RESUMO

Despite neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (CRT) being the established standard for treating advanced rectal cancer, clinical outcomes remain suboptimal, necessitating the identification of predictive biomarkers for improved treatment decisions. Previous studies have hinted at the oncogenic properties of the Fc fragment of IgG binding protein (FCGBP) in various cancers; however, its clinical significance in rectal cancer remains unclear. In this study, we first conducted an analysis of a public transcriptome comprising 46 rectal cancer patients. Focusing on cell adhesion during data mining, we identified FCGBP as the most upregulated gene associated with CRT resistance. Subsequently, we assessed FCGBP immunointensity using immunohistochemical staining on 343 rectal cancer tissue blocks. Elevated FCGBP immunointensity correlated with lymph node involvement before treatment (p = 0.001), tumor invasion, and lymph node involvement after treatment (both p < 0.001), vascular invasion (p = 0.001), perineural invasion (p = 0.041), and reduced tumor regression (p < 0.001). Univariate analysis revealed a significant association between high FCGBP immunoexpression and inferior disease-specific survival, local recurrence-free survival, and metastasis-free survival (all p ≤ 0.0002). Furthermore, high FCGBP immunoexpression independently emerged as an unfavorable prognostic factor for all three survival outcomes in the multivariate analysis (all p ≤ 0.025). Enriched pathway analysis substantiated the role of FCGBP in conferring resistance to radiation. In summary, our findings suggest that elevated FCGBP immunoexpression in rectal cancer significantly correlates with a poor response to CRT and diminished patient survival. FCGBP holds promise as a valuable prognostic biomarker for rectal cancer patients undergoing CRT.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) is suggested before resection surgery in the control of rectal cancer. Unfortunately, treatment outcomes are widely variable and highly patient-specific. Notably, rectal cancer patients with distant metastasis generally have a much lower survival rate. Accordingly, a better understanding of the genetic background of patient cohorts can aid in predicting CCRT efficacy and clinical outcomes for rectal cancer before distant metastasis. METHODS: A published transcriptome dataset (GSE35452) (n=46) was utilized to distinguish prospective genes concerning the response to CCRT. We recruited 172 rectal cancer patients, and the samples were collected during surgical resection after CCRT. Immunohistochemical (IHC) staining was performed to evaluate the expression level of regenerating family member 3 alpha (REG3A). Pearson's chi-squared test appraised the relevance of REG3A protein expression to clinicopathological parameters. The Kaplan-Meier method was utilized to generate survival curves, and the log-rank test was performed to compare the survival distributions between two given groups. RESULTS: Employing a transcriptome dataset (GSE35452) and focusing on the inflammatory response (GO: 0006954), we recognized that REG3A is the most significantly upregulated gene among CCRT nonresponders (log2 ratio=1.2472, p=0.0079). Following IHC validation, high immunoexpression of REG3A was considerably linked to advanced post-CCRT tumor status (p<0.001), post-CCRT lymph node metastasis (p=0.042), vascular invasion (p=0.028), and low-grade tumor regression (p=0.009). In the multivariate analysis, high immunoexpression of REG3A was independently correlated with poor disease-specific survival (DSS) (p=0.004) and metastasis-free survival (MeFS) (p=0.045). The results of the bioinformatic analysis also supported the idea that REG3A overexpression is implicated in rectal carcinogenesis. CONCLUSION: In the current study, we demonstrated that REG3A overexpression is correlated with poor CCRT effectiveness and inferior patient survival in rectal cancer. The predictive and prognostic utility of REG3A expression may direct patient stratification and decision-making more accurately for those patients.

RESUMO

In this paper, the stability and stabilization problems for T-S fuzzy delayed systems is studied. A flexible membership-dependent Lyapunov functional (FMDLF) is constructed to fully utilize the information of time-varying delay and fuzzy membership functions (FMFs). Different from some exiting ones, the upper and lower limits of the integral terms in the FMDLF are adjustable. By first introducing exponential gains in reciprocally convex inequality, an exponential-type reciprocally convex inequality (ETRCI) is developed to estimate the FMDLF, which generates some existing results. Based on the FMDLF and ETRCI, a novel stability criterion is obtained. By using a decoupling technique, the corresponding controller design problem is solved. Importantly, the dimensions of the solution space increase since the constraints on slack matrices in some previous studies are eliminated. The effectiveness of the proposed results can be demonstrated by some examples.

