RESUMO

The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the activities developed by the nursing team at the Northern Regional Health Unit of the Federal District. A questionnaire, which described a variety of daily nursing activities, was administered to 29 nurses, 91 nurse assistants and 42 health care agents. Focus group sessions for each of the professional categories were also conducted. Results showed that all members of the nursing team concentrate their effort in organizing, controlling and attending spontaneous demands as well as providing support to doctors. As a consequence, these professionals prioritize individual attendance to detriment of collective practice.

RESUMO

The purpose of this study is to grasp and to understand the nurses' social representations concerning their work in intensive care unit and the ways of expressing feelings of suffering and pleasure. Six nurses of the intensive care unit of medical, surgical and pediatric clinics were interviewed. The analysis of the social representations made possible the apprehension of the symbolic dimension of the work in the psycho-social (individual), social-dynamic (group) and institutional perspective. We verified that the work in intensive care unit brings pleasure to nurses despite of intense emotional constraint. This qualitative study allowed na in-depth reflection on the issue and made evident the need to deepen research. However, other investigations have to be carried out to deepen the subject on the subjective and symbolic dimension to subsidize the administration of human resources in nursing.

RESUMO

The purpose of this study is to identify and analyse the perception of the faculty members from the nursing undergraduate program of a public federal university on the clinical-faculty nurses integration model. In order to understand the faculty's experiences, a phenomenological approach was used, according to the structural component of the chosen phenomenon. The results showed that this faculty-clinical nurses integration model is seen an a challenge to both faculty and nurse professionals; that adequate resources are crucial for an effective integration between health care practice and education; and finally, that the integration model can bring benefits to both institutions.

RESUMO

Since long ago the nurse has become more concerned about the delivery of care for patients with chronic and degeneratives diseases. Nevertheless, the accomplishment of this task is not an easy one. Moreover, when the patient reaches the final stage. Usually this patient experiences emotional and physical alteration. The family is deeply involved in this process and generally they seek nurses help because they are the closest ones to the patient and his/her family. When the patient go trough this dramatic acute change in health condition or in face of chronic degenerative or final stage disease is made, the relationship with the family becomes more difficult demanding nursing intervention. The objective of this study is to report the experience of nurse's participation in the implantation and development of multidisciplinary group for treatment of chronical and final stage patients. This group has been working for two years and has had good results. This group has worked treatment schemes for treatment used by all members of multidisciplinary team. From previous experiences, we knew that there is always a discrepancy between the information given by professional and friends and relatives ones. Which could increase fear and anxiety the reassurance given by the health team, a fair distribution of tasks and the information delivery to the patient proved to be successful.

RESUMO

The study reports an experience carried out by the Departamento de Assistência de Enfermagem do Hospital Universitário da USP, the implantation and development of the retrospective auditory process for the evaluation of their activities as an instrument for control and maintenance of the quality of nursing care given the community. It describes the various steps, instruments and reports used, as well as the use of the auditory's findings for reviewing the assistential and educational programs developed by the department.
