RESUMO

The paper presents quantum model of subjective text perception based on binary cognitive distinctions corresponding to words of natural language. The result of perception is quantum cognitive state represented by vector in the qubit Hilbert space. Complex-valued structure of the quantum state space extends the standard vector-based approach to semantics, allowing to account for subjective dimension of human perception in which the result is constrained, but not fully predetermined by input information. In the case of two distinctions, the perception model generates a two-qubit state, entanglement of which quantifies semantic connection between the corresponding words. This two-distinction perception case is realized in the algorithm for detection and measurement of semantic connectivity between pairs of words. The algorithm is experimentally tested with positive results. The developed approach to cognitive modeling unifies neurophysiological, linguistic, and psychological descriptions in a mathematical and conceptual structure of quantum theory, extending horizons of machine intelligence.

RESUMO

InSe is a promising material in many aspects where the role of excitons is decisive. Here we report the sequential appearance in its luminescence of the exciton, the biexciton, and the P-band of the exciton-exciton scattering while the excitation power increases. The strict energy and momentum conservation rules of the P-band are used to reexamine the exciton binding energy. The new value ≥20 meV is markedly higher than the currently accepted one (14 meV), being however well consistent with the robustness of the excitons up to room temperature. A peak controlled by the Sommerfeld factor is found near the bandgap (~1.36 eV). Our findings supported by theoretical calculations taking into account the anisotropic material parameters question the pure three-dimensional character of the exciton in InSe, assumed up to now. The refined character and parameters of the exciton are of paramount importance for the successful application of InSe in nanophotonics.

RESUMO

We report a remarkable enhancement of the magnetic moments of excitons as a result of their motion. This surprising result, which we have observed in magneto-optical studies of three distinct zinc-blende semiconductors, GaAs, CdTe, and ZnSe, becomes significant as the kinetic energy of the exciton becomes comparable with its Rydberg energy and is attributed to motionally induced changes in the internal structure of the exciton. The enhancement of the magnetic moment as a function of the exciton translational wave vector can be represented by a universal equation.

RESUMO

We report circular-to-linear and linear-to-circular conversion of optical polarization by semiconductor quantum dots. The polarization conversion occurs under continuous wave excitation in the absence of any magnetic field. The effect originates from quantum interference of linearly and circularly polarized photon states, induced by the natural anisotropic shape of the self-assembled dots. The behavior can be qualitatively explained in terms of a pseudospin formalism.

RESUMO

Circularly and linearly polarized radiation due to spatially indirect optical transitions is studied in semimagnetic (Zn,Mn)Se/BeTe and nonmagnetic ZnSe/BeTe quantum-well structures with a type-II band alignment. Because of the giant in-plane anisotropy of the optical matrix elements related to a particular interface, complete spin orientation of photocarriers induced by magnetic fields leads not to purely circular but instead to elliptical polarization of the luminescence. From comparison between theory and experiment the parameter of optical anisotropy of a ZnSe/BeTe interface is evaluated. The developed theoretical approach can be applied for the large class of nanostructures revealing optical anisotropy.

RESUMO

The intensive morbidity index in respect of allergic dermatoses has made up 12.07 in 1986, allergic dermatitis being the most prevalent (72%). The morbidity has been the highest among subjects aged 21 to 40. Seasonal changes in the allergic dermatoses incidence rates have been determined: skin itching, urticaria, and neurodermatitis have been the most prevalent in October, whereas eczema occurred mostly in May.

RESUMO

The effect of different amino acids on the hemicellulase synthesis by the fungus Aspergillus awamori 16-4E was investigated. The favorable influence of beta-alanine on the enzyme synthesis was demonstrated. Quantitative changes of beta-alanine and glutamic acid in the cell of Asp. awamori 16-4E were followed during the fungal development.
