RESUMO

In traditional textile manufacturing, downstream manufacturers use raw materials, such as Nylon and cotton yarns, to produce textile products. The manufacturing process involves warping, sizing, beaming, weaving, and inspection. Staff members typically use a trial-and-error approach to adjust the appropriate production parameters in the manufacturing process, which can be time consuming and a waste of resources. To enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of textile manufacturing economically, this study proposes a query-based learning method in regression analytics using existing manufacturing data. Query-based learning allows the model training to evolve its decision-making process through dynamic interactions with its solution space. In this study, predefined target parameters of quality factors were first used to validate the training results and create new training patterns. These new patterns were then imported into the solution space of the training model. In predicting product quality, the results show that the proposed query-based regression algorithm has a mean squared error of 0.0153, which is better than those of the original regression-related methods (Avg. mean squared error = 0.020). The trained model was deployed as an application programing interface (API) for cloud-based analytics and an extensive auto-notification service.

Social defeat stress (SDS) due to changes in biochemical functions has been implicated in the pathogenesis of affective and cognitive disorders. Employing pharmacological approach with adaptogens in the management and treatment of psychosocial stress is increasingly receiving scientific attention. In this study, we investigated the neuroprotective effect of rutin, a bioflavonoid with neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory functions on neurobehavioral and neuro-biochemical changes in mice exposed to SDS. Groups of mice named the intruder mice received normal saline (10 mL/kg), rutin (5, 10, and 20 mg/kg, i.p.), and ginseng (50 mg/kg, i.p.) daily for 14 days, and then followed by 10 min daily SDS (physical/psychological) exposures to aggressor mice from days 7-14. Investigations consisting of neurobehavioral (locomotion, memory, anxiety, and depression) phenotypes, neuro-biochemical (oxidative, nitrergic, cholinergic, and pro-inflammatory cytokines) levels in discrete brain regions, and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis consisting adrenal weight, corticosterone, and glucose concentrations were assessed. Rutin restored the neurobehavioral deficits and reduced the activity of acetylcholinesterase in the brains. Adrenal hypertrophy, increased serum glucose and corticosterone levels were significantly attenuated by rutin. SDS-induced release of tumor necrosis factor-alpha and interleukin-6 in the striatum, prefrontal cortex, and hippocampus were also suppressed by rutin in a brain-region-dependent manner. Moreover, SDS-induced oxidative stress characterized by low antioxidants (glutathione, superoxide-dismutase, catalase) and lipid peroxidation and nitrergic stress were reversed by rutin in discrete brain regions. Collectively, our data suggest that rutin possesses an adoptogenic potential in mice exposed to SDS via normalization of HPA, oxidative/nitrergic, and neuroinflammatory inhibitions. Thus, may be adopted in the management of neuropsychiatric syndrome due to psychosocial stress.

Variable clinical criteria taken by medical professionals across the world for myocarditis following coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination along with wide variation in treatment necessitates understanding and reviewing the same. A systematic review was conducted to elucidate the clinical findings, laboratory parameters, treatment and outcomes of individuals with myocarditis after COVID-19 vaccination after registering with PROSPERO. Electronic databases including MEDLINE, EMBASE, PubMed, LitCovid, Scopus, ScienceDirect, Cochrane Library, Google Scholar and Web of Science were searched. A total of 85 articles encompassing 2184 patients were analysed. It was a predominantly male (73.4%) and young population (mean age: 25.5 ± 14.2 years) with most having taken an mRNA-based vaccine (99.4%). The mean duration from vaccination to symptom onset was 4.01 ± 6.99 days. Chest pain (90.1%), dyspnoea (25.7%) and fever (11.9%) were the most common symptoms. Only 2.3% had comorbidities. CRP was elevated in 83.3% and cardiac troponin in 97.6% patients. An abnormal ECG was reported in 979/1313 (74.6%) patients with ST-segment elevation being most common (34.9%). Echocardiographic data were available for 1243 patients (56.9%), of whom 288 (23.2%) had reduced left ventricular ejection fraction. Non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs (76.5%), steroids (14.1%) followed by colchicine (7.3%) were used for treatment. Only 6 patients died among 1317 of whom data were available. Myocarditis following COVID-19 vaccination is often mild, seen more commonly in young healthy males and is followed by rapid recovery with conservative treatment. The emergence of this adverse event calls for harmonizing case definitions and definite treatment guidelines, which require wider research.

