RESUMO

A mathematical correlation between biomass kinetic and membrane fouling can improve the understanding and spread of Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) technology, especially in solving the membrane fouling issues. On this behalf, this paper, produced by the International Water Association (IWA) Task Group on Membrane modelling and control, reviews the current state-of-the-art regarding the modelling of kinetic processes of biomass, focusing on modelling production and utilization of soluble microbial products (SMP) and extracellular polymeric substances (EPS). The key findings of this work show that the new conceptual approaches focus on the role of different bacterial groups in the formation and degradation of SMP/EPS. Even though several studies have been published regarding SMP modelling, there still needs to be more information due to the highly complicated SMP nature to facilitate the accurate modelling of membrane fouling. The EPS group has seldom been addressed in the literature, probably due to the knowledge deficiency concerning the triggers for production and degradation pathways in MBR systems, which require further efforts. Finally, the successful model applications showed that proper estimation of SMP and EPS by modelling approaches could optimise membrane fouling, which can influence the MBR energy consumption, operating costs, and greenhouse gas emissions.

In the present work, two mathematical diffusion models have been used to estimate the growth of the iron monoboride and diiron boride coating formed on AISI 420 steel. The boronizing of the steel was carried out with the solid diffusion packing method at a boronizing temperature of 1123 K-1273 K. Experimental results show the two-coating system consists of an outer monoboride and an inner diiron boride coating with a predominantly planar structure at the propagation front. The depth of the boride coating increases according to temperature and treatment time. A parabolic curve characterizes the propagation of the boride coatings. The two proposed mathematical models of mass transfer diffusion are founded on the solution corresponding to Fick's second fundamental law. The first is based on a linear boron concentration-penetration profile without time dependence, and the second model with time dependence (exact solution). For both models, the theoretical law of parabolic propagation and the average flux of boron atoms (Fick's first fundamental law) at the growth interfaces (monoboride/diiron boride and diiron boride/substrate) are considered to estimate the propagation of the boride coatings (monoboride and diiron boride). To validate the mathematical models, a programming code is written in the MATLAB program (adaptation 7.5) designed to simulate the growth of the boride coatings (monoboride and diiron boride). The following parameters are used as input data for this computer code: (the layer thicknesses of the FeB and Fe2B phases, the operating temperature, the boronizing time, initial formation time of the boride coating, the surface boron concentration limits, FeB/Fe2B and Fe2B/Fe growth interfaces, and the mass transfer diffusion coefficient of boron in the iron monoboride and diiron boride phases). The outputs of the computer code are the constants εFeB and εFe2B. The assessment of activation energies of AISI 420 steel for the two mathematical models of mass transfer is coincident (QFeB=221.9 kJ∙mol-1 and QFe2B=209.1 kJ∙mol-1). A numerical analysis was performed using a standard Taylor series for clarification of the proximity between the two models. SEM micrographs exhibited a strong propensity toward a flat-fronted composition at expansion interfaces of the iron monoboride and diiron boride coating, confirmed by XRD analysis. Tribological characterizations included the Vickers hardness test method, pin-on-disc, and Daimler-Benz Rockwell-C indentation adhesion tests. After thorough analysis, the energies were compared to the existing literature to validate our experiment. We found that our models and experimental results agreed. The diffusion models we utilized were crucial in gaining a deeper understanding of the boronizing behavior of AISI 420 steel, and they also allowed us to predict the thicknesses of the iron monoboride and diiron boride coating. These models provide helpful approaches for predicting the behavior of these steels.

A mechanistic model describing the key interactions occurring in microalgae-bacteria consortia systems was developed and validated. The proposed model includes the most relevant features of microalgae, such as light dependence, endogenous respiration, growth, and nutrient consumption for different nutrient sources. The model is coupled to the plant-wide model BNRM2, including heterotrophic and nitrifying bacteria, and chemical precipitation processes, among others. A major novelty of the model is microalgae growth inhibition by nitrite. Validation was conducted using experimental data from a pilot-scale membrane photobioreactor (MPBR) fed with permeate from an anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR). Three experimental periods dealing with different interactions between nitrifying bacteria and microalgae were validated. The model was able to accurately represent the dynamics occurring in the MPBR, predicting the relative abundance of microalgae and bacteria over time. Specifically, >500 pairs of experimental and modeled data were evaluated, giving an average R2 coefficient of 0.9902. The validated model was also used to evaluate different offline control strategies for enhancing process performance. For example, partial-nitrification resulting in NO2-N accumulation (i.e., microalgae growth inhibition) could be avoided by increasing biomass retention time from 2.0 to 4.5 days. It has been also concluded that microalgae biomass growth rate could be also enhanced by punctually increasing the dilution rate, allowing to outcompete nitrifying bacteria.

