RESUMO

Addressing the growing popularity of mobile health (m-Health) technology in the health industry, the current study examined consumers' intention and behaviour related to the usage of digital applications based on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). In particular, this study quantitatively assessed the moderating role of perceived product value and mediating role of intention to use m-Health application among Indonesians. This study adopted a cross-sectional design and collected quantitative data from conveniently selected respondents through an online survey, which involved 2068 Telegram users in Indonesia. All data were subjected to the analysis of partial least square- structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The obtained results demonstrated the moderating effect of perceived product value on the relationship between intention to use m-Health application (m-health app) and actual usage of m-Health app and the mediating effects of intention to use m-Health app on the relationships of perceived critical mass, perceived usefulness, perceived convenience, perceived technology accuracy, and perceived privacy protection on actual usage of m-Health app. However, the intention to use m-Health app did not mediate the influence of health consciousness and health motivation on the actual usage of m-Health app. Overall, this study's findings on the significance of intention to use m-Health app and perceived product value based on the UTAUT framework serve as insightful guideline to expand the usage of m-Health app among consumers.

RESUMO

This study examined (1) the effect of environmental concern, environmental knowledge, and health consciousness on attitude towards eBikes; (2) the effect of eBikes attributes of interest and infrastructure on perceived behavioural control; and finally, (3) the effect of attitude towards eBikes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioural control on eBikes commuting intention and its usage among Malaysian youth. This study adopted a cross-sectional design and convenience sampling, and collected quantitative data from 699 Malaysian youth through an online survey. Findings revealed that (1) environmental concern, environmental knowledge, and health consciousness had a positive and significant impact on attitude towards eBikes; (2) eBikes attributes of interest and infrastructure were positively and significantly related to perceived behavioural control; (3) attitude towards eBikes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioural control had a positive and significant effect on eBikes commuting intention; (4) eBikes commuting intention was positively and significantly related to the usage of eBikes; (5) eBikes commuting intention significantly mediated the relationship between attitude towards eBikes and perceived behavioural control on the usage of eBikes among Malaysian youth; and (6) eBikes commuting intention did not mediate the relationship between social norm and usage of eBikes. Although environmental knowledge and social norm are proven to have a positive and significant relationship, this analysis demonstrated a relatively low effect size. To promote environmental and sustainable development in cities through the mass adoption of eBikes among Malaysian youth, policymakers should highlight the benefits of using eBikes, introduce proper policies, and involve the development of improved and connected cycling paths in the city sustainable infrastructure plans.

RESUMO

Objective: The current study explores the formation of an intention to use wearable fitness devices (WFDs) with wearable fitness attributes and health consciousness (HCS). Moreover, the research examines the use of WFDs with the health motivation (HMT) and intention to use WFDs. The study also exposes the moderating effect of HMT between the intention to use WFDs and the use of WFDs. Methods: Five hundred and twenty-five adults participated in the current study, and data were collected from January 2021 to March 2021 through the online survey of Malaysian respondents. The cross-sectional data was analyzed using the second-generation statistical method of partial least square structural equation modeling. Results: HCS is insignificantly associated with the intention to use WFDs. Perceived compatibility, perceived product value, perceived usefulness, and perceived technology accuracy significantly influence the intention to use WFDs. HMT significantly impacts the adoption of WFDs; however, the intention to use WFDs negatively but significantly influences the use of WFDs. Lastly, the association between the intention to use WFDs and the adoption of WFDs is significantly moderated by HMT. Conclusions: Our study findings illuminate the significant impact of technology-level attributes of WFDs on the intention to use WFDs. However, an insignificant impact of HCS on the intention to use WFDs was reported. Our result confirms that HMT plays a significant role in the use of WFDs. Such as the moderating role of HMT is vital to transform the intention to use WFDs into the adoption of WFDs.

