RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: to investigate the radiomodifying properties of N-stearoilethanolamine (NSE) in experiment under different conditions of a combined impact of ionizing radiation and stress. METHODS: biochemical, statistical. RESULTS: The radiomodifying properties of N-stearoilethanolamine were revealed under different conditions of a combined impact of ionizing radiation and stress according to the indices of plasma concentrations of TBA-active products, nitrite-anions and catalase activity. CONCLUSIONS: The radioprotective properties of NSE at a dose of 10.0 mg/kg before and after a single total 6.0 Gy irradiation of animals. The radioprotective properties of NSE are identified at a dose of 10.0 mg/kg of animal bodyweight before and after stress. The radiosensitizing properties of NSE occur upon the drug administration in a dose of 10.0 mg/kg before the combined impact of 6.0 Gy ionizing radiation and stress.

RESUMO

UNLABELLED: The study objective was to explore the peculiarities of peripheral blood values in rats under the combined influence of 10.0 mg/kg N-stearoylethanolamine (NSE) and 6.0 Gy dose of ionizing radiation to identify the radiomodifying properties of the drug. METHODS: hematological, statistical. RESULTS: it was found that NSE injection to irradiated rats leads to exacerbation of hematopoietic system disorders indicating to radiosensitizing effect of the substance. CONCLUSIONS: The radiosensitizing effect of the drug was established according to qualitative and quantitative abnormalities in peripheral blood values of the rats. Effect of the NSE drug on the rate of recovery processes (i.e. retardation) in the peripheral blood of rats after irradiation was established under these experimental conditions.

RESUMO

The immune system was examined in those who participated in the liquidation of accident sequelae at the Chernobyl Atomic Power Station and the population exposed to ionizing radiation. Alteration in surface antigenic markers of basic regulatory subpopulations of immunocompetent cells and metabolic changes are caused by radiation and co-existent somatic diseases. Typing for HLA antigens and proteins with a genetically determined phenotype revealed characteristic features of their distribution for the general population.

RESUMO

A total of 18 patients with acute leukemia from those exposed to radiation when they had liquidated the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl Atomic Power Station were examined. Sixteen of them had acute myeloblast cell leukemia, one had acute lymphatic leukemia, and another one had acute promyelocytic leukemia. A complex of hematological, immunocytological, and cytochemical findings, as well as leukocytic and erythrocytic genetically determined antigen typing were used for diagnosis. Signs of severe vegetovascular dystonia was found to be followed by acute leukemia in all the patients. A relationship was established between the therapy resistance and the HLA antigen homozygosity in combination with genetically-determined low reactivity. There were no significant differences between the parameters in question and those in patients with acute leukemia who had been studied in the preaccident period.

RESUMO

The qualitative and quantitative parameters of hemopoiesis and immunocompetent cells were studied in 365 children in the early "iodine" and long-term periods after the accident. In accordance with primary response, a group consisting of 28 subjects with so-called "radiation injury" was distinguished. The early period was marked by unusual qualitative and quantitative hematological changes which, however, did not lead to the development of the hematological syndrome characteristic of acute radiation injury. Certain deviations that corresponded to somatic pathology were detectable at the late periods after the accident.

RESUMO

Activity of alanine and aspartate aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, adenosine, desaminase and AMP-aminohydrolase was determined in rats in the process of the liver regeneration under acute and chronic lesion with CCl4. It is shown that under chronic lesion of the liver with CCl4, in contrast to the acute one, changes in the aminotransferase activity in blood serum are not expressed in the liver, the activity is essentially decreased. A steady increase was observed in the activity of adenosine desaminase, AMP-aminohydrolase and alkaline phosphatase in the liver and blood serum. It is concluded that the normal regenerative process is accompanied by short-term shifts of the enzymes activity in the liver and blood serum. The development of a chronic process results in a characteristic increase in the activity of adenosine desaminase, AMP-aminohydrolase and alkaline phosphatase in the liver and blood serum.