This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of applying a commercial porous membrane to direct filtration of municipal wastewater. The effects of membrane pore size (MF and UF), treated influent (raw wastewater and the primary settler effluent of a municipal wastewater treatment plant) and operating solids concentration (about 1 and 2.6 g L-1) were evaluated on a demonstration plant. Filtration periods of 2-8 h were achieved when using the MF membrane, while these increased to 34-69 days with the UF membrane. This wide difference was due to severe fouling when operating the MF membrane, which was dramatically reduced by the UF membrane. Use of raw wastewater and higher solids concentration showed a significant benefit in the filtration performance when using the UF module. The physical fouling control strategies tested (air sparging and backwashing) proved to be ineffective in controlling UF membrane fouling, although these strategies had a significant impact on MF membrane fouling, extending the operating period from some hours to 5-6 days. The fouling evaluation showed that a cake layer seemed to be the predominant reversible fouling mechanism during each independent filtration cycle. However, as continuous filtration advanced, a large accumulation of irreversible fouling appeared, which could have been related to intermediate/complete pore blocking in the case of the MF membrane, while it could have been produced by standard pore blocking in the case of the UF membrane. Organic matter represented more than 70% of this irreversible fouling in all the experimental conditions evaluated.

OBJECTIVES: To characterise the key epidemiological, clinical, immunological, imaging, and pathological features of the coexistence between sarcoidosis and Sjögren's syndrome (SS). METHODS: All centres included in two large multicentre registries (the Sjögren Syndrome Big Data Consortium and the Sarco-GEAS-SEMI Registry) were contacted searching for potential cases of coexistence between SS and sarcoidosis seen in daily practice. Inclusion criteria were the fulfilment of the current classification criteria both for SS (2016 ACR/EULAR) and sarcoidosis (WASOG). The following features were considered for evaluating a coexisting immunopathological scenario between the two diseases: non-caseating granulomas (NCG), focal lymphocytic sialadenitis (FLS) and positive anti-Ro antibodies. RESULTS: We identified 43 patients who fulfilled the inclusion criteria (38 women, with a mean age of 53 years at diagnosis of SS and of 52 years at diagnosis of sarcoidosis). In 28 (65%) cases, sarcoidosis was diagnosed concomitantly with SS, or during the follow-up of patients with an already diagnosed SS, while in the remaining 15 (35%), SS was diagnosed during the follow-up of an already diagnosed sarcoidosis. Patients in whom sarcoidosis was diagnosed first showed a lower mean age (43.88 vs. 55.67 years, p=0.005) and were less frequently women (73% vs. 96%, p=0.04) in comparison with those in whom sarcoidosis was diagnosed concomitantly with SS, or during the follow-up of an already diagnosed SS. We identified the following immunopathological scenarios: a combination of NCG involving extrasalivary tissues and anti-Ro antibodies in 55% of patients, a coexistence of both pathological scenarios (extrasalivary NCG and FLS in MSGB) in 42% (with positive anti-Ro antibodies in two thirds of cases), and NCG involving salivary glands and anti-Ro antibodies in 3% of cases. CONCLUSIONS: We have characterised the largest reported series of patients who fulfilled the current classification criteria for both SS and sarcoidosis. This implies that sarcoidosis (and not just the presence of isolated NCG on salivary gland biopsy) may, like other systemic autoimmune diseases, coexist with SS, and that a sarcoidosis diagnosis does not preclude the development of SS in the future.

