[Organization of treatment and diagnosis of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome in Udmurtiia]. / Organizatsiia lechebno-diagnosticheskoi pomoshchi pri GLPS v Udmurtii.

The paper presents basic parameters that characterize the status of prevention, treatment, diagnosis, and rehabilitation in hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS). The data from the epidemiological surveillance in the republic indicate the poor epidemic situation: with decreased immunization there are rises in morbidity and viral infection from the main source bank voles. The paper suggests possible ways of improving preventive measures. The mechanism of improvement of health care to patients with HFRS is clinically considered. At the same it is recommended that comparative indices in specialized infection hospitals and in the infection units of central district hospitals should be taken into account while analyzing the medical and diagnostic aid to HFRS patients. Comparison of the above criteria for assessing the quality of diagnosis and treatment in different infection units revealed great differences. This paper presents some experience in organizing preventive, therapeutical, and diagnostic work in case of an Udmurtian active natural focus of HFRS.

[Paradigm of radiation-laser medical equipment and technology]. / Paradigma radiatsionno-lazernoi meditsinskoi tekhniki i tekhnologii.

Based on quantum chemistry and chemical kinetics, the paper formulates basically new concepts of the possibility of controlling biochemical reactions in biological tissues by simultaneously making abnormal human visceral foci, in cancer diseases in particular, exposed to two rays via radiation and optic laser radiations. The paper also presents experimental findings of the channeling of X-ray and fluxes of charged particles along the fiber wave guides. It considers the circuit engineering of a medical endoscopic device that concurrently transmits optic laser radiation and fluxes of penetrating radiation into the viscera.

[The functional activity of neutrophilic granulocytes in hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome]. / Funktsional'naia aktivnost' neitrofil'nykh granulotsitov pri gemorragicheskoi likhoradke s pochechnym sindromom.

In blood samples taken from 33 patients having hemorrhagic fever with the renal syndrome (HFRS) the capacity of neutrophil granulocytes for the ingestion of bacteria and for the reduction of tetrazolium nitro blue, as well as the content of cation protein in the cytoplasm of neutrophils and the concentration of lysozyme in the blood serum of patients, were studied. The study revealed an increase in the values of the above characteristics in comparison with similar data obtained in healthy subjects. Changes in the characteristics of the functional activity of neutrophils were found to depend on the period of the clinical course of HFRS.

[Determination of free and bound forms of sialic acids in biologic objects]. / Opredelenie svobodnoi i sviazannykh form sialovykh kislot v biologicheskikh ob"ektakh.

A method for simultaneous measurements of free, oligomer-bound and protein-bound sialic acids in the blood serum, saliva, and tissue homogenates is offered. The results of these parameters measurements after stressogenic exposures and in some diseases are presented.

[Use of YAG-neodymium and CO2 lasers for creating small-intestinal anastomoses]. / Ispol'zovanie AIG-neodimovogo i CO2-lazerov dlia formirovaniia tonkokishechnykh anastomozov.

A method for creating laser enteric anastomoses was developed in experiments with YAG-neodymium and CO2 lasers. The properties of such anastomoses were studied in detail in the early stages after the operation. The use of serial Soviet-produced laser devices and standard surgical instruments in the experiments makes it possible to introduce the results of the work into clinical practice in the near future.

[Laser seromyotomy of the stomach in duodenal ulcers]. / Lazernaia seromiotomiia zheludka pri iazve dvenadtsatiperstnoi kishki.

The use of laser surgical equipment permits to simplify considerably a method of gastric seromyotomy. On the basis of the results of treating 38 patients, the optimal parameters of laser energy, used in dissection of the gastric wall, are recommended, the advantages and shortcomings of the different sources of radiation are studied.

[Comparative evaluation of the results of traditional and laser papillosphincterotomy]. / Sravnitel'naia otsenka rezul'tatov traditsionnoi i lazernoi papillosfinkterotomii.

The techniques of papillosphincterotomy were improved on the basis of CO2 laser and special laser tools. The results of 212 routine and 114 laser papillosphincterotomies were appraised. With the laser techniques, the incidence of postoperative complications reduced to 14% as compared to 23.6% with the routine method. The incidence of postoperative pancreatitis decreased from 7.5% to 4.3%, the destructive pancreatitis mortality, from 4.7% to 0.9%. The long-term results provide evidence for laser papillosphincterotomy.

[A method of laser seromyotomy of the stomach]. / Tekhnika lazernoi seromiotomii zheludka.

A technique of laser seromyotomy was developed as a method for vagus denervation for the treatment of gastroduodenal ulcers. Soviet Raduga neodymium YAG laser and foreign Medilaz and Flexilas units were employed as sources of laser irradiation. The operation was performed in the 'contact scalpel' mode with the use of Soviet sapphire tips. The developed technique permits seromyotomy that results in better hemostasis and lower risk of gastric submucosal layer involvement vs. electronomo suggested earlier by Taylor, an English surgeon. Twelve patients were operated on; one developed intraperitoneal hemorrhage that ceased independently.

[Purulent complications of destructive pancreatitis]. / Gnoinye oslozheniia destruktivnogo pankreatita.

Pancreanecrosis was diagnozed in 492 of 2340 patients with acute pancreatitis. Suppurative complications were observed in 83 patients. In order to reduce the frequency of suppurative complications and mortality rate of acute suppurative pancreatitis the authors recommend an early beginning of complex infusive therapy.
