Background: Cardiomyopathy is a leading cause of sudden out-of-hospital death after severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination. Such unexpected COVID-19-related cardiomyopathies are challenging to diagnose as specific pathological findings are not always identified. Case summary: We reported the autopsy findings of two cases of sudden death due to COVID-19-related cardiomyopathies. In one case, death occurred after SARS-CoV-2 infection, while in the other, after COVID-19 vaccination. We found common pathological findings in both hearts: decreased staining intensity with special stains, loss of rhabdomeres, and multivacuolation in cardiomyocytes without inflammatory cell infiltration. The remaining organs showed no findings that could have contributed to the deaths. Conclusion: In cases of sudden death after SARS-CoV-2 infection or COVID-19 vaccination, the decreased staining intensity with special stains may aid the diagnosis of sudden death due to COVID-19-related cardiomyopathy, even when H&E staining shows few findings.

Acute graft-versus-host disease (aGvHD) remains a major threat to a successful outcome after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Although antibody-based targeting of the CD40/CD40 ligand costimulatory pathway can prevent aGvHD, side effects hampered their clinical application, prompting a need for other ways to interfere with this important dendritic T-cell costimulatory pathway. Here, we used small interfering RNA (siRNA) complexed with ß-glucan allowing the binding and uptake of the siRNA/ß-glucan complex (siCD40/schizophyllan [SPG]; chemical modifications called NJA-312, NJA-302, and NJA-515) into Dectin1+ cells, which recognize this pathogen-associated molecular pattern receptor. aGvHD was induced by the transplantation of splenocytes and bone marrow cells from C57BL/6J into CBF1 mice. Splenic dendritic cells retained Dectin1 expression after HSCT but showed lower expression after irradiation. The administration of siCD40/SPG, NJA-312, and NJA-302 ameliorated aGvHD-mediated lethality and tissue damage of spleen and liver, but not skin. Multiple NJA-312high injections prevented aGvHD but resulted in early weight loss in allogeneic HSCT mice. In addition, NJA-312 treatment caused delayed initial donor T and B-cell recovery but resulted in stable chimerism in surviving mice. Mechanistically, NJA-312 reduced organ damage by suppressing CCR2+, F4/80+, and IL17A-expressing cell accumulation in spleen, liver, and thymus but not the skin of mice with aGvHD. Our work demonstrates that siRNA targeting of CD40 delivered via the PAMP-recognizing lectin Dectin1 changes the immunological niche, suppresses organ-specific murine aGvHD, and induces immune tolerance after organ transplantation. Our work charts future directions for therapeutic interventions to modulate tissue-specific immune reactions using Pathogen-associated molecular pattern (PAMP) molecules like 1,3-ß-glucan for cell delivery of siRNA.

BACKGROUND: Several reports on immunoglobulin (Ig)G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) with gastrointestinal involvement (IgG4-related gastrointestinal disease; IgG4-GID) have been published, although this entity has not been fully established clinicopathologically. Thus, we carried out a multicenter survey. METHODS: Patients with possible IgG4-GID who underwent resection were collected. Histologic slides were reevaluated, and eight cases with diffuse lymphoplasmacytic infiltration but without numerous neutrophils, granulations or epithelioid granulomas were further analyzed. RESULTS: Overall, the IgG4 counts (87-345/high-power field) and IgG4/IgG-positive ratio were high (44-115%). The demographic findings included advanced age among the patients (55-80 years) and male preponderance (six cases). Six lesions (five gastric, one esophageal), consisting of lymphoplasmacytic infiltration with neural involvement in the muscularis propria and/or bottom-heavy plasmacytosis in the gastric mucosa, were histologically regarded as highly suggestive of IgG4-RD. Storiform fibrosis and obliterative phlebitis were found in two cases, and the former gave rise to a 7-cm-sized inflammatory pseudotumor (IPT) in one case. Ulceration and carcinoma co-existed in three and two lesions, respectively. All the patients had other organ involvement (OOI), and serum IgG4 levels were markedly elevated (four of five patients). The remaining two cases with gastric IPTs featuring reactive nodular fibrous pseudotumor or nodular lymphoid hyperplasia were regarded as possible cases of IgG4-RD because of the histologic findings and lack of OOI. CONCLUSIONS: IgG4-GID is found in the setting of IgG4-RD, often with ulceration or cancer. Characteristic histologic findings are observed in the muscularis propria and gastric mucosa. Cases with IPT may be heterogeneous, and there may be mimickers of IgG4-GID.