The aim of this study was to assess the feasibility of using dynamic membranes for direct filtration of municipal wastewater. The influence of different alternative supporting materials (one or two layers of flat open monofilament woven polyamide meshes with 1 or 5 µm of pore size) was studied. A stable short-term self-forming DM was achieved (from some hours to 3 days) regardless of the supporting material used, producing relatively similar permeate qualities (total suspended solids, chemical oxygen demand, total nitrogen, total phosphorous and turbidity of 67-88 mg L-1, 155-186 mg L-1, 48.7-50.4 mg L-1, 4.7-4.9 mg L-1, and 167-174 NTU, respectively). A DM permeability loss rate of from 5.21 to 10.03 LMH bar-1 day-1 was obtained, which depended on the supporting material used. Unfortunately, the preliminary energy, carbon footprint, and economic evaluations performed showed that although DMs obtain higher pollutant captures than conventional treatments (primary settler), the benefits are not enough to justify their use for treating average municipal wastewater. However, this alternative scheme could be suitable for treating higher-loaded MWW with a higher fraction of organic matter in the non-settleable solids.

A semi-industrial scale AnMBR plant was operated for more than 600 days to evaluate the long-term operation of this technology at ambient temperature (ranging from 10 to 27 ○C), variable hydraulic retention times (HRT) (from 25 to 41 h) and influent loads (mostly between 15 and 45 kg COD·d-1). The plant was fed with sulfate-rich high-loaded municipal wastewater from the pre-treatment of a full-scale WWTP. The results showed promising AnMBR performance as the core technology for wastewater treatment, obtaining an average 87.2 ± 6.1 % COD removal during long-term operation, with 40 % of the data over 90%. Five periods were considered to evaluate the effect of HRT, influent characteristics, COD/SO42--S ratio and temperature on the biological process. In the selected periods, methane yields varied from 70.2±36.0 to 169.0±95.1 STP L CH4·kg-1 CODinf, depending on the influent sulfate concentration, and wasting sludge production was reduced by between 8 % and 42 % compared to conventional activated sludge systems. The effluent exhibited a significant nutrient recovery potential. Temperature, HRT, SRT and influent COD/SO42--S ratio were corroborated as crucial parameters to consider in maximizing AnMBR performance.

This paper studied the feasibility of using dynamic membranes (DMs) to treat municipal wastewater (MWW). Effluent from the primary settler of a full-scale wastewater treatment plant was treated using a flat 1 µm pore size open monofilament polyamide woven mesh as supporting material. Two supporting material layers were required to self-form a DM in the short-term (17 days of operation). Different strategies (increasing the filtration flux, increasing the concentration of operating solids and coagulant dosing) were used to enhance the required forming time and pollutant capture efficiency. Higher permeate flux and increased solids were shown to be ineffective while coagulant dosing showed improvements in both the required DM forming time and permeate quality. When coagulant was dosed (10 mg L-1) a DM forming time of 7 days and a permeate quality of total suspended solids, chemical oxygen demand, total nitrogen, total phosphorous and turbidity of 24 mg L-1, 58 mg L-1, 38.1 mg L-1, 1.2 mg L-1 and 22 NTU, respectively, was achieved. Preliminary energy and economic balances determined that energy recoveries from 0.032 to 0.121 kWh per m3 of treated water at a cost between €0.002 to €0.003 per m3 of treated water can be obtained from the particulate material recovered in the DM.

The results of a global sensitivity and uncertainty analysis of a microalgae model applied to a Membrane Photobioreactor (MPBR) pilot plant were assessed. The main goals of this study were: (I) to identify the sensitivity factors of the model through the Morris screening method, i.e. the most influential factors; (II) to calibrate the influential factors online or offline; and (III) to assess the model's uncertainty. Four experimental periods were evaluated, which encompassed a wide range of environmental and operational conditions. Eleven influential factors (e.g. maximum specific growth rate, light intensity and maximum temperature) were identified in the model from a set of 34 kinetic parameters (input factors). These influential factors were preferably calibrated offline and alternatively online. Offline/online calibration provided a unique set of model factor values that were used to match the model results with experimental data for the four experimental periods. A dynamic optimization of these influential factors was conducted, resulting in an enhanced set of values for each period. Model uncertainty was assessed using the uncertainty bands and three uncertainty indices: p-factor, r-factor and ARIL. Uncertainty was dependent on both the number of influential factors identified in each period and the model output analyzed (i.e. biomass, ammonium and phosphate concentration). The uncertainty results revealed a need to apply offline calibration methods to improve model performance.

