RESUMO
In 45% of 212 cases of diphtheria toxica in adults heart complications were observed. The earliest ECG signs are sinus bradycardia, AV dissociation, AV escape rhythms, prolongation of QT interval, high U wave (U > T, T + U wave). In the cases where differential diagnosis of myocarditis and other heart diseases in adults is difficult, the attention must be focused on the sickle-like depression ("sagging") of ST-interval that is a typical sign in diphtheric myocarditis. The most severe forms of diphtheric myocarditis are complicated by AV and intraventricular conduction disturbances and malignant ventricular arrhythmias.

A rarely occuring systemic hemangioendotheliomatosis with the involvement of the skin, lymph nodes, spleen, liver, bone marrow, and lungs (intra- and extra-vascular endothelial proliferation) in a female patient of 53 years is described. Cytostatic therapy resulted in short-time improvement and was accompanied by disappearance and cicatrization of tumour nodes and marked lymphoplasmocytic reaction. The patient died with signs of cachexia, anemia and leukopenia because of concurrent complications.

On the basis of the analysis of 39 pedigrees with syndactylies it is concluded an autosomal dominant mode of the inheritance with incomplete penetrance. The variability of penetrance is more pronounced in females who are frequently healthy carriers of the gene transmitting it to both sexes. The significant prevalence of males in syndactylies can be explained by deathes of female embryos in utero, the sex ratio in healthy sibses being normal.