Visinin-like proteins (VILIPs) belong to the calcium sensor protein family. VILIP-1 has been examined as a cerebrospinal fluid biomarker and as a potential indicator for cognitive decline in Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, little is known about VILIP-3 protein biochemistry. We performed co-immunoprecipitation experiments to examine whether VILIP-3 can interact with reduced nicotine adenine dinucleotide (NADH)-cytochrome b 5 reductase. We also evaluated the specificity of cytochrome b 5 within the visinin-like protein subfamily and identified cytochrome P450 isoforms in the brain. In this study, we show that cytochrome b 5 has an affinity for hippocalcin, neurocalcin-δ, and VILIP-3, but not visinin-like protein-1. VILIP-3 was also shown to interact with NADH-cytochrome b 5 reductase in a Ca2+-dependent manner. These results suggest that VILIP-3, hippocalcin, and neurocalcin-δ provide a Ca2+-dependent modulation to the NADH-dependent microsomal electron transport. The results also suggest that future therapeutic strategies that target calcium-signaling pathways and VILIPs may be of value.

Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is a rare stromal neoplasm and usually occurs in the thoracic cavity. We here report a case of retroperitoneal SFT with prominent calcification. A 64-year-old man presented with an incidentally detected retroperitoneal mass in the right upper abdomen. Imaging tests indicated an integrally calcified mass. The lesion was observed for 2 years and laparoscopically resected according to the patient's wish. Microscopically, the mass was mostly occupied by calcification and proliferous spindle cells were scattered with positive CD34 expression. We diagnosed morphologically benign SFT and the patient remained disease-free 1 year after the excision. There has been no report of such integrally calcified SFT. Retroperitoneal SFT is difficult to make a preoperative diagnosis, and careful follow-up after the excision is recommended because morphological malignancy does not always correspond to clinical malignancy.

Tubular injury is one of the important determinants of progressive renal failure in diabetic nephropathy (DN), and TGF-ß1 has been implicated in the pathogenesis of tubulointerstitial disease that characterizes proteinuric renal disease. The aim of this study was to identify novel therapeutic target molecules that play a role in the tubule damage of DN. We used an LC-MS/MS-based proteomic technique and human renal proximal epithelial cells (HRPTECs). Urine samples from Japanese patients with type 2 diabetes (n = 46) were used to quantify the candidate protein. Several proteins in HRPTECs in cultured media were observed to be driven by TGF-ß1, one of which was 33-kDa IGFBP7, which is a member of IGFBP family. TGF-ß1 up-regulated the expressions of IGFBP7 mRNA and protein in a dose- and time-dependent fashion via Smad2 and 4, but not MAPK pathways in HRPTECs. In addition, the knockdown of IGFBP7 restored the TGF-ß1-induced epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT). In the immunohistochemical analysis, IGFBP7 was localized to the cytoplasm of tubular cells but not that of glomerular cells in diabetic kidney. Urinary IGFBP7 levels were significantly higher in the patients with macroalbuminuria and were correlated with age (r = 0.308, p = 0.037), eGFR (r = -0.376, p = 0.01), urinary ß2-microglobulin (r = 0.385, p = 0.008), and urinary N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminidase (NAG) (r = 0.502, p = 0.000). A multivariate regression analysis identified urinary NAG and age as determinants associated with urinary IGFBP7 levels. In conclusion, our data suggest that TGF-ß1 enhances IGFBP7 via Smad2/4 pathways, and that IGFBP7 might be involved in the TGF-ß1-induced tubular injury in DN.

A 33-year-old man suffered sudden abdominal distension without traumatic episodes. He had undergone total splenectomy for hereditary spherocytosis 13 years ago. He was in shock, and his hemoglobin level was 10.5 g/dl. Contrast enhanced computed tomography revealed a giant mass in the left upper abdomen and extravasation of the contrast material into the mass. Excision of the mass was performed, and microscopic examination showed a giant hematoma surrounded by normal splenic tissue. We speculated that an accessory spleen or splenosis had enlarged for the 13 years and ruptured. The patient remained asymptomatic 4 months after the surgery. Spontaneous hemorrhage from accessory spleens or splenosis is extremely rare, and relevant case reports suggest that surgical resection of bleeding sites yields favorable prognosis although preoperative qualitative diagnosis seems to be difficult.