RESUMO

A significant portion of the solid waste filling landfills worldwide is debris from construction and demolition projects. Across the world, a significant portion of the solid waste filling landfills is made up of construction and demolition waste. Recycling construction waste may help cut down on the quantity of waste sent to landfills and the requirement for energy and other natural resources. To help with construction waste reduction, a management hierarchy that begins with rethink, reduce, redesign, refurbish, reuse, incineration, composting, recycle, and eventually disposal is likely to be effective. The objective of this research is to investigate the viability of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) as a data gathering instrument for the development of a solid waste management assessment tool, followed by an examination of an artificial neural network (ANN). Using a standardized questionnaire, all data was gathered from waste management practitioners in three industry sectors. The survey data was subsequently analyzed using ANN and later AHP. The suggested framework consisted of four components: (1) the development of different level structures for fluffy AHP, (2) the calculation of weights, (3) the collection of data, and (4) the making of decisions. An ANN feedforward with error back propagation (EBP) learning computation is coupled to identify the association between the items and the store execution. It was found that the combination of AHP and ANN has emerged as a key decision support tool for landfilling, incineration, and composting waste management strategies, taking into account the environmental profile and economic and social characteristics of each choice. Composting has the highest sustainable performance when a balanced weight distribution of criteria is assumed, especially if the environmental component is considered in comparison to the other criteria. However, if social and economic features are addressed, incineration or landfilling have more favorable characteristics, respectively.

RESUMO

Higher education institution is an important sector to obtain capabilities for global challenges. This study explored the mediating effect of ambidextrous capability between the link organizational leadership capability, learning orientation, and strategic flexibility on the performance of private higher education institutions in Indonesia. In this cross-sectional study, an online survey, which involved 524 rectors or deans in private higher education institutions (HEIs), was conducted using Google Forms. The accumulated data were analyzed using SEM-PLS 4.0. The findings revealed that organizational leadership capability displayed a statistically insignificant effect on organizational performance. However, learning orientation and strategic flexibility were found statistically significant effects on organizational performance. Moreover, this study also confirmed that organizational leadership capability, learning orientation, and strategic flexibility had a significant correlation with ambidextrous capability. The relationship between organizational performance and ambidextrous capability was identified as having no significant relationship. Apparently, organizational leadership capability, learning orientation, and strategic flexibility had no significant effect on organizational performance through ambidextrous capability. This study confirmed that ambidextrous capability had no mediating effect between organizational leadership capability, learning orientation, and strategic flexibility on the performance of private higher education institutions. This study found that dynamic capability theory (DCT) by identifying the mediating effect of the ambidextrous capability to gain organizational performance was not supported by the findings of this study. The ambidextrous capability may be applied to devise effective strategies and policies that can enhance organizational performance of different sectors.

RESUMO

This research developed a mobile medical supplies and equipment ordering app (MMSEOA) model and attempted to validate it empirically. When customers (clinic doctors) make purchases on the app, two types of reasons can be identified: "reasons for" include enduring involvement (emotions), product description, and awareness (familiarity) while the "reasons against", were demonstrated as perceived risk and resistance to change (fear). This study aimed to strengthen and illuminate the most significant dimensions that enhance a doctor's understanding of MMSEOA and the intention to use it. Furthermore, this research investigated the model's applicability among clinic doctors in Jordan. The model was empirically examined using a sample of 342 Jordanian clinic doctors and their secretaries who use mobile services in general. The survey method, a quantitative approach, was utilized; the partial least squares structural equation modeling system was used to investigate the proposed framework. The results demonstrate that these "reasons for" positively influenced the intention to use the MMSEOA except product description. Similarly, reasons against negatively influence the customers' intention to use the MMSEOA app, while perceived risk had no effect on the intention to use. These findings suggested that researchers should focus more on the services, products, and the main function of the MMSEOA to determine their influences on customers' intention to use. This will improve the buying habits related to purchasing medical supplies using MMSEOA and other online platforms, specifically in Jordan and the Middle East at large.

