RESUMO

Different causes have been described for secondary lymphedema as reported in this article. A 75-year-old man was diagnosed with lymphedema about one decade after saphenous harvesting for coronary artery bypass surgery. It took two years for him to find out his diagnosis and receive the proper treatment. After standard complete decongestive therapy, his volume and pain decreased and his quality of life was improved, especially its physical aspect. It is important to recognize the possibility of lymphedema development after saphenous harvesting among patients undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery to prevent significant disturbance of quality of life with timely management.

Key clinical massage: A 23-year-old rancher was admitted with the diagnosis of brucellosis. In evaluations, a massive vegetation in the aortic valve was seen. A combination of antibiotic therapy and cardiac surgery were performed, it seems this approach reduces mortality and complications. Abstract: Brucellosis (also known as "undulant fever," "Mediterranean fever," or "Malta fever") is a zoonotic infection transmitted to humans from infected animals (cattle, sheep, goats, camels, pigs, or other animals) by ingestion of food products (such as unpasteurized dairy products) or by contact with tissue or fluids. It is the most frequent zoonosis globally and a major public health issue in many resource-poor nations. Endocarditis is one of the rarest and most dangerous consequences of brucellosis. Additionally, the combination of endocarditis with cardiomyopathy increases its rarity. This condition is usually treated with a high level of suspicion Serological, clinical, and epidemiological data can all be used to make a diagnosis. The use of echocardiography aids in the early diagnosis. Due to the high risk of recurrence and the extent of tissue destruction brought on by Brucella, the majority of experts advise an early surgical intervention; nevertheless, other writers assert that low-risk patients also require cautious therapy. In this article, we discuss the situation of a patient who underwent surgery and had Brucella endocarditis and heart failure. In conclusion, a combination of antibiotic therapy and cardiac surgery, reduces mortality and complications associated with Brucella endocarditis and improves patient quality of life.

Non-coding RNAs have shown key roles in cancer and among them, short RNA molecules are known as microRNAs (miRNAs). These molecules have length less than 25 nucleotides and suppress translation and expression. The functional miRNAs are produced in cytoplasm. Lung cancer is a devastating disease that its mortality and morbidity have undergone an increase in recent years. Aggressive behavior leads to undesirable prognosis and tumors demonstrate abnormal proliferation and invasion. In the present review, miRNA functions in lung cancer is described. miRNAs reduce/increase proliferation and metastasis. They modulate cell death and proliferation. Overexpression of oncogenic miRNAs facilitates drug resistance and radio-resistance in lung cancer. Tumor microenvironment components including macrophages and cancer-associated fibroblasts demonstrate interactions with miRNAs in lung cancer. Other factors such as HIF-1α, lncRNAs and circRNAs modulate miRNA expression. miRNAs have also value in the diagnosis of lung cancer. Understanding such interactions can pave the way for developing novel therapeutics in near future for lung cancer patients.

Objective: To determine the causal relationship between aging and nighttime driving and the odds of injury among elderly drivers. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 5460 car accidents were investigated from 2015 to 2016. The data were extracted from the Iranian Integrated Road Traffic Injury Registry System. Pedestrian accidents, motorcycle crashes, and fatalities were excluded from the study. To account for major confounders, Bayesian-LASSO, and treatment-effect cutting-edge approaches were used. Results: Overall, 801 injuries (14.67%) were evaluated. The results of the univariable analysis indicated that aging and nighttime had adverse effects on the odds of road traffic injuries (RTIs), even after adjusting for the effect of other variables, these effects remained statistically significant. According to a newly developed approach, the overall effects of aging and nighttime were significantly and directly correlated with the odds of being injured for older adults (both p<0.001). Our findings indicated that drivers over 75 years old experienced 23% higher injury odds (OR=1.23, 95% CI:1.11 to 1.39; p<0.001), while driving at night increased the odds by 1.78 times (OR=1.78, 95% CI:1.51 to 1.83; p<0.001). Conclusion: Aging and nighttime driving are significant risk factors for RTIs among elderly drivers. This highlights the importance of implementing targeted interventions to enhance road safety for this vulnerable population. Furthermore, the use of advanced Bayesian-LASSO and treatment-effect statistical methods highlights the importance of utilizing sophisticated methodologies in epidemiological research to effectively capture and adjust for potential confounding factors.

