A cross-sectional study to explore the correlation between cardiac and hepatic iron overload and its impact on the quality of life in children diagnosed with severe beta-thalassemia major (ß-TM). A cohort of 55 pediatric patients with ß-TM, diagnosed via genetic testing at the Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Medical University from January 2015 to January 2022, was included in this study. The assessment of cardiac and hepatic iron overload was conducted using the magnetic resonance imaging T2* technique. The Chinese version of the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) 4.0. Pearson correlation analysis was utilized to assess the relationships between the cardiac and hepatic T2* values and between these T2* values and the total scores of PedsQL 4.0. Analysis showed no significant correlation between cardiac and hepatic T2* values. However, a significant relationship was observed between cardiac T2* values and PedsQL 4.0 total scores (r = 0.313, P < .05), indicating that cardiac, but not hepatic, iron overload is associated with the quality of life. This study highlights the absence of correlation between cardiac and hepatic iron overload levels and demonstrates a significant impact of cardiac iron overload on the quality of life in children with ß-TM. These findings suggest the need for a focused approach to cardiac health in managing ß-TM.

OBJECTIVE: Retifanlimab is a humanized immunoglobulin G4 monoclonal antibody against programmed death 1 being investigated in several solid tumor types. We report final results from patients with recurrent microsatellite instability-high (MSI-H)/mismatch repair deficient (dMMR) endometrial cancer treated with retifanlimab in a POD1UM-101 expansion cohort. METHODS: Eligible patients (≥18 years; histologically proven/unresectable/recurrent, MSI-H/dMMR endometrial cancer; checkpoint inhibitor naive) received retifanlimab 500 mg intravenously every 4 weeks for ≤2 years. Primary endpoint was safety/tolerability. RESULTS: At data cutoff (May 17, 2023), 76 patients had received at least one retifanlimab dose. Median (range) age was 67 (49-88) years; 88.2% of patients had recurrent metastatic disease and 80.3% had visceral metastases. Seventy-five patients (98.7%) had received at least one prior systemic therapy. Median retifanlimab exposure was 10.0 (0.03-25.9) months; 23 patients completed treatment. 38 patients (50.0%) had grade ≥3 treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs), most commonly anemia (n = 10 [13.2%]). 63 patients (82.9%) had treatment-related AEs (TRAEs; grade ≥3, n = 14 [18.4%]); most common was fatigue (n = 14 [18.4%]). Two patients had TEAEs that led to death; no TRAEs were fatal. 39 patients had objective responses (51.3%; 95% CI, 39.6-63.0%); 19 patients (25.0%) had complete response and 20 (26.3%) had partial response. Median progression-free survival was 12.2 months; 30 patients (76.9%) had duration of response (DOR) ≥12 months. Median DOR was not reached after median follow-up time of 26.0 months. CONCLUSIONS: Retifanlimab was generally well tolerated and demonstrated encouraging anti-tumor activity in patients with pre-treated recurrent MSI-H/dMMR endometrial cancer.

The U-shaped fiber configuration represents the elementary form of micro-displacement sensing, characterized by its exceptional freedom and flexibility. The study proposes the U-shaped bent single-mode-multimode-single-mode (SMS) fiber structure that integrates the multimode interference (MMI) effect for enhanced mode dispersion and the Mach-Zönder interference (MZI) effect for spectral sensitivity improvement. The transmission spectral properties of the U-shaped SMS fiber structure with a bent radius over 1 cm are experimentally measured as the change in displacement varied within the range of 5 mm in this work. As the radius decreases, the spectrum shows redshift, which is related to the central wavelength of the peak or dips-a smaller wavelength results in a stronger redshift for the same displacement change. The average sensitivity of micro-displacement measurement within a range of 5 mm is 5.41 pm/µm, and the linearity is 99.62%. The maximum sensitivity of U-shaped SMS fiber structure is 34.46 pm/µm, with the minimum displacement change of approximately 5.804 nm. The transmission spectral properties of the U-shaped SMS fiber structure within the ranges of 50 µm, 500 µm, and 5 mm are experimentally measured in this work. This experiment observed a relatively uniform spectral drift pattern in a large range of micro-displacement sensing. The measurement range is limited by the limited spectral range of the light source and the discontinuous variation in the effective refractive index. This provides an experimental reference for further understanding the characteristics of U-shaped fiber structures and applying its application in micro-displacement sensing.