RESUMO

One of the goals of happiness research is to identify the key factors that influence it. Therefore, the present research is designed to examine the determining factors of subjective wellbeing (SWB) in Pakistan. The present research is conducted by collecting the data of 1,566 households in Punjab, Pakistan, using the ordered logit and tobit model. The findings of this research confirm that income, education, government effectiveness, no perceived corruption, and perceived institutional quality improve wellbeing, while lower trust in family and friends, poor health status, living on rent, and dissatisfaction with the services of hospitals lower the level of wellbeing. But individuals with more social ties, who face barriers in health services, live more happily satisfied with their lives. Crime victimization and worrisome terrorism also lower the level of SWB. Findings of research strongly emphasize policymakers and government institutions to improve their quality and take essential measures for improving the governance structure.

RESUMO

Mobile technology is popular because it facilitates users in multiple ways. This technology is revolutionising the healthcare industry, and mobile-based wearable medical devices (WMDs) are becoming common. Technology adoption is always challenging, and technology value is based on the technology attributes and personal inclination towards using the technology. This study investigates how the perceived product value is influenced by compatibility, cost, personal privacy, technology accuracy, and usefulness. The perceived product value instigates the intention to use wearable medical devices and health motivation (HMT), and the intention to use promotes the adoption of WMDs. Furthermore, the relationship between the intention to use and the adoption of WMDs is moderated by HMT. The current work employed a cross-sectional research design, and data were collected through an online survey of Malaysian adults. Data analysis was performed using partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). The analysis revealed that the WMDs' compatibility, cost, and technology accuracy significantly influenced the WMDs' value. Besides, the perceived product value impacted the intention to use WMDs, while HMT and intention to use WMDs insignificantly influenced the adoption of WMDs. Finally, HMT significantly moderated the relationship between the intention to use and the adoption of WMDs. This study also reports the limitations and future research opportunities.

RESUMO

The persistent rise of pandemics across the globe in recent times has led to the prescription of several collaborative preventive strategies to reduce the effect that the pandemic has on public health. Consistent monitoring and surveillance appear to be the only available approach to detecting and classifying the issues of public health threats. Global pandemic threats demand public co-operation to take preventive actions at a personal level so that the risk of infectious diseases can be contained. Said that, this study explored the influence of awareness of precaution measures (APM), concerns about coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) (CAC), knowledge of COVID-19 (KOC), and perceived risk (PRK) on preventive behavior (PRB), as well as the effect of age and gender on the relationships among the studied variables. Quantitative data were collected from 551 university students across Malaysia and Vietnam through field survey and online survey, respectively. The data collection was performed from 13 March to 23 March 2020. Partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed for data analysis. The multiple group analysis (MGA) technique was applied to compare the data retrieved from the respondents based on age and gender. The results revealed that APM, CAC, KOC, and PRK on PRB significantly influenced PRB toward COVID-19. In light of the two personal factors, age and gender, significant variances were noted for age and KOC, while PRK on PRB on the PRB toward COVID-19. Based on the study outcomes, APM emerged as the most significant predictor of PRB, followed by PRK on PRB, and CAC. Since a large fraction of the world reside in rural areas and have high-level interaction with animals, the provision of education at all level can harness the attitude to adopt PRB toward COVID-19. As such, policymakers need to work with the young generation so that the latter may serve as change agents to spread the message of taking precautions and adopting effective PRB toward COVID-19.

RESUMO

The smart wearable device is a new breed of mobile device that offers diversified utilities for health, sport, and finance for consumers worldwide. The current study aims to investigate the provocation of the intention to use smart wearable payment devices among Malaysian consumers. The unified theory of technology acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) was employed with the cross-sectional survey-based data to explain the adoption of the smart wearable payment device. Furthermore, the UTAUT model was extended with trust and lifestyle compatibility factors to investigate smart wearable payment device adoption. The survey-based data were collected through the online survey and analyzed through the symmetrical modeling approach of partial least squares structural education modeling (PLS-SEM) to evaluate theoretical associations between the study constructs. The fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) was employed as an asymmetrical approach. As a result, it was found that the ease of use, lifestyle compatibility, and trust significantly impacted the intention to adopt smart wearable payment devices. However, social influence and facilitating conditions did not support the intention of adopting smart wearable payment devices. Adopting these devices requires policy and infrastructure development to harness the adoption of smart wearable payment devices. This paper is concluded with study limitations and future research suggestions.