Uterine tumors with sex cord-like elements are divided in two groups; uterine tumors resembling ovarian sex cord tumors (UTROSCT), and endometrial stromal tumors with sex cord-like elements (ESTSCLE). UTROSCT is currently defined as the neoplasm predominantly or exclusively composed of sex cord-like elements, and generally behaves in a benign fashion. We studied two unusual cases of UTROSCT with metastasis. One case was a 38-year-old multiparous woman presented with hypermenorrhea. The tumor grew as an intramural mass, and metastasized to a pelvic lymph node. Another case was a 57-year-old woman presented with genital bleeding. The tumor grew as a submucosal exophytic mass, and metastasized to the epiploic appendix. Microscopic examination of the 2 cases revealed that they were composed of sex cord-like cells, epithelioid cells and spindle cells. They exhibited solid pattern in predominance. Both solid and sex cord-like elements showed similar immunoreactivities for more than 3 sex cord markers, but simultaneously showed different staining patterns for some other markers. Characteristic features of endometrial stroma such as tongue-like infiltration and spiral arteries-like arterioles were not observed. RT-PCR analysis confirmed the absence of JAZF1-SUZ12 gene fusion, supporting the histopathological diagnosis of UTROSCT rather than ESTSCLE. The current cases warned the potential risk of UTROSCT whose biological behavior is still uncertain. We discuss histopathological, immunohistochemical and molecular findings of UTROSCT with metastasis.

Uterine superficial serous carcinoma (SSC) and serous endometrial intraepithelial carcinoma (SEIC) are unique malignancies found primarily in postmenopausal women. SSC and SEIC lesions measuring 1 cm or less are categorized as minimal uterine serous carcinoma (MUSC). Less well understood, however, the clinical behavior of SSC and SEIC lesions measuring more than 1 cm. We investigated 6 postmenopausal patients, aged 69-83 years, with SSC or SEIC and without hyperestrogenism. All but 1 patient had tumors originating from the surface of polyps, including 3 patients who each had an enormous polyp occupying the entire uterine cavity. Two patients had extensive SEICs measuring more than 1 cm; the others had SSCs, including 1 MUSC. The mesenchymal cells of the cancer-bearing polyps lacked the morphologic characteristics of endometrial stroma, and the cancer glands often immunostained negatively for estrogen receptors and progesterone receptors. Diffuse immunostaining for human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 was detected in 3 patients, and p53 was detected in all. Cyclin E, a downstream molecule of the F-box and WD repeat domain-containing 7 (FBXW7), was detected in all patients. Microdissected cancer glands showed p53 mutations in 2 patients and a FBXW7 mutation in 1 patient. These findings suggest that mutations of FBXW7 and p53 may contribute to the carcinogenesis of less invasive tumor subtypes. Pathologists and physicians should carefully evaluate SSC and SEIC lesions involving large polyps but lacking myometrial invasion.

A 50-year-old female presented with headache symptoms and left hemifacial paresis. Brain computed tomography and magnetic resonance images demonstrated a right frontal lobe tumor with hemorrhage and calcification. A gross total resection was carried out. Pathologically, the tumor exhibited three kinds of structures. The first was an astrocytic area which occupied the large part of this tumor. Small, round cells, which were positive for glial fibrillary acidic protein, were randomly distributed. The second was an epithelioid area with the highest MIB-1 labeling index of the three structures. Undifferentiated tumor cells demonstrated a dense proliferation, and short spindle-shaped cells exhibited an epithelial and a partly luminal alignment that resembled the embryonal neural tube. The third was a sarcomatoid area. Long spindle-shaped cells, which were positive for vimentin, were in a bundle-like form. We diagnosed this tumor as a primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) with epithelial differentiation. PNETs are rare brain tumors with a predominance in children. Histologically, undifferentiated tumor cells demonstrate dense proliferations. The tumor arises from germinal matrix cells that differentiate into neuronal, glial, and ependymal cells. Medulloepithelioma, which is classified in the PNET category, is a very rare brain tumor that usually develops in childhood. Pathological studies have demonstrated that papillary, tubular, or trabecular arrangements of neoplastic neuroepithelium mimic the embryonic neural tube predominantly. In our case, the tumor partly demonstrated epithelial differentiation, which is a feature of medulloepithelioma, not only glial and mesenchymal differentiation. This is a rare case of PNET with uncommon histological features.

