establishments such as fast-food restaurants, banks, and malls. OBJECTIVE AND METHODOLOGY: The purpose of this research was to determine the country's willingness to utilize StaySafe PH. Specifically, this study utilized 12 latent variables from the integrated Protection Motivation Theory (PMT), Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2), and System Usability Scale (SUS). Data from 646 respondents in the Philippines were employed through Structural Equation Modelling (SEM), Deep Learning Neural Network (DLNN), and SUS. RESULTS: Utilizing the SEM, it is found that understanding the COVID-19 vaccine, understanding the COVID-19 Delta variant, perceived vulnerability, perceived severity, performance expectancy, social influence, hedonic motivation, behavioral intention, actual use, and the system usability scale are major determinants of intent to utilize the application. Understanding of the COVID-19 Delta Variant was found to be the most important factor by DLNN, which is congruent with the results of SEM. The SUS score of the application is "D", which implies that the application has poor usability. IMPLICATIONS: It could be implicated that large concerns stem from the trust issues on privacy, data security, and overall consent in the information needed. This is one area that should be promoted. That is, how the data is stored and kept, utilized, and covered by the system, how the assurance could be provided among consumers, and how the government would manage the information obtained. Building the trust is crucial on the development and deployment of these types of technology. The results in this study can also suggest that individuals in the Philippines expected and were certain that vaccination would help them not contract the virus and thus not be vulnerable, leading to a positive actual use of the application. NOVELTY: The current study considered encompassing health-related behaviors using the PMT, integrating with the technology acceptance model, UTAUT2; as well as usability perspective using the SUS. This study was the first one to evaluate and assess a contact tracing application in the Philippines, as well as integrate the frameworks to provide a holistic measurement.

RESUMO

In modern marketing, the emergence of mass customization has reoriented the focus from traditional marketing practices toward a customer-centric approach. The individualization feel among consumers and the innovative approach taken by businesses are currently evident in the market but has yet been holistically analyzed. This study applied a modified Theory of Planned Behavior by incorporating the need for individualization, hedonic and utilitarian motivations, with a 4Ps marketing mix - with the main objective to identify factors contributing to the intention to make purchase of customized products. The survey involved 311 participants who completed an online questionnaire utilizing purposive sampling approach, focusing on those who had previously bought customized products. Structural Equation Modeling was employed as a statistical method to analyze the data with SPSS AMOS v25. Findings revealed that the need for individualization proved to have the highest effect on the intention to purchase customized products, explaining that consumers who are strongly inclined toward individualization not only perceive greater value in customized products but also express a higher intention to purchase them. This was followed by its direct significant effect on attitude, with an even higher effect on perceived behavioral control, along with the marketing mix latent variable and customer perceived value on purchasing intention. This study offers valuable insights for retail brand management and provides potential strategies for business improvement. Moreover, a valuable contribution to the limited literature on the promotion of customized product purchases was identified. Lastly, the developed framework and implications may be applied and extended by future research in the consumer behavior field.

RESUMO

The demand for Industrial Engineers across the globe is significantly increasing and professional certifications give advantage in the job marketplace. The Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers (PIIE) - Industrial Engineering Certification Board facilitates the conferment of the Certified Industrial Engineer (CIE) in the Philippines. The goal of this study was to determine the factors affecting the intention IEs in the Philippines to take the CIE examination using an integration of the Perceived Value Theory and the Extended Theory of Planned Behavior. The research data were collected through an online distributed survey questionnaire to 690 graduating students and graduates from private and public universities across the Philippines. Employing a variance-based partial least squares structural equation modeling, the different significant variables and factors were assessed holistically. It was seen that attitude, perceived behavioral control, subjective norms, and understanding of the CIE examination have significant positive effects to intent to take the CIE examination and becoming a CIE. The perceived benefits and positive emotions brought by becoming a CIE significantly affects the attitude and behavior. This study also confirmed that the higher the perceived return on investment, the more the IEs will take the CIE examination. Moreover, demographic characteristics were identified to correlate and are significant among different variables. As a reflection, the findings and the integrated framework can be utilized in future studies related to development, career pathing, lifelong learning, and other related professional education.

RESUMO

Cancel culture is a prevalent boycotting practice used to exert pressure, express disapproval, and enforce consequences online. While multiple studies have been done on cancel culture's history, evolution, and effects, none of them were focused on Cancel Culture for Gen Z, the most socially aware and digitally inclined generation. The study aimed to uncover the factors that influence Gen Z's intention to participate and actual participation in cancel culture by utilizing a newly established integrated framework of Belief in a Just World (BJW) and the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). A total of 677 valid survey responses from Gen Z respondents were collected to thoroughly evaluate the belief and behavioral dimensions of cancel culture through the utilization of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The study's results showed that attitude towards cancel culture, the subjective norm of cancel culture, and perceived behavioral control, are strong facilitating conditions that drive Gen Z's intent and actual participation in canceling behavior. It was seen that BJW has no effect on actual canceling behavior and a reverse effect on the intention to participate in canceling behavior. For the canceling methods, 97 % will unsubscribe or unfollow accounts and 94.68 % will block or mute accounts. It was also discovered that Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube are the top social media platforms used by Gen Zs in the Philippines with at least a 94 % usage rate. The findings of this study may be utilized by businesses and policymakers on how to reduce the incidence and impact of cancel culture.