RESUMO

Innovative technologies are paving the way for the online purchase of products and services. The COVID-19 also harness online shopping and hotel booking in the post-COVID-19 era. Online hotel booking is becoming the norm among young consumers. The six determinants of the intention to use online hotel booking platforms (OHBPs) are information quality, integrity, perceived risks, perceived benefits, system quality, and service quality was utilized in the study. Cross-sectional data were collected through the online survey, and 884 valid responses were utilised for the data analysis. The analysis results showed that the perceived benefits, system quality, and service quality significantly predicted the intention to use the OHBPs. Meanwhile, the usefulness and quantity of online reviews and the intention to use OHBPs have a positive and significant effect on the usage of the OHBPs. The study results confirmed the insignificant moderating role of the usefulness and quantity of online hotel booking reviews in the relationship between the intention to use and the usage of OHBPs. The intention to use OHBPs had low predictive power, while the usage of OHBPs had high predictive power. This study's findings have offered valuable theoretical and managerial contributions. The management of OHBPs needs to concentrate on information quality and integrity to help manage the associated risks of online hotel booking. Previous customers' reviews are vital to encourage the usage of OHBPs. Finally, social media usage and promoting the OHBPs by sharing satisfied users' experiences improve the intention and usage of the OHBPs.

RESUMO

The interaction between environment and individual personality determines career. Over the past decades, the role of personality traits in explaining entrepreneurship cannot get much attention of researchers. To fill this gap, this study aims to investigate the effect of personality traits (extraversion, openness to experience, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and agreeableness) on the entrepreneurial intentions (EI) along with the mediating role of financial risk taking (FRT). Sample size consists of 500 students of business and management of different universities of Pakistan, out of which 466 useable questionnaires were collected and analyzed. The results of the study are consistent with conventional wisdom as explored by past studies. In line with past studies and proposed hypothesis, we found that both extraversion and openness to experience have a positive association with FRT, whereas neuroticism, conscientiousness, and agreeableness have negative association with FRT. The results also revealed that there is positive association between FRT and EI; however, FRT did not mediate the relationship between agreeableness and EI.

RESUMO

The purpose of this article is to explain how online advertising affects customer satisfaction through the mediation of brand knowledge. The sample size of this survey is based on 100 participants in the Multan region. This study collects data by conducting various unstructured interviews. In this study, we used a qualitative data acquisition technique. The results show that online advertising does not have a significant impact on customer satisfaction. However, when brand knowledge is included as a parameter, the correlation between online advertising and customer satisfaction increases. Online advertising is a new advertising tool used by most organizations. This manuscript helps practitioners choose better tools for online promotion and uses a variety of recognition techniques to improve their brand knowledge. It has been known through this study, that building customer confidence in product quality is a very effective approach in front of business owners, as brand reputation enhances customer satisfaction. This study is unique in that previous studies considered elements of brand knowledge as parameters and ignored to find a direct relationship between online advertising and customer satisfaction. This study highlights key points that will help emerging researchers critically analyze such aspects in future studies.

RESUMO

This study explored the willingness and purchase of travel insurance during the COVID-19 pandemic amongst working adults to ensure their safety and welfare through the lens of the theory of planned behavior. Primary data were gathered from 1,118 working adults across Malaysia and analyzed using the partial least squares structural equation modeling. The study outcomes revealed that attitude toward travel insurance was significantly influenced by insurance literacy, perceived health risk, and health consciousness. The willingness of working adults to purchase travel insurance was highly influenced by attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral controls but unaffected by perceived product risks. The purchase of travel insurance was positively influenced by the willingness to purchase travel insurance. In fact, travel insurance literacy and perceived health risk should be emphasized amongst working adults to encourage them to purchase travel insurance policies for traveling abroad.

