Arthritis is a chronic inflammatory condition that affects millions of individuals worldwide. The conventional treatment options for arthritis often come with limitations and potential side effects, leading to increased interest in herbal plants as alternative therapies. This article provides a comprehensive overview of the use of herbal plants in arthritis treatment, focusing on their traditional remedies, active components, mechanisms of action, and pharmaceutical approaches for enhancing their delivery. Various herbal plants, including turmeric, ginger, Boswellia, and willow bark, have shown anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, making them valuable options for managing arthritis symptoms. The active components of these herbal plants, such as curcumin, gingerols, and boswellic acids, contribute to their therapeutic effects. To enhance the delivery of herbal medicines, pharmaceutical approaches like nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems, liposomes, polymeric nanoparticles, nanoemulsions, microneedles, and inhalation systems have been explored. These approaches aim to improve bioavailability, targeted delivery, and controlled release of herbal compounds. Safety considerations, including potential interactions with medications and the risk of allergic reactions, are also discussed. Future perspectives for this field involve conducting well-designed clinical studies, enhancing standardization and quality control measures, exploring novel drug delivery systems, and fostering collaborations between traditional medicine practitioners and healthcare professionals. Continued research and development in these areas will help unlock the full potential of herbal plants in arthritis treatment, offering personalized and effective care for affected individuals.

PURPOSE: Bagasse, the residue left after extracting juice from sugarcane stalks, is rich in lignocellulosic biomass. The lignin present in this plant biomass is the key factor that hinders the efficient extraction of ethanol from the bagasse. In the current study, γ-irradiated sugarcane mutants were evaluated for variation in lignin content and its corresponding caffeic acid-O-methyl transferase (COMT) gene. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The acetyl bromide method was used to estimate lignin content in sugarcane mutants. PCR-based cloning of the COMT gene was performed in low lignin mutants as well as control plants in E. coli (strain DH5α) to understand the mechanism of variation at the molecular level. The Sanger sequencing for cloned gene was performed to check variation in gene sequence. RESULTS: In comparison to the control (21.5%), the mutant plants' lignin content ranged from 13 to 28%. The Sanger sequencing revealed approximately the same length of the gene from mutants as well as a control plant. In comparison to the reference gene, the mutated gene showed SNPs and indels in different regions, which may have an impact on lignin content. CONCLUSIONS: Therefore, γ-irradiated mutagenesis is an acceptable approach to develop novel mutants of sugarcane with low lignin content to enhance bioethanol production from waste material using bioprocess technology.

Flavonoids are a family of secondary metabolites found in plants and fungi that exhibit strong antioxidant properties and low toxicity, making them potential candidates for medicinal use. Quercetin, a flavonoid present in various plant-based foods, has gained attention for its numerous biological benefits, including anti-inflammatory, anti-fibrosis, and antioxidant properties. The ocular surface research community has recently focused on quercetin's therapeutic potential for managing ocular diseases, such as dry eye, keratoconus, corneal inflammation, and neovascularization. In this paper, we discuss the role of quercetin for ocular disease prevention, highlighting its fundamental characteristics, common biological properties, and recent applications. By reviewing the latest research conducted in the last 10 years which was focused on novel herbal formulations for ocular diseases, we aim to provide insights into the role of quercetin in managing ocular diseases and offer perspectives on its potential as a therapeutic agent.

Rapid progress is being made in the area of nanotechnology; solid lipid nanoparticles are currently at the forefront of research and development. They have the capability of becoming employed in an extensive number of applications, including the delivery of medications, clinical treatment, and research, in addition to uses in other areas of academic inquiry that could benefit from their utilisation. This article presents a thorough analysis of solid lipid nanoparticles, covering subjects such as their goals, preparation strategy, applications, advantages, and possible remedies for the issues that have been raised. This review provides a discussion of solid lipids that is both in-depth and comprehensive. Studies that investigate the manner in which SLNs are prepared and the routes via which they are administered are typical. Aspects concerning the route of administration of SLNs as well as the destiny of the carriers in vivo are also investigated in this paper.

In both developing and developed nations, pulmonary diseases are the major cause of mortality and disability. There has been a worldwide increase in the incidence of both acute and chronic respiratory illnesses, which poses a serious problem for the healthcare system. Lung cancer seems to be just one form of a parenchymal lung disorder, but there are many others, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, occupational lung diseases (asbestosis, pneumoconiosis), etc. Notably, chronic respiratory disorders cannot be cured, and acute abnormalities are notoriously difficult to treat. As a result, it is possible that therapeutic objectives could be achieved using nanotechnology in the form of either improved pharmacological efficacy or reduced toxicity. In addition, the incorporation of various nanostructures permits the enhancement of medication bioavailability, transport, and administration. Medicines and diagnostics based on nanotechnology have progressed significantly toward clinical application for the treatment of lung cancers. In recent years, scientists have shifted their focus towards exploring the potential of nanostructures in the treatment of other relevant respiratory illnesses. Micelles and polymeric nanoparticles are the two most studied nanostructures in a wide range of diseases. This study concludes with a summary of recent and pertinent research in drug delivery systems for the treatment of various pulmonary disorders, as well as trends, limitations, significance, and treatment and diagnostics employing nanotechnology, as well as future studies in this domain.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Diabetes Mellitus, commonly known as DM, is a metabolic disorder which is characterized by high blood glucose level, i.e., chronic hyperglycemia. If it is not managed properly, DM can lead to many severe complexities with time and can cause significant damage to the kidneys, heart, eyes, nerves and blood vessels. Diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) are one of those major complexities which affect around 15-25% of the population diagnosed with diabetes. Due to diabetic conditions, the body's natural healing process slows down leading to longer duration for healing of wounds only when taken care of properly. Herbal therapies are one of the approaches for the management and care of diabetic foot ulcer, which utilizes the concept of synergism for better treatment options. With the recent advancement in the field of nanotechnology and natural drug therapy, a lot of opportunities can be seen in combining both technologies and moving towards a more advanced drug delivery system to overcome the limitations of polyherbal formulations. METHODS: During the writing of this document, the data was derived from existing original research papers gathered from a variety of sources such as PubMed, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar. CONCLUSION: Hence, this review includes evidence about the current practices and future possibilities of nano-herbal formulation in treatment and management of diabetic wounds.
