RESUMO

BACKGROUND: A giant juvenile fibroadenoma (GJF) is a rare, benign breast tumor that affects females < 18 years of age. GJFs are generally suspected based on a palpable mass. GJFs influence breast shape and mammary gland development via the pressure effect from their enormous size. CASE SUMMARY: Herein we report a case involving a 14-year-old Chinese female with a GJF in the left breast. GJF is a rare, benign breast tumor that usually occurs between 9 and 18 years of age and accounts for 0.5%-4.0% of all fibroadenomas. In severe cases, breast deformation may occur. This disease is rarely reported in Chinese people and has a high clinical misdiagnosis rate due to the absence of specific imaging features. On July 25, 2022, a patient with a GJF was admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Dali University. The preoperative clinical examination and conventional ultrasound diagnosis needed further clarification. The mass was shown to be an atypical lobulated mass during the operation and confirmed to be a GJF based on pathologic examination. CONCLUSION: GJF is also a rare, benign breast tumor in Chinese women. Evaluation of such masses consists of a physical examination, radiography, ultrasonography, computer tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. GJFs are confirmed by histopathologic examination. Mastectomy is not selected when the patient benefits from a complete resection of the mass with breast reconstruction and an uneventful recovery.

RESUMO

The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of Rice straw and King grass on apparent digestibility, ruminal bacterial, and fungus composition in buffaloes. Three ruminal fistulated buffaloes were used in a 3 × 2 Latin square design. The dietary treatments were king grass and straw hay. Experimental animals were kept in individual pens and concentrate was offered at 1 kg/d while roughage was fed ad libitum. Each period lasted for 15d, with the first 12d for an adaptation period, followed by a 3-day formal trial period. King grass has higher digestibility of protein. Rice straw has higher digestibility to cellulose. The results showed that when buffaloes were fed king grass and straw, Bacteroidetes were dominant in the rumen normal flora, but firmicutes were not. In addition, the results of this experiment suggest that increasing protein content in diets may be beneficial to increase the relative abundance of Proteobacteria. Similarly, higher dietary fiber content may be beneficial for increasing relative abundance of Prevotella and Staphylococcus. The dominant fungi in ruminal fluid 2 h after ingestion were aerobic fungi. These aerobic fungi most likely entered the rumen with food. Whether and how long aerobic fungi can survive in the rumen needs more research.

RESUMO

Widely known as an excellent electron transporting material (ETM), pristine fullerene C60 plays a critical role in improving the photovoltaic performance of inverted structure perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, the imperfect perovskite/C60 interface significantly limits the promotion of device performance and stability due to the weak coordination interactions between bare carbon cages and perovskite. Here, we designed and synthesized three functionalized fulleropyrrolidine ETMs (abbreviated as CEP, CEPE, and CECB), each of which was modified with the same primary terminal (cyanoethyl) and various secondary terminals (phenyl, phenethyl, and chlorobutyl). The resulting CECB-based PSC has a power conversion efficiency (PCE) over 19% and exceptional photo-stability over 1800 h. This work provides significant insight into the targeted terminal design of novel fullerene ETMs for efficient and stable PSCs.

RESUMO

BackgroundThe potential roles of affective responses to environmental stressors in individuals physical and mental health are complex and multi-faceted. This study, then, explores Chinese citizens emotional responses to COVID-19-related stressors and influence factors which may boost or buffer such effects. MethodsFrom late March to early June (2020), a cross-sectional study was conducted using an anonymous online questionnaire included demographic characteristics, COVID-19-related stressors related to individuals daily functioning, and the self-assessed impact of protective and adverse internal factors on emotions. Results1,662 questionnaires were received from residents in 32 Chinese provinces classified by prevalence level according to COVID-19 infections. Among the 17 positive and negative emotional responses, agglomerative hierarchical clustering revealed four subclassifications: (1) stress relations; (2) missing someone relations; (3) individual relations; and (4) social relations. Additionally, heightened regional prevalence levels positively corresponded to intensity of stress relations. Lowest intensity of social relations was found in the areas surrounding Wuhan and coastal areas. Specially, economic- and work-related stressors as well as negative self-perceptions (e.g., suppression, emotionally unstable, self-denial) implicated in negative emotions. While positive emotions were tied to demographic characteristics (e.g., high education, young age and male) and protective traits (e.g., creativity, sympathy, social responsibility), and inversely linked to relationships- and pandemic-related stressors, etc. ConclusionAssociations were clearly noted among Chinese residents emotions to specific stressors during pandemic. Providing appropriate psychological resources/supports during future or extended public health crises may help offset the cognitive burden of individuals striving to regain an adequate level of normalcy and emotional well-being.

RESUMO

The mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Saussurella borneensis (Orthoptera: Tetrigoidea) was determined and analyzed. The complete mitochondrial genome is 16,006 bp in length, consisting of 37 genes, including 13 protein-coding (PCGs), 22 tRNA, 2 rRNA genes as well as an A + T-rich region. Ten PCGs initiated with a typical ATN codon (one with ATC, two with ATA, two with ATT, and five with ATG) and 13 terminated with complete stop codons. The overall nucleotide composition was 42.97% for A, 17.61% for C, 11.62% for G, and 27.8% for T. Phylogenetic analysis of S. borneensis fully resolved it in a basal branch sister to Tripetaloceroides tonkinensis. This data increase the bioinformatics of the Tetrigidae, and improves our understanding of the phylogenetic status of S. borneensis in the Tetrigoidea.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES@#To study the effect of glucose metabolism disorders on the short-term prognosis in neonates with asphyxia.@*METHODS@#A retrospective analysis was performed on the medical data of the neonates with asphyxia who were admitted to 52 hospitals in Hubei Province of China from January to December, 2018 and had blood glucose data within 12 hours after birth. Their blood glucose data at 1, 2, 6, and 12 hours after birth (with an allowable time error of 0.5 hour) were recorded. According to the presence or absence of brain injury and/or death during hospitalization, the neonates were divided into a poor prognosis group with 693 neonates and a good prognosis group with 779 neonates. The two groups were compared in the incidence of glucose metabolism disorders within 12 hours after birth and short-term prognosis.@*RESULTS@#Compared with the good prognosis group, the poor prognosis group had a significantly higher proportion of neonates from secondary hospitals (48.5% vs 42.6%, @*CONCLUSIONS@#Recurrent hyperglycemia in neonates with asphyxia may suggest poor short-term prognosis, and it is necessary to strengthen the early monitoring and management of the nervous system in such neonates.