Cancer is the main cause of death in the world. There are several therapies that are in practice for cancer cure including radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and surgery. Among the chemotherapies, natural products are considered comparable safe, easily available and cost effective. Approximately 60% of cancer approved FDA drugs are natural products including vinblastine, doxorubicin, and paclitaxel. These natural products have complex structures due to which they work against cancer through different molecular pathways, STAT3, NF-kB, PI3K/AKT/mTOR, cell cycle arrest, mitochondrial dependent pathway, extrinsic apoptosis pathway, autophagy, mitophagy and ferroptosis. AA is a natural abietane diterpenoid compound from Pinus palustris and Pimenta racemose var. grissea with different pharmacological activities including anti-inflammatory, anti-convulsant, anti-obesity and anti-allergic. Recently it has been reported with its anticancer activities through different molecular mechanisms including NF-kB, PI3K/AKT, call cycle arrest at G0/G1 phase, mitochondrial dependent pathway, extrinsic apoptosis pathway, AMPK pathway and ferroptosis pathways. The literature survey reveals that there is no review on AA anticancer molecular mechanisms, therefore in current review, we summarize the anticancer molecular mechanisms of AA.

BACKGROUND: Reduced numbers and dysfunction of thymic epithelial cells (TECs) are important factors of thymic degeneration. Previous studies have found that umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UCMSCs) reverse the structure and function of the senescent thymus in vivo. However, the transcriptomic regulation mechanism is unclear. METHODS: TECs were cultured with H2O2 for 72 hours to induce senescence. UCMSCs were cocultured with senescent TECs for 48 hours to detect SA-ß-gal, P16 and Ki67. The cocultured TECs were collected for lncRNA, mRNA and miRNA sequencing to establish a competitive endogenous regulatory network (ceRNA). And RT-qPCR, immunofluorescence staining, and western blot were used to identified key genes. RESULTS: Our results showed that H2O2 induced TEC aging and that UCMSCs reversed these changes. Compared with those in aged TECs, 2260 DE mRNAs, 1033 DE lncRNAs and 67 DE miRNAs were differentially expressed, and these changes were reversed by coculturing the cells with UCMSCs. Differential mRNA enrichment analysis of ceRNA regulation revealed that the PI3K-AKT pathway was a significant signaling pathway. UCMSC coculture upregulated VEGFA, which is the upstream factor of the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway, and the expression of the key proteins PI3K and AKT. Thus, the expression of the cell cycle suppressor P27, which is downstream of the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway, was downregulated, while the expression of the cell cycle regulators CDK2 and CCNE was upregulated. CONCLUSION: UCMSC coculture upregulated the expression of VEGFA, activated the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway, increased the expression of CDK2 and CCNE, decreased the expression of P27, and promoted the proliferation of TECs.