Total nitrite (TNO2 = HNO2 + NO-2) accumulation due to the activity of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) was monitored in microalgae-bacteria consortia, and the inhibitory effect of nitrite/free nitrous acid (NO2-N/FNA) on microalgae photosynthesis and inhibition mechanism was studied. A culture of Scenedesmus was used to run two sets of batch reactors at different pH and TNO2 concentrations to evaluate the toxic potential of NO2-N and FNA. Photo-respirometric tests showed that NO2-N accumulation has a negative impact on net oxygen production rate (OPRNET). Chlorophyll a fluorescence analysis was used to examine the biochemical effects of NO2-N stress and the mechanism of NO2-N inhibition. The electron transport rate (ETR), non-photochemical quenching (NPQ), and JIP-test revealed that the electron transport chain between Photosystems II and I (PS II and PS I) was hindered at NO2-N concentrations above 25 g N m-3. Electron acceptor QA was not able to reoxidize and could not transfer electrons to the next electron acceptor, QB, accumulating P680+ (excited PS II reaction center) and limiting oxygen production. A semi-continuous reactor containing a Scenedesmus culture was monitored by photo-respirometry tests and Chlorophyll a fluorescence to calibrate NO2-N inhibition (5-35 g N m-3). Non-competitive inhibition and Hill-type models were compared to select the best-fitting inhibition equations. Inhibition was correctly modeled by the Hill-type model and a half inhibition constant (KI) for OPRNET, NPQ, maximum photosynthetic rate (ETRMAX) and the performance index PIABS was 23.7 ± 1.2, 26.36 ± 1.10, 39 ± 2 and 26.5 ± 0.4, respectively.

Current mechanistic anaerobic digestion (AD) models cannot accurately represent the underlying processes occurring during food waste (FW) AD. This work presents an update of the Anaerobic Digestion Model no. 1 (ADM1) to provide accurate estimations of free ammonia concentrations and related inhibition thresholds, and model syntrophic acetate oxidation as acetate-consuming pathway. A modified Davies equation predicted NH3 concentrations and pH more accurately, and better estimated associated inhibitory limits. Sensitivity analysis results showed the importance of accurate disintegration kinetics and volumetric mass transfer coefficients, as well as volatile fatty acids (VFAs) and hydrogen uptake rates. In contrast to the default ADM1, the modified ADM1 could represent methane production and VFA profiles simultaneously (particularly relevant for propionate uptake). The modified ADM1 was also able to predict the predominant acetate-consuming and methane-producing microbial clades. Modelling results using data from reactors dosed with granular activated carbon showed that this additive improves hydrogen uptake.

A kinetic model of autotrophic microalgal growth in sewage was developed to determine the biokinetic processes involved, including carbon-, nitrogen- and phosphorus-limited microalgal growth, dependence on light intensity, temperature and pH, light attenuation and gas exchange to the atmosphere. A new feature was the differentiation between two metabolic pathways of phosphorus consumption according to the availability of extracellular phosphorus. Two scenarios were differentiated: phosphorus-replete and -deplete culture conditions. In the former, the microalgae absorbed phosphorus to grow and store polyphosphate. In the latter the microalgae used the stored polyphosphate as a phosphorus source for growth. Calibration and validation were performed with experimental data from a pilot-scale membrane photobioreactor (MPBR) fed with the permeate obtained from an anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) pilot plant fed with real urban wastewater. 12 of the model parameters were calibrated. Despite the dynamics involved in the operating and environmental conditions, the model was able to reproduce the overall process performance with a single set of model parameters values. Four periods of different environmental and operational conditions were accurately simulated. Regarding the former, light and temperature ranged 10-406 µmol·m-2·s-1 and 19.7-32.1 °C, respectively. Concerning the later, the photobioreactors widths were 0.25 and 0.10 m, and the biomass and hydraulic retention times ranged 3-4.5 and 1.5-2.5 days, respectively. The validation of the model resulted in an overall correlation coefficient (R2) of 0.9954. The simulation results showed the potential of the model to predict the dynamics of the different components: the relative proportions of microalgae, nitrogen and phosphorus removal, polyphosphate storage and consumption, and soluble organic matter concentration, as well as the influence of environmental parameters on the microalgae's biokinetic processes. The proposed model could provide an effective tool for the industry to predict microalgae production and comply with the discharge limits in areas declared sensitive to eutrophication.