BACKGROUND: T-cell based immunotherapy for lung cancer (LC) could be a promising and novel therapeutic approach. Six-transmembrane epithelial antigen of the prostate (STEAP) and the polycomb group protein enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2) are highly expressed in LC and since the expression of molecules in normal tissue is significantly lower as compared to tumor cells, these proteins are considered as potential tumor-associated antigens (TAAs) for developing T-cell based immunotherapy. METHODS: We assessed the capacity of predicted CD4 T-cell epitopes from STEAP and EZH2 to induce anti-tumor immune responses to LC cell lines. RESULTS: Out of several predicted epitopes, two synthetic peptides, STEAP281-296 and EZH295-109, were effective in inducing CD4 T-cell responses that were restricted by HLA-DR1, DR15, or DR53 molecules, indicating that the peptides function as promiscuous T-cell epitopes. Moreover, STEAP281-296 and EZH295-109-reactive T-cells could directly recognize STEAP or EZH2 expressing LC cells in an HLA-DR restricted manner. In addition, some STEAP-reactive T-cells responded to STEAP+ tumor cell lysates presented by autologous dendric cells. Most significantly, both of these peptides were capable of stimulating in vitro T-cell responses in patients with LC. CONCLUSIONS: Peptides STEAP281-296 and EZH295-109 function as strong CD4 T-cell epitopes that can elicit effective anti-tumor T-cell responses against STEAP or EZH2 expressing LC. These observations may facilitate the translation of T-cell based immunotherapy into the clinic for the treatment of LC.

PURPOSE: T-cell based immunotherapy for renal cell and bladder cancer is one of the most promising therapeutic approaches. STEAP is a novel cell surface protein that is over expressed in various cancers, including renal cell and bladder cancer. Recently we induced STEAP specific helper T lymphocytes that recognize the naturally processed STEAP peptide epitopes STEAP(102-116) and STEAP(192-206) arising from STEAP expressing tumor cells. Thus, STEAP may be a useful tumor associated antigen for designing T-cell based immunotherapy. We determined whether STEAP could induce anti-cellular immune responses to urological cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We selected 2 previously described STEAP derived epitope peptides, STEAP(102-116) and STEAP(192-206), and examined their ability to elicit helper T-lymphocyte responses by in vitro vaccination of CD4 T lymphocytes from healthy individuals and patients with cancer. RESULTS: STEAP peptides induced helper T-lymphocyte responses using lymphocytes from healthy individuals that directly recognized STEAP expressing, DR positive renal cell and bladder cancer cells, and autologous dendritic cells pulsed with STEAP expressing tumor cell lysates in a major histocompatibility complex class II restricted manner. These peptides also stimulated T-cell responses in patients with renal cell or bladder cancer. Each STEAP peptides behaved as a promiscuous T-cell epitope, in that they stimulated T cells in the context of multiple major histocompatibility complex class II alleles. CONCLUSIONS: Results show that STEAP helper T-lymphocyte epitopes could be used to optimize T-cell based immunotherapy against STEAP expressing renal cell and bladder cancer.

Aurora kinase A (Aurora-A) is a cell cycle-associated serine-threonine kinase that is overexpressed by various types of cancer and is highly associated with poor prognosis. Since the expression of Aurora-A in normal tissues has been shown to be significantly lower as compared to tumor cells, this protein is being considered as a potential tumor-associated antigen for developing immunotherapies. The goal in the present study was to identify CD4 helper T lymphocyte (HTL) epitopes for Aurora-A for the design of T cell-based immunotherapies against Aurora-A-expressing tumors. Synthetic peptides corresponding to potential HTL epitopes were identified from Aurora-A and used to stimulate CD4 T lymphocytes in vitro to generate antigen-specific HTL clones that were evaluated for antigen specificity, MHC restriction and for their ability to interact with Aurora-A-expressing tumor cells. The results show that two peptides (Aurora-A(161-175) and Aurora-A(233-247)) were effective in generating HTL responses that were restricted by more than one MHC class II allele (i.e., promiscuous responses). The CD4 HTL clones were able to directly recognize Aurora-A-expressing tumor cells in an antigen-specific and MHC class II-restricted manner and some of the clones displayed cytolytic activity toward Aurora-A + tumor cells. Both of these peptides were capable of stimulating in vitro T cell responses in patients with bladder cancer.