Background: A decrease in the number and activity of thymic epithelial cells (TECs) is an important factor in thymic degeneration. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) treating thymic ageing is a promising strategy, but the DNA methylation modification mechanism in TECs remains unclear. Methods: Aged rhesus monkeys were treated with MSCs to establish a thymic senescence model, and hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining, immunofluorescence staining, and ELISA were performed to observe the structure and function of the thymus. TEC aging model and MSCs co-culture system were established to detect DNA methylation modification and transcriptomic changes, correlation analysis between transcription factor methylation and mRNA expression, and q-PCR, immunofluorescence staining, and Western blot were used to identified key genes. Results: MSCs improved the structure and function of thymus in elderly macaque monkeys; reduced the expression levels of ß-Gal, P16, and P21; and increased the activity of aging TECs. There were 501 genes with increased methylation in the promoter region in the treated group compared with the untreated group, among which 23 genes were involved in the negative regulation of cell growth, proliferation and apoptosis, while 591 genes had decreased methylation, among which 37 genes were associated with promoting cell growth and proliferation and inhibiting apoptosis. Furthermore, 66 genes showed a negative correlation between promoter methylation levels and gene transcription; specifically, PDE5A, DUOX2, LAMP1 and SVIL were downregulated with increased methylation, inhibiting growth and development, while POLR3G, PGF, CHTF18, KRT17, FOXJ1, NGF, DYRK3, LRP8, CDT1, PRELID1, F2R, KNTC1 and TRIM3 were upregulated with decreased methylation, promoting cell growth. Conclusion: MSCs improve the structure and function of aged thymus, which involves the regulation of DNA methylation profiles and a decrease in the methylation level of the transcription factor NGF to specifically upregulate KRT17 and FOXJ1 to promote the proliferation of TECs.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the safety and feasibility of left subclavian artery (LSA) revascularization techniques during thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR)-the in situ needle fenestration (ISNF) technique and the carotid-subclavian bypass (CS-Bp)-for complicated aortic pathologies. METHODS: A retrospective single-center observational study was conducted to identify all patients with thoracic aortic pathologies who underwent TEVAR with LSA revascularization using either CS-Bp or ISNFs from January 2014 to December 2020. RESULTS: One hundred and twelve consecutive patients who received TEVAR with LSA revascularization were included. Among them, 69 received CS-Bp and 43 received ISNF (29 using the Futhrough adjustable puncture needles, 14 using the binding stent-graft puncture systems). Technical success, defined as achieving aortic arch pathology exclusion and LSA preservation, was attained in 99.1% patients. Early mortality was 0.9%. Major adverse events within 30 days, including one cerebral hemorrhage, one cervical incision hemorrhage, one stroke and two paraplegia, were exclusively observed in the CS-Bp group. Immediate type I, II and III endoleaks occurred in 0%, 4.7% and 2.3% in the ISNF group, respectively, compared to 0%, 2.9% and 0% in the CS-Bp group.One hundred and eight (97.2%) patients were available for follow-up at a median 50 (maiximum of 103) months, revealing a LSA patency rates of 99.1%. Six patients died during follow-ups-five in the CS-Bp group and one in the ISNF group. Cause of death include one aortic-related stent-graft infection, three non-related and two with unknow causes. The survival exhibited no significantly different between the ISNF (97.7%) and CS-Bp (89.9%) groups (p = 0.22). CONCLUSIONS: Both CS-Bp and ISNF are feasible techniques for LSA reconstruction in TEVAR. ISNF, whether using Futhrough or BPS, seems to be competitive with CS-Bp.

BACKGROUND & AIMS: CD36, a membrane protein widely present in various tissues, is crucial role in regulating energy metabolism. The rise of HCC as a notable outcome of NAFLD is becoming more apparent. Patients with hereditary CD36 deficiency are at increased risk of NAFLD. However, the impact of CD36 deficiency on NAFLD-HCC remains unclear. METHODS: Global CD36 knockout mice (CD36KO) and wild type mice (WT) were induced to establish NAFLD-HCC model by N-nitrosodiethylamine (DEN) plus high fat diet (HFD). Transcriptomics was employed to examine genes that were expressed differentially. RESULTS: Compared to WT mice, CD36KO mice showed more severe HFD-induced liver issues and increased tumor malignancy. The MEK1/2-ERK1/2 pathway activation was detected in the liver tissues of CD36KO mice using RNA sequencing and Western blot analysis. CONCLUSION: Systemic loss of CD36 leaded to the advancement of NAFLD to HCC by causing lipid disorders and metabolic inflammation, a process that involves the activation of MAPK signaling pathway. We found that CD36 contributes significantly to the maintenance of metabolic homeostasis in NAFLD-HCC.

