Background Obesity is the pandemic of this era. At the same time, the commercialisation of thinness has also increased its adversity. Dissatisfaction with body shape is leading to many eating disorders. These disorders further cause several health problems. It has been found that individuals with eating disorders experience insomnia, depression, and anxiety. It also affects the endocrine system and digestive systems of the body. The surgical approach provides a more efficient treatment of obesity with sustainable results. Sleeve gastrectomy is the most popular surgical treatment. Sleeve gastrectomy is one of the prominent bariatric surgeries. Patients going through sleeve gastrectomy not only lose weight but also improve their mental health. Objective This study assesses the relationship between obesity, eating disorders, and physical health. It also focuses on the prevalence of sleeve gastrectomy procedures in such individuals and their outcomes. Methods This study used a cross-sectional design and a convenient sampling technique. The obese individuals who had eating disorders residing in Medina Al-Munawara and Riyadh city were taken as the samples. Online questionnaires were shared with participants to collect their perspectives on their weight, eating disorders, and their impact on physical health. The study collected both retrospective and present data. Results A total sample of 335 participants was taken, of which 181 (54%) were females and 154 (46%) were males, with a mean BMI of 28.85±2.57. The fear of weight gain was found among 265 (79%) of participants, 151 (45%) were feeling guilt while eating, 275 (82%) were weighing themselves daily, 325 (97%) were unable to stop eating even when complete, and 117 (35%) were unable to control themselves when they have food. As per the methods of avoiding weight gain, 166 (49.6%) were skipping a meal, 157 (47%) were following a diet, 17 (5%) were inducing vomiting, and 16 (4.8%) reused laxatives and diuretics. A total of 158 (47.2%) were involved in sports, but it was reduced to 61 (18.25%) upon sickness. Only 24 (7%) participants had undergone sleeve gastrostomy, and 181 (54%) believed that their cravings had increased, 238 (71%) complained of dizziness, and 151 (45%) believed that fast food caused gut unrest. Conclusion Obese individuals who are going through eating disorders are psychologically and physically compromised. They consider skipping meals to be the most efficient means of weight loss, and only a small percentage prefer to go for sleeve gastrectomy.

BACKGROUND:  Cleft lip and palate consists of a wide spectrum of anomalies affecting the oral cavity and lips and can have enduring adverse effects on health. The age at which surgical interventions are done is crucial as it can influence the outcomes. This study aimed to determine the age at which initial cleft lip repairs were performed and the proportion of individuals who underwent additional surgeries to address post-repair complications. METHODS:  A cross-sectional study involving 120 participants was conducted. Data was collected by distributing an online questionnaire to parents of children who had undergone initial cleft lip repair in the Al Madinah region. RESULTS:  The study found that the average age for the initial cleft lip repair in Medina is 0.46 ± 0.27 years. Post-repair complications were observed, including hearing loss in 10.9% of children, heavy breathing issues in 32.8%, an imbalance in facial expression in 47.9%, and swallowing problems in 3.4% of children even after surgery. Approximately 40% of parents sought further procedures to mitigate complications. CONCLUSION:  The study indicated that the first cleft lip repair in Medina typically occurs during the first year of life. However, more extensive research is needed to assess the efficacy of procedures within the city. Further studies should be conducted to provide a more comprehensive understanding of these conditions and the outcomes of their treatments.

Background Weaning is a complex procedure that gradually introduces complementary foods to the baby's diet. Solid food should be started between the ages of 6 and 12 months. Weaning is a challenging and crucial stage in an infant's development. Extreme caution should be used during weaning an infant because delaying it can cause issues like sluggish growth, difficulties feeding, malnutrition, and iron deficiency. Objective The current study aims to determine the impact of delayed or early weaning practices on the nutritional status of preschool children in Saudi Arabia. Data was gathered about the time of complementary food introduction, preferred foods in the initial stages, and a child's health compared to those practices.  Methodology By convenient sampling, a cross-sectional study was conducted to gather data from 385 parents of Saudi children at preschool age. Questionnaires were shared online. Data were recorded and analyzed on IBM Corp. Released 2012. IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 21.0. Armonk, NY: IBM Corp. Descriptive analysis and multivariate ANOVA (MANOVA) tests were performed. Results Only 6.23% of the infants were introduced to complimentary food at optimal age (6 to 12 months), whereas 85% were found to have delayed weaning. As per the BMI, 74.4% of preschool children were severely underweight, 53.6% of infants consumed pureed vegetables early during weaning, and 64% of infants were introduced to eggs and cheese within the first year of life. The timing, pattern, and food items of weaning had a significant (p<0.05) impact on general physical health, as 48.8% of children had pale skin, 46.9% felt tired, 36.5% had swollen joints, and 42% complained of itching and an upset stomach. Conclusion This study couldn't define the direction of significance. Further studies can be done on a larger scale where biochemical tests, and screening can be done on children to find if any significant health problem is prevailing, and the direction of association can be defined.
