[Ectopic pancreas in Meckel's diverticulitis: a description of a new clinical case]. / Pancreas ectopico nel diverticolo di Meckel: descrizione di un caso clinico.

Ectopic pancreas is a rare congenital abnormality probably due to a derangement of embryologic development of digestive tract. Its frequency is reported in the literature between 0.5-14% predominantly distributed in the stomach, duodenum, jejunum. Such condition is extremely difficult to be diagnosed, in fact most of the case of ectopic pancreas are an accidental finding. We describe a case of ectopic pancreas located in the Meckel's diverticulum, resected at laparotomy performed for colonic disease. Although in retrospective review symptoms from ectopic pancreas are reported in up to 50% of the cases our patient was free of symptoms. In addition the finding of ectopic pancreas in Meckel's diverticulum has been described only seldom in the previous literature. Treatment however should always be resection in order to prevent complications that may occur, although rarely.

[Transformation of Waldenström disease into chronic myeloid leukemia]. / Trasformazione di malattia di Waldenström in leucemia mieloide cronica.

The authors describe a case of a 83 years old patient affected with Waldenström disease whose shift in chronic myelogenous leukaemia is surprising because the quickness of the fact and, even more, because the following very fast appearance of quickly fatal paravertebral granulocytic sarcoma, as extramedullary blast crisis expression. This feature appears unusual in old subject.

[A case of diffuse hemangioma of the placenta]. / Su un caso di emangioma diffuso della placenta.

The paper reports a case of diffuse placental hemangioma leading to intrauterine fetal death. Contrary to other cases reported in the literature, polyhydramnios, oligohydramnios and fetal malformations were not observed. The sole finding was a dilatation of the cardiac auricle, in particular on the right-hand side. It is hypothesised that fetal death was due to two concomitant factors: the severe hypoxemic state and the difficulty of venous drainage from the fetus to the mother owing to increased materno-fetal placental shunts.

In this report Authors point out two singular cases of marked progestational changes of stroma and glands in adenomyotic foci. They were two 65 years' old women to whom gestonorone caproato was administered for cystic glandular hyperplasia of endometrium hystologically seen.

[Squamous metaplasia of the cervical canal: histologic observations concerning 1500 hysterectomies]. / La metaplasia squamosa del canale cervicale: rilievi istologici su 1.500 isterectomie.

1.500 cases of total hysterectomies were examined for the sake of point out the incidence and distribution of squamous metaplasia of the endocervix. It was found in 12,6% of cases with a prevalently focal distribution; the prevalent hystological type was hyperplasia of reserve-cells (78,4%). Essential variations in women over 50 years were not noted. S.M. was associated in 33,7% of cases with adenomyosis and in 37,3% of cases with myomas.