RESUMO

Cholangiocarcinoma is the most common malignant bile duct tumor in Southeast Asia. The special location of cholangiocarcinoma leads to it being difficult to diagnose. Currently, the progress in clinical prognosis outcomes remains abysmal owing to the lack of definitive diagnostic criteria. Therefore, uncovering the potential markers for cholangiocarcinoma is a pressing issue. Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2 C (UBE2C) is a critical ubiquitination enzyme; it is involved in the tumorigenesis of various malignancies and affects the patient's prognosis. However, there is currently no relevant literature to indicate whether UBE2C is related to the clinical survival outcome of cholangiocarcinoma patients. In this report, we mined the published cholangiocarcinoma transcriptome data set (GSE26566), compared it with the ubiquitination-associated gene (GO:0016567), and identified that UBE2C was highly expressed in cholangiocarcinoma tumor tissue. Moreover, high expression of UBE2C was markedly correlated with surgical margin, primary tumor, histological variants, and histological grade. More specifically, high expression of UBE2C was negatively associated with overall survival, disease-specific survival, local recurrence-free survival, and metastasis-free survival in patients with cholangiocarcinoma. Our findings demonstrate that UBE2C may provide a potential therapeutic marker and prognostic factor for cholangiocarcinoma patients.

RESUMO

The orbital angular momentum (OAM) generation as well as its associated orbital torque is currently a matter of great interest in spin-orbitronics and is receiving increasing attention. In particular, recent theoretical work predicts that the oxidized light metal Cu can serve as an efficient OAM generator through its surface orbital Rashba effect. Here, for the first time, the crucial current-induced magnetic-field-free in-plane magnetization reversal is experimentally demonstrated in CoFeB/CuOx bilayers without any heavy elements. We show that the critical current density can be comparable to that of strong spin-orbit coupling systems with heavy metals (Pt and Ta) and that the magnetization reversal mechanism is governed by coherent rotation in the grains through the second-harmonic and magneto-optical Kerr effect measurements. Our results indicate that light metal oxides can play an equally important role as heavy metals in magnetization reversal, broadening the choice of materials for engineering spintronic devices.

RESUMO

Cholangiocarcinoma is a common malignancy with increasing incidence worldwide. Most patients are diagnosed at the advanced stage with poor survival rate. Laminin subunit γ2 (LAMC2) is a heparin binding-associated gene involved in tumorigenesis and has been implicated in the prognosis of various types of cancers. However, it is unclear whether expression of LAMC2 is associated with the clinical outcome of patients with cholangiocarcinoma. In the present study, the role and prognostic value of LAMC2 expression in patients with cholangiocarcinoma was investigated. Clinical information and pathological characteristics were analyzed and the association between LAMC2 expression and clinical characteristics, pathological findings and patient outcomes, including metastasis-free and disease-specific survival, were investigated. Data from 182 patients with cholangiocarcinoma were evaluated. High LAMC2 expression was associated with higher tumor stage (P<0.001), large duct type (P=0.024) and poor histological grade (P=0.002). Kaplan-Meier analysis showed high LAMC2 expression was associated with lower overall (P=0.003), disease-specific (P=0.0025), local recurrence-free (P<0.0001) and metastasis-free survival (P<0.0001). Moreover, multivariate analysis demonstrated that increased LAMC2 expression was a significant predictive risk factor for overall [hazard ratio (HR) 1.713; P=0.034], disease-specific (HR 2.011; P=0.039), local recurrence-free (HR 2.721; P<0.001) and metastasis-free survival (HR 3.117; P<0.001). Gene enrichment analysis using Gene Ontology showed that terms associated with LAMC2 upregulation were 'regulation of platelet-derived growth factor receptor-ßsignaling pathway' and 'platelet-derived growth factor receptor-ß signaling pathway'. The present study indicated that LAMC2 was upregulated in cholangiocarcinoma tumor tissue and had an inverse association with overall, disease-specific, local recurrence-free and metastasis-free survival in patients with cholangiocarcinoma. These results suggested that LAMC2 may serve as a potential biomarker for cholangiocarcinoma.

