The study included 164 prostate cancer patients with a history of acute or chronic urinary retention. Conservative therapy or transurethral resection of the prostate were carried out to all patients as treatment for urinary retention. There was studied an influence of transurethral resection of the prostate on the survival of patients with prostate cancer and development of radiation complications following radiotherapy. Overall survival of prostate cancer patients who underwent transurethral resection of the prostate was significantly higher than in patients who had only conservative therapy as a treatment of dysuria. The frequency of radiation complications was lower in patients who had transurethral resection of the prostate prior radiation therapy.

Sixty hypertensive patients (mean age 64.9 +/- 1.5) with acute ischemic stroke were randomized into 2 groups. Both groups received conventional therapy (Aspirin Cardio, Trental, Prestarium, Arifon), which in the test group was added by Mexicor (0.3 gper day for 3 weeks). Circadian blood pressure (BP) and its variability were monitored in all patients at 1, 5, 10, 14, and 21 days after the stroke. NIH Stroke Scale, the Barthel ADL Index, Rankin Scale, Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and Frontal Assessment Battery (FAB) were used for the neurological status assessment. Mexicor was shown to accelerate the systolic and diastolic BP lowering, reduction of BP variability (mainly nocturnal) and improvement of circadian BP profile (more patients showed dipper type hypertension and less - non-dipper, over-dipper and night-peaker patterns, compared with the control group). Mexicor had a positive effect on neurological status, cognitive function and focal neurological deficit severity.

Eighty-five patients, aged 49-63 years, with an ischemic damage of a brain hemisphere have been studied. Interhemispheric asymmetry has been assessed using EEG. The results revealed that a magnitude of interhemispheric asymmetry decreased by the damage of the left hemisphere. In the occipital areas, its magnitude changed in the presence of the ischemic focus in the right hemisphere. The character of interhemispheric interaction in the ventral and dorsal cortex is believed to be a consequence of the development of new structural and functional relations realized as a result of plastic reorganization of its systems.
