Año 2020: total 172 alumnos (8 libres y 1 libre no aprobado). En la primera fecha de examen se presentó el 86,05% del alumnado (148 estudiantes). Aprobó el 95,27% (141 aprobados y 7 desaprobados). La media fue 6,81% (DS+-1,73) (AU)

RESUMO

Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (ZES) is characterised by refractory peptic ulcer disease, severe diarrhoea and gastric acid hypersecretion associated with an islet-cell tumor of the pancreas (gastrinoma). ZES is sporadic in 62-80% of cases and in 20-38% of cases is associated with multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN 1). The diagnosis of ZES is certain when the plasma gastrin is >1000 pg/mL and the basal acid output is >15 mEq/h in patients with an intact stomach, >5 mEq/h in gastrectomised patients, or when the hypergastrinemia is associated with a pH <2. Treatment is based on the control of gastric acid hypersecretion and of the malignant tumor and its possible metastases. Proton pump inhibitors are the most effective antisecretory drugs and can be administered at high dosages without drug-related adverse effects. All sporadic, localised gastrinomas should be excised if possible. When liver metastases are also present, their debulking may improve symptoms and survival, and facilitate medical treatment. There is some controversy as to the surgical approach for gastrinomas associated with MEN 1. Somatostatin analogues can be useful in reducing gastric acid hypersecretion, serum gastrin and gastric enterochromaffin-like cells, and can thus contribute to treating the disease more effectively. Their antiproliferative effect can be used in treating liver metastases. Chemotherapy and/or interferon are indicated only in patients with malignant progressive disease. Embolisation and chemoembolisation are effective in controlling clinical symptoms; however, they do not seem to improve survival.

RESUMO

During the EOCUMM '94 cruise, 15 stations located in the Eolian Islands area (Southern Tyrrhenian Sea) were sampled to analyse the distributions of the total bacterioplankton densities and the heterotrophic viable bacteria counts on Marine Agar 2216. According to the TS (temperature-salinity) diagrams, obtained by processing the CTD (conductivity-temperature-depth) vertical profiles, the sampled stations were grouped in "hydrological clusters". The bacteriological variables, together with the chlorophyll a and the particulate organic carbon measures obtained during the same cruise were used to compare the stations of the same and different clusters. The results indicated that variabilities of the analysed microbial parameters were not obviously related to the hydrographic features of the sampling stations. This work is an attempt to verify the possibility of using microbial parameters to characterize the structure of the water column.

RESUMO

The microbial community structure was investigated in a one month survey at two sampling stations located in the Terra Nova Bay (Antarctica). The microbial assemblage was studied by direct counts with epifluorescent microscopy (picoplankton and picophytoplankton), fractionated adenosine-triphosphate, lipopolysaccarides and bacterial growth on cultural medium. The results underwent the Spearman rank correlation and the principal component analysis together with other environmental parameters (temperature, salinity, nutrient salts and chlorophyll a) with the aim of revealing differences in the microbial community structure between the in-shore and off-shore sites.

RESUMO

A one year clinical activity of instrumental angiological diagnostics (doppler c.w. examinations) was evaluated and analysed. 970 outpatient continuous wave doppler have been performed: 37% examinations of epiaortic vessels (TSA), 31% examinations of lower limb veins, 28% examinations of lower limbs arteries. The question has been inappropriate (normal exam) in 81% of TSA, in 67% of AIA and in 52% of AIV. The authors think that the reasons for these results are a large misinformation from the physicians postulant and a consequent abuse of the instrumental method. It's therefore necessary to put a clinical filter to regulate the access to the instrumental (high technological) examinations, too often unnecessary.
