RESUMO

Simpson-Golabi-Behmel syndrome (SGBS) is a rare X-linked recessive overgrowth disorder with prominent craniofacial manifestations. Macrodontia is also an uncommon dental anomaly that can be an isolated finding and has been associated with numerous systemic conditions and syndromes. This case report describes this previously unreported dental anomaly, macrodontia, in a patient with SGBS, which may broaden the phenotype of this syndrome. A brief review of the literature on orofacial findings associated with SGBS is also presented.

RESUMO

Little is known of the retest reliability of emotional cognitive tasks or the impact of using different tasks employing similar emotional stimuli within a battery. We investigated this in healthy subjects. We found improved overall performance in an emotional attentional blink task (EABT) with repeat testing at one hour and one week compared to baseline, but the impact of an emotional stimulus on performance was unchanged. Similarly, performance on a facial expression recognition task (FERT) was better one week after a baseline test, though the relative effect of specific emotions was unaltered. There was no effect of repeat testing on an emotional word categorising, recall and recognition task. We found no difference in performance in the FERT and EABT irrespective of task order. We concluded that it is possible to use emotional cognitive tasks in longitudinal studies and combine tasks using emotional facial stimuli in a single battery.

RESUMO

Current approaches to the management of severe mental illness have four major limitations: 1) symptom reporting is intermittent and subject to problems with reliability; 2) service users report feelings of disengagement from their care planning; 3) late detection of symptoms delay interventions and increase the risk of relapse; and 4) care systems are held back by the costs of unscheduled hospital admissions that could have been avoided with earlier detection and intervention. The ClinTouch system was developed to close the loop between service users and health professionals. ClinTouch is an end-to-end secure platform, providing a validated mobile assessment technology, a web interface to view symptom data and a clinical algorithm to detect risk of relapse. ClinTouch integrates high-resolution, continuous longitudinal symptom data into mental health care services and presents it in a form that is easy to use for targeting care where it is needed. The architecture and methodology can be easily extended to other clinical domains, where the paradigm of targeted clinical interventions, triggered by the early detection of decline, can improve health outcomes.
