Increased use of ultra-wideband (UWB) in biomedical applications based on wireless body area networks (WBAN) opens a variety of options in the field of biomedical research. WBAN may aid in the continuous health monitoring of patients while they go about their everyday lives. Many studies and researchers were conducted several experimentations in the same field for the performance improvement. This study covered the hybridization of UWB technology, as well as on-body, off-body, and human-body ultra-wideband communication (HB-UWB). In this paper, the parameters considered are throughput, energy consumption, energy efficiency, energy used, network survival and delay. An improved model for design and assessment of power-saving UWB-WBAN was developed in this paper. A novel protocol model was introduced in this paper, namely low-power traffic-aware emergency based narrowband protocol (LTE-NBP) to overcome the major drawbacks of emergency, critical data transmission, reliability and the power issues in UWB-WBAN. It's the emergency-based low-power traffic-aware narrowband protocol. It is based on the dual-band physical layer technology. The suggested protocol considered an aware traffic model and an emergency medium access control (MAC) protocol. The proposed model's performance was evaluated and compared with the related algorithms on different performance parameters. The improved model is found to be efficient in throughput, energy efficiency, energy consumption, and delay.

In this investigation, microwave radiation was used alongside a combination of Ni powder, Si powder, and La2O3 (Lanthanum oxide) powder to create surface cladding on SS-304 steel. To complete the microwave cladding process, 900 W at 2.45 GHz was used for 120 s. "Response surface methodology (RSM)" was utilized to attain the optimal combination of microwave cladding process parameters. The surface hardness of the cladding samples was taken as a response. The optimal combination of microwave cladding process parameters was found to be Si (wt.%) of 19.28, a skin depth of 4.57 µm, irradiation time of 118 s, and La2O3 (wt.%) of 11 to achieve a surface hardness of 287.25 HV. Experimental surface hardness at the corresponding microwave-cladding-process parameters was found to be 279 HV. The hardness of SS-304 was improved by about 32.85% at the optimum combination of microwave cladding process parameters. The SEM and optical microscopic images showed the presence of Si, Ni, and La2O3 particles. SEM images of the "cladding layer and surface" showed the "uniform cladding layer" with "fewer dark pixels" (yielding higher homogeneity). Higher homogeneity reduced the dimensional deviation in the developed cladding surface. XRD of the cladded surface showed the presence of FeNi, Ni2Si, FeNi3, NiSi2, Ni3C, NiC, and La2O3 phases. The "wear rate and coefficient of friction" of the developed cladded surface with 69.72% Ni, 19.28% Si, and 11% La2O3 particles were found to be 0.00367 mm3/m and 0.312, respectively. "Few dark spots" were observed on the "corroded surface". These "dark spots" displayed "some corrosion (corrosion weight loss 0.49 mg)" in a "3.5 wt.% NaCl environment".

Plant species rich in antioxidants (vitamins, flavonoids, lignans, and carotenoids) have been explored for complementary therapy of chronic diseases (cancers, coronary heart disease) and mitigation of pollutant toxicity. This article investigates their ameliorative role on selective hematological and serum biochemical parameters in fluoride-exposed (190 mg/kg body weight) Swiss albino mice pretreated with the antioxidant-rich diet supplements tomato puree (with and without peels), spirulina (cyanobacteria), and lycopene (present in tomato) for 45 days prior to entry into experimental protocol. Compared with standard feed control, diet-modulated controls had more hairy and lustrous white fur, hemodilution, increase in platelet counts (2- to 5-fold), red blood cell (RBC) size (11%-14%), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (Hb) concentration (MCHC; 5%-14%), and serum albumin (23%-27%). Fluoride-exposed mice reared on standard feed had less hairy, pale white, lusterless fur and black nails, reduction in RBC and white blood cell (WBC) counts and Hb content, and morphological abnormalities in RBCs (poikilocytosis). By contrast, fur quality of fluoride-treated diet-modulated groups was similar to standard feed control; counts and morphology of their RBCs and Hb content similar to the respective controls, and increase in WBC counts greater than controls. In comparison to the fluoride-treated standard feed group, platelet counts were higher in the treated mice of the diet-modulated groups. This study thus revealed the hemoprotective role of diet supplements in fluoride-treated mice. Considering the prevalence of fluoride-induced chronic toxicity in developing countries, our findings have relevance in minimizing hematological disorders among people residing in the fluoride-affected areas, because indigenously cultivated low-price tomato fruits are easily available for consumption.