The acceptance of AI-based intelligent transportation systems requires addressing the existing barriers and the adoption of macro-decisions and policies by policymakers and governments. This study evaluates the potential barriers to the adoption of Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) in developing countries by considering the sustainability dimensions. The barriers are identified by conducting a comprehensive literature review and studying the academic experts' opinions in related industries. By identifying the main barriers to the sustainable adoption of AVs, a synthesized approach of the Rough Best-Worst Method (RBWM) and Interval-Rough Multi-Attributive Border Approximation Area Comparison (IR-MABAC) is utilized for weighting and evaluating each barrier in this context. According to the results of this study, the "inflation rate", "lack of internet connection quality", and "learning challenges and difficulties to use the AVs" are the top challenges and barriers to the AV adoption which need to be considered by policymakers. As the main contribution of this research, we provide efficient insights on a macro policy scale for decision-makers with respect to the main barriers to the implementation of AVs technology. From the AVs literature and to the best of our knowledge, this is the first study of its kind that considers the barriers to the AV technology implementation through the sustainability concept.

Introduction: Avoiding unnecessary travel and reducing the number of essential travels are among the effective strategies for preventing the spread of COVID-19 during the pandemic. Given that it is impossible to avoid essential travel, health protocols should be observed to prevent disease transmission. The extent to which health protocols are observed during the trip should be accurately assessed by a valid questionnaire. Therefore, this study aims to develop and validate a questionnaire to assess compliance with COVID-19 prevention protocols during travel. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 285 individuals were selected from six provinces using the cluster sampling method in May and June 2021. The Content Validity Ratio (CVR) and Content Validity Index (CVI) were calculated using the comments of 12 external experts. The exploratory factor analysis (EFA), with principal component factor in the extraction method and Varimax rotation, were applied to determine construct validity. Cronbach's alpha was employed to assess internal consistency and the Spearman-Brown correlation coefficient was computed for test-retest reliability. Results: In the content validity phase, the I-CVIs for all items were acceptable, but due to a low CVR value (below 0.56), one question was eliminated. As a result of EFA for construct validity, two factors were extracted that justified 61.8% of the variance. Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the questionnaire, with 10 items, was 0.83. The Spearman-Brown correlation coefficient was 0.911 which confirmed the stability of the questionnaire at an excellent level. Conclusions: This questionnaire is a valid tool with good validity and reliability for assessing compliance with health protocols in travel during the COVID-19 pandemic.

BACKGROUND: Road traffic crashes and associated injuries and mortalities are one of the big public health challenges, especially in low/middle-income countries. Road safety lead agency (RSLA) is a vital factor in the sustainable prevention and promotes road safety. In the recent decades, various policy interventions have been conducted for road safety in Iran. This study aimed at exploring the challenges of RSLA from the perspectives of stakeholders at various levels. METHODS: A qualitative study was conducted. In-depth interviews and document reviews were used for data collection. To conduct interviews, different stakeholders at various levels such as policy-makers, senior national authorities, researchers and faculty members were selected. Data collection was conducted between November 2019 and June 2020. Thematic content analysis approach was used for data analysis. RESULTS: The experts' perspectives were analysed and then categorised under five main themes including the role and position of the lead agency, the role and duties of the actors and players, translating policy into practice, intrasectoral and intersectoral cooperation and coordination and evidence production and application and a total of 22 subthemes were identified. The current structure of the RSLA is one of the main challenges emphasised by the research participants. CONCLUSION: To achieve significant improvements in road safety at the national level, a strong management system and leadership body is a critical issue. Organisational reform to establish an effective unique lead agency is proposed to cope with RSLA challenges.

Background: Many studies have assessed the effect of music on driving. However, their results are very scattered and contradictory. Therefore, this systematic review is conducted to determine the effect of music on driving performance and drivers' physiological and psychological indicators. Methods: Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science databases were searched until July 2023. A manual search in Google Scholar for gray literature was conducted. The Simulation Research Rubric (SRR) tool was used to assess the reporting quality of the studies. Stata software (StataCorp, version 16) was used to perform a meta-analysis. Results: A total of 2650 records were identified. The findings of 19 studies were analyzed. Most of them were carried out in high-income countries (HICs) using simulators. The most frequently used music style was classic rock. The meta-analysis results indicated that music with high and medium volume increases the average driving speed, and music with low volume decreases it. Although music in every mood reduces the average reaction time, it positively reduces response delay and increases coherence. Music with high volume decreases the heart rate, but music with medium and low volume increases it. Listening to music increases the level of arousal and mental load. Conclusion: It was concluded that, in some indicators, listening to music has adverse effects on driving. However, in many indicators, music has a positive impact on improving driving safety. It is better to choose appropriate music for different driving conditions and to train the drivers about it.