RESUMO

Background: The distribution of postoperative orthopedic infection and their susceptibility pattern to antibiotics vary regionally and change over time. The incidence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infection is rising worldwide. Therefore, knowledge of the frequency of the causative microorganisms and their susceptibility to antibiotics are necessary for an improved therapeutic outcome. This study aims to study the frequency and distribution of postoperative orthopedic infection and their resistance pattern to antibiotics. Methods: The study utilized a retrospective design that took place over a period of 5 years from 2016 and 2020 at a tertiary care hospital. The bacterial culture testing was performed by a recommended method. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data. Results: A total of 158 patients (100 males and 58 females) with positive cultures of postoperative orthopedic infection were included. The most common infective organism was Staphylococcus aureus, 64 patients (38.1%); coagulase-negative staphylococci, 40 patients (23.8%); Klebsiella species, 14 patients (8.3%); and Enterococcus species, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa in 10 patients (6%). Data also showed that gram-positive bacteria were detected in 118 patients (70.8%), while gram-negative microorganisms were found in 50 patients (29.8%). Among Staphylococcus aureus, 79.7% were MRSA, and vancomycin was the most effective antibiotic in staphylococcus infections. The antibiotics with the greatest sensitivity to gram-positive bacteria were vancomycin, linezolid, tigecycline, moxifloxacin, and nitrofurantoin, while the antibiotics for gram-negative bacteria with greater sensitivity were tigecycline, amikacin, ertapenem, imipenem, and cefotaxime. Conclusion: Staphylococcus aureus is the most common postoperative orthopedic infection, which was predominantly MRSA with vancomycin being the most effective antibiotic. In addition, the results showed a high resistance pattern to the commonly used antibiotics, leaving few choices. Antibiotic agents should be carefully selected according to specific drug sensitivity through routine monitoring of drug resistance patterns and to help formulate hospital antibiotic policy.

RESUMO

Wearable fitness devices (WFDs) are prevalent personal technology that empowers the users' management and supervision of their personal health. The current study explored the impact of health consciousness, health motivation, perceived cost, compatibility, usefulness, and perceived technology accuracy with the intention to use the WFDs. Furthermore, the users' conspicuous consumption and intention promote the usage of WFDs. A cross-sectional and quantitative research design was utilized for the current study, followed by data collection through social media and a final analysis with 1,071 samples data. The data analysis was accomplished with the partial least square regression structural equation modeling. The findings of this study revealed that the users' level of health consciousness, perceived compatibility, usefulness, perceived cost, and technology accuracy significantly influenced the intention to use WFDs. However, the conspicuous consumption and intention indicated the support for the usage behavior of the WFDs. This behavior significantly moderated the relationship between the intention and usage behavior for the WFDs. This study contributed to the theoretical realm for prompting the intention to use the WFDs with personal protection motivation that depicts the coping strategy and technology level attributes that form the intention to use WFDs. The WFDs manufacturers should therefore focus on developing WFDs features that harness usage behavior among the adults. Developing the personal responsibility to reduce the burden of the healthcare system and taking care of personal health could promote the usage of the WFDs.

RESUMO

Economic sustainability involves the development of an organisation that meets its future needs through an integrated policy, planning, and social learning process. The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating role of competitive advantage in the relationship between strategic orientation and economic sustainability under unpredictable circumstances. This study collected quantitative data from a total of 284 halal small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from Indonesia through structured interviews. Data were analysed using partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). Moreover, this study adopted artificial neural network (ANN) analysis for a model-free estimation using non-linear, multilayer, and parallel regression. The results revealed statistically significant and positive effect of strategic orientation on economic sustainability. Additionally, this study found that competitive advantage expanded the effect of strategic orientation on economic sustainability. Findings of ANN analysis confirm high prediction accuracy of the model. Findings of the sensitivity analysis highlighted the importance of innovation, network and technological orientation, and the positive effect of competitive advantage on halal SMEs economic sustainability. In order to achieve long-term economic sustainability, halal SMEs should therefore focus on innovation capacity, vertical and horizontal networking and adoption of the latest technologies. The uniqueness of this study focused on the strategic orientation and value of competitive advantage of halal SMEs towards economic sustainability. Additionally, this study was the first to develop hybrid SEM-neural network analysis to apply sensitivity analysis for the evaluation of the contribution of each exogenous predictor towards the endogenous construct.