BACKGROUND: Focal adhesion kinase (FAK) is a ubiquitously expressed non-receptor tyrosine kinase involved in cancer progression and metastasis that is found overexpressed in a large number of tumors such as breast, colon, prostate, melanoma, head and neck, lung and ovary. Thus, FAK could be an attractive tumor associated antigen (TAA) for developing immunotherapy against a broad type of malignancies. In this study, we determined whether predicted T cell epitopes from FAK would be able to induce anti-tumor immune cellular responses. METHODS: To validate FAK as a TAA recognized by CD4 helper T lymphocytes (HTL), we have combined the use of predictive peptide/MHC class II binding algorithms with in vitro vaccination of CD4 T lymphocytes from healthy individuals and melanoma patients. RESULTS: Two synthetic peptides, FAK(143-157) and FAK(1,000-1,014), induced HTL responses that directly recognized FAK-expressing tumor cells and autologous dendritic cells pulsed with FAK-expressing tumor cell lysates in an HLA class II-restricted manner. Moreover, since the FAK peptides were recognized by melanoma patient's CD4 T cells, this is indicative that T cell precursors reactive with FAK already exist in peripheral blood of these patients. CONCLUSIONS: Our results provide evidence that FAK functions as a TAA and describe peptide epitopes that may be used for designing T cell-based immunotherapy for FAK-expressing cancers, which could be used in combination with newly developed FAK inhibitors.

Myeloid DNAX activation protein 12 (DAP12)-associating lectin-1 (MDL-1), also known as C-type lectin domain family 5, member A, is a type II transmembrane protein belonging to the C-type lectin family and associates with DAP12 (also called KARAP or TYROBP). It has been reported that two isoforms of MDL-1-long form (MDL-1L) and short form (MDL-1S)-exist in mice. Previously, we observed the marked induction of MDL-1 mRNA expression during the pulmonary mycobacterial infection in mice. The data suggested that the MDL-1-expressing cells were involved in immune responses against mycobacterial infection; however, little is known about the function of MDL-1 as yet. In this study, we demonstrated the significant protein expression of MDL-1L and MDL-1S in mouse neutrophils and macrophages. MDL-1L was highly glycosylated by N-linked glycan and sialic acid. Interestingly, the expression pattern of MDL-1 was different between neutrophils and macrophages. MDL-1 expression was notably induced during the differentiation of the mouse myeloid cell line 32Dcl3 into neutrophils. Additionally, we observed that MDL-1 stimulation induced a significant amount of RANTES and macrophage-derived chemokine production in 32Dcl3 cells in cooperation with signaling through TLR. MDL-1 stimulation also up-regulated CD11b expression and maintained cell survival. Our findings indicate that MDL-1, therefore, plays an important role in immune defense as a result of an innate immunity, which involves neutrophils and macrophages.

AIM: In order to clarify the importance of Interleukin (IL)-18 in the development of diabetic nephropathy (DN), we evaluated the expressions of IL-18 in diabetic kidney. METHODS: We performed immmunohistochemical analysis of IL-18 and IL-18 receptor (IL-18 R) in human kidney tissue derived from 12 subjects with type 2 diabetes and overt nephropathy, and compared with those in 7 subjects with minimal change nephrotic syndrome (MCNS). In addition, we examined the regulation of IL-18 expression using human renal proximal tubular epithelial cells (HRPTECs) in culture. RESULTS: IL-18 expression in tubular cells was observed in higher rate (83%) in patients with diabetes, whereas one positive specimen (14.3%) for IL-18 in patients with MCNS. In contrast, IL-18 R was expressed in glomerular mesangial cells and endothelial cells as well as tubular cells, similarly in almost of both groups. Exposure to transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta(1)) led to two-fold increase in IL-18 gene expression in HRPTECs, and mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) inhibitors abolished TGF-beta(1)-induced IL-18 mRNA expression. Western blot analysis showed the IL-18 protein in HRPTECs. CONCLUSION: The present data indicate that IL-18 is overexpressed in human tubular epithelial cells in diabetic nephropathy, probably through the activation of MAPK pathways induced by TGF-beta(1).