INTRODUCTION: Biomaterials, either metallic, ceramic, or polymeric, can be used in medicine as a part of the implants, dialysis membranes, bone scaffolds, or components of artificial organs. Polymeric biomaterials cover a vast range of biomedical applications. The biocompatibility and immunocompatibility of polymeric materials are of fundamental importance for their possible therapeutic uses, as the immune system can intervene in the materials' performance. Therefore, based on application, different routes can be utilized for immunoregulation. AREAS COVERED: As different biomaterials can be modulated by different strategies, this study aims to summarize and evaluate the available methods for the immunocompatibility enhancement of more common polymeric biomaterials based on their nature. Different strategies such as surface modification, physical characterization, and drug incorporation are investigated for the immunomodulation of nanoparticles, hydrogels, sponges, and nanofibers. EXPERT OPINION: Recently, strategies for triggering appropriate immune responses by functional biomaterials have been highlighted. As most strategies correspond to the physical and surface properties of biomaterials, specific modulation can be conducted for each biomaterial system. Besides, different applications require different modulations of the immune system. In the future, the selection of novel materials and immune regulators can play a role in tuning the immune system for regenerative medicine.

Background: Road traffic crashes (RTCs) and its associated injuries are one of the most important public health problems in the world. In Iran, RTCs rank second in terms of mortality. To address this issue, there is a need for research-based interventions. Prioritizing researches using a variety of approaches and frameworks to determine the most effective interventions is a key nodal point in the RTCs' research policy planning cycle. Thus, this study aims to generate and prioritize research questions in the field of RTCs in Iran. Methods: By adapting the Child Health and Nutrition Research Initiative (CHNRI) method, this study engaged 25 prominent Iranian academic leaders having role in setting Iran's long-term road safety goals, a group of research funders, and policymakers. The experts' proposed research questions were independently scored on a set of criteria: feasibility, impact on health, impact on the economy, capacity building, and equity. Following the prioritization of Research Questions (RQs), they were all classified using the 5 Pillar frameworks. Results: In total, 145 Research Questions were systematically scored by experts against five criteria. Iran's top 20 road traffic safety priorities were established. The RQs related to "road safety management" and "road and infrastructure" achieved a high frequency. Conclusions: The top 20 research questions in the area of RTCs in Iran were determined by experts. The majority of these RQs were related to "road safety management". The results of this study may contribute to the optimal use of resources in achieving long-term goals in the prevention and control of road traffic crashes and its related injuries. Considering these RQs as research investment options will improve the current status of Road Traffic Injuries (RTIs) at a national level and further advance toward compliance with international goals. If these research priorities are addressed, and their findings are implemented, we can anticipate a significant reduction in the number of crashes, injuries, and deaths.

BACKGROUND: Cohort studies play essential roles in assessing causality, appropriate interventions. The study, Post-crash Prospective Epidemiological Research Studies in IrAN Traffic Safety and Health Cohort, aims to investigate the common health consequences of road traffic injuries (RTIs) postcrash through multiple follow-ups. METHODS: This protocol study was designed to analyse human, vehicle and environmental factors as exposures relating to postcrash outcomes (injury, disability, death, property damage, quality of life, etc). Population sources include registered injured people and followed up healthy people in precrash cohort experienced RTIs. It includes four first-year follow-ups, 1 month (phone-based), 3 months (in-person, video/phone call), 6 and 12 months (phone-based) after crash. Then, 24-month and 36-month follow-ups will be conducted triennially. Various questionnaires such as Post-traumatic Stress Disorder Questionnaire, Patient Health Questionnaire, WHO Disability Assessment Schedules, Cost-related Information, etc are completed. Counselling with a psychiatrist and a medical visit by a practitioner are provided accompanied by extra tools (simulator-based driving assessment, and psychophysiological tests). Through preliminary recruitment plan, 5807, 2905, 2247 and 1051 subjects have been enrolled, respectively at the baseline, first, second and third follow-ups by now. At baseline, cars and motorcycles accounted for over 30% and 25% of RTIs. At first follow-up, 27% of participants were pedestrians engaged mostly in car crashes. Around a fourth of injuries were single injuries. Car occupants were injured in 40% of collisions. DISCUSSION: The study provides an opportunity to investigate physical-psychosocial outcomes of RTIs, predictors and patterns at follow-up phases postinjury through longitudinal assessments, to provide advocates for evidence-based safety national policy-making.