Nowadays, many old analog gauges still require the use of manual gauge reading. It is a time-consuming, expensive, and error-prone process. A cost-effective solution for automatic gauge reading has become a very important research topic. Traditionally, different types of gauges have their own specific methods for gauge reading. This paper presents a systematized solution called SGR (Scale-mark-based Gauge Reading) to automatically read gauge values from different types of gauges. Since most gauges have scale marks (circular or in an arc), our SGR algorithm utilizes PCA (principal components analysis) to find the primary eigenvector of each scale mark. The intersection of these eigenvectors is extracted as the gauge center to ascertain the scale marks. Then, the endpoint of the gauge pointer is found to calculate the corresponding angles to the gauge's center. Using OCR (optical character recognition), the corresponding dial values can be extracted to match with their scale marks. Finally, the gauge reading value is obtained by using the linear interpolation of these angles. Our experiments use four videos in real environments with light and perspective distortions. The gauges in the video are first detected by YOLOv4 and the detected regions are clipped as the input images. The obtained results show that SGR can automatically and successfully read gauge values. The average error of SGR is nearly 0.1% for the normal environment. When the environment becomes abnormal with respect to light and perspective distortions, the average error of SGR is still less than 0.5%.

Since the power of transmitting one-bit data is higher than that of computing one thousand lines of code in IoT (Internet of Things) applications, it is very important to reduce communication costs to save battery power and prolong system lifetime. In IoT sensors, the transformation of physical phenomena to data is usually with distortion (bounded-error tolerance). It introduces bounded-error data in IoT applications according to their required QoS2 (quality-of-sensor service) or QoD (quality-of-decision making). In our previous work, we proposed a bounded-error data compression scheme called BESDC (Bounded-Error-pruned Sensor Data Compression) to reduce the point-to-point communication cost of WSNs (wireless sensor networks). Based on BESDC, this paper proposes an online bounded-error query (OBEQ) scheme with edge computing to handle the entire online query process. We propose a query filter scheme to reduce the query commands, which will inform WSN to return unnecessary queried data. It not only satisfies the QoS2/QoD requirements, but also reduces the communication cost to request sensing data. Our experiments use real data of WSN to demonstrate the query performance. Results show that an OBEQ with a query filter can reduce up to 88% of the communication cost when compared with the traditional online query process.

In the past decade, the scale of e-commerce has continued to grow. With the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, brick-and-mortar businesses have been actively developing online channels where precision marketing has become the focus. This study proposed using the electrocardiography (ECG) recorded by wearable devices (e.g., smartwatches) to judge purchase intentions through deep learning. The method of this study included a long short-term memory (LSTM) model supplemented by collective decisions. The experiment was divided into two stages. The first stage aimed to find the regularity of the ECG and verify the research by repeated measurement of a small number of subjects. A total of 201 ECGs were collected for deep learning, and the results showed that the accuracy rate of predicting purchase intention was 75.5%. Then, incremental learning was adopted to carry out the second stage of the experiment. In addition to adding subjects, it also filtered five different frequency ranges. This study employed the data augmentation method and used 480 ECGs for training, and the final accuracy rate reached 82.1%. This study could encourage online marketers to cooperate with health management companies with cross-domain big data analysis to further improve the accuracy of precision marketing.