Background: Osteoporosis increases bone brittleness and the risk of fracture. Umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell (UCMSC) treatment is effective, but how to improve the biological activity and clinical efficacy of UCMSCs has not been determined. METHODS: A rat model of osteoporosis was induced with dexamethasone sodium phosphate. Highly active umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (HA-UCMSCs) and UCMSCs were isolated, cultured, identified, and infused intravenously once at a dose of 2.29 × 106 cells/kg. In the 4th week of treatment, bone mineral density (BMD) was evaluated via cross-micro-CT, tibial structure was observed via HE staining, osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMMSCs) was examined via alizarin red staining, and carboxy-terminal cross-linked telopeptide (CTX), nuclear factor-κß ligand (RANKL), procollagen type 1 N-terminal propeptide (PINP) and osteoprotegerin (OPG) levels were investigated via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs). BMMSCs were treated with 10-6 mol/L dexamethasone and cocultured with HA-UCMSCs and UCMSCs in transwells. The osteogenic and adipogenic differentiation of BMMSCs was subsequently examined through directional induction culture. The protein expression levels of WNT, ß-catenin, RUNX2, IFN-γ and IL-17 in the bone tissue were measured via Western blotting. RESULTS: The BMD in the healthy group was higher than that in the model group. Both UCMSCs and HA-UCMSCs exhibited a fusiform morphology; swirling growth; high expression of CD73, CD90 and CD105; and low expression of CD34 and CD45 and could differentiate into adipocytes, osteoblasts and chondrocytes, while HA-UCMSCs were smaller in size; had a higher nuclear percentage; and higher differentiation efficiency. Compared with those in the model group, the BMD increased, the bone structure improved, the trabecular area, number, and perimeter increased, the osteogenic differentiation of BMMSCs increased, RANKL expression decreased, and PINP expression increased after UCMSC and HA-UCMSC treatment for 4 weeks. Furthermore, the BMD, trabecular area, number and perimeter, calcareous nodule counts, and OPG/RANKL ratio were higher in the HA-UCMSC treatment group than in the UCMSC treatment group. The osteogenic and adipogenic differentiation of dexamethasone-treated BMMSCs was enhanced after the coculture of UCMSCs and HA-UCMSCs, and the HA-UCMSC group exhibited better effects than the UCMSC coculture group. The protein expression of WNT, ß-catenin, and runx2 was upregulated, and IFN-γ and IL-17 expression was downregulated after UCMSC and HA-UCMSC treatment. CONCLUSION: HA-UCMSCs have a stronger therapeutic effect on osteoporosis compared with that of UCMSCs. These effects include an improved bone structure, increased BMD, an increased number and perimeter of trabeculae, and enhanced osteogenic differentiation of BMMSCs via activation of the WNT/ß-catenin pathway and inhibition of inflammation.

