RESUMO

Vaccinium species have great significance as fruit crops due to their economic and food values. Here we report the chloroplast genome of V. oxycoccos. The chloroplast genome of V. oxycoccos was 177,088 bp in length with a GC content of 36.74%. LSC, SSC, and IR regions were 104,139 bp, 3031 bp, and 34,959 bp in length, respectively. The chloroplast genome contained 105 different genes, including 73 protein-coding genes, 4 rRNA genes, and 28 tRNA genes. The phylogenetic analysis indicated that V. oxycoccos was closely related to V. microcarpum in the family Ericaceae. This chloroplast genome not only enriches the genome information of Vaccinium, but also will be useful in the evolution study of the family Ericaceae.

RESUMO

Phytochemical investigation of Chrysanthemum indicum L. yielded two new quinolinone glycoalkaloids named as Chrysanthemumsides A-B (1-2). The structures of the new compounds were elucidated by analysis of their 1D- and 2D-NMR, HRESIMS and ECD calculations. Compounds 1-4 were evaluated for antimicrobial activity against the Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida albicans, and the data showed that compound 2 had significant antimicrobial effects (MIC 3.9 to 7.8 µg/mL).

Traditional chemical pesticides pose potential threats to human health, the environment, and food safety, and there is an urgent need to develop botanical pesticides that are easily degradable, renewable, and environmentally compatible. This research serves to detect the lethal impacts of Amanita pantherina(DC.:Fr) Schrmm.(Agaricales, Amanitaceae, Amanita), Amanita virgineoides Bas (Agaricales, Amanitaceae, Amanita), Coprinus comatus (O.F.Müll.) Pers. (Agaricales, Psathyrellaceae, Coprinus), Pycnoporus cinnabarinus(Jacq.:Fr) Karst (Polyporales, Polyporaceae, Polyporus) and Phallus rubicundus (Bosc) Fr. (Phallales, Phallaceae, Phallus) on Drosophila melanogaster(Diptera, Drosophilidae, Drosophila), including their effects on lifespan, fecundity, offspring growth and developmental characteristics, antioxidant enzyme activity, peroxide content, and the gene transcription associated with signaling pathways and lifespan of D. melanogaster. The results demonstrated that they all produced lethal effects on D. melanogaster. Female flies were more sensitive to the addition of macrofungi to their diet and have a shorter survival time than male flies. The toxic activity of A. pantherina-supplemented diet was the strongest, so that the D. melanogaster in this group had no offspring. The macrofungal-supplemented diets were able to significantly reduce the activity of antioxidant enzymes, accumulate peroxidation products, up-regulatd the transcription of genes related to signaling pathways, inhibit the expression of longevity genes, reduce the lifespan and fertility of D. melanogaster. Consequently, we hypothetically suggest that medicinal C. comatus, P. cinnabarinus and P. rubicundus hold the potential to be developed into an environmentally friendly biopesticide for fly killing.

Ranunculus ternatus Thunb. 1784 is a plant with important medicinal values. Here we report its chloroplast genome. This chloroplast genome was 156,003 bp in length with a GC content of 37.86%. It is composed of a large single copy (LSC) of 85,397 bp and a small single copy (SSC) of 19,856 bp, which are separated by a pair of inverted repeats (IR) of 25,375 bp each. The chloroplast genome contained 110 unique genes, including 77 protein-coding genes, 4 rRNA genes, and 29 tRNA genes. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that R. ternatus was closely related to R. cassubicifolius. This chloroplast genome not only enriches the genome information of Ranunculus but also will be useful for the evolution study of the family Ranunculaceae.

OBJECTIVE: To summarize the relationship between lateral femoral notch sign (LFNS) and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture. METHODS: The relevant literature of LFNS at home and abroad in recent years was retrospectively reviewed, and its mechanism, diagnostic criteria and influencing factors in diagnosis of ACL rupture were summarized and analyzed. RESULTS: The LFNS is associated with rotational stability of the knee. As an indirect sign of ACL rupture, the LFNS has high clinical diagnostic value, especially the diagnosis of ACL rupture with lateral meniscus injury. CONCLUSION: The diagnostic criteria and influencing factors of LFNS in diagnosis of ACL rupture are still unclear and controversial, which needs further study.