To analyze the frequency and clinical phenotype of neurosarcoidosis (NS) in one of the largest nationwide cohorts of patients with sarcoidosis reported from southern Europe. NS was evaluated according to the Diagnostic Criteria for Central Nervous System and Peripheral Nervous System Sarcoidosis recently proposed by Stern et al. Pathologic confirmation of granulomatous disease was used to subclassify NS into definite (confirmation in neurological tissue), probable (confirmation in extraneurological tissue) and possible (no histopathological confirmation of the disease). Of the 1532 patients included in the cohort, 85 (5.5%) fulfilled the Stern criteria for NS (49 women, mean age at diagnosis of NS of 47.6 years, 91% White). These patients developed 103 neurological conditions involving the brain (38%), cranial nerves (36%), the meninges (3%), the spinal cord (10%) and the peripheral nerves (14%); no patient had concomitant central and peripheral nerve involvements. In 59 (69%) patients, neurological involvement preceded or was present at the time of diagnosis of the disease. According to the classification proposed by Stern et al., 11 (13%) were classified as a definite NS, 61 (72%) as a probable NS and the remaining 13 (15%) as a possible NS. In comparison with the systemic phenotype of patients without NS, patients with CNS involvement presented a lower frequency of thoracic involvement (82% vs 93%, q = 0.018), a higher frequency of ocular (27% vs 10%, q < 0.001) and salivary gland (15% vs 4%, q = 0.002) WASOG involvements. In contrast, patients with PNS involvement showed a higher frequency of liver involvement (36% vs 12%, p = 0.02) in comparison with patients without NS. Neurosarcoidosis was identified in 5.5% of patients. CNS involvement prevails significantly over PNS involvement, and both conditions do not overlap in any patient. The systemic phenotype associated to each involvement was clearly differentiated, and can be helpful not only in the early identification of neurological involvement, but also in the systemic evaluation of patients diagnosed with neurosarcoidosis.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze whether immune-mediated diseases (IMDs) occurs in sarcoidosis more commonly than expected in the general population, and how concomitant IMDs influence the clinical presentation of the disease. METHODS: We searched for coexisting IMDs in patients included in the SARCOGEAS-cohort, a multicenter nationwide database of consecutive patients diagnosed according to the ATS/ESC/WASOG criteria. Comparisons were made considering the presence or absence of IMD clustering, and odds ratios (OR) and their 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated as the ratio of observed cases of every IMD in the sarcoidosis cohort to the observed cases in the general population. RESULTS: Among 1737 patients with sarcoidosis, 283 (16%) patients presented at least one associated IMD. These patients were more commonly female (OR: 1.98, 95% CI: 1.49-2.62) and were diagnosed with sarcoidosis at an older age (49.6 vs. 47.5years, P<0.05). The frequency of IMDs in patients with sarcoidosis was nearly 2-fold higher than the frequency observed in the general population (OR: 1.64, 95% CI: 1.44-1.86). Significant associations were identified in 17 individual IMDs. In comparison with the general population, the IMDs with the strongest strength of association with sarcoidosis (OR>5) were common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) (OR: 431.8), familial Mediterranean fever (OR 33.9), primary biliary cholangitis (OR: 16.57), haemolytic anemia (OR: 12.17), autoimmune hepatitis (OR: 9.01), antiphospholipid syndrome (OR: 8.70), immune thrombocytopenia (OR: 8.43), Sjögren syndrome (OR: 6.98), systemic sclerosis (OR: 5.71), ankylosing spondylitis (OR: 5.49), IgA deficiency (OR: 5.07) and psoriatic arthritis (OR: 5.06). Sex-adjusted ORs were considerably higher than crude ORs for eosinophilic digestive disease in women, and for immune thrombocytopenia, systemic sclerosis and autoimmune hepatitis in men. CONCLUSION: We found coexisting IMDs in 1 out of 6 patients with sarcoidosis. The strongest associations were found for immunodeficiencies and some systemic, rheumatic, hepatic and hematological autoimmune diseases.