RESUMO

A hallmark of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis is the TGF-ß-dependent activation of lung fibroblasts, leading to excessive deposition of collagen proteins and progressive scarring. We have previously shown that synthesis of collagen by lung fibroblasts requires de novo synthesis of glycine, the most abundant amino acid in collagen protein. TGF-ß upregulates the expression of the enzymes of the de novo serine/glycine synthesis pathway in lung fibroblasts through mTORC1 and ATF4-dependent transcriptional programs. SHMT2, the final enzyme of the de novo serine/glycine synthesis pathway, transfers a one-carbon unit from serine to tetrahydrofolate (THF), producing glycine and 5,10-methylene-THF (meTHF). meTHF is converted back to THF in the mitochondrial one-carbon (1C) pathway through the sequential actions of MTHFD2 (which converts meTHF to 10-formyl-THF), and either MTHFD1L, which produces formate, or ALDH1L2, which produces CO2. It is unknown how the mitochondrial 1C pathway contributes to glycine biosynthesis or collagen protein production in fibroblasts, or fibrosis in vivo. Here, we demonstrate that TGF-ß induces the expression of MTHFD2, MTHFD1L, and ALDH1L2 in human lung fibroblasts. MTHFD2 expression was required for TGF-ß-induced cellular glycine accumulation and collagen protein production. Combined knockdown of both MTHFD1L and ALDH1L2 also inhibited glycine accumulation and collagen protein production downstream of TGF-ß; however knockdown of either protein alone had no inhibitory effect, suggesting that lung fibroblasts can utilize either enzyme to regenerate THF. Pharmacologic inhibition of MTHFD2 recapitulated the effects of MTHFD2 knockdown in lung fibroblasts and ameliorated fibrotic responses after intratracheal bleomycin instillation in vivo. Our results provide insight into the metabolic requirements of lung fibroblasts and provide support for continued development of MTHFD2 inhibitors for the treatment of IPF and other fibrotic diseases.

RESUMO

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the anticancer effect of punicalagin, an abundant bioactive tannin compound isolated from Punica granatum L., on three colon cancer cell lines, namely, HCT 116, HT-29, and LoVo.Research Design: Normal and colon cancer cells were treated with different concentrations of punicalagin for different periods. Data Collection and Analysis: Cell viability was measured with a CCK-8 assay. Programmed cell death and invasion were analyzed using an annexin V and cell death kit and a cell invasion analysis kit. The expression of active caspase-3, MMP-2, MMP-9, Snail, and Slug were measured by Western blot. Results: The results of the cell viability analysis showed that punicalagin was cytotoxic to colon cancer cells, but it was not to normal cells in a dose- and time-dependent manner. Additionally, punicalagin induced apoptosis in colon cancer cells (shown by the cumulative percentage of colorectal cancer cells in early and late apoptosis). It was found that caspase-3 activity increased following punicalagin treatment. Western blot results also showed that punicalagin increased the expression of activated caspase-3. In contrast, punicalagin inhibited the invasion of colon cancer cells. Further, treatment of colon cancer cells with punicalagin suppressed the expression of MMP-2, MMP-9, Snail, and Slug. Conclusions: These results showed that the activation of caspase-3 and the inhibition of MMP-2, MMP-9, Snail and Slug were involved in the effects of punicalagin on colon cancer cells.

RESUMO

Cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) interacts with various extracellular matrix proteins in tissues. Elevated COMP levels recently linked to worse overall survival in multiple cancer types. COMP's significance in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) remains uncertain. Here we report a retrospective study to explore COMP's impact on iCCA outcomes. We collected 182 patients' iCCA tumor tissues. COMP overexpression was associated with adverse factors like R1 resection (p = 0.008), advanced T stage (p < 0.001), large duct type (p = 0.004), and poorly differentiated histology (p = 0.002). COMP overexpression correlates with poorer DFS (HR, 3.651; p = 0.001), OS (HR, 1.827; p = 0.023), LRFS (HR, 4.077; p < 0.001), and MFS (HR, 3.718; p < 0.001). High COMP expression ties to worse overall survival (p = 0.0001), DSS (p < 0.0001), LRFS (p < 0.0001), and MFS (p < 0.0001). In conclusion, COMP overexpression links to poor prognosis and pathological features in iCCA, indicating its potential as a biomarker.