Automated human action recognition is one of the most attractive and practical research fields in computer vision. In such systems, the human action labelling is based on the appearance and patterns of the motions in the video sequences; however, majority of the existing research and most of the conventional methodologies and classic neural networks either neglect or are not able to use temporal information for action recognition prediction in a video sequence. On the other hand, the computational cost of a proper and accurate human action recognition is high. In this paper, we address the challenges of the preprocessing phase, by an automated selection of representative frames from the input sequences. We extract the key features of the representative frame rather than the entire features. We propose a hierarchical technique using background subtraction and HOG, followed by application of a deep neural network and skeletal modelling method. The combination of a CNN and the LSTM recursive network is considered for feature selection and maintaining the previous information; and finally, a Softmax-KNN classifier is used for labelling the human activities. We name our model as "Hierarchical Feature Reduction & Deep Learning"-based action recognition method, or HFR-DL in short. To evaluate the proposed method, we use the UCF101 dataset for the benchmarking which is widely used among researchers in the action recognition research field. The dataset includes 101 complicated activities in the wild. Experimental results show a significant improvement in terms of accuracy and speed in comparison with eight state-of-the-art methods.

The challenge of learning a new concept, object, or a new medical disease recognition without receiving any examples beforehand is called Zero-Shot Learning (ZSL). One of the major issues in deep learning based methodologies such as in Medical Imaging and other real-world applications is the requirement of large annotated datasets prepared by clinicians or experts to train the model. ZSL is known for having minimal human intervention by relying only on previously known or trained concepts plus currently existing auxiliary information. This is ever-growing research for the cases where we have very limited or no annotated datasets available and the detection / recognition system has human-like characteristics in learning new concepts. This makes the ZSL applicable in many real-world scenarios, from unknown object detection in autonomous vehicles to medical imaging and unforeseen diseases such as COVID-19 Chest X-Ray (CXR) based diagnosis. In this review paper, we introduce a novel and broaden solution called Few / one-shot learning, and present the definition of the ZSL problem as an extreme case of the few-shot learning. We review over fundamentals and the challenging steps of Zero-Shot Learning, including state-of-the-art categories of solutions, as well as our recommended solution, motivations behind each approach, their advantages over each category to guide both clinicians and AI researchers to proceed with the best techniques and practices based on their applications. Inspired from different settings and extensions, we then review through different datasets inducing medical and non-medical images, the variety of splits, and the evaluation protocols proposed so far. Finally, we discuss the recent applications and future directions of ZSL. We aim to convey a useful intuition through this paper towards the goal of handling complex learning tasks more similar to the way humans learn. We mainly focus on two applications in the current modern yet challenging era: coping with an early and fast diagnosis of COVID-19 cases, and also encouraging the readers to develop other similar AI-based automated detection / recognition systems using ZSL.

PURPOSE: Various organizations and institutions are involved in road traffic injury (RTI) and crash registration such as police, forensic medicine organization, hospitals and emergency medical services. But there is a substantial uncertainty in interpreting the data, duplicated data collection and missing data in relation to RTI in most systems. This study aims to identify data sources for RTI surveillance in Iran and to explore traffic safety data source domains, data elements and detailed information by each data source. METHODS: This is a qualitative study which was conducted in 2017 in Iran. Data were collected employing semi-structured interviews with informants in road safety organizations in relation to traffic safety including Police, Ministry of Health and Medical Education as well as Forensic Medicine Organization and other authorities-in-charge. For completing the preliminary extraction information, the minimum data set was used and compared in each system. RESULTS: Eight different organizations relevant to road traffic safety were identified. The main domain of data provided by each one consists of Emergency Medical System form, Police KAM114 form, Ministry of Transport and Road Administration, Red Crescent Organization/Disaster Management Information System, Ministry of Health and Medical Education, Forensic Medicine Organization, Insurance Company and Ministry of Justice. Each system has its own database, based upon its scope and mainly at crash and post-crash status and little on pre-crash circumstance. CONCLUSION: All current registry systems are not surveillance systems for RTI prevention. Huge data have been collected in various registry systems in Iran, but most of the collected variables are duplicated in each system. On the other hand, some variables like alcohol and substance abuse, child seat belt, helmet use in relation to RTI prevention are missed in all systems. Accordingly, it is a critical need to integrate and establish a comprehensive surveillance system, with focus on the goal of each system and collection of minimum data in each organization, which currently is underway.

