RESUMO
A case of calcified lymphangioma of the pancreas is presented. The pattern of calcification evolved through three distinct phases over a 15-year period, suggesting at first a lymphangioma or hemangioma and later a cystadenoma.

To investigate the possible association of bacteremia with barium enema examinations, blood samples were obtained from 42 patients before and at 5, 10, and 20 min after administration of the enema. Patients with fever or symptoms suggestive of inflammatory bowel disease were not included in the study; neither were patients who had received antimicrobiotic medication during the preceding 3 months. Pour-plate blood cultures showed no bacteremia due to enteric organism in the 42 patients-a result at variance with previously published reports.

Four cases are discussed in which were found unusual multiple chronic pulmonary nodules: leiomyomatous hamartomas, rheumatoid nodules, multiple histoplasmomas, and possible multiple plasma cell granulomas (hyalinizing pulmonary nodules). In each case the initial impression of metastic malignancy was countered by more than 2 years' observation, during which time the lesions appeared to be benign. Histologic examination is necessary to exclude malignancy, although a definitive diagnosis may be difficult to establish.

Case reports of seven patients in whom unusual abnormalities caused widening of the cervical intervertebral foramen are presented. Plain roentgenographic and tomographic changes may be quite distinctive, especially in a patient with an absent pedicle or a tortuous vertebral artery. However, angiography has proved to be a useful adjunct to determine the etiology in many of these lesions.

Intestinal infarction was produced in 10 dogs by means of microsphere embolization. Intravenous and intra-arterial injections of 99mTc-pyrophosphate were then administered and in vivo and in vitro scintigrams obtained. Positive in vitro images of the infarctions were seen for all the dogs and positive in vivo radionuclide accumulation was seen for all the dogs which had intra-arterial injections. Only 1 of the 4 dogs with intravenous injection showed positive in vivo imaging of the infarction.

The renal angiographic findings in our two patients with scleroderma and recent onset of hypertension included minor changes in the distal interlobar and arcuate arteries and a nephrogram displaying diffuse, spotty lucencies. Although the spotted nephrogram is occasionally seen in cases of severe nephrosclerosis, we believe that, in the absence of major arterial changes in the arcuate and distal interlobar arteries, it is virtually diagnostic of renal scleroderma.

Pulmonary lymphangitic carcinomatosis, a grave complication of malignant neoplasms, usually progresses rapidly and is fatal despite all modes of therapy. We recently observed complete resolution of pulmonary lymphangitic involvement from an adenocarcinoma of the breast following both chemotherapy and bilateral oophorectomy. The patient's chest radiograph has remained clear for 1 1/2 years.
