RESUMO

The benign tumor central odontogenic fibroma (COF) accounts for less than 1% of all the existing odontogenic tumors. The mandibular or maxillary cortical plate is seen to show asymptotic diversification. It has been characterized as a benign jaw neoplasm. Radiographically, it primarily manifests as a multilocular radiolucency. Histologically, it comprises fibroblasts and mature collagen fibers. The popular choice for the management of COFs is enucleation, followed by the extraction of associated teeth. COFs have maintained a track record of showing rare chances of recurrence following surgery. COF was detected in a 38-year-old female who had edema in the lower right front tooth region. The lesion was surgically removed, and a histopathological examination was performed. Many case reports of COF have been stated in the literature. This indicates that cases of COF are not a rare appearance.

BACKGROUND: Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) has evolved in the field of endodontics and has helped to diagnose and treat the case very easily and accurately. The researchers set out to pinpoint the exact placement of the roots and canals in the maxillary second molars of North Indians by analyzing CBCT pictures. METHODS: In this study, in vivo CBCT was used to examine the maxillary second molars (n = 70) in detail. Both the number and configuration of root canals may be determined using Vertucci's categorization. RESULTS: Most people had three roots in their second molars (85.7%). Most maxillary second molars that had three roots looked like they had three separate roots (81.7%). In the roots of 85.7% of maxillary second molars, one canal was found in the mesiobuccal roots, and 14.2% had an MB2 canal. All of the canals in the palatal, distobuccal root, and MB1 root were Type I. The Type II canal configuration was found in 11.7% of MB2 canals. Type IV canals were found in 5% of the MB2 canals. The number of maxillary second molars with MB2 was found to be the same for both men and women (P =0.11). The number of MB2 cases did not depend on where the teeth were or how old the person was (P=0.08 and 0.06, respectively). The fact that both second molars appeared at the same time was important (P<0.001). CONCLUSIONS: We report the occurrence of unusual morphologic abnormalities that affect only one root and have only been described in case reports. CBCT scans can help doctors better understand root canal anatomy and potentially enhancing endodontic management outcomes.

Objectives: In today's day and age with the advent of smartphones along with the handy apps available for download, there is increasing opportunities for surgeons to integrate such technology into clinical practice with great ease. This study aims to provide a systematic classification of apps in order to provide dependable data for choosing the right app by both surgeons and trainees. Material and Methods: A series of methodical searches were carried out on "Google Play Store" and "Apple's App Store" with pre-decided keywords. The results were then sorted and segregated into relevant categories like core surgery, apps related to surgical practice, patient utility apps and other surgical branches. Thereafter, the apps that met with our cut-offs, were assessed for their credibility and utility, based on predefined parameters. Results: There were a lot of variations in between the categories we segregated the apps into. Using predefined cutoff criteria, (rating >3 and reviews >30), 48 of the apps were assessed finally for their utility and credibility. Out of these 48 apps, 42 were on android platform while the remaining 6 were on iOS. Ten apps were found to be having high credibility and 15 apps have high utility. Conclusion: The role of smartphone apps in surgery and surgical training appears highly promising and using apps with high credibility and utility will provide dependable and updated information for the surgeons and trainees.