Background: It has been widely acknowledged that change and constant modification is the key to survive for any organization among their rivals. Since success in implementing changes in the organization strongly depends on the organizational culture, this study aims to assess the organizational culture in Iran University of Medical Sciences. The results of this study can be beneficial in initiating a movement towards the third - and fourth generation of universities. Methods: This study is descriptive-correlational. The Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI) was employed to collect data. A questionnaire was sent to the faculty members via email, and the responses were collected and analyzed. Results: Out of the 982 faculty members, 189 participated (20.7%) in this study. Analysis showed that the organizational culture of the university is congruent and harmonious and in the current state, it is primarily hierarchical (31%) and market-oriented (28%) with emphasis on stability and control in the organization. Whereas, faculty members tend to move the organizational culture of the university towards adhocracy (30%) and clan culture (29%). Conclusion: University administrators must strengthen the culture of innovation and creativity based on the needs of the market. This only can be achieved by supporting teamwork in their move towards desired change.

Current research suggests conflicting evidence surrounding the association between serum magnesium levels and the diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to explore, summarize and quantify the published literature addressing this topic. We conducted an exhaustive literature search on Scopus and PubMed for all the relevant observational studies published up to August 2018. A meta-analysis using a random-effects model was used to summarize the overall association between serum magnesium level and ADHD from the available data. We identified seven studies which reported the mean and standard deviation (SD) of magnesium concentration in both ADHD and control groups. The random-effects meta-analysis showed that subjects with ADHD had 0.105 mmol/l (95% CI: -0.188, -0.022; P < 0.013) lower serum magnesium levels compared with to their healthy controls. Moreover, we observed striking and statistically significant heterogeneity among the included studies (I2 = 96.2%, P = 0.0103). The evidence from this meta-analysis supports the theory that an inverse relationship between serum magnesium deficiency and ADHD exists. High heterogeneity amongst the included studies suggests that there is a residual need for observational and community-based studies to further investigate this issue.

Here, a comprehensive endeavor is made to simultaneously scrutinize spatiotemporal oscillations of three imperative morphinan alkaloids (i.e. thebaine, codeine, and morphine) alongside dynamic transcriptional patterns of TYDC, SalAT, COR, T6ODM, and CODM genes in different tissues of Papaver somniferum (i.e. root, bottom part of stem, upper part of stem, leaf, capsule wall, and capsule content) over five distinguished ontogenic stages (i.e. rosette, bud initiation, pendulous bud, flowering, and lancing). Apart from bottom stem and leaf, the maximum thebaine content occurred in lancing stage, while its minimum content did not follow a systematic rhythm, either among six tissues or five various sampling times. Regarding codeine, excepting upper stem, the highest ratios of codeine were observed at flowering and lacing stages, while negligible amounts were overall detected at early stages of plant growth like rosette. Considering morphine, apart from upper stem, it appears that late ontogeneic times including lancing and flowering are the most appropriate phases to achieve high amounts of morphine, while at early stages the aforesaid alkaloid possessed lower accumulation. Furthermore, all the five genes under study, overall, exhibited a variety of transcript levels either among six tissues or five various sampling times. Interestingly, a connection occurred between transcript ratio of SalAT and thebaine content, suggesting that thebaine biosynthesis is coordinated tightly by the enzymatic function of SalAT enzyme. Meanwhile, despite low magnitudes of T6ODM and CODM transcripts in the root-harvested samples at pendulous bud and flowering stages, both codeine and morphine were surprisingly in acceptable quantities, plausibly owing to the translocation of both alkaloids from the producing (source) tissues to the roots (sink), known as a phenomenon of 'source-to-sink transportation'. The results, altogether, could provide us enough information in acquiring new insights towards potential impacts of spatiotemporal oscillations on the magnitudes of all the above-mentioned alkaloids alongside transcription ratios of the key genes in opium poppy.

