[Design and trial of computer test system for experiment courses of human parasitology].

Based on the traditional experimental test of human parasitology, a reform was conducted to avoid the shortage of specimens and a disclosure of test questions. An experimental test system of human parasitology based on client/server (C/S) structure was therefore developed. This practicable system can increase the efficiency and fairness of examination and reduce cost.

[Staining improvement for Blastocystis hominis specimen].

Schaudinn solution was used to fix the Blastocystis hominis specimen and an improved Harris hematoxylin staining was applied to stain it. The method shows clearer internal structure of the parasite, simpler and less time-consuming than the traditional iron hematoxylin solution.

[Dot enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for detection of serum antibody to Blastocystis hominis in humans].

Serum and stool samples were collected from 322 undergraduate students in medical school. Using stool in vitro cultivation as golden standard, 178 cases were found Blastocystis hominis positive and 144 were negative. Dot-ELISA was used to examine the serum samples with a sensitivity of 92.1% (164/178) and specificity of 97.1% (141/144). This revealed that dot-ELISA can be used for antibody detection against Blastocystis hominis.

[Staining improvement for Trichomonas vaginalis specimen].

By changing/improving the preparation, ratio, concentration and pH value of the staining solution, the cultured specimen of Trichomonas vaginalis was better observed. Different parts of the parasite are clearly viewed, and the method is simple, prompt and effective for staining and preservation.