Three novel polyoxometalate (POM) clusters of K10Na10[Dy3(H2O)6Ni(H2O)(W3O11)(B-α-SbW9O33)3]·(H2O)45 (1), (NH4)5K4Na8[Dy3(H2O)6SbV(H2O)(W3O11)(B-α-SbW9O33)3]·(H2O)50 (2), and (NH4)9Na[Ni2(H2O)6(WO2)2(B-ß-SbW9O33)2]·(H2O)24 (3) were successfully obtained using the same precursor under different ionic strength conditions. Structural analysis showed that compounds 1-3 possess discrepant structural characteristics in 1 M KCl, 1 M NH4Cl, and saturated NH4Cl, respectively. Among them, 2 is the first reported lanthanide cluster including both Sb3+ and Sb5+ in POM derivatives. Furthermore, the analysis of ac magnetic data proved that 1 and 2 embodied dramatic field-induced slow magnetic relaxation, and the effective barrier of 2 was estimated as Ueff/KB = 21.10 K based on the Orbach process. It was found that the structure and magnetic properties of POM materials can be regulated using an effective and satisfactory ionic strength-controlled strategy.

Phototropins (phot1 and phot2), the blue light receptors in plants, regulate hypocotyl phototropism in a fluence-dependent manner. Especially under high fluence rates of blue light (HBL), the redundant function mediated by both phot1 and phot2 drastically restricts the understanding of the roles of phot2. Here, systematic analysis of phototropin-related mutants and overexpression transgenic lines revealed that HBL specifically induced a transient increase in cytosolic Ca(2+) concentration ([Ca(2+)]cyt) in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) hypocotyls and that the increase in [Ca(2+)]cyt was primarily attributed to phot2. Pharmacological and genetic experiments illustrated that HBL-induced Ca(2+) increases were modulated differently by phot1 and phot2. Phot2 mediated the HBL-induced increase in [Ca(2+)]cyt mainly by an inner store-dependent Ca(2+)-release pathway, not by activating plasma membrane Ca(2+) channels. Further analysis showed that the increase in [Ca(2+)]cyt was possibly responsible for HBL-induced hypocotyl phototropism. An inhibitor of auxin efflux carrier exhibited significant inhibitions of both phototropism and increases in [Ca(2+)]cyt, which indicates that polar auxin transport is possibly involved in HBL-induced responses. Moreover, PHYTOCHROME KINASE SUBSTRATE1 (PKS1), the phototropin-related signaling element identified, interacted physically with phototropins, auxin efflux carrier PIN-FORMED1 and calcium-binding protein CALMODULIN4, in vitro and in vivo, respectively, and HBL-induced phototropism was impaired in pks multiple mutants, indicating the role of the PKS family in HBL-induced phototropism. Together, these results provide new insights into the functions of phototropins and highlight a potential integration point through which Ca(2+) signaling-related HBL modulates hypocotyl phototropic responses.

Blue light (BL)-induced stomatal opening and nitric oxide (NO)-promoted stomatal closure comprise two main aspects of stomatal regulation. Stomatal movement depends on ion fluxion in guard cells, whereas the physiological roles of BL or NO in regulating ion channel activities remain largely unknown. For gaining further insights into NO function in mediating BL-induced stomatal opening, guard cell protoplasts (GCPs) were patch-clamped in a whole-cell configuration. The results showed that twice BL pulses (100 µmol m⁻² s⁻¹ for 30s) effectively activated inward rectifying K⁺ channels by 67% and 20% in Vicia GCPs, respectively. In contrast, Red light (RL) showed little effect on inward rectifying K⁺ channels. In accord with this, BL also increased inward K⁺ currents by 54% in Arabidopsis thaliana wild type gl1, but not in phot1-5 phot2-1 (BL receptor phototropin deletion mutant). Sodium nitroprusside (SNP, a NO donor), at 100 µM, inhibited BL-dependent K⁺ influx and stomatal opening, which were abolished by c-PTIO (a specific NO scavenger). These results indicated that NO inhibits BL-induced stomatal opening maybe through restricting the K⁺ influx across plasma membrane in guard cells.