Objetivo: Las Sociedades Españolas de Ginecología y Obstetricia, de Medicina Interna y de Reumatología han constituido un grupo de trabajo paritario para la elaboración de tres documentos de consenso sobre el control del embarazo en mujeres con lupus eritematoso sistémico y síndrome antifosfolípido. Métodos: Cada una de las sociedades científicas implicadas propuso cinco representantes en base a su experiencia en el área del control del embarazo en pacientes con enfermedades autoinmunes. Las recomendaciones se elaboraron siguiendo la metodología Delphi.Resultados: En este tercer documento se incluyen las recomendaciones que abordan el manejo del parto, puerperio y lactancia, incluyendo el manejo de los diferentes fármacos en estos periodos. Además se incluye una sección sobre los cuidados iniciales del recién nacido y sobre anticoncepción. Conclusiones: Estas recomendaciones multidisciplinares se consideran herramientas en la toma de decisiones para los clínicos involucrados en la asistencia a pacientes con lupus eritematoso sistémico/síndrome antifosfolípido durante el embarazo.(AU)

AnMBR technology is a promising alternative to achieve future energy-efficiency and environmental-friendly urban wastewater (UWW) treatment. However, the large amount of dissolved methane lost in the effluent represents a potential high environmental impact that hinder the feasibility of this technology for full-scale applications. The use of degassing membranes (DM) to capture the dissolved methane from AnMBR effluents can be considered as an interesting alternative to solve this problem although further research is required to assess the suitability of this emerging technology. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of operating temperature and hydrodynamics on the capture of dissolved methane from AnMBR effluents by DMs. To this aim, a commercial polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) DM was coupled to an industrial prototype AnMBR (demonstration scale) treating UWW at ambient temperature. Different operating temperatures have been evaluated: 11, 18, 24 and 30 °C. Moreover, the DM was operated at different ratios of liquid flow rate to membrane area (QL:A) ranging from 22 to 190 Lh-1m-2 in order to study the resistance of the system to methane permeation. Methane recovery was maximized when temperature raised and QL:A was reduced, giving methane recovery efficiencies (MRE) of about 85% at a temperature of 30 °C and a QL:A of 25 Lh-1m-2. The study showed that high QL:A ratios hinder methane recovery by the perturbation of the DM fibers, being this effect intensified at lower temperatures probably due the higher liquid viscosities. Also, the performed fouling evaluation showed that not significant membrane fouling may be expected in the DM unit at the short-term when treating AnMBR effluents. A resistance-in-series model was proposed to predict the overall mass transfer of the system according to operating temperature and QL:A, showing that methane capture was controlled by the liquid phase, which represented up to 80-90% of total mass transfer resistance. The energy and environmental evaluation performed in this study revealed that PDMS DMs would enhance energy recovery and environmental feasibility of AnMBR technology for UWW treatment, especially when operating at low temperatures. When MRE was maximized, the combination of AnMBR with DM achieved net energy productions and net greenhouse gas reductions of up to 0.87 kWh and 0.216 kg CO2-eq per m3 of treated water.

RESUMO

Integrated Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) models, combination of biological and physical models, have been representing powerful tools for the accomplishment of high environmental sustainability. This paper, produced by the International Water Association (IWA) Task Group on Membrane Modelling and Control, reviews the state-of-the-art, identifying gaps for future researches, and proposes a new integrated MBR modelling framework. In particular, the framework aims to guide researchers and managers in pursuing good performances of MBRs in terms of effluent quality, operating costs (such as membrane fouling, energy consumption due to aeration) and mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions.

OBJECTIVE: In order to agree on the fundamental aspects related to the management of pregnancy in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), the Spanish Societies of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Internal Medicine and Rheumatology set up a working group for the preparation of three consensus documents. METHODS: Each of the Scientific Societies involved proposed five representatives based on their experience in the field of pregnancy control in patients with autoimmune diseases. The recommendations were developed following the Delphi methodology. RESULTS: This second document contains the recommendations regarding the management of pregnancy in women with SLE and APS, including complications such as lupus activity, congenital heart block, thrombotic and obstetric manifestations of APS and placental vascular disease. CONCLUSIONS: These multidisciplinary recommendations are considered decision-making tools for clinicians involved in the care of patients with SLE/APS during pregnancy.