Recent epigenetic studies have revealed a strong association between DNA methylation and aging and lifespan, which changes (increases or decreases) with age. Based on these, the construction of age prediction models associated with DNA methylation levels can be used to infer biological ages closer to the functional state of the organism. We downloaded methylation data from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) public database for normal peripheral blood samples from people of different ages. We grouped the samples according to age (18-35 years and >50 years), screened the methylation sites that differed between the two groups, identified 44 differentially methylated sites, and subsequently obtained 11 age-related characteristic methylation sites using the random forest method. Then, we constructed an age classification model with these 11 characteristic methylation sites using an artificial neural network and evaluated its efficacy. The age classification model was constructed by an artificial neural network and its efficacy was evaluated. The model predicted an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.97 in the validation set and accurately distinguished between those aged 18-35 and >50 years. Furthermore, the levels of these 11 characteristic methylation sites also differed significantly between the two sets of samples in the validation set, including six newly identified age-related methylation sites (P<0.001). Finally, we constructed a multifactor regulatory network based on the corresponding genes of age-related methylation sites to reveal the transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation patterns. As a result of the increasing problem of aging, the age classification model we constructed allows us to accurately distinguish different age groups at the molecular level, which will be more predictive than chronological age for assessing individual aging and future health status.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of end-stage mortality in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients. However, CVD and CKD are inextricably linked, as microalbuminuria is an independent risk factor for CVD. Herein, we investigated changes in cardiac function and its risk factors in CKD patients who had different urine albumin-to-creatinine ratios (UACRs) and estimated glomerular filtration rates (eGFRs). We prospectively enrolled 182 CKD patients, classified into three groups based on UACRs and eGFRs. Fifty healthy volunteers were included as controls. Changes in clinical and echocardiographic parameters were assessed in each group, and factors independently associated with strain parameters were further analyzed. Compared with those in the control group, the albuminuria but unimpaired renal function (ALB-CKD G1-2), albuminuria and impaired renal function (ALB-CKD G3), and normoalbuminuric CKD (NACKD) groups had decreased left ventricular (LV), right ventricular (RV), and left atrial (LA) strains, the LA contractile strain being the only statistically comparable parameter. Stepwise multiple linear regression analysis revealed varying factors independently correlating with the LV global longitudinal strain. The LA reservoir and conduit strains independently correlated with LV diastolic function in stage 3 CKD associated with comorbid albuminuria or normoalbuminuria. LV function was a partial determinant of LA and RV function in the ALB-CKD G3 group, whereas ventricular and atrial function were independent of each other in the ALB-CKD G1-2 and NACKD groups. Clinical intervention should focus on specific factors affecting cardiac function in patients to reduce the risk of CVD-related death.

PURPOSE: To observe the short-term efficacy of thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) using a single left common carotid artery chimney stent combined with a Castor single-branched stent-graft (SC-TEVAR) in the treatment of zone 2 (Z2) aortic diseases. MATERIALS AND METHODS: To conduct a retrospective analysis of 20 patients with Z2 aortic diseases who were treated in our department from June 2021 to April 2022. The lesions included true aortic degenerative aneurysms with diameter ≥5.0 cm and penetrating aortic ulcers with depth >1.0 cm or basal width >2.0 cm. All 20 patients accepted the SC-TEVAR treatment, which was a new hybrid method to assure the flow of the left common carotid artery (LCCA) and left subclavian artery (LSA). This method was defined as a concomitant chimney stent for LCCA and a Castor single-branched stent graft for the aorta and LSA. The baseline data and intraoperative data were collected to evaluate the safety and efficacy of this method. The patency of the target blood vessel and any associated complications were evaluated at 1 and 6 months postoperatively, to analyze the safety and efficacy of this new method. RESULTS: After discharge from the hospital, all patients were followed up by a specific follow-up team. At 6 monthly follow-up period, there were no cardiac events, stroke, hemiplegia, type I endoleak, type II endoleak, proximal stent graft-induced new entries, distal stent graft-induced new entries, wound infection, or bleeding. Only 1 patient developed an inguinal wound hematoma and got conservative treatment. Importantly, no patients developed stenosis or occlusion of the LCCA or LSA. The patency of branched arteries was 100%. The technical success rate was 90%. CONCLUSION: SC-TEVAR appears to be a new and relatively simple, safe, and effective treatment for Z2 aortic diseases. CLINICAL IMPACT: This was a single-center retrospective cohort study. A total of 20 patients with zone 2 aortic diseases accepted a new hybrid surgical method named SC-TEVAR. This method was not complicated and could be finished with only 3 peripheral artery exposure. The result showed no mortality, 100% patency of the branch artery, and 90% of technical success in 6 months of follow-up time. SC-TEVAR showed a satisfactory result in this retrospective study and could be promoted as an easy method to treat zone 2 aortic diseases.

Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) is a first-line treatment for intermediate to advanced-stage liver cancer, with drug-eluting microspheres commonly used as embolic agents. However, currently available drug-eluting microspheres suffer from low drug-loading capacity and limited drug options. In this work, we developed polydopamine-modified polyvinyl alcohol dual-drug-loaded microspheres encapsulating celecoxib and cisplatin (referred to as PCDMS). Physicochemical characterization revealed that the surface of the microspheres displayed increased roughness after polydopamine modification, and celecoxib and cisplatin were successfully loaded onto the microsphere surface. In vitro cell experiments demonstrated that the PCDMS significantly inhibited the proliferation and migration of highly metastatic human liver cancer cells (MHCC-97H) and human liver cancer cells (SMMC-7721). Furthermore, the dual-loaded microspheres exhibited remarkable tumor growth inhibition and reshaped the tumor microenvironment in both subcutaneous H22 liver cancer model in Balb/c mice and intrahepatic VX2 tumor model in New Zealand rabbits, demonstrating a synergistic antitumor effect where 1 + 1>2. This work provides a potential therapeutic approach for the treatment of refractory liver cancer and holds significant translational potential.

PURPOSE: This study aimed to utilize shear wave elastography (SWE) to assess changes in renal stiffness and its influencing factors in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) across different estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) categories. It also sought to determine the correlation between perirenal fat (PF) and renal stiffness at various stages of CKD. METHODS: A total of 190 CKD patients and 50 healthy controls were evaluated. Clinical parameters, conventional renal ultrasound measurements, PF, and renal stiffness trends were assessed separately. Factors independently associated with renal stiffness and PF were further analyzed. RESULTS: Renal parenchymal stiffness was significantly higher in the Albumin-CKD G1-2 (ALB-CKD G1-2) and CKD G3 groups than in the control group (p < 0.05). The parenchymal stiffness of the CKD G3 group was higher than that of the ALB-CKD G1-2 group (p < 0.05). The independent factors of renal parenchymal stiffness varied at different stages of disease development, with eGFR and PF being significant factors in the CKD G3 group. PF was elevated in the ALB-CKD G1-2 and CKD G3 groups compared to the control group, and the independent factors of PF varied across different stages, although waist circumference remained a common factor. CONCLUSION: Using SWE to detect renal elastic moduli can effectively assess changes in renal stiffness in patients with CKD with varying eGFRs. PF is an independent factor of renal stiffness in patients with CKD G3, providing a foundation for early diagnosis and clinical treatment.

With the rapid development of society and the economy, population aging has become a common challenge faced by many countries in the world today. Structural and functional changes in the cardiovascular system can occur with age, increasing the incidence and severity of cardiovascular diseases in older adults. Due to the limited regenerative capacity of myocardial cells, myocardial infarction and its resulting heart failure and congenital heart disease have become the number one killer of human health. At present, the treatment of cardiovascular diseases includes drug therapy and nondrug therapy. Nondrug therapy mainly includes minimally invasive interventional therapy, surgical diagnosis and treatment, and cell therapy. Long-term drug treatment may cause headache due to vasodilation, lower blood pressure, digestive system dysfunction and other side effects. Surgical treatment is traumatic, difficult to treat, and expensive. In recent years, stem cell therapy has exhibited broad application prospects in basic and clinical research on cardiovascular disease because of its plasticity, self-renewal and multidirectional differentiation potential. Therefore, this paper looks at stem cell therapy for diseases, reviews recent advances in the mechanism and clinical transformation of cardiovascular aging and related diseases in China, and briefly discusses the development trend and future prospects of cardiovascular aging research.