RESUMO

Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (IHCC) is the second most common malignant neoplasm of the liver. In spite of the increasing incidence worldwide, it is relatively rare in Western countries. IHCC is relatively common in Eastern and Southeastern Asia. Patients with IHCC are usually diagnosed at an advanced stage, therefore, the clinical outcome is dismal. Dysregulation of urea cycle metabolic enzyme expression is found in different types of cancers. Nevertheless, a comprehensive evaluation of genes related to the urea cycle (i.e., GO:0000050) has not been conducted in IHCC. By performing a comparative analysis of gene expression profiles, we specifically examined genes associated with the urea cycle (GO:0000050) in a publicly accessible transcriptomic dataset (GSE26566). Interestingly, CPS1 was identified as the second most prominently down-regulated gene in this context. Tumor tissues of 182 IHCC patients who underwent curative-intent hepatectomy were enrolled. The expression level of CPS1 protein in our IHCC cohort was assessed by immunohistochemical study. Subsequent to that, statistical analyses were carried out to examine the expression of CPS1 in relation to various clinicopathological factors, as well as to assess its impact on survival outcomes. We noticed that lower immunoreactivity of CPS1 in IHCC was associated with tumor progression (pT status) with statistical significance (p = 0.003). CPS1 underexpression was not only negatively correlated to overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DFS), local recurrence-free survival (LRFS) and metastasis-free survival (MeFS) in univariate analysis but also an independent prognosticator to forecast poorer clinical outcome for all prognostic indices (OS, DFS, LRFS and MeFs) in patients with IHCC (all p ≤ 0.001). These results support that CPS1 may play a crucial role in IHCC oncogenesis and tumor progression and serve as a novel prognostic factor and a potential diagnostic and theranostic biomarker.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Exposure to air pollution brings the advent effect for various diseases, but study about the relationship between air pollution and ageing is scant. We aimed to determine the associations between household air pollution for cooking and heating with muscle and sarcopenia in Chinese older population by a nationally representative study. METHODS: This cross-sectional study included individuals aged 60 and above from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study between 2011 and 2015. The diagnosis of sarcopenia was defined by low muscle mass with low muscle strength and/or reduced physical performance. Generalized additive analyses and dose-dependent analyses with three models were used to assess the effects of different pattern of cooking and heating on muscle and sarcopenia. RESULTS: A total of 8126 Chinese older individuals with predominant male (53.7%) and mean age of 67.3 ± 6.0 years were included in our study. Solid fuel use in cooking showed significant declines in muscle strength (ß = -0.424, 95% CI: -0.767, -0.082, P = 0.01 in model 3) and mass (ß = -0.034, 95% CI: -0.051, -0.017, P < 0.01 in model 3), when compared with clean fuel use in cooking, respectively. Solid fuel for heating was correlated with lower muscle strength (ß = -0.637, 95% CI: -1.033, -0.241, P < 0.01 in model 3) than clean fuel for heating. The joint use of solid fuel for cooking and heating was associated with reduced muscle strength (ß = -0.835, 95% CI: -1.306, -0.365, P < 0.01 in model 3) and mass (ß = -0.038, 95% CI: -0.061, -0.015, P < 0.01 in model 3) than clean fuel for cooking and heating. Solid fuel for cooking was associated with significantly increased risk of low muscle strength (adjusted OR = 1.29, 95% CI: 1.11, 1.50, P < 0.01 in model 3) and mass (adjusted OR = 1.35, 95% CI: 1.11, 1.61, P < 0.01 in model 3), possible sarcopenia (adjusted OR = 1.33, 95% CI: 1.19, 1.48, P < 0.01 in model 3) and sarcopenia (adjusted OR = 1.44, 95% CI: 1.21, 1.72, P < 0.01 in model 3) compared with clean fuel for cooking. Solid fuel for heating had a significant correlation with low muscle strength (adjusted OR = 1.30, 95% CI: 1.09, 1.56, P < 0.01 in model 3) and possible sarcopenia (adjusted OR = 1.49, 95% CI: 1.31, 1.70, P < 0.01 in model 3). Dose-dependent manner was shown in the associations between the number of solid fuel with low muscle strength and possible sarcopenia. Clean fuel for cooking and solid fuel for heating was positively associated with the prevalence of possible sarcopenia than clean fuel for cooking and heating (adjusted OR = 1.34, 95% CI: 1.14, 1.57, P < 0.01 in model 3). CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggested that solid fuel for cooking and the number of solid fuel use potentially facilitates the onset and progression of muscle loss and sarcopenia.