RESUMO

Considerable effort has been devoted to elucidating the phylogenetic relationships of tetrigides. However, there is still no commonly accepted phylogenetic hypothesis. Therefore, the phylogenetic relationships among some subfamilies remain unclear; e.g., Cladonotinae is a controversial group, in which the phylogenetic relationships between genera and the boundaries of some of the included genera are unclear, causing some of the taxa to be difficult to identify. Therefore, an in-depth phylogenetic analysis of Cladonotinae is urgently needed. In this study, a robust phylogenetic framework for the tetrigides was reconstructed based on the combined mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI), 16S ribosomal RNA (16S rRNA), and nuclear 18S ribosomal RNA (18S rRNA) gene sequences of 25 species belonging to 16 genera of Tetrigoidea from China, which included 13 species from 8 genera of Cladonotinae. Phylogenetic inferences were performed using the combined dataset and Bayesian inference (BI) and Maximum Parsimony (MP) methods, and the phylogenetic tree of Cladonotinae was reconstructed. All inferences based on the results of the present study supported the Cladonotinae subfamily as a polyphyletic group; within the Cladonotinae subfamily, Tetradinodula, and Tuberfemurus were closely related to Tetriginae, while Austrohancockia and Gibbotettix showed a close relationship to the Scelimenidae subfamily. Additionally, a new genus and new species of the Cladonotinae subfamily are described and illustrated: Hainantettix Deng, gen. nov. and Hainantettix strictivertex Deng, sp. nov.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Culture is still the gold standard for the detection of genital mycoplasma which could cause urogenital infections in humans. Mycoplasma IST2 is a commercial kit widely used for the detection of M. hominis and Ureaplasma species. Its accuracy was partially impaired because clinical specimens are usually mixed with purulent or transparent mucus. We aimed to solve this problem through sample homogenization by N-acetylcysteine (NAC) treatment. METHODS: Twenty-two endocervical swab samples were collected from 22 female patients with suspected mycoplasma infection, while 11 of these specimens were with purulent or transparent mucus. Mycoplasma IST2 testing kit was used for mycoplasma culture and AST for the control group and NAC-treated group. RESULTS: Genital mycoplasma was detected in 15 of 22 samples for both groups. The colony number in 6 out of 11 purulent specimens (54.5%) was more than 104 CFU/ml of genital mycoplasma for the NAC-treated group, while only one of 11 (9.1%) for the control group. For the nonpurulent specimens, no significant difference had been found in colony counting of genital mycoplasma between the control group and NAC-treated group (P > 0.05). The results of antimicrobial susceptibility testing for the NAC-treated group were highly similar to those for the control group. CONCLUSIONS: Our results demonstrate that NAC is helpful in sample homogenization and NAC treatment can improve the detection efficiency of mycoplasma with Mycoplasma IST2 testing.

RESUMO

About 83000 COVID-19 patients were confirmed in China up to May 2020. The effects of this public health crisis - and the varied efforts to contains its spread - have altered individuals "normal" daily functioning. This impact on social, psychological, and emotional well-being remain relatively unexplored, especially the ways in which Chinese men and women experience and respond to potential behavioral-related stressors. A cross-sectional study was conducted in late February 2020. Demographic characteristics and residential living conditions were measured along with psychological stress and behavior responses to the COVID-19 epidemic. 3088 questionnaires were received: 1749 females (56.6%) and 1339 males (43.4%). The mean level of stress, as measured by a visual analog scale, was 3.4 (SD=2.4) - but differed significantly by sex. Besides sex, factors positively associated with stress included: age ([≤]45 years), employment (unsteady income, unemployed), risk infection population (exposed to COVID-19, completed medical observation), difficulties encountered (diseases, work/study, financial, mental), behaviors(higher desire for COVID-19 knowledge, more time spent on the COVID-19). "Protective" factors included frequently contact with colleagues, calmness, and psychological resilience. Males and females also differed significantly in adapting to current living/working status, coping with heating, and psychological support service needs. Among Chinese, self-reported stress related to the COVID-19 epidemic were significantly related to sex, age, employment, resilience and coping styles. Future responses to such public health threats may wish to provide sex- and/or age-appropriate supports for psychological health and emotional well-being to those at greatest risk of experiencing stress.

RESUMO

The mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of the Ergatettix serrifemora (Orthoptera: Tetrigidae: Tetriginae) was sequenced and annotated. The assembled mitochondrial genome was 14,947 bp, containing 45.8% of A, 15.7% of C, 9.6% of G and 28.9% of T, respectively, which is the classical structure for insect mitogenome. The region that we failed to sequence was between rrnS and trnI, and generally contained a putative AT-rich region. Twelve PCGs started with typical ATN codon and eleven ended with complete stop codons (three with TAG, eight with TAA). The phylogenetic trees in the current study confirmed that E. serrifemora was clustered with other Tetriginae species, and this study would improve our understanding for the mitogenomes of Tetrigoidea.