BACKGROUND: Neurodegenerative diseases are a progressive loss of structure and/or function of neurons. Weak therapeutic response and progressive nature of the diseases, as well as a wide range of side effects caused by conventional therapeutic approaches make patients seek for complementary and alternative medicine. OBJECTIVE: The aim of the present paper is to discuss the neuropharmacological basis of medicinal plants and their principle phytochemicals which have been used in traditional Persian medicine for different types of neurodegenerative diseases. RESULTS: Medicinal plants introduced in traditional Persian medicine perform beneficial effects in neurodegenerative diseases via various cellular and molecular mechanisms including suppression of apoptosis mediated by an increase in the expression of anti-apoptotic agents (e.g. Bcl-2) as well as a decrease in the expression and activity of proapoptotic proteins (e.g. Bax, caspase 3 and 9). Alleviating inflammatory responses and suppressing the expression and function of pro-inflammatory cytokines like Tumor necrosis factor α and interleukins, as well as improvement in antioxidative performance mediated by superoxide dismutase and catalase, are among other neuroprotective mechanisms of traditional medicinal plants. Modulation of transcription, transduction, intracellular signaling pathways including ERK, p38, and MAPK, with upstream regulatory activity on inflammatory cascades, apoptosis and oxidative stress associated pathways, play an essential role in the preventive and therapeutic potential of the plants in neurodegenerative diseases. CONCLUSION: Medicinal plants used in traditional Persian medicine along with their related phytochemicals by affecting various neuropharmacological pathways can be considered as future drugs or adjuvant therapies with conventional pharmacotherapeutics; though, further clinical studies are necessary for the confirmation of their safety and efficacy.

Oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction are the main suggested mechanisms for neurodegenerative diseases. In this study, we have evaluated the effects of epicatechin (EC) on mitochondrial damage induced by homocycteine (Hcy) using isolated rat hippocampus mitochondria in vivo. EC (50 mg/kg) was gavaged daily for a period of 10 days, starting 5 days prior to Hcy (0.5 µmol/µL) intra hippocampus injection in rats. Mitochondria were isolated from brain by different centrifuge techniques. Mitochondrial function was assayed by MTT test. Also, mitochondrial swelling and oxidative stress markers, such as reactive oxygen species (ROS), lipid peroxidation and glutathione (GSH), were assayed. Hcy induced mitochondrial dysfunction and swelling. Increase in ROS formation, lipid peroxidation, and decreased GSH were observed after Hcy treatment in isolated brain mitochondria. Furthermore, oral administration of EC significantly decreased the lipid peroxidation and ROS levels and also increased GSH levels. Also, EC treatment significantly improved mitochondrial function. As EC indicated protective effects against oxidative stress and mitochondrial damage induced by Hcy, it is suggested for further trials for prevention or treatments of neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer disease.

One of the most important problems in treatment of drug dependence is the cooperation of the patient's family. Many families do not look at drug dependence as a chronic and relapsing disorder and expect a quick and definite recovery of the disease. These families, including wives, are unfamiliar with the concept of harm reduction as a realistic approach. The aim of this study was to educate the spouses of patients undergoing methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) on the different aspects of harm reduction approach and assess the impact of this training on marital satisfaction and relapse rate. This study was a pretest-posttest study with control group. The sample consisted of 50 MMT patients and their wives in private methadone maintenance treatment clinics in the city of Bojnurd, located in the northeastern region of Iran. The experimental group received eight group training sessions run by a psychiatrist. The content of the training sessions was based on harm reduction programs for families of patients with high-risk behaviors. Two groups are compared in terms of marital satisfaction and relapse rate. A paired t test was used to compare changes before and after the training. The results of this study showed that harm reduction education and efforts for changing wives' views toward MMT are effective in increasing their marital satisfaction. However, the conducted training showed no effect on relapse rate in the six-month follow-up. Regarding the fact that this type of training has not been paid enough attention in the national protocol, the proposed training program of this research can be considered in MMT clinics.
