RESUMO

Organs of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) are essential for iron metabolism and hematopoiesis regulation. Iron deficiency is accompanied by a large number of diseases of GIT. The article discusses the problem of diagnosis and treatment of anemia, It describes mechanisms of development of anemia associated with bleeding, malabsorption, and chronic inflammation. It provides current data on the use of oral and intravenous iron-containing drugs, discusses advantages of the new oral form of sucrosomial iron for the treatment of anemia associated with GIT diseases.

RESUMO

Cryoglobulinemia is a biochemical disorder accompanying many infectious, systemic, and lymphoproliferative conditions. Cryoglobulins are proteins capable of reversible precipitation or gel formation at temperatures below 37 degrees C. There are 3 types of cryoglobulins depending on the type of immunoglobulins in their composition; hence, three types of cryoglobulinemia occurring in different diseases. Clinical manifestations of cryoglobulinemia are sometimes inapparent, various combinations of the symptoms of the disease frequently occur. An example of atypical acute cryoglobulinemic vasculitis in a patient with multiple myeloma and viral hepatitis B is presented. Methods of diagnostics of this disease and its treatment are described.

RESUMO

Modern views of epidemiology, etiology and pathogenesis of iron deficiency anemia are considered. Mechanisms of iron metabolism regulation are described based on the most important literature data and the results of the authors' research. The authors present their own and literature clinical experience of using iron-containing drugs with reference to the existing recommendations on the treatment of iron deficiency anemia. Causes of low treatment efficiency are discussed and the ways to address this problem are proposed based on the published results of clinical research.

RESUMO

The study sample included 170 patients with gynecological diseases, 5 patients with persistent anemia due to systematic blood disorder, 14 healthy patients. The decrease of hemoglobin level lower than 110 g/l is established in 25.7% gynecologic patients and most frequently in those with hysteromyoma. The study revealed that anemia developed due to the female reproductive system disorders and independently of clinically marked loss of blood is an. The biologic characteristic of anemia is the decrease of erythrocytes production under certain diseases against the background of inadequate production of endogenic erythropoietin. The effectiveness of treatment of iron-deficiency anemia is less under decrease of amount of erythrokaryocytes in bone marrow.

RESUMO

With the advent of new cytological techniques, such as computer morphometry, the problems in the study of the structure of reticulocytes that characterize insignificant changes in the parameters of erythroid population functioning in the bone marrow in response to altered hemoglobin synthesis in patients with iron-deficiency anemia (IDA) become topical. The changes in peripheral blood reticulocytes in IDA determine those in red blood cells and may be a reliable differential diagnostic tool to identify IDA.

RESUMO

The authors have used a coefficient that characterizes the functional activity of red blood cells. Evidence is provided for the significance of the coefficient, by comparing the groups of gynecological and gynecological cancer patients.

RESUMO

The aim of the study was to elucidate complex changes in Hgb, erythrocyte count, ESR, and MCH in patients with oncogynecological problems depending on the affected organ and stage of the disease. A total of 340 women were examined in the oncogynecological department of No 40 city hospital, Moscow, from 2005 to 2008. The group included 132 patients with gynecological, 177 with oncogynecological and 31 with oncologycal diseases. A common coefficient was derived to characterize functional activity of erythrocytes The notion of intoxication effect coefficient (IC) is introduced and substantiated. Erythrocyte IC is shown to be useful for the comparison of groups with gynecological and oncogynecological problems. It decreases in patients with a tumorigenic process depending on its phase.

RESUMO

The study enrolled 177 women with gynecological cancer and 132 with gynecological disease. Hemoglobin (Hb), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), red blood cells (RBC), and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) were analyzed. The gynecological patients with anemia showed a correlation between Hb and MCH (p < 0,05), which is indicative of iron deficiency. In the gynecological cancer patients, the correlation between Hb and MCH was significant (p < 0,01), that between Hb and RBC was strong (p < 0,001), suggesting the reductions in both erythropoiesis and Hb synthesis in the erythrokaryocytes. In these patients, anemia results from chronic diseases. The gynecological cancer patients were found to have higher ESR and lower Hb, RBC, and MCH than the gynecological patients.