RESUMO

Worldwide concern and ascendancy of emissions and carbon footprints have propelled a substantial number of explorations into green concrete technology. Furthermore, construction material costs have increased along with their gradual impact on the environment, which has led researchers to recognize the importance of natural fibers in improving the durability and mechanical properties of concrete. Natural fibers are abundantly available making them relatively relevant as a reinforcing material in concrete. Presently, it should be recognized that most construction products are manufactured using resources that demand a high quantity of energy and are not sustainable, which may lead to a global crisis. Consequently, the use of plant fibers in lightweight foamed concrete (LFC) is deemed a practical possibility for making concrete a sustainable material that responds to this dilemma. The main objective of this study is to investigate the effect of the addition of lignocellulosic fibers on the performance of LFC. In this investigation, four different types of lignocellulosic plant fibers were considered which were kenaf, ramie, hemp and jute fibers. A total of ten mixes were made and tested in this study. LFC samples with a density of 700 kg/m3 and 1400 kg/m3 were fabricated. The weight fraction for the lignocellulosic plant fibers was kept at 0.45%. The durability parameters assessed were flowability, water absorption capability, porosity and ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV). The results revealed that the presence of cellulosic plant fibers in LFC plays an important role in enhancing all the durability parameters considered in this study. For workability, the addition of ramie fiber led to the lowest slump while the inclusion of kenaf fiber provided optimum UPV. For porosity and water absorption, the addition of jute fiber led to the best results.

RESUMO

Sustainable enterprises are essential for developing economies' progress and prosperity. Micro-enterprises (MEs) play an important role in creating jobs and actively participating in socioeconomic activities. However, little is known about how MEs use internal capabilities to achieve long-term success. This study explores the influence of the strategic orientations (i.e., sales, consumer, competitive, emotional, business, and networking) instigating the sustainability orientation. The sustainability orientation nurtures the sustainable performance of the MEs. The cross-sectional data collected from the 450 MEs with the structured interviews and samples were randomly selected from the list of MEs registered in seven districts of Kelantan, Malaysia. The collected data were analyzed with partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The data analysis discovered that the sale, consumer, competitive, and emotional orientation significantly impact the MEs' sustainable orientation. The business and networking orientations insignificantly facilitate the sustainable orientation among the samples. The MEs' sustainable orientation suggestively influences the sustainable performance among the MEs. Furthermore, the study analysis postulated a significant mediating effect of sustainable orientation among the orientations (sale, consumer, competitive, and emotional) on the MEs' sustainable performance. Our study offers a better understanding of the RBV in the MEs and brings significant empirical evidence to attain sustainable performance with the firm's level orientation for the MEs. The study brings forward the practical implication for business and policymakers that the MEs require internal and external support to align the business and networking orientation to harness the sustainable performance among the MEs. In the end, the study limitations and future research options are highlighted.

RESUMO

Analytical techniques as strong, precise, and expensive are necessary for monitoring food and water safety for contaminants, microorganisms, and allergies that might be harmful if used. Sudan dyes are commonly utilized as an ingredient in food dye substances and a variety of industrial items. These colors are classified as three carcinogens and are linked to liver and bladder cancers. They are not authorized for human consumption by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and are not permitted to be used by the Food Standards Agency or the European Union. This article describes electrochemical dye analysis beside the numerous electrochemical sensors utilized to identify these dyes as a food colorant and water. As a result, the qualities, chemistry, and toxicity of dyes as food colorants and industrial goods in Sudan have been investigated in this study. Sudan dyes have been thoroughly studied, and many electrochemical sensors have been developed to define and monitor these dyes in food colorants. As a result, current electrochemical sensors have been found to be neither mass-production nor cost-effective. Mostly, the synthesis of high-performance materials needs high knowledge, and the production of electrode surfaces is remained difficult due to labor-intensive and time-consuming activities.