RESUMO

Portal vein cannulation is a very rare complication of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). In most reported cases, the event was managed safely with immediate catheter, guidewire withdrawn and procedure termination. Here, we report an unusual case of portobiliary fistula created during ERCP. To our knowledge, this is the first report of such case managed with immediate surgical biliary exposure.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a malignant tumor with an increasing incidence worldwide. Although radiation therapy has improved the therapeutic efficiency of CCA treatment, differential expression of genes among cholangiocarcinoma subtypes has been revealed through precise sequencing. However, no specific molecular therapeutic targets or biomarkers have been figured out for use in precision medicine, and the exact mechanism by which antitumorigenic effects occur is still unclear. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct further studies on the development and mechanisms associated with CCA. METHODS: We examined the clinical data and pathological features of patients with cholangiocarcinomas. We investigated the associations between DNA Topoisomerase II Alpha (TOP2A) expression and patient outcomes, such as metastasis-free survival (MFS) and disease-specific survival (DSS), as well as clinical characteristics and pathological results. RESULTS: TOP2A expression was shown to be upregulated in CCA tissue sections by immunohistochemistry staining and data mining. Moreover, we observed that the TOP2A expression correlated with clinical features, such as the primary tumor stage, histological variants, and patients with hepatitis. Furthermore, high expression of TOP2A was associated with worse survival outcomes in terms of the overall survival (p < 0.0001), disease-specific survival (p < 0.0001), and metastasis-free survival (p < 0.0001) compared with patients in the low TOP2A expression group. This indicates that a high level of TOP2A expression is related to an unfavorable prognosis. CONCLUSIONS: Our results show that TOP2A is highly expressed in CCA tissues, and its upregulation is correlated with the primary disease stage and poor prognosis significantly. Consequently, TOP2A is a prognostic biomarker and a novel therapeutic target for the treatment of CCA.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Depression plays an important role in the occurrence and development of asthma. Nocturnal awakening secondary to asthma is a crucial sign of the deterioration of asthmatic outcomes. This study plans to determine the associations between depression, nocturnal awakening and asthmatic outcomes by using multi-dimensional analyses. METHODS: Study population came from the Adult Asthma Call-Back Survey 2013-2017. Multivariable regression analysis with binomial or Poisson models, dose-dependent analysis and mediation analysis were used to explore the associations between depression and nocturnal awakening with asthmatic episodes/attacks, emergency room (ER) and hospital visits. RESULTS: 18,684 physician-diagnosis asthmatics were included into this study. This population consisted of 31.4 % with nocturnal awakening and 37.6 % with depression. Multivariable binomial analyses suggested that nocturnal awakening and depression were positively associated with asthmatic episodes/attacks and ER visits. Dose-dependent analyses demonstrated that the increase of nocturnal awakening was positively associated with the increase of depression and three asthmatic outcomes. Asthmatics with depression had the higher prevalence (adjusted OR = 1.17, 95%CI: 1.08-1.27) and frequency (adjusted RR = 1.08, 95%CI: 1.07-1.10) of nocturnal awakening than those without depression. Mediation analyses suggested that clarification of verbiage denoted trivial effect of depression on the associations between nocturnal awakening with asthmatic outcomes, while nocturnal awakening mildly mediated these associations between depression with asthmatic episodes/attacks (15.26 %, 95%CI: 7.29 %-28.7 %) and ER visits (13.29 %, 95%CI: 5.33 %-44.12 %). LIMITATION: The cross-sectional nature limited inferences on causality. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings showed that depression and nocturnal awakening might affect asthmatic outcomes. Nocturnal awakening harbored the mediated effect in the correlations between depression and asthmatic outcomes.

