[The reliable and plausible conclusions in the decisions of the forensic medical experts].

The authors characterize in brief the conclusions drawn by the forensic medical experts in the course of their professional activities with special reference to their reliability and plausibility. The most common errors creeping into the conclusions are discussed together with the approaches to their prevention and/or correction. This article continues a series of publications of the same authors concerning the main logical errors encountered in the conclusions of the forensic medical experts. The results of a deeper analysis of such errors will be published elsewhere.

[Classifications in forensic medicine and their logical basis].

The objective of the present study was to characterize the main requirements for the correct construction of classifications used in forensic medicine, with special reference to the errors that occur in the relevant text-books, guidelines, and manuals and the ways to avoid them. This publication continues the series of thematic articles of the authors devoted to the logical errors in the expert conclusions. The preparation of further publications is underway to report the results of the in-depth analysis of the logical errors encountered in expert conclusions, text-books, guidelines, and manuals.

[Forensic medical examination of abrasions in the study of mummified tissues in experiment].

Morphological and biophysical characteristics of abrasions and intact skin were studied during the process of their mummification at temperatures from 40 to 70 degrees C. The time after which the injuries become undetectable because color of the skin and injuries coincides, was determined. Changes in configuration and area of abrasions while drying are described. The rate of mummification and duration of the latter were established by dielectric indices of abrasions and skin at 10 cm wave length.

[Forensic medical assessment of late cadaveric changes in examination of dismembered corpses].

The investigation was made of dismembered corpses parts in time aspect. Various conventional features of the late postmortem period were under consideration: corpse potherb, emphysema, maceration of the skin. The time of manifestation of rotten transformation of a corpse was specified for each dismembered part: the head, the upper and lower parts of the body, the extremities. The results allow the investigator to define time of death by each fragment of a dismembered corpse.

[Dielectric parameters of the tissues as additional criteria of postmortem period duration in medical examination of dismembered corpses].

We studied dielectric indices of soft tissues from the parts of the dismembered corpses (skin, fragments of head, trunk extremities muscles) in terms of postmortem period duration. True (epsilon/) and false (epsilon//) parts of dielectric permeability at 10 cm wave length were determined. We obtained the curves characterizing changes in tissue dielectric parameters for 30 days after death. Thus, biophysical parameters of dismembered coupse fragments allow precise dating of death.