The successive auration of p-tert-butyltetramercaptotetrathiacalix[4]arene, H4 (MTC[4]), with gold(I) phosphine units was investigated. Through deprotonation with NaOMe, followed by salt metathesis reactions with (PR3 )AuCl (R=Me, Ph) complexes with two and three [(PR3 )Au]+ moieties could be prepared and isolated, namely [(Ph3 PAu)2 H2 (MTC[4])] and [(Me3 PAu)3 H(MTC[4])]. In [(Me3 PAu)3 H(MTC[4])] two gold atoms already come close enough to undergo aurophilic interactions. To introduce a fourth [(PR3 )Au]+ entity TlOEt had to be used for the deprotonation, which led to the finding that four gold atoms organised by the (MTC[4])4- coordination platform are able to bind and stabilize a TlCl entity, yielding [(Me3 PAu)4 TlCl(MTC[4])]. As evidenced by structural and theoretical investigations the binding occurs through strong metallophilic interactions, which lead to photoluminescence at low temperatures.

Endemic goitre and associated iodine deficiency disorders (IDDs) are a major concern in public health even in the period of post salt iodization in many regions. Among others the consumption of cyanogenic plants found responsible for the persistence of such diseases. Bamboo shoots (BS) is one such cyanogenic plant food that caused disruption of certain thyroid hormone synthesizing regulatory element as has already been reported in our earlier study. In this investigation the possible mechanism of thyrocytes disruption along with interruption of thyroid hormone biosynthesis by BS has been worked out. Commonly consumed BS, Bambusa Balcooa Roxb (BBR) water extract was analysed by GC MS; three doses below IC50 were administered to thyrocytes in culture with and without iodine. Expressions of thyroglobulin (Tg), pendrin (PDS) and monocarboxylate transporter 8 (MCT8) were evaluated in thyrocytes with cell cycle analysis, reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, DNA oxidation and apoptotic regulation through Bax, Bcl-2 and p53. Phytochemical analysis of BBR extract revealed the presence of precursors and metabolic end products of cyanogenic glycosides. Dose dependent decrease in expression of Tg and PDS with concomitant decrease in gene expression of these with MCT8 were observed. Increased ROS, DNA oxidation and associated imbalance were found through increased Bax and p53 with decreased Bcl-2 that perturbed thyrocytes cell cycle. Cyanogenic constituents of BBR generates ROS associated oxidative changes in thyrocytes with DNA damage and oxidation and cell cycle disruption followed by inhibition of thyroid hormone synthesizing regulatory elements; addition of extra iodine showed partial prevention.

Oncology nurses are at the heart of tackling the increasing global burden of cancer. Their contribution is unique because of the scale and the diversity of care roles and responsibilities in cancer care. In this Series paper, to celebrate the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife, we highlight the contribution and impact of oncology nurses along the cancer care continuum. Delivering people-centred integrated care and optimal communication are essential components of oncology nursing care, which are often played down. More oncology nurses using, doing, and leading research will further show the key nursing impact on care as part of a team. The oncology nurse influence in saving lives through prevention and early detection of cancer is noteworthy. Supportive care, the central pillar of oncology nursing, enables and empowers people to self-manage where possible. Globally, oncology nurses make a great positive difference to cancer care worldwide; their crucial contribution throughout the continuum of care warrants the inclusion and promotion of nursing in every country's cancer strategy. 2020 is the year of the nurse: let us take this learning to the future.

Differential approach is becoming highly preferred in radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC) design due to its advantages, particularly its high immunity to common-mode noises, satisfactory rejection of parasitic coupling, and increased dynamic range. One particular RF front-end building block that is often designed as differential circuit is the mixer. This paper presents a study and design of a differential mixer, particularly the double-balanced mixer implemented on a zero-IF (zero-intermediate frequency) or direct-conversion architecture in a standard 90 nm complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) process operating at frequency of 5 GHz, which is a typical frequency for worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) receiver. Impedance matching was necessary to fully optimize the mixer design. The zero-IF double-balanced mixer design achieved conversion gain of 11.46 dB and noise figure of 16.53 dB, comparable to other mixer designs.

BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to determine perioperative professional fee payments to providers from different specialties for the care of patients undergoing inpatient open ventral hernia repair (VHR). METHODS: Perioperative data of patients undergoing VHR at a single center over 3 years were selected from our NSQIP database. 180-day follow-up data were obtained via retrospective review of records and phone calls to patients. Professional fee payments (PFPs) to all providers were obtained from our physician billing system for the VHR hospitalization, the 180 days prior to operation (180Prior) and the 180 days post-discharge (180Post). RESULTS: PFPs for 283 cases were analyzed. Average total 360-day PFPs per patient were $3409 ± SD 3294, with 14.5% ($493 ± 1546) for services in the 180Preop period, 72.5% ($2473 ± 1881) for the VHR hospitalization, and 13.0% ($443 ± 1097) in the 180Postop period. The surgical service received 62% of PFPs followed by anesthesia (18%), medical specialties (9%), radiology (6%), and all other provider services (5%). Medical specialties received increased PFPs for care of patients with COPD and HCT < 38% ($90 and $521, respectively) and for the pulmonary complications ($2471) and sepsis ($2714) that correlated with those patient comorbidities; surgeons did not. Operative duration, mesh size, and separation of components were associated with increased surgeon PFPs (p < .05). At 6 months, wound complications were associated with increased surgeon and radiology payments (p < .01). CONCLUSIONS: Management of acute comorbid conditions and the associated higher postoperative morbidity is not reimbursed to the surgeon under the 90-day global fee. These represent opportunity costs of care that pressure busy surgeons to select against these patients or to delegate more management to their medical specialty colleagues, thereby increasing total system costs. A comorbid risk adjustment of procedural reimbursement is warranted. In negotiating bundled payments, surgeon groups should keep in mind that surgeon reimbursement, unlike medical specialty and hospital reimbursement, have been bundled since the 1990s.

INTRODUCTION: The objectives of this study were to assess the incidence and risk factors for venous thromboembolism (VTE) in a population of patients hospitalized in a psychiatric setting. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Episodes of VTE occurring in patients hospitalized at the Erstein Hospital (France), specialized in psychiatry, were retrospectively identified from a computerized database. The clinical, somatic, psychiatric and therapeutic characteristics of each patient were analyzed in comparison with a control population composed of patients of similar age and sex, hospitalized during the same period in a psychiatric setting but who did not suffer from VTE. RESULTS: Between January 2012 and October 2015, 12,320 patients were hospitalized. Forty-one patients experienced an episode of VTE, giving an incidence of 47.8per1000patient-years (3.32 cases per 1000 patients). Restriction of mobility (restraint or confinement), somatic clinical profile, psychiatric diagnosis or psychotropic treatment were not associated with an increased risk of VTE. The event occurred within the first 48h of hospitalization for 31.7% of patients, and within the first week for 56.1%. Time to onset for the occurrence of VTE between admission and the end of the first week was significantly associated with acute decompensation of a chronic psychiatric pathology (p=0.003). CONCLUSION: The incidence of VTE in a psychiatric setting is high. Acute decompensation of a chronic psychiatric pathology is associated with a risk of VTE.

BACKGROUND: The differences in ablation characteristics of freezing time and balloon size using second generation cryoballoon are still unknown. METHODS AND RESULTS: Twenty-six dogs underwent pulmonary vein (PV) isolation. Balloon and tissue temperatures (left atrial-PV junction, phrenic nerve, and internal esophagus) were monitored. The ablation duration was randomized to either 3 or 4 minutes, which did not show significant differences in temperature profiles, PV isolation success rate, complications, or histological changes. Twenty dogs underwent cryoablation using 28-mm cryoballoon, 6 dogs were done using the 23-mm cryoballoon. Positioning of the 23-mm cryoballoon was more distal in the PV, which resulted in better PV occlusion. Temperature profiles showed lower temperatures in the 23-mm cryoballoon than in the 28-mm cryoballoon (inner balloon, median [range]: -51.5 [-66.0 to -31.0] versus -43.0 [-64.0 to -26.0]°C, P<0.001; balloon surface: -43.0 [-60.0 to -15.8] versus -6.5 [-46.2 to 28.9]°C, P<0.001; left atrial-PV junction: -6.7 [-20.0 to 21.4] versus 15.8 [-14.4 to 35.1]°C, P<0.001), and trended toward a higher PV isolation success rate in the 23-mm cryoballoon. Histologically, deeper extensions of ablative lesions into the PV were seen with 23-mm cryoballoon, and larger ablative lesions were seen in the left atrial antrum using 28-mm cryoballoon. CONCLUSIONS: The efficacy of 3-minute ablation was not significantly different from 4-minute ablation in dogs. The 23-mm cryoballoon had a greater cooling effect than the 28-mm cryoballoon for small PVs, but showed narrower ablative lesions in the left atrial antrum.