RESUMO

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the types of cancers with a high incidence and is ranked the 3rd among men and 2nd among women worldwide. The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between non-SMC condensin I complex subunit G (NCAPG) and the prognosis of CRC and its function in CRC cells. The expression of NCAPG in colorectal tissues and cells was detected by immunoblotting and immunohistochemistry. Kaplan-Meier analysis was used to analyze the correlation between NCAPG and CRC prognosis. RNAi technology was used to investigate how NCAPG inhibition affected the proliferation and migration of CRC cells. Overexpression of NCAPG was positively correlated with several clinicopathologic characteristics, including T stage (P = 0.0198), M stage (P = 0.0005), and TNM stage (P < 0.0001). Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that the overexpression of NCAPG was also negatively correlated with disease-free survival and overall survival. In the culture of CRC cells, the knockdown of NCAPG inhibited the proliferation, migration, and invasion of the cells. Meanwhile, it was also found that NCAPG knockdown could interfere with G2/M-G1 transition in the cell cycle, resulting in the inhibition of cell proliferation. The overexpression of NCAPG may serve as a candidate biomarker for CRC prognosis. NCAPG is also a potential therapeutic target for CRC.

RESUMO

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Hedychium flavum, an ornamental, edible, and medicinal plant, is extensively cultivated as a source of aromatic essential oils (EO). Its flower is a traditional Chinese medicine for treating inflammation-related diseases like indigestion, diarrhea, and stomach pain. In particular, H. flavum flower EO has been used in cosmetics and as an aromatic stomachic to treat chronic gastritis in China. AIM OF THE STUDY: This research aimed to analyze H. flavum flower EO's chemical composition and explore its anti-inflammatory activities and related mechanisms in vitro and in vivo. MATERIALS AND METHODS: EO's chemical composition was determined by GC-FID/MS analysis. For in vitro test, the anti-inflammatory activity of EO was demonstrated by measuring the LPS-induced release of NO, PGE2, IL-1ß, TNF-α, and IL-6 in RAW264.7 macrophages, and then its related mechanisms were explored using qRT-PCR, western blot, and immunofluorescent staining analysis. Next, EO's in vivo anti-inflammatory potential was further evaluated using a xylene-induced ear edema model, in which ear swelling and TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1ß levels in serum and tissue were examined. RESULTS: The main components of EO were ß-pinene (20.2%), α-pinene (9.3%), α-phellandrene (8.3%), 1,8-cineole (7.1%), E-nerolidol (5.4%), limonene (4.4%), borneol (4.1%), and ß-caryophyllene (3.7%). For the anti-inflammatory activities in vitro, EO dramatically reduced the LPS-stimulated NO and PGE2 release by suppressing the mRNA and protein expression of iNOS and COX-2. Meanwhile, it remarkably decreased IL-6, TNF-α, and IL-1ß production by inhibiting their mRNA levels. Related mechanism studies indicated that it not only inhibited IκBα phosphorylation and degradation, leading to blockade of NF-κB nuclear transfer but also suppressed MAPKs (ERK, p38, and JNK) phosphorylation in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells. Further in vivo assay showed that EO ameliorated xylene-induced ear edema in mice and reduced TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1ß levels in serum and tissue. CONCLUSIONS: H. flavum EO exerted significant anti-inflammatory activity in vivo and in vitro, and its mechanism of action is related to the inhibition of MAPK and NF-κB activation. Thus, H. flavum EO could be considered a novel and promising anti-inflammatory agent and possess high potential for utilization in the pharmaceutical field.

RESUMO

Controllable manipulation of specific spin configurations of magnetic materials is the key to constructing functional spintronic devices. Here, it is demonstrated by integrating the merits of ferromagnetic, ferrimagnetic, and antiferromagnetic spin configurations into one synthetic antiferromagnetic (SAF) heterostructure by controlling both long-range oscillatory interlayer coupling and neighboring ferrimagnetic coupling. A controllable manipulation of four types of spin configurations of the Pt/[Co/Pt/Co]/Ru/CoTb SAF heterostructures composed of ferromagnetic Co/Pt/Co and ferrimagnetic CoTb layers is successfully achieved. In particular, the compensated magnetization, enhanced anomalous Hall resistance in the remanence state, wide-temperature spin-orbit torque switching of magnetization, and high immunity to the external magnetic field are simultaneously obtained in one of the SAF heterojunctions with macroscopic interlayer antiferromagnetic coupling. This design concept of engineering spin configurations may enable efficient spin manipulation for customized memory and logic applications.

