[Dynamic stereovisometry]. / Dinamicheskaia stereovizometriia.

An original method of dynamic stereovisometry and a device for its realization Stereovisotest have been developed for examining the stereoscopic vision. Dynamic stereovisometry permitted the detection of positive and negative thresholds of stereoperception starting from the age of 4 years with an accuracy of 1 second of arc. The mean age-specific thresholds of stereoscopic vision were determined for a random sample of 1810 subjects aged 4 to 60 with binocular vision. For children aged 4 to 6 the mean threshold is 80 seconds of arc, in schoolchildren and adolescents it gradually reduces to 55 seconds of arc by the age of 16-20, from 21 to 40 the threshold remains at the level of 45 seconds of arc, after which it starts to increase and reaches 60 seconds of arc by 60. Stereoscopic vision of subjects whose profession requires precise vision was examined and criteria for vision assessment offered. Training of stereoscopic vision using the Stereovisotest device were carried out. The possibility of raising the thresholds of stereoscopic perception to physiological ones has been demonstrated.

Seventy autotransplantations of thoracodorsal flaps were carried out to repair defects on the head, face, and neck. Variants of such flaps are described. An extensive defect of any localization is an indication for the use of such grafts.

[Use of biocompatible soluble polymers in reconstructive surgery]. / Primenenie biosovmestimykh rassasyvaiushchikhsia polimerov v vosstanovitelnoi khirurgii.

The paper provides the functional characteristics and results of clinical application of implants based on N-vinylpyrrolidone-butylmethacrylate copolymer to eliminate mandibular bone defect. The implants are indicated to ensure reliable fixation and promote the formation of a valuable osseous regenerate due to their capacity to self-resolve and osteoconductivity. The application of the N-vinylpyrrolidone-butylmethacrylate copolymer-based implants substantially widens the scope of reconstructive surgery.

[Experience with the use of Soviet interstitial expanders for eliminating soft-tissue defects in the head and neck area]. / Opyt ispol'zovaniia sovetskikh vnutritkanevykh ékspanderov dlia ustraneniia miagkotkannykh defektov v oblasti golovy i shei.

Extension of the skin with the help of an interstitial expander allows to rationally use local tissues. Soviet models of tissue expanders of different designs were developed and approved in clinic. 46 operations were performed on 23 patients. Effective results of using the expanders were obtained during repairing extensive defects of the hairy part of the head.

[Plastic restoration of the concha auriculae by using a temperoparietal fascial flap]. / Plasticheskoe vosstanovlenie ushnoi rakoviny s ispol'zovaniem visochno-temennogo fastsial'nogo loskuta.

The authors describe the advantages of plastic restoration of concha auriculae with a temporoparietal vascularized fascial flap and an autocartilage carcass. They suggest a method for estimating the size of conchal skin surface and a coefficient that simplifies the clinical application of this method.

Defects of the external nose following treatment of malignant tumours and methods of their removal.

Defects of the nose after oncological operations were classified on the basis of clinical material and indications to primary and delayed rhinoplasty were pointed out. The problems of choosing the method of plasty were considered depending on the localization of the defect, its size and previous treatment. The advantages of arterialized flaps and free revascularized transplants were discussed. Examples were given.

[Development of a set of instruments and tools for fixation of facial bones by the Osipov-Ermolaev-Kulagov technic]. / Razrabotka komplekta instrumentov i prisposoblenii dlia fiksatsii kostei litsevogo skeleta po Osipovu-Ermolaevu-Kulagovu.

A kit of instruments and devices for the fixation of the facial skeleton according to Osipov-Ermolyaev-Kulagov method has been worked out to replace the two manufactured kits of similar purpose. The above kit has parts and devices with higher functional characteristics, the total number of instruments and the cost have been reduced.