JUSTIFICATION: The need to revise Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) growth charts for 5- to 18-year-old Indian children and adolescents was felt as India is in nutrition transition and previous IAP charts are based on data which are over two decades old. PROCESS: The Growth Chart Committee was formed by IAP in January 2014 to design revised growth charts. Consultative meeting was held in November 2014 in Mumbai. Studies performed on Indian children's growth, nutritional assessment and anthropometry from upper and middle socioeconomic classes in last decade were identified. Committee contacted 13 study groups; total number of children in the age group of 5 to 18 years were 87022 (54086 boys). Data from fourteen cities (Agartala, Ahmadabad, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Madurai, Mumbai, Mysore, Pune, Raipur and Surat) in India were collated. Data of children with weight for height Z scores >2 SD were removed from analyses. Data on 33148 children (18170 males, 14978 females) were used to construct growth charts using Cole's LMS method. OBJECTIVE: To construct revised IAP growth charts for 5-18 year old Indian children based on collated national data from published studies performed on apparently healthy children and adolescents in the last 10 years. RECOMMENDATIONS: The IAP growth chart committee recommends these revised growth charts for height, weight and body mass index (BMI) for assessment of growth of 5-18 year old Indian children to replace the previous IAP charts; rest of the recommendations for monitoring height and weight remain as per the IAP guidelines published in 2007. To define overweight and obesity in children from 5-18 years of age, adult equivalent of 23 and 27 cut-offs presented in BMI charts may be used. IAP recommends use of WHO standards for growth assessment of children below 5 years of age.

BACKGROUND: Thermodynamics in the left atrium-pulmonary vein (PV) junction, phrenic nerve, and esophagus during PV isolation (PVI) using the second-generation cryoballoon are not known. METHODS AND RESULTS: Twenty dogs underwent PVI using second-generation cryoballoon. Ablations were performed for ≤2 deliveries based on PVI without a bonus freeze. Inner balloon, balloon surface, and tissue temperatures were monitored during cryoablation. The tissue thermocouples were placed on the epicardial surface of the left atrium-PV junction, as well as on the phrenic nerve and within the esophagus. A total of 259 cryoballoon and 229 tissue tissue thermocouples profiles during 53 cryoablations of 40 PVs were analyzed. Acutely, PVI was achieved in 36 of 40 PVs (90%). Conductive tissue cooling spread radially from the balloon-left atrium-PV contact point. The lowest tissue temperatures were dependent on the distance of the tissue thermocouples to the balloon surface (r=0.85; P<0.001). In addition, blood flow leaks around the balloon had a warming effect on the balloon and tissue temperature profiles. Chronic isolation (mean, 48±16 days) was achieved in 27 of 36 PVs (75%). In 8 of 9 acutely isolated but with chronic reconnection PVs, the blood flow leak location was concordant with chronic reconnection gap. Although only 1 esophageal ulcerated lesion was observed, neither phrenic nerve palsy nor severe PV stenosis was seen in any dogs. CONCLUSIONS: Variance in tissue thermodynamics during cryothermal ablation depends on the distance from balloon and peri-balloon blood flow leaks. This information may be useful for successful PVI without severe complications.