RESUMO

This brief addresses the stability analysis problem of a class of delayed recurrent neural networks (DRNNs). In previously published studies, the slope information of activation function (SIAF) is just reflected in three slope information matrices, i.e., the upper and lower boundary matrices and the maximum norm matrix. In practice, there are 2n possible combination cases on the slope information matrices. To exploit more information about SIAF, first, an activation function separation method is proposed to derive n slope-information-based uncertainties (SIBUs) containing SIAF; second, a quadratic matrix convex combination approach is proposed to dispose n SIBUs using 2n combination slope information matrices. Third, a stability criterion with less conservatism is established based on the proposed approach. Finally, two simulation examples are used to testify the validity of theoretical results.

RESUMO

Abstract We aimed to compare the effects of oxycodone hydrochloride and dezocine on hemodynamics and inflammatory factors in patients receiving gynecological laparoscopic surgery under general anesthesia. A total of 246 patients were divided into group A and B (n=123). Hemorheology indices were recorded 5 min after anesthesia (T0), 1 min after pneumoperitoneum (T1), when position was changed 5 min after pneumoperitoneum (T2), 15 min after pneumoperitoneum (T3), 1 min (T4) and 5 min (T5) after position was restored. Visual analogue scale scores 1, 2, 6, 12, 24 and 48 h after operation were recorded. Postoperative adverse reactions and visceral pain were observed. The expression levels of inflammatory factors were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay 12 h after operation. Compared with group A, group B had higher heart rate and mean arterial pressure at T2, lower central venous pressure and cardiac output at T1-T3, and higher systemic vascular resistance at T1-T5 (P<0.05). The incidence rate of pain syndrome in group A was lower (P<0.05). Group A had lower tumor necrosis factor-alpha and interleukin-6 expression levels and higher interleukin-10 level than those of group B (P<0.05). For gynecological laparoscopic surgery, oxycodone preemptive analgesia has superior outcomes to those of dezocine

RESUMO

Background: It is currently unknown whether the dynamic nature of depression affects the development of sarcopenia. Herein, this study aims to assess the association between possible new sarcopenia and the depression trajectory of individuals and their intimate partners through a 4-year longitudinal cohort study. Methods: Our study included 784 pairs of individuals without possible sarcopenia and their spouses from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) 2011. All individuals and their spouses received three assessments of the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression 10-item (CESD-10) scale in 2011, 2013, and 2015. According to the diagnostic algorithm recommended by the Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia (AWGS) 2019, we evaluated the incidence of possible sarcopenia in individuals in 2015. Latent class analysis (LCA) was used to identify a longitudinal depression trajectory of individuals and their spouses during a 4-year follow-up. Subsequently, we assessed the relationship between possible sarcopenia and depression trajectory using three generalized additive models. Results: In 2015, 24.87% (195/784) of individuals were diagnosed with possible sarcopenia. LCA identified five depression trajectories: a persistently high risk of depression in individuals and their spouses (reference; class 1 = 34 [4.3%]); a persistently low risk of depression in individuals and their spouses (class 2 = 526 [67.1%]); a high risk of depression in individuals and a low risk of depression in spouses (class 3 = 46 [5.9%]); a low risk of depression in individuals and a high risk of depression in spouses (class 4 = 116 [14.8%]); and a reduced risk of depression in individuals and their spouses (class 5 = 62 [7.9%]). The highest incidence of possible sarcopenia was shown in class 1, followed by classes 3 and 5. Classes 2 (adjusted relative risk (RR) = 0.44, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.20-0.97) and 4 (adjusted RR = 0.40, 95%CI: 0.17-0.96) had a significantly lower incidence of possible sarcopenia than class 1. Subgroup analysis demonstrated that the incidence of possible sarcopenia in class 4 was obviously higher in women (38.89%) than in men (18.4%). Conclusions: Our study indicates a persistently high risk of depression in individuals to develop possible sarcopenia. In addition, a persistently high risk of depression in intimate partners potentially increases the risk of possible new sarcopenia, especially in female individuals who are at low risk of depression.