EBV-encoded latent membrane protein 1 (LMP1) has oncogenic potential and is expressed in many EBV-associated malignancies. Although LMP1 is regarded as a potential tumor-associated antigen for immunotherapy and several LMP1-specific MHC class I-restricted CTL epitopes have been reported, little is known regarding MHC class II-restricted CD4 helper T-lymphocyte (HTL) epitopes for LMP1. The goal of the present studies was to determine whether MHC class II-restricted CD4 T-cell responses could be induced against the LMP1 antigen and to evaluate the antitumor effect of these responses. We have combined the use of a predictive MHC class II binding peptide algorithm with in vitro vaccination of CD4 T cells using candidate peptides to identify naturally processed epitopes derived from LMP1 that elicit immune responses against EBV-expressing tumor cells. Peptide LMP1(159-175) was effective in inducing HTL responses that were restricted by HLA-DR9, HLA-DR53, or HLA-DR15, indicating that this peptide behaves as a promiscuous T-cell epitope. Moreover, LMP1(159-175)-reactive HTL clones directly recognized EBV lymphoblastoid B cells, EBV-infected natural killer (NK)/T-lymphoma cells and naturally processed antigen in the form of LMP1+ tumor cell lysates presented by autologous dendritic cells. Because the newly identified epitope LMP1(159-175) overlaps with an HLA-A2-restricted CTL epitope (LMP1(159-167)), this peptide might have the ability to induce simultaneous CTL and HTL responses against LMP1. Overall, our data should be relevant for the design and optimization of T-cell epitope-based immunotherapy against various EBV-associated malignancies, including NK/T cell lymphomas.

Dendritic cells (DCs) are considered to be the most powerful antigen-presenting cells (APCs). DCs are thought to be associated with Th1 or Th2 polarization and with polarization-induced disease such as atopic dermatitis, asthma and allergic rhinitis, but its mechanism is not well known. In this study, we analyzed the mRNA expression of DCs between birch pollen allergic rhinitis and healthy controls by using cDNA array. We found that the expressions of CCL22/macrophage-derived chemokine (MDC) differed significantly. We also revealed that CCL22/MDC production was higher in patients than in healthy donors. By chemotaxis assay, CCL22/MDC can enhance the migration of patient's T cells rather than those of healthy controls. Surface marker analysis of migrated cells revealed that the most of migrated cells expressed CCR4, which were considered to be Th2 cells. Furthermore, CD1a(+) CD83(+) cells located in the nasal mucosa expressed CCL22/MDC in vivo. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report clearly indicating the role of CCL22/MDC in allergic rhinitis.

The six-transmembrane epithelial antigen of prostate (STEAP) protein is an attractive candidate for T cell-based immunotherapy because it is overexpressed in prostate cancer and various other tumor types. Several peptide epitopes capable of stimulating CTLs that killed STEAP-expressing tumor cells have been described. Our goal was the identification of helper T lymphocyte (HTL) epitopes of STEAP for the optimization of T cell-based immunotherapies against STEAP-expressing malignancies. Candidate HTL epitopes for STEAP were predicted using in silico algorithms for HLA class II-binding peptides and were tested for their ability to elicit HTL responses by in vitro peptide vaccination of CD4 T lymphocytes from healthy individuals and prostate cancer patients. Two peptides (STEAP(102-116) and STEAP(192-206)) were effective in stimulating in vitro antitumor HTL responses in both normal individuals and prostate cancer patients. Notably, both STEAP HTL peptides behaved as promiscuous T-cell epitopes because they stimulated T cells in the context of more than one MHC class II allele. These newly described STEAP HTL epitopes could be of value for the design and optimization of T cell-based immunotherapy against STEAP-expressing tumors.
