RESUMO

We report a minimal microtubule-based motile system displaying signatures of unconventional diffusion. The system consists of a single model cargo driven by an ensemble of N340K NCD motors along a single microtubule. Despite the absence of cytosolic or cytoskeleton complexity, the system shows complex behavior, characterized by sub-diffusive motion for short time lag scales and linear mean squared displacement dependence for longer time lags. The latter is also shown to have non-Gaussian character and cannot be ascribed to a canonical diffusion process. We use single particle tracking and analysis at varying temperatures and motor concentrations to identify the origin of these behaviors as enzymatic activity of mutant NCD. Our results show that signatures of non-Gaussian diffusivities can arise as a result of an active process and suggest that some immotility of cargos observed in cells may reflect the ensemble workings of mechanochemical enzymes and need not always reflect the properties of the cytoskeletal network or the cytosol.

RESUMO

The Raman spectrum of atelestite Bi2O(OH)(AsO4), a hydroxy-arsenate mineral containing bismuth, has been studied in terms of spectra-structure relations. The studied spectrum is compared with the Raman spectrum of atelestite downloaded from the RRUFF database. The sharp intense band at 834 cm(-1) is assigned to the ν1 AsO4(3-) (A1) symmetric stretching mode and the three bands at 767, 782 and 802 cm(-1) to the ν3 AsO4(3-) antisymmetric stretching modes. The bands at 310, 324, 353, 370, 395, 450, 480 and 623 cm(-1) are assigned to the corresponding ν4 and ν2 bending modes and BiOBi (vibration of bridging oxygen) and BiO (vibration of non-bridging oxygen) stretching vibrations. Lattice modes are observed at 172, 199 and 218 cm(-1). A broad low intensity band at 3095 cm(-1) is attributed to the hydrogen bonded OH units in the atelestite structure. A weak band at 1082 cm(-1) is assigned to δ(BiOH) vibration.

RESUMO

A voglite mineral sample of Volrite Canyon #1 mine, Frey Point, White Canyon Mine District, San Juan County, Utah, USA is used in the present study. An EPR study on powdered sample confirms the presence of Mn(II) and Cu(II). Optical absorption spectral results are due to Cu(II) which is in distorted octahedron. NIR results are indicating the presence of water fundamentals.

RESUMO

Pelecypod shell originated from Kolleru lake of Andhra Pradesh is used in the present work. It contains Mn(II) and Fe(III) in traces. The EPR spectrum of the compound is due to Mn(II) which is in three independent sites. The three g values are evaluated with slight differences. The hyperfine component varies from 9.33 to 9.49mT. The zero field splitting parameter is also ranges from 43.8(1) to 44.1(1)mT. Using the covalence parameter the number of ligands around metal is estimated as 20. In EPR spectrum Fe(III) is identified. The optical absorption spectrum is attributed to Mn(II) in octahedral geometry. Further 10 Dq band is attributed to Fe(II) in the optical absorption spectrum. NIR spectral results are due to water fundamentals, whereas IR and Raman spectrum is due to carbonate ion fundamentals.

RESUMO

Octahedrally-coordinated Cr(3+) possesses peculiar spectral features which made easy to identify it in minerals, even in minor amounts. Chromium has been studied in uvarovite and fuchsite by optical and EPR spectra. Optical, EPR, FT-infrared and EPMA studies have also let to determine the presence of Fe(3+) and Ti(3+) and fluid inclusions within uvarovite and fuchsite. Absorption and scattering effects on the optical spectra obtained for Cr-bearing samples, resulting from the presence of inclusions, are also discussed in this work.

RESUMO

A copper-doped LiRbB4O7 crystal was grown by the Czochralski technique. Powder X-ray, EPR and optical absorption studies were carried out. The results and discussion of the copper doped LiRbB4O7 crystal indicate that the copper ions enter the host lattice by replacing Li ions. The Cu(II) ion spectrum is characteristic of a tetragonally elongated octahedral site. Lattice and spin-Hamiltonian parameters were evaluated. The bonding parameters indicate that the bonding between copper and the ligands is partly covalent.

RESUMO

Chromium containing mica is called fuchsite. Fuchsite originating from the Nellore district of India containing 3.37 wt.% of chromium is used in the present study. Optical absorption and EPR studies were carried out at room temperature (RT). The optical absorption spectrum gives energies at 14925, 15070, 15715, 16400, 17730 and 21740 cm(-1), which are attributed to spin-allowed transitions for Cr(3+) in an octahedral symmetry. EPR spectra show a strong resonance with g=1.98 along with two sets of weak resonances which are attributed to two sets of chromium in the sample. The zero field splitting parameter (D) is almost zero. These spectra are due to Cr(3+) in the mineral. The NIR spectrum is due to hydroxyl ions in the sample.

RESUMO

The iron phosphate minerals satterlyite and gormanite have been investigated by EPR and optical absorption studies. The optical results indicate the presence of ferrous and ferric ions in both minerals. In gormanite the site symmetry of Fe(III) is near octahedral whereas in satterlyite it is tetragonally distorted. On the other hand, the Fe(II) ions are in tetragonally distorted octahedral site in both minerals. In satterlyite the EPR results indicate the presence of the ferric ion in a tetragonally distorted state together with a small percentage of Mn(II). Crystal field (Dq) and interelectronic parameters (B and C) are evaluated.

RESUMO

EPR, Optical and IR spectral studies on a naturally occurring mineral melanterite are carried out at room temperature. EPR studies indicate the presence of Cu(II) ion in tetragonally distorted octahedral site and hyperfine lines could not be resolved due to higher concentration of the paramagnetic impurity in the mineral. Optical absorption spectrum is a characteristic of Fe(II) and Cu(II) ions. Crystal field parameters are evaluated. IR spectrum confirms the presence of water and sulphate ions.

RESUMO

Single crystal electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) studies on Cu(II) doped zinc potassium phosphate hexahydrate (ZPPH) were carried out at room temperature. The angular variation spectra in the three orthogonal planes indicate that the paramagnetic impurity has entered the lattice substitutionally in place of Zn(II) and the spin Hamiltonian parameters calculated from these spectra are g(xx) = 2.188, g(yy) = 2.032, g(zz) = 2.373, Axx = 50 G, Ayy = 65.0 G and Azz = 80 G. The g and A tensors were coincident and these values matched fairly well with the values obtained from powder spectrum. The bonding parameters have also been calculated.

RESUMO

Single crystal electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) studies were carried at room temperature for VO(II) doped zinc potassium phosphate hexahydrate. The results indicate that the paramagnetic impurity has entered the lattice only substitutionally, as confirmed by the single crystal rotations. The spin Hamiltonian parameters calculated from the spectra are g parallel = 1.9356, g perpendicular = 1.9764, A parallel = 200.9 G and A perpendicular = 76.5 G. The optical absorption spectrum exhibits three bands (800, 670 and 340 nm) suggesting the C4v symmetry and the optical parameters evaluated are Dq = 1492, Ds = -3854 and Dt = 186 cm(-1).
