RESUMO
Sarcoid-like reaction (SLR) is a cause of non-caseating granulomas in some of the cancer patients with otherwise no signs or symptoms of sarcoidosis. SLR has been described in a variety of solid organ malignancies, including breast and lung cancer. SLR may result in hypermetabolic activity in 18-fludeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (PET)/CT scan, resulting in false positive reporting for malignancy. The purpose of this case series is to expose residents/practising physicians who interpret PET/CT to a series of cases illustrating findings of SLR.
RESUMO
Guar gum-cerium (IV) tungstate nanocomposite (GG/CTNC) cationic exchanger was synthesized using simple sol gel method. The GG/CTNC was characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transmission infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectrophotometer (EDX). The XRD studies confirmed amorphous and fibrous in nature of GG/CTNC. The high percentage of oxygen in the nanocomposite material confirmed the functionality tungstate (WO4(-)). The ion exchange capacity of GG/CTNC for Na(+) ion was observed to be 1.30 mequivg(-1). The hybrid exchanger was used as potential adsorbent for the removal of methylene blue (MB) from aqueous system. The correlation coefficients value indicated a good fit of monolayer Langmuir model to the adsorption of methylene blue onto GG/CTNC. The adsorption kinetic study revealed that the adsorption process followed the pseudo second order kinetic. The Gibbs free energy (ΔG) values confirmed the spontaneous nature of adsorption process.

Twenty-seven patients with idiopathic palmoplanter hyperhidrosis were treated with Iontotherapy over a one year period. In twenty-four cases there was a good response but maintenance therapy was required every 3-4 weeks.
RESUMO
Unilateral distribution of psoriasis lesions was observed in a boy aged 15 years involving the right half of body.
RESUMO
In a comparative study, 60 patients of psoriasis vulgaris were subjected to PUVASOL and PUVASOL with trimcinolone acetonide in two different groups of 30 patients each. Patients given photochemotherapy with 8 MOP and local application of trimacinolone acetonide showed marked imorovement (66.6% and 60%) after 4 and 8 weeks of therapy in comparison to 26.6% and 16.6% in the group where no topical corticosteroids were applied. None of the patients showed any adverse reaction to the treatment.
RESUMO
Modified Pilocarpine Test was carried out in 48 patients under investigation for Leprosy. 37 cases showed deficient sweating of varying degree. Many of these patients did not reveal confirmatory histopathological changes and were bacteriologically negative. In the absence of other causes of neuropathy this finding of deficient sweating by modified pilocarpine test, was significant. Same test was carried out in 8 confirmed cases of Tuberculoid leprosy. All cases showed positive results.

Drug trial with CIBA 1906 was conducted in 50 cases of lepromatous leprosy who were intolerant to dapsone therapy. Drug was tolerated well and lepra reactions were infrequent and mild. Clinical improvement was seen in 72% cases whereas no appreciable change was detected in 28% cases. An average reduction of 0.4 in BI was detected in 62% cases, while remaining cases did not show any reduction in BI. No significant side effects were encountered during the study. Antibacterial activity of CIBA 1906 was not found superior to dapsone.

A patient with classical features of Behcet's Syndrome is presented. The case which initially had ophthalmological manifestations posed great difficulty in diagnosis until the genital and oral ulcerations appeared. Systemic manifestations in the form of arthritis and hepatomegaly appeared still later. Neurological involvement set in as a terminal event.
RESUMO
35 cases of lepromatous leprosy were studied to evaluate the effective blood level and long depot action of acedapsone (DADDS). It was revealed that serum level of this drug is maintained well above the minimum inhibitory concentration upto 60 days following single intramuscular injection. No significant untoward effects of the drug were encountered except one case of Erythema Nodosum Leprosum and six patients with mild reactional symptoms in the form of fever and arthralgia.

RESUMO
The effects of the essential oils of onion and garlic have been investigated in cholesterol-fed rabbits and have been compared with the effects of clofibrate. The marked rise in serum cholesterol and blood coagulability that followed 3 months of cholesterol feeding (0.2 g/kg/day) was significantly reduced by the essential oils of both onion and garlic. Fibrinolytic activity was actually increased even above the normal control levels. The essential oils of onion and garlic (equivalent to 1 g/kg/day of raw bulbs) proved more effective than clofibrate in the usual clinical dose of 33 mg/kg/day. Garlic was even more effective than onion. Cholesterol feeding increased the average lipid content of aorta from 5.95 to 13.75 mg/100 mg dry weight. With addition of clofibrate, onion or garlic the values were 7.79, 6.23 and 5.28 mg/100 ml, respectively. Thus it can be seen that the essential oils effectively prevent lipid acculation in the rabbit oarta.