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to analyze the weather influence on the onset of renal colic (RC), acute urinary retention (AUR) and testicular torsion (TT). MATERIALS AND METHODS: We correlated the daily number of RC, AUR and TT cases admitted to our urology department and weather conditions between 2005 and 2009 on day-to-day basis. Eight hundred and seventy-six RC, 453 AUR and 50 TT were analyzed. Information on temperature, atmospheric pressure, relative humidity, vapor pressure, wind force, evapotranspiration and sunshine level were collected from the national meteorological office (Meteo-France) in Besançon, France. We performed a univariate and a multivariate Stepwise method in linear regression using Akaike Information Criterion. RESULTS: We reported a statistically significant increased risk of renal colic at higher vapor pressure. Likewise, temperature seemed to be a risk factor for occurrence of renal colics. We determined an increased daily rate when maximal daily temperature rises above 20 Celsius degrees (P = 0.05). Furthermore, we observed a positive link between mean (P = 0.05) and minimal (P = 0.08) daily temperature and urolithiasis. Contrarywise AUR was more frequent when the mean temperature falls below zero Celsius degree. We also demonstrated a non-significant influence of temperature on TT, with 3 fold higher events during cold period. Much more mystic, we noted a higher AUR rate on new moon days, and fewer renal colic on full moon. CONCLUSIONS: Further investigations are necessary to understand the mechanisms underlying the relationship between urologic diseases and climate. But our findings could help us justify healthy living messages.

BACKGROUND: Even though neoadjuvant chemotherapy has shown no benefits on overall survival (OS), it is being widely used in the treatment of breast cancer. This is based on the assumption that it may diminish the mastectomy rate and therefore be clinically relevant for patients. Our objective was to assess the impact of neoadjuvant chemotherapy on OS and on the rate of mastectomy in patients with non-metastatic primary operable breast carcinoma in routine practice. METHODS: The Cote d'Or district breast cancer registry was used to analyse the OS and mastectomy rate in patients with invasive primary operable unilateral breast cancer diagnosed between 1982 and 2006. We performed Cox proportional hazard ratio (HR) analyses for OS and multivariate logistic regression for the mastectomy rate for the overall population. Different matching methods based on the propensity score were used as sensitivity analyses to ensure that corrections for selection bias were adequate. RESULTS: We analysed 1578 patients, among whom 174 had received neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Median follow-up was 11.1 years. There was no difference between the two treatment groups for OS (HR=1.08 (95% confidence interval (CI): 0.77-1.51 for neoadjuvant chemotherapy)). The mastectomy rate was higher among patients treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy (odds ratio 1.54 (95%CI: 1.03-2.31)). Sensitivity analyses confirmed these results: for OS, there was no difference between the two populations precisely matched using propensity scores (HR 1.08; 95%CI: 0.671-1.65). CONCLUSION: Despite long term follow-up, neoadjuvant chemotherapy provided no benefit for either OS or the mastectomy rate in our population.

The leaves of Ficus exasperata Vahl Enum. Pl. vahl (Moraceae) are used by traditional healers in Southern Nigeria and some parts of Africa to avoid preterm births. However, previous reports showed that the plant also exhibited uterine contractions at specific concentrations. This study is therefore aimed at investigating the purported uterine inhibitory aspect of the plant on the isolated rat uterus. The aqueous extract (AET) was tested on rhythmic spontaneous uterine contractions. Concentration-response relationships were obtained for oxytocin (OT), acetylcholine (ACh) and ergometrine (EGM), in the presence or absence of fixed concentrations of AET. Salbutamol (SBL) and verapamil (VER) were used as positive controls. AET, at 1.0 x 10(-2) mg/mL, significantly increased (p < 0.05) the EC50 of oxytocin-induced contractions but had no significant effect on ACh, EGM and spontaneous uterine contractions. However, SBL and VER significantly increased (p < 0.01) the EC50, of OT, ACh and EGM and significantly inhibited (p < 0.01) the frequency and amplitude of spontaneous uterine contractions. The aqueous leaf extract of F. exasperata inhibits oxytocin-induced uterine contractions at the concentration shown in this study. This observation may explain its folkloric use in counteracting preterm contractions and alleviating dysmenorrhoea.