The current environmental crisis is mostly due to global warming. Promoting walking and cycling requires both the availability of green public areas (such as parks, green paths, and greenways) and a mentality that values such active modes of transportation. Significant health advantages from increased physical activity (PA) are associated with transportation options like walking and cycling (sometimes known as "active transportation," AT): the health and environmental advantages of encouraging workers to use bicycles for transportation been widely acknowledged. The authors of this research set out to fill this information gap by investigating the theoretically theorized links between green public space awareness and attitudes toward active mobility, adapting to a changing environment, and improving one's mental and physical health, with leisure and tourist activities serving as a moderator. The data was collected quantitatively using purposive sampling and then analyzed using PLS-SEM. We surveyed Korean walkers (n = 282) and bikers (n = 315) online between May 25 and June 17, 2021, and used a partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) analysis to test our hypothesis. As stated in the findings, being conscious of green public space when using active transportation significantly affects how clean the air feels. Active transportation was shown to have a significant effect on health, and climate change mitigation efforts were found to have a significant effect on health. Those who used active transportation for tourism had a stronger connection between green public space awareness and air quality, in addition to environmental sustainability and ethical conduct mitigation, than those who used active transport for recreation. Therefore, the model may aid in locating transport and health scenarios that benefit both sectors.

To explore the mechanism of the end-to-end transmission delay of the communication network on the collaborative driving process for traffic flow in the vehicle-to-vehicle communication environment, based on the idea of the car-following model, this paper introduces characteristic parameters characterizing the end-to-end transmission delay of the network into Newell's following model and proposes a CD and OV model by considering the time delay characteristics of the collaborative driving process from information transmission to control decision and then to physical execution. To determine the cooperative driving system's stability criterion, the stability analysis of the new model is examined. By using the reductive perturbation approach, the spatiotemporal evolution mechanism of the traffic flow around the critical stability point under the influence of various transmission delays is analyzed. The resulting modified Korteweg-de Vries (mKdV) equations and density wave solutions are derived. The results show that the end-to-end transmission delay of the network has a significant shock effect on the stability of the vehicle-vehicle cooperative driving system, and the stability of the traffic flow and the ability to suppress traffic congestion becomes worse with the increase in the end-to-end transmission delay.

Understanding how microbes interact with each other is key to revealing the underlying role that microorganisms play in the host or environment and to identifying microorganisms as an agent that can potentially alter the host or environment. For example, understanding how the microbial interactions associate with parasitic infection can help resolve potential drug or diagnostic test for parasitic infection. To unravel the microbial interactions, existing tools often rely on graphical models to infer the conditional dependence of microbial abundances to represent their interactions. However, current methods do not simultaneously account for the discreteness, compositionality, and heterogeneity inherent to microbiome data. Thus, we build a new approach called "compositional graphical lasso" upon existing tools by incorporating the above characteristics into the graphical model explicitly. We illustrate the advantage of compositional graphical lasso over current methods under a variety of simulation scenarios and on a benchmark study, the Tara Oceans Project. Moreover, we present our results from the analysis of a dataset from the Zebrafish Parasite Infection Study, which aims to gain insight into how the gut microbiome and parasite burden covary during infection, thus uncovering novel putative methods of disrupting parasite success. Our approach identifies changes in interaction degree between infected and uninfected individuals for three taxa, Photobacterium, Gemmobacter, and Paucibacter, which are inversely predicted by other methods. Further investigation of these method-specific taxa interaction changes reveals their biological plausibility. In particular, we speculate on the potential pathobiotic roles of Photobacterium and Gemmobacter in the zebrafish gut, and the potential probiotic role of Paucibacter. Collectively, our analyses demonstrate that compositional graphical lasso provides a powerful means of accurately resolving interactions between microbiota and can thus drive novel biological discovery.

Among these, π-conjugated materials have garnered significant attention as a special class of nanomaterials in brain tumor-related studies. With their excellent optical and electronic properties, π-conjugated materials can be tailored in structure and nature to facilitate applications in multimodal imaging, nano-drug delivery, photothermal therapy, and other related fields. This review focuses on presenting the cutting-edge advances and application prospects of π-conjugated materials in brain tumor imaging and therapeutic nanotechnology.