RESUMO

With the rising popularity of fitness supplements, understanding the factors driving their consumption behaviors is crucial. This study investigated the actual consumption of fitness supplements utilizing the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), Health Belief Model (HBM), and the Theory of Effort Minimization in Physical Activity (TEMPA) frameworks. The TPB provided insights into how attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control influence individuals' intentions to consume fitness supplements. Additionally, the HBM sheds light on perceived effectiveness, benefits, barriers, and health motivation related to supplement consumption. Integrating the TEMPA framework further investigated the role of effort minimization in physical activity contexts. Through an online questionnaire, data were collected from a sample of 250 fitness supplement-consuming respondents. SEM analysis revealed significant associations between behavioral intentions and attitudes, perceived behavioral control, health motivation, and controlled precursors. However, it was seen that subjective norms, perceived effectiveness, perceived benefits, and automatic precursors were deemed insignificant. The findings contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the factors shaping actual consumption behaviors, offering valuable implications for marketers, health professionals, and policymakers seeking to promote informed and responsible supplement use among health and fitness enthusiasts.

RESUMO

Cloud Storage (CS) is a service that digitally stores, remotely manages, backs up, and renders internet-accessible data. However, despite its known benefits compared to traditional storage devices, this service is not widely used in developing nations such as the Philippines. This study integrated the Valence Theoretical Framework into the Extended Technology Acceptance Model (ETAM) to evaluate the influence of twelve variables on Filipino consumers' behavioral intention (BI) toward adopting CS services. The data is gathered through an online survey. Structural Equation Modeling was employed to examine the responses of 431 cloud users, mainly students and working professionals. Results showed that Perceived Benefit and Perceived Usefulness were the strongest determinants of BI. The Job Relevance was also found to be a significant factor. Therefore, CS providers should find additional ways to make their offerings more beneficial for the daily tasks of students and working individuals. Furthermore, considering the substantial influence of Perceived Risk and Subjective Norms on BI, CS providers must strengthen their security measures to boost users' trust in their services. Consumers who receive excellent service are likely to give positive reviews, which can be helpful to individuals who might also be considering purchasing CS for their data. Although the focus of this study is CS services, this can also serve as a reference when analyzing the BI of consumers concerning the adoption of other novel technologies applied in various sectors, including education, e-commerce, healthcare, and more.

RESUMO

During the pandemic, artificial intelligence was employed and utilized by students around the globe. Students' conduct changed in a variety of ways when schooling returned to regular instruction. This study aimed to analyze the student's behavioral intention and actual academic use of communicational AI (CAI) as an educational tool. This study identified the variables by utilizing an integrated framework based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2) and self-determination theory. Through the use of an online survey and Structural Equation Modeling, data from 533 respondents were analyzed. The results showed that perceived relatedness has the most significant effect on the behavioral intention of students in using CAI as an educational tool, followed by perceived autonomy. It showed that students use CAI based on the objective and the possibility of increasing their productivity, rather than any other purpose in the education setting. Among the UTAUT2 domains, only facilitating conditions, habit, and performance expectancy provided a significant direct effect on behavioral intention and an indirect effect on actual academic use. Further implications were presented. Moreover, the methodology and framework of this study could be extended and applied to educational technology-related studies. Lastly, the outcome of this study may be considered in analyzing the behavioral intention of the students as the teaching-learning environment is still continuously expanding and developing.

RESUMO

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in behavioural changes in the way people consume food in Indonesia, because people tend to use online food delivery (OFD) services to order food after the pandemic. In line with this, application-based OFD service providers in Indonesia such as GoFood, GrabFood, ShopeeFood, and others are growing year after year, creating competition among OFD service providers. On the other hand, now that the COVID-19 pandemic condition has begun to improve, people may return to ordering food in the traditional manner, namely by visiting restaurants directly without using the OFD service application. As a result, it may jeopardize the stability of the OFD service business. As a result, the purpose of this study is to investigate the factors that influence the satisfaction and intent of OFD service users in Indonesia to continue using OFD services in the future. The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2), Expectancy Confirmation Model (ECM), online review, online rating, and online tracking were all combined to do structural equation modeling (SEM) using the PLS-SEM approach. Data were gathered using an online poll of 325 respondents who have used OFD services. According to the findings of the structural model analysis, effort expectancy, hedonic motivation, price-saving orientation, and confirmation all have a direct impact on the level of satisfaction of OFD service users. Meanwhile, performance expectancy, habit, online review, and satisfaction all influence the intention to continue using OFD services. The findings of this study can be used as a reference for OFD service providers as a service improvement strategy, as well as to expand the literature on consumer behaviour regarding OFD services and provide a foundation for future research.

RESUMO

Student loyalty generally refers to the formed bond between the student and a university. This relationship between a university and its students proves essential in a university's success in the competitive field of higher education institutions. The aim of this study was to determine the factors affecting students' loyalty among high school students to pursue their college or higher education in their current universities by utilizing Self-Determination Theory and Extended Theory of Planned Behavior. A total of 1224 high school students voluntarily participated and answered an online questionnaire that consist of 80 questions. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) showed that competency had the highest direct significant effect on perceived behavioral control which subsequently led to student satisfaction, followed by relatedness and empathy. In addition, student satisfaction had the highest direct effect significant effect on student loyalty, followed by university image and effectiveness. Interestingly, university ranking, programs offered, and kinship patronage also had significant indirect effects on student loyalty. This new framework may be a theoretical foundation for universities to enhance student loyalty and student recruitment. Considering students as customers, the satisfaction of students would result in an increase in the application which would present an increase in population, sales, marketability, and profitability of the university.
